We had a decent budget but we literally could cut it in 3 and still afford a beautiful dress here! My sister hates attention on her and can't make a decision easily. She gets very overwhelmed and most of the places we had a consultant breathing down our necks! Not here! We were able to try on 15 dresses in a hour. After a full day of shopping we went back to the shop and got a dress she fell in love with here. And on top of it all the dress was only 500$!!!! I could not believe it. I totally get this place is hit or miss and some Brides get lucky. I'm one of those Brides. I got my dress back in January from Anthropologie and loved it, but sadly got really sick this Summer and could no longer fit into my gown. I love the concept of this place but I can't rate it well (as much as I would like to) because the dresses were in such poor condition. I understand they are secondhand, but at least 75% of the dresses had broken zippers, tears, stains, or worn/pilling fabric. Even Goodwill doesn't accept donations like that. However, I did see other people trying things on who seemed to be enjoying themselves, so there must be gems in there! read more

Had an amazing time at my appointment! I had been here before the pandemic a few years ago with a friend, looking for a bridal dress for a photoshoot. Even that experience was a great time I knew I would come visit again to look for an actual bridal gown. I wanted something classy, not too over the top. They have a bunch of dresses to look through and are always adding to their closet. :) I made an hour appointment, showed up and was given a turndown of my private fitting room, where the bathrooms were and what area to start shopping in. I had my appointment around the same time as 3 other gals and there was still plenty of room for us all to run around with our entourage to look for dresses without running into each other. The place itself is beautiful, full of natural light and SO many racks of dresses. We scheduled an appointment online, and as soon as we got there, we were ushered to the back area with separate areas for the brides trying on dresses. They even have a front area with a pedestal and even more natural light. The staff were amazing and helped us with everything. They even gave us a little bit of time since it was a slow day. I can't say enough how much I love and appreciate everything that Brides for a Cause does! As an advocate for giving clothing second-life, I love that Brides for a Cause gives second-life to wedding dresses, at prices that give more brides access, they have a fairly constant rotation of dresses in ALL the sizes, and all of the causes that their proceeds go to: it's a win-win-WIN! Yesterday, I had a 60-minute appointment to try on dresses. My sister came with me, and we had a great time shopping and trying on dresses. The attendees were super nice, very helpful, and never pushy. The lighting is nice, and the dressing rooms have plenty of space to walk around in your dress, plus seating for guests (and, from a recommendation I got before my appt, for me to sit in the dress). Today, because I didn't buy a dress yesterday, I went to the Dress Dash event (got my ticket when they came available on Monday morning!), and even though it was just me and I only had 30-minutes, the attendees were super helpful with getting dresses to and from my room, as well as helping me get zipped up. I have been to this store several times to look for a dress and wedding accessories, I live close by so multiple trips were easy for me. I bought my dress elsewhere but was able to find cute accessories for my wedding. I bought a cape here and took it to a seamstress to repurpose it into a veil. I also bought several cute tops to wear during my wedding week. The first time I went into the store I was helped by Nancy. She did an amazing job making me feel comfortable and allowed me to relax and have fun during a very stressful dress shopping day. Each time I have come to the store I have been greeted by a different sales associate who has been kind and very helpful. I got a beautiful dress. It was damaged and other damaged items were discounted but not this. All tags say as is but the one with a broken zipper was discounted and torn buttons not. I had been very excited about coming here because of their reputation and my strong belief in both reusing clothe and donating to good causes, but I was beyond disappointed in my experience. Not only were the dresses were in poor condition - with most dresses having visble pilling fabric, stains, holes, missing beading/lace/etc., but most dresses were $700-900. The company celebrates donating 90% of profits to charity, but it is unconscionable to charge those prices for clothing in that condition. Additionally, It was difficult to look through the dresses as they were organized only by size and not by style, which made the 1 hr window feel incredibly rushed. The space had an unclean odor, the lighting was horrible, and the music was very unusual in a non-bridal way. This place is MAGIC. I originally made an appointment here because I wanted to try on styles of dresses that aren't from the current year because I didn't find anything I absolutely *loved* at my first appointment at a different bridal shop. I had another appointment in a few weeks at a different bridal store, so brides for a cause was in the middle and I felt it was a good opportunity to be able to narrow down what I wanted! I was actually planning on finding a style I liked and then going onto StillWhite or Poshmark to buy the dress after going to the different dress stores in the area. Everything in the store is organized by size! You get your own room and can drop your coat/bag off in there then you're off to the racks! You can grab 5 at a time to try, and for any dress you want to put back, there's a separate rack for that. Everything is hung up very nicely. The tags are also quite helpful. It will tell you if it's been dry cleaned, whether or not it's a sample, and I think retail price if applicable. It will also say the brand too. I specifically was looking for Jenny Yoo dresses, and there were actually quite a few! And very recent styles too, some of which are actually online right now! This place is really clean and organized. The ladies here were also super helpful! I came on my own because it was a workday morning, and they were always so kind about checking in. I ended up trying around 8 or 9 dresses total, and this included time spent sending my mom pictures (I came alone, so I was also the one zipping everything up. Buttons I had to leave alone ). For my last round I think I only grabbed one dress and then saw one that I was like I'll come back to this if I have time. But I was like you know what, I have to change out of my clothes anyway, might as well grab this dress too! And let me tell you...this last dress was THE ONE! It was something I never thought I would have loved, and looking at photos of it online, I definitely would not have tried it. I am SO glad I did, and the best part is it fit perfectly! The only alteration that needs to be done is hemming the bottom. It felt so good walking out of the store with my dress but it felt even better knowing that my purchase is going towards a good cause. This was my first - and ended up being my last - stop on trying on wedding dresses. After months of looking at styles online I felt I just needed to get my butt in some dresses to figure out what styles I actually liked. After reading this was low pressure I decided to book an appointment and bring along my mom and bridesmaids. I told everybody I wasn't buying anything. It is truly a hunt but it was fun to browse through all the styles because they are all over the place. I decided to try on a variety and quickly found a bunch of nopes. One dress I had grabbed and said "this is so fluffy and ridiculous I must try it on" and OH MY GOD IT WAS THE DRESS. But I was so in the mindset I wasn't buying anything that day I put it on hold to go down the street and discuss it. Needless to say I was back first thing next, tried it on again and bough it. Thankfully my brief hesitation saved me another 21% as they're running a 21% off the 21st of each day. $720 for a $3200 dress! It will need some cleaning, repair and altering but it will still be a bargain. Service is nice but COVID times so bring people to help you in and out. I really appreciated they squeezed us in on a busy Saturday last minute to come back re-try on the dress and buy it. Everything is separated by size so it was easy to look through the dresses. I was very pleasantly surprised at the selection! Being a charity shop, I expected well used and out of date dresses. Not the case at all!! My daughter tried on a total of 10 dresses and ended up buying number 5! I was worried that she would have to "settle" for a dress but she was in love with it. My husband and I decided to get married in Vegas within 2 weeks of getting engaged so I thought I was out of luck for finding an actual wedding dress. I didn't have the time to get a dress altered and I'm 5'4. I made an appointment and went by myself. The stylist was very welcoming and told me if I needed help getting any dresses zipped to let her know and she'd be happy to assist. I wasn't the only solo bride there and she made us both feel supported and excited. The selection of the dresses were very diverse which was awesome. They even have veils, headpieces, belts, hair pins and overcoats. My dress dream board has always been filled with the designer Jenny Yoo, but with the $1200+ price and time crunch I was on that wasn't going to be an option. Then low and behold as I was on my final look around I see a Jenny Yoo dress in MY SIZE on the rack. I put it on and it had been altered TO MY HEIGHT. I was in disbelief, so ecstatic! First, it felt so good to spend money at an organization that was doing such great work. But I really thought I would have to sacrifice my ideal dress to make it work and that was not the case at all. I found so many I loved I actually had a hard time deciding which one to buy. I am on a budget as well as getting married in just 3 months, and I was able to take my dress home with me day of as well as the price was perfectly in my budget which was honestly insane. So very budget friendly as well as time frame if you are on the same boat. Something that was nice also was getting to roam through the dresses myself and pick them! I loved that I was able to do that and my party that came got to help. Yes, the selection is crazy! But they are so packed in that you can't even see them. They were all stuck to each other. Most of them we tried on were used and you could tell. Broken lace, zipper not working, a little dirty (or used feeling). They do have sample dresses that are not used. The ones we tried on were more money than other places and they are used!
