We took the pasta class after stumbling upon a yelp event. Was immediately attracted to the pricing - $25 per person whereas other places are usually $50+?! What a great find! It's a non-profit organization? Even better! It's located in downtown? It just keeps getting better and better. We signed up online easily and got ourselves registered. It was the first time in their new location (The Art Institute) and I can tell Chef Jacob was very excited. You can sense the passion from the bottom of his heart. The location is easy to find and fully equipped - amazing burners, new knifes, washing stations etc. When we got there all the ingredients were nicely spread out in a very spacious room. The class had about 12 students and we followed Jacob's demo closely. Overall had a great time, it was very relaxed and I enjoyed the sense of ease with Chef Jacob's skills and knowledge. They offer a punchcard at a discounted price, so I purchased one and will be back to learn more soon!

The cooking classes that this place offers are fantastic. They take recipes that seem truly daunting and make them easy for even idiots like me to understand! Tonight we made street tacos, and aside from making all the cutting and prep super simple, we got to enjoy them with our classmates. I feel like I made some really cool friends tonight. The classes are inexpensive and packed with fundamentals for people who find cooking to be a sometimes difficult chore.

absolutely the best cooking lesson that I have ever had! The executive director teaches the classes provides all of the food down at the brand-new remodeled Fred Meyer's kitchen in downtown Portland. you can purchase your own beer or cider and take it up to the class while you cook. he teaches so many techniques it's definitely worth the money something I would register with another person so you can get a better discount but you can always request a class & have your own people come through via sponsorship.

My man and our Poke. BONUS: You can BYOB. Cheers!

This is the first time I've reviewed something I made, and y'all...it was bomb. So bomb. But only because Chef Jacobsen is an outstanding instructor who made our Monday night cooking class an absolute blast. I can make poke at home now. So can my husband. I recommend these cooking classes not only because I can't wait to come back, but also because what they're doing for the community is making Portland a better, healthier home for all of us. And when that combines with kimchi, you just can't lose. Oh yeah, and they give you a glass of wine or beer and allow BYOB if you want to get a little more loose.

Such a fun class. Adequate room. Plenty of equipment. I did the gumbo class. The instructor was friendly. Picked up some helpful knifing skills from him. Since the gumbo would have taken at least 2 hours to simmer we did the majority of the work and then took it home to finish. They had the finish product ready for in class dinner. There's also beer included! Great class to learn new skills, and meet new people. I would come back for their tikka masala class.

I took my first class at Feed the Mass tonight. I took the lumpia class and had a blast. I was drawn to this class because it was unique. I loved that the class size was small, and everyone had a chance to work on our dish. The ingredients were easy. Some places have classes with dishes that use ingredients that are hard to find or very expensive. I can definitely see myself making lumpias again. The timing of the class was perfect and only having two dishes to cook really makes it likely that I will recreate the dish again. I can't wait to take more classes!

This place is excellent. It's the perfect balance between instruction and fun. Chef Jacob is really great at explaining and educating and critiquing without making you feel bad.

Either about food or technique in the kitchen! This place was a blast I would def recommend for team building or date nights or even as a family activity. Claire was our host and she was AMAZING, we got to do all the fun stuff and she was there to clear and clean our dishes, provide us with tools and ingredients PLUS while we were eating she boxed up our leftovers (yes, you will definitely have leftovers)!!! Great experience, if you are interested in taking a cooking class this is definitely the place to do it! They can and will curate the menu to meet the needs of food allergies, diets and preferences. Appetizer - crab rangoons/ cream cheese wontons Meal - Pad Thai Dessert - Coconut sticky rice w/ mangoes on top Thanks for having us, hoping we get to come back again someday soon!

The food we made during their chicken piccata class came out deliciously and Tashi was very patient and thorough in checking in and making sure that our food was coming out well throughout the process. Inside has a nice dining table/lounge area upon first entering with a full bar, coffee station, and photo booth. Behind the curtain lays out the actual cooking stations with just about every gadget you could need to cook an amazing dish. The setting and size felt perfect to allow my partner and I feel comfortable in our own space while also allowing intimacy with the space between the other learners and the chef. I would 100% recommend this spot if you are interested at all in taking a cooking class or are just looking for a fun way to spend a date night.

The…read moreclass was well planned, there was not a moment wasted, while also never feeling rushed. The space itself is spacious & tidy, broken up into a workspace, eating space and even a room where I imagine a smaller class or party space may be able to be set up. We had a full class, and stations were prepared (ingredients measured, tools set, etc) upon entering. We were guided through preparing the jiaozi (Chinese dumpling) wrapper dough, filling (while dough rested), then filling & wrapping. After being showing the filling & wrapping, we were returned back to our stations, where Zach rounded with the pairs for 1:2 time with the trickiest parts of the process: the folding! Quantity wise, we made more than enough, and the class was WELL worth the price in value, in my opinion: we had enough for the group to be well fed at the end of the class, and we also brought home another 8 to steam at home, which made for a good sized side for another meal. We honestly could have even made another several too, but it does get tiring on newbie hands after a while at it, not to mention wanting to chow down once you start smelling them steaming!! All in all, I'm glad I stumbled upon this class, and I'm sure my son & I will be visiting Cookshop again for other sessions. As an added bonus, we received the recipes to make jiaozi at home, so this also isn't a one & done experience like some new class/hobbies sometimes tend to be!
