Either about food or technique in the kitchen! This place was a blast I would def recommend for team building or date nights or even as a family activity. Claire was our host and she was AMAZING, we got to do all the fun stuff and she was there to clear and clean our dishes, provide us with tools and ingredients PLUS while we were eating she boxed up our leftovers (yes, you will definitely have leftovers)!!! Great experience, if you are interested in taking a cooking class this is definitely the place to do it! They can and will curate the menu to meet the needs of food allergies, diets and preferences. Appetizer - crab rangoons/ cream cheese wontons Meal - Pad Thai Dessert - Coconut sticky rice w/ mangoes on top Thanks for having us, hoping we get to come back again someday soon!

The food we made during their chicken piccata class came out deliciously and Tashi was very patient and thorough in checking in and making sure that our food was coming out well throughout the process. Inside has a nice dining table/lounge area upon first entering with a full bar, coffee station, and photo booth. Behind the curtain lays out the actual cooking stations with just about every gadget you could need to cook an amazing dish. The setting and size felt perfect to allow my partner and I feel comfortable in our own space while also allowing intimacy with the space between the other learners and the chef. I would 100% recommend this spot if you are interested at all in taking a cooking class or are just looking for a fun way to spend a date night.

I've taken several classes here after being introduced through a Yelp Elite event. They had me at…read morestreet tacos! Chef Valentine is so nice and patient, the classes are fun, and at the end, you realize it's surprisingly easy to make good, healthy, affordable food that is delicious! I've taken the pork ramen class, which was my favorite. The broth, cooks in 30 minutes in an Instapot, and it was so rich and flavorful. I went out an Instapot the next day! We also made the noodles from scratch. It took a lot of kneeding to get the texture where it needed to be, but it was worth it! I haven't made the noodles at home yet because it took two of us to manage the pasta sheets and pasta machine, which I don't have. But someday! Also enjoyed the class where we learned how to make Saag Paneer, one of my favorite Indian dishes. Once you learn the technique, you can substitute chicken or lamb for the paneer. Quick, delicious, and far less money than if buying out. What makes these cooking classes so enjoyable is the ease and comfort of the atmosphere, created by Chef Valentine, and the ability to get to know the other people in the class. You all prep and cook together and then share the meal as a community. You can bring beer, wine or hard cider - and if you forget, go downstairs and buy some! People tend to share what they bring which adds to the sense of community. Chef Valentine has taught me knife skills, which I thought I had! Wrong. I was doing all the work and not letting the knife do it's job. It's all about the tools and using them properly. These classes have also taught me patience. Cutting all the veggies for the ramen takes time, skill and patience to get uniformed cuts. Prepping and measuring first makes the actual cooking process go smoother. I've always been a cook, but never much of a baker because baking is about being precise with measurements, which requires patience. After taking several cooking classes at Feed the Mass, I've learned how patience pays off. This Christmas, I baked about a dozen varieties of cookies, including baklava. They all turned out wonderful, according to my friends who gobbled them up and I owe it to Chef Valentine! Classes are located on the second floor of Whole Foods in the Pearl. You can park on the street or in Whole Foods garage. If you spent $10 on groceries, parking is free. Love taking classes here! I bought a book of 5 passes so classes end up being $25 per class, a bargain since you also eat a meal! What I really like is the mission of a Feed the Mass, which is to educate and provide classes to those who can't afford to pay for classes, to teach them how to make a healthy and affordable meals for their family. A meal that costs less than fast food and is far more delicious. And healthier. Taking classes supports this Non-Profit's mission. There are classes for kids, date nights, family classes and even classes where you learn how to prep a few meals that stretch out for a week. So take some classes and learn new skills, have fun and pay it forward! It's a great experience and a fun way to spend an evening with friends, family or as a single...once you walk in the door, you are part of the community.

No matter your skill level (unless, maybe, if you're already a professional chef), you'll learn something new. We made ramen noodles from scratch (!), which were an amazing consistency and soaked up the flavor of the broth well. We also learned proper knife techniques. Chef Valentine has a real passion for cooking and teaching others this important life skill as a means to a healthier lifestyle. A portion of class fees goes towards scholarships for classes for those in need. On the down side, this may have ruined me for instant and non-housemade restaurant ramen, as ours was so good! Now I'll really be saying, I could/should have made this at home!

The…read moreclass was well planned, there was not a moment wasted, while also never feeling rushed. The space itself is spacious & tidy, broken up into a workspace, eating space and even a room where I imagine a smaller class or party space may be able to be set up. We had a full class, and stations were prepared (ingredients measured, tools set, etc) upon entering. We were guided through preparing the jiaozi (Chinese dumpling) wrapper dough, filling (while dough rested), then filling & wrapping. After being showing the filling & wrapping, we were returned back to our stations, where Zach rounded with the pairs for 1:2 time with the trickiest parts of the process: the folding! Quantity wise, we made more than enough, and the class was WELL worth the price in value, in my opinion: we had enough for the group to be well fed at the end of the class, and we also brought home another 8 to steam at home, which made for a good sized side for another meal. We honestly could have even made another several too, but it does get tiring on newbie hands after a while at it, not to mention wanting to chow down once you start smelling them steaming!! All in all, I'm glad I stumbled upon this class, and I'm sure my son & I will be visiting Cookshop again for other sessions. As an added bonus, we received the recipes to make jiaozi at home, so this also isn't a one & done experience like some new class/hobbies sometimes tend to be!

We…read moreappreciated how easy communication with Jojo the owner was and the online booking made it super easy and straightforward. One of the main reasons we wanted to do a party here was that there was a party room and we loved the idea of each child getting to decorate their own cake. We had 11 kids at her party and half got fetti flavor cakes to decorate and the other half had chocolate. They also offer a vegan chocolate option and a gluten sensitive fetti option with no up-charge. The party host was awesome in explaining the process and keeping the kids engaged. We opted to start with apron decorating ($3 per child) for the first 15-20 mins. We also selected for there to be fresh popcorn popped for the kids to eat. All decorators were give a cake, white frosting, 2 other frosting colors (preselected by the birthday girl), 2 fondant colors (preselected by the birthday girl) and 2 sprinkle options (preselected by the birthday girl). All the kids had a blast decorating their cakes. Afterwards the kids had a lot of fun doing photo sessions with the picture booth in the party room. All pictures were sent via a link to me and I was able to share with all the parents post party. We opted to bring in pizza from Costco for the kids which worked out great since it's so close by. I sent a picture of an example of a cake that my daughter liked and Jojo nailed the design. All kids went home with an apron and a custom cake they designed. The party host was great at making sure everyone got a cake box with their name on it. I can't say enough great things about the party at Cake Hoopla. I would highly recommend having your kid's birthday party there.
