I used to pass by the store every day on my way to work and I'm so happy to say I bought my wedding dress from here. We were also able to customize the skirt with a split that I liked with another AK dress style. I brought it to bridal alterations and the fit is so good that I only need a bustle. The bridal tailor was very impressed and said this is rare, only 1-2% of dresses she sees. Very welcome news and I feel like a&bé and Lauren in particular deserve a special shout out for her excellent guidance and spot on accuracy. A big relief not to have to spend another hundreds or thousands on alterations.

My dress pickup was unfortunately not the dream moment I had hoped it would be. When I arrived, the…read moredress waiting for me in my room was the same style I had ordered, but it had beading, even though I had specifically ordered the dress without beading. I almost had a panic attack. The shop apologized and was able to locate and switch it out for my actual dress, so I understand that mistakes happen. What was much more concerning to me was the sizing and fit of the dress. My bust measurement was 34" at the time of purchase, but the dress size I received had a 40" bust in a corseted top. I understand that my dress was ordered in a larger size to accommodate my hips, but I was never informed that this would mean having such a significant difference in the bust or that it could be extremely difficult to alter. I ended up taking the dress to my seamstress multiple times to get it to fit properly. While we were eventually able to make it work, the cups and corset were still larger than I ideally would have wanted, and it was a stressful and expensive process during an already stressful time. My biggest takeaway for other brides is to be sure to thoroughly discuss sizing and alterations with the bridal shop before placing your order. If your measurements require sizing up for one area of the dress, ask how that will affect the fit in other areas.. especially with structured or corseted dresses that may be difficult to alter. I wish this had been explained to me upfront. I ended up having my seamstress add capped sleeves and a custom veil- overall the look came together but the experience overall was kind of like a rollercoaster.

She was never super friendly during our visits, even forgetting that we had an appointment once or twice. She was pretty cold when I brought my mom and mother in law in.. not very fun during a very exciting time. The most important thing... the dress never had much done to it whenever I had an appointment! She would literally start sowing on it when I'd come in and made very simple and sometimes careless details that I had to ask to have redone with more care. The worst thing, the day of picking up the dress, she was not done with it, finishing it in front of me. She DID NOT FINISH THE SEAMS UNDER MY DRESS. It was literally tattered seams underneath and I had a train, so if it flipped over, it was tattered shreds. She said this was normal, to preserve the soft look on the outside. I took it to two seamstresses afterward and no one said this was normal or acceptable. But we had no time to fix it before the wedding so I wore it anyway. During my wedding I felt self conscious and worried that my dress would show the tatters or would fall apart... as I had jeweled straps and the jewels were very lose. I had to donate my dress afterward because it was just falling apart... and they would only accept the dress because they could use the fabric to practice on lol, they couldn't even fix it to be worn again. Sorry ladies, don't let this happen to you. Get the dress and the experience you deserve, somewhere professional.

I contacted Terri and went to her studio in her house in NE Portland. Let's just say that the woman is AMAZINGLY talented. She went to Parsons School of Design in LA and her abilities are incredible. We sat down and discussed different dresses and styles, fabrics and details. She brought out fabric samples and talked about the pros and cons of each. The experience was incredibly fun...we built a dress that was exactly what I had wanted on all fronts (fabric, shape, detail). Her work was incredibly gorgeous AND the cost of the dress when all was said and done was cheaper than any of the dresses I had tried on in the shops. ***APOLOGIES FOR THE LENGTHY REVIEW IN ADVANCE*** This was my first bridal shop of the day. I had spoken with my stylist, Stephanie, prior to my visit so she could go through the inventory and pull some great options to start with. When I arrived the dresses were waiting for me in my own private suite (amazing). After trying on a couple I decided to COMPLETLY flip my idea of the gown I wanted and asked Stephanie to pull some totally different options. She was so happy to do so and very quickly returned. Her presence was absolutely perfect, she was attentive yet still allowed me and my guests some personal space to talk amongst ourselves which made me feel even more comfortable. At the end of my appointment Stephanie asked what other shops I was going to visit, offered a return visit if I wanted to try on any dress again the following day, and even asked that I please send her a picture of the final choice if I did have luck elsewhere. I ended up finding a gown at a different shop later that day and sent her a picture along with a little thank you for such a great experience at the shop. She responded with the sweetest most genuine response. Although I did not end up purchasing my wedding gown from this shop, I would highly recommend anyone searching for a gown to try it out. REQUEST STEPHANIE! :) Stephanie, if you do see this, thank you so much for making me feel so special! You were truly wonderful! The shop itself was quite clean and the staff all seemed friendly. Charlotte's is one of the few places in Portland where you'll wish you had shopped for your wedding dress. If not for the array of stunning gowns for almost any preference, the customer service blows other bridal boutiques out of the water. The associates were incredibly helpful, intelligent, sweet, and resourceful. Upon making the appointment, Lindsey greeted my good friend and I with a great attitude and calm demeanor. She asked some great questions that would give her an idea of what I would like for a wedding dress. She brought back some amazing options for me to try, giving me feedback on each dress and what she thought of it. She was honest and gave me the rundown of what she thought I would like about each of the dresses. At one point in the appointment, she allowed my friend and I to browse the dresses out on the floor. She was incredibly helpful, telling us what racks to stick within in order to remain within my budget. Not once did she make us feel rushed or pressured, she was a real rockstar. I ended up falling in love with a simple structured, classic style dress, however, needed a day or so to gather my thoughts. Lindsey was great and reached out to me via email a couple days later, not to pressure me into a purchase but to genuinely check in. I cannot think of a better shopping experience. I am extremely dissapponted in the staff and management here. Today we went looking for my best friends wedding dress and we ended up finding one that looked amazing on her, however, there was a snag on the dress and so when we approached a sales person, Lindsay, she was anything but pleasant. Her response was "well I'm not a seamstress so I can't promise you that, you need to talk to a seamstress". Even if you are busy, part of your JOB is to provide an answer, not a snarky remark. Do you have a seamstress in site? Could you have at least said you did and give us information or better yet, that should be an employee you always have on site seeing as clearly the sales people do not know any helpful answers. The polite thing to do would have apologized for not knowing but tried to provide us as much info as you can, find an employee who knows and or provided us the info. After a phone call was made to talk to the manager about Lindsay's attitude, we were ignored and then told "we do not want the reputation", it's a little late for that when even management themselves seem to ignore their almost clients. I will make sure that I tell every single upcoming bride I know to not waste their time or money on this place. So unfortunate this should have been an amazing experience. read more

This has been the worst experience regarding our wedding. Charlottes encouraged our brides maid (Size 6, 115lbs) to order a size 12 dress. She forced the size 12 and said that was how their sizes worked. Two weeks before the wedding, when our bridesmaid went to pick it up, it fell off of her! They are not helping or making any effort to right this wrong. The alteration cost 60% of the original dress cost. Molly, when talking with us, said it was our responsibility to pay for alterations, even though the four measured there were up to 6 sizes off with the measurements. I feel that this place somehow has personal/financial gain in making sure additional cost is required. Maybe this is her bonus month, at the expense of her customers. She was rude, and lent no apology when questioned. This business is not here for anyone's benefit than its own. She is a horrible business owner and has no regard for retaining half-witted/borderline blonde bimbo staff, or staying loyal to customers who are already overpaying for mediocre attire. Please anyone wanting excited for they're big day of bliss, save yourself a headache right before your special day, and just find anywhere else to buy through. read more

I had 2 referrals from friends to go here and find my dress! I called and set an appointment and when I showed up I was immediately sold! Stephanie helped me and she started by putting me and my mom and sister in our own room and offered water. She put me in this white soft fluffy robe to wait in while she brought in some dresses for me to try! She asked what styles I've been thinking and after about 7 minutes I was trying on some of the prettiest gowns! I tried on the first 2 which I loved but of course not being able to get both she went out and immediately found a dress that was like the 2 in 1! It was perfect and when I tried it on I was sold and the rest is history. They have a finance plan with 0 interest that you can only use if you apply for BEFORE you put any money in towards your dress so be careful w that. I paid for mine in 2 easy payments. Half and half. Overall I had the most simple but wonderful experience there and I recommend it to ALL SOON TO BE BRIDES. Ps. I spoke with Stephanie, my bridal consultant, on FaceTime the day before and she had reviewed my Pinterest board prior to that conversation. When I mentioned details I loved I had a particular dress from my Pinterest board in mind and she knew exactly which one I was thinking about. When I came in for my appointment she had 4 dresses picked out for me. This girl seriously deserves a raise!! All 4 dresses were absolutely stunning and each incorporated the details I had told her I loved but in 4 very different ways! It was such a difficult choice because she seriously just picked choices that were so spot on. My wedding is in 5 months so she even took the time beforehand to make sure the dresses she pulled were already done or late in their production so that it was a guarantee I could get the dress in time for alterations. She was so so helpful. This experience was amazing. My sister got her dress there 5 years ago and both of us had the most amazing experience. Tons of friends I know also got their dresses here. Such a beautiful shop full of awesome friendly staff. I had a great time, they all made me feel so good and comfortable! I came into my appt and the gal that was helping me looked at the pictures I showed her of the dresses I liked and she brought about 10 in for me to try on, helping me in and put of all of them and finding accessories to go with all the dresses. Then I sported one in the corner of my eye and asked to try it on she quickly went and got it, and that happened to be my dress. She said I was beaming when I put it on and I was in love. The staff was so friendly and explained everything to me, she checked that my dress was stocked and told me the time frame that it would arrive and it came in on time! She didn't pressure me into buying any dresses, she didn't tell me her own opinions unless I asked what she thought, she was cracking jokes with me about what the family in the lobby would say when they saw each dress. I had appointments for four different bridal salons the weekend my mother was in town to help me look for my dress. We went to Charlotte's Weddings and had such a great experience (plus found my dress!) that we canceled all the other appointments right afterward. The staff I interacted with were all so down-to-earth. From the very first phone call to set-up the bridal appointment, everyone has been so warm and welcoming. Other bridal salons made me feel so nervous when I told them my wedding was in 4 months saying I needed to buy something immediately and would be only left to purchase sample dresses because of the date of my wedding was too close. When I spoke to a gal at Charlotte's she made me feel at ease saying there are plenty of dresses to choose from in that time frame and not to worry. Plus the day of my appointment they would only show dresses that I could have available for my wedding date and wouldn't have to pay to get rushed. The overall experience was fun and stress-free! Charlotte's was the second place that I tried on dresses and I had such a fabulous experience! First off, the store is so cute and well organized that it was like walking into a bridal fairytale with beautiful dresses just lined up waiting to be tried on! Everyone was so nice and welcoming when me and my party walked in. My consultant was Ryann and she was so wonderful! She sat down with me and asked what my dream dress looked like in my head. The dresses she pulled for me to try on were great as well. Of course not every dress was the one for me but each one had at least one aspect that I told her I was looking for so it was fun to try on different styles. I ended up falling in love with the very first dress I tried on and I ended up purchasing it! I can't wait to put it on again when it comes in! HUGE shoutout to Stephanie and all the wonderful ladies at Charlotte's! Stephanie created such a smooth, relaxed, and fun dress shopping experience from beginning to end. (Plus champagne and sparkling cider make any shopping trip better!) She caught on to my vision immediately, and found a gorgeous dress that checked all my wish-list boxes. Throughout the process she was so encouraging and enthusiastic--no annoying sales pitches or pressure to buy right away, just helping me figure out what was right for me. I couldn't have asked for a better consultant. Stephanie got the dress marked down to the very top limit of my budget, but I was a little uncomfortable with spending that much when I knew I could get a cheaper dress elsewhere. A couple days later I told the staff that the price was the only thing holding me back, and they were generous enough to discount it a little more to comfortably fit my budget. My Charlotte's experience was absolutely perfect. This was my first of 3 stops and I didn't feel like I needed to visit the other two shops. Everyone we encountered was welcoming and kind. The dressing room had plenty of room for the 3 ladies I brought with me. I was given a plush robe and necessary undergarments. I felt like I was given a wide variety of choices and every dress matched the "feel" of my wedding. The woman who helped me took every comment I made into consideration when she pulled more dresses. She did all of this while always staying under my budget. She did bring one dress back that was slightly over my budget but she told me before I put it on. After I purchased the dress, communication was still great and my dress arrived just 3 months after purchase! I will be sending anyone who asks to Charlotte's! I had an absolutely wonderful time shopping at Charlotte's for my wedding dress! My consultant, Robin, was very helpful and really listened to what I wanted. She pulled dresses within my budget and that all had elements of things I said that I wanted. Robin helped me find my perfect dress and envision certain alterations I will be making to the dress. Overall, she was very professional, knowledgable, and friendly. I would highly recommend booking an appointment with her at Charlotte's! Charlotte's is a bright and friendly shop with an expansive selection of dresses. I was amazed at how many dresses there were in the silhouette I wanted and with at least one of the elements I wanted (lace, straps/sleeves, illusion neckline) and all of these dresses were within my low/modest budget. When I arrived at Charlotte's I had been wedding dress shopping at three other stores, and I was pretty worn out. I went into my appointment feeling very reserved because I felt that it would be a lot of work to explain what I was looking for, only to walk away from another store empty handed. I purchased my wedding dress at Charlotte's and my experience was lovely, through and through. The space itself is beautiful and the individual rooms are equally lovely. My consultant, Maggie, really listened to what I said in terms of my style, vision, and budget. Not once did I feel pressured to purchase a gown that I wasn't in love with. She listened as I tried on each dress and sincerely invested in the special moment. Maggie facilitated an atmosphere of honesty and joy, which I sincerely appreciate. I was fortunate enough to purchase my dress and earrings from Charlotte's while they were having a sale, so the price turned out to be lower than my allotted budget, which is always a plus! Charlotte's was the first and only bridal salon I visited. I had such a fabulous experience and wonderful consultant, Stephanie, that I cancelled other appointments I had and said "Yes to the dress!" It is a beautiful store, the staff are all very sweet and knowledgeable about the inventory and how to do their job. I had both a private room to change in and a large private room to show dresses to my family. I felt taken care of and never felt as though I was being sold a wedding dress. Stephanie knows her job well, brought me dresses that matched my wishes and helped style the dress to my desire with a veil and sash. This place is outstanding! After going to 8 wedding dress shops I was thoroughly surprised and impressed by Charlotte's! Our consultant, Stephanie, was so amazing and fun to work with, it was like working with a long list sister. She listened to exactly what I wanted and after trying on dresses at 8 different stores, she was able to find me the perfect match within the first set of dresses she pulled. On top of amazing service, the ambience, location, and parking are excellent. The selection of accessories and bridesmaids dresses are amazing as well. Had such a great experience at Charlottes! Was the first place I went to the on dresses with my mom and wasn't sure what to expect. We had a wonderful very helpful attendant who chatted with us for a while, I had no idea what I wanted so she brought back a variety of dresses to help narrow it done. After two rounds of dresses I put in the one! At first I wasn't sure and went to 3 other bridal salons first but came back the next day to Charlottes as no one could beat their selection. Overall great experience lots of options in my price range, ($1200 and below, the dress I got was less then $1000 and so beautiful!!), definitely reccomend! read more

This was my first stop for wedding dress shopping and had another appointment scheduled for later that day, but ended up canceling the second appointment because we found my dress! Our consultant did an excellent job of incorporating my budget along with my style preferences and found "the one" on dress #2! I wanted to make sure it was the one by trying on a total of ~8 dresses, but we all kept going back to #2. Charlotte's was the only wedding boutique I went to in October for my wedding dress and the only one I needed to go to. This place is not only the cutest little store but the staff is beyond sweet and accommodating. Their wedding dress selection is spectacular and good quality along with amazing prices! I found my dream dress here all thanks to consultant Ryann (whom I recommend!) we got the suite which is about $180 for a giant room with huge mirrors! They pamper you with some gifts and a huge basket full of goodies for you and your guests as well! I highly recommend Charlotte's to anyone! read more

Her father offered to give her the dress so we were excited to finally see her in a white gown. My Bestie is not the type to wear dresses let alone white. She loves black. Leelu was spectacular at listening to my friend's needs and studying her inspo pics. This was our very first time seeing her in a dress and we were all shocked that throughout the 90 minute appointment my friend was gravitating towards a white dress. Leelu did a fantastic job at letting us make requests. The two requests that our group had was to see my friend in a mermaid gown, which is a childhood dream of hers, and with a veil. We learned that although my best friend has the body of a goddess and looks good in anything, that that was not her preferred shape. We were fortunate enough to find a dress that made my friend happy. Leelu also talked us through the ordering process, shipping, and how to add black appliqué to give it a bit of that spooky vibe that my friend was going for. The shop has seamstresses they can refer you to as well as it is not a service offered in house. We did not purchase the day of as my friend needs to have some conversations with her dad just to make sure that it is within the budget he had in mind. However, I was pleasantly surprised at the cost of the dress! It's safe to say our visit was a huge success thanks to Leelu.

For my first time trying on wedding dresses, I could not have made a worst decision than going to…read morethis shop. TLDR: 1. Associate rushes you through the process, even has a timer that goes off to remind you of the 5min warning. 2. Associate pushes you to buy off the rack, almost makes it seem like it's not worth their time to order a new dress for you. 3. Associate allowed a random party to come into your private, timed, appointment. 4. Associate has very uncomfortable conversations with you in the dressing room. I had never looked at wedding dresses before and was very curious on about the styles that are offered. I informed the associate I wanted a simple dress; she showed me a selection of about 6 so we picked 2. As I waited for my sister to arrive, I continued to look through their selections. But as I continued to browse their options, the associate kept reminding me that usually brides only try on 1-2 to "decide" what style they liked so she heavily recommended I do that before picking out anything else. I agreed with her, but since my sister hadn't arrived yet, looking was my only option. I wasn't going to try on any dresses on without my sister present. She would tell me she's not rushing me but also rush me at the same time. She told me at least 3 times, this recommendation to not select anymore out. Once again, I did not want to start trying on dresses without my sister. In the midst of my private appointment, she let a group of 4 women in to "look really quick." She had a full conversation with them. When my sister arrived, it was so uncomfortable that she had to kick them out and ask them to leave. I was concerned I'd have to come out in a wedding dress with people I didn't even know looking at me. If I signed up for a shared space, I would not have minded. But given this place only allows private appointments, I find it very unprofessional. Regardless of waiting for my guest, it was inappropriate. The associate is very good at reminding you of the 60min appointment. Considering, she gave about 10 minutes of it to another party, I was even more offended when she had an alarm with a 5-minute warning. She thanked me for "letting them in." However, she never asked me if it was appropriate. As my sister inquired about a dress I was interested in and the timeline to order it, the associate went on a tangent about the European designers they work with, how exclusive they are, and that celebrities come all the way to their shop to buy these wedding dresses. She wouldn't give me an exact timeline of when the specific dress would arrive if we ordered. She was more interested in pushing me to buy off the rack and emphasizing to me the $500-$600 I would save. She informed me that unless I'm "serious" about buying a dress, the bridal shop will not "bother" the designer. From the moment stepping into the bridal shop, the associate gave me a lot of compliments. When my sister arrived, she also gave her compliments. As her and I got into the dressing room, she continued the compliment that both my sister and I look like "dolls" and continued to ask me what ethnicity I am. I am Chinese. To which she informed me "she can't ever tell." The compliments continued about my hair being so long and beautiful, but also that she lost a lot of her own hair and it was difficult to grow back. She then reminded me to "enjoy it" while I had all this hair. Though I understand the nicety of making a bride feel beautiful, the entire conversation was so bizarre. I felt so uncomfortable being in a tiny dressing room with her. My sister was 20 minutes late to the appointment. In no way is that the associates fault. I did not expect her to accommodate for that. I did not need more than 30mins to try on the 4 dresses. It was the entire experience that was rushed. There was no breathing room to look at the options in their showroom. How she talked to me was rushed. How she presented options to me was rushed. How she informed me that certain dresses I was looking at is $3K when she never asked me about a budget. Overall, regardless of being liking one of the dresses, I hated my time there. I am disappointed that that was my first experience trying a wedding dress and that's the service I received.
