    Altengartz food truck

The amazing Altengartz food truck is at Montgomery Park. I loved their original brats when they were at the 10th & Alder food court (RIP) and now love their vegan brats!

This is my second or third trip eating here since 2011/2012... it's been a while and still tastes great. I lived in Germany for a while, Hanover, and glad to see I can still find authentic German cuisine in Portland. There were actually a few German restaurants back in 2010/2011 and since they have faded, unfortunately. Happy to see this one is still here. I ordered, of course, an original single bratwurst with onions, garlic and sauerkraut. So simple, yet so delicious and filling. I could've ordered another, but I need control... I highly recommend this place if you're looking for top of the line, fresh made and authentic German food. They have plenty of other options too and apple strudel. Check their site for the location they are currently at as it changes.

I'm not sure how the food is because I couldn't eat much of it. The blackstone top must not have been cleaned recently because there was black burnt residue all over the onions, kraut and bratwurst. Pretty bummed to toss $10.50.

This is one fine sausage truck. Altengartz brats are definitely home-made, and have that char grilled flavor you can only get by grilling. The bun was nice and toasty. I went with the garlic one, added sauerkraut and cheese it was delicious. Very friendly staff and speedy delivery. I'll be back!

I had the day off and decided to visit this new food cart pod in Beaverton. After walking around seeing all the options, I selected this cart for my lunch. I had a bratwurst combo. It's $10, until you add extras to the brat, which wasn't clear on the menu board. A really limited menu. I ordered and was told it would take about 10 minutes. Seems a bit long as they weren't busy, but I wasn't in a hurry. I have to say, the bratwurst is fantastic. Seasoned wonderfully and not at all greasy. I would definitely purchase the uncooked for the BBQ at home. The baked beans were awesome too. The right hint of mustard in them. The potato salad was good, but just a touch tangy for my tastes. It was all hot and fresh. I saw him making it up. I plan to be back.

Best Burger I've had in a long time. The baked beans are delicious also. It was just what I needed. and reasonably priced.

The sloppy fritz and potato salad are also standouts and everyone should try their Apple Strudel at least once in their life.

Not crowded, with attentive but chill service. We had a delicious burger (hubby) with a fabulous acid-forward set of toppings; a delicious lentil-and-every-German-meat soup (me, because I am an Official Soup Nerd); a delicious pretzel with dips (us). Chocolate pot de creme for dessert--so rich. It was Strong Bier month, which was really fun. Can't wait to go back.

We happened to come in during HH (weekdays 3-5) so we got a bretzel w/ beercheese of course ($8) and bratwurst served w/ sauerkraut, mustard & pickle spear ($9). The sauerkraut was a tad sweet IMO but the brat was juicy and tasty. We also got the Schweinsaxe (I think?) which was an enormous pork shoulder hunk w/ nice fried crackling skin on the outside & comes w/ red cabbage and spaetzl. Def recommend sharing this big boy. It was good and all but I wish there was a bit more flavor to it than just meat flavor. The only thing for me is I find German beers to all be a bit too sweet for me as someone that likes stronger beers like IPAs but not dark beers much.

So to Otto and Anita you must've raised some great children for their children to be as kind and thoughtful - as I said the food is amazing but your family in general is as well based on that experience. All I can say is a way to go and thank you. We will certainly be back - Dill Pickle Soup is the Bomb

The ambiance of Otto and Anita's is worn down and "much loved" - could use a refresh perhaps, but i guess their approach is let the food speak for the eatery. I had a special Swiss chicken which was delicious! The gravy that was generously applied was really deliciously cheesy without being too thick or rich. The chicken was perfectly crispy but perfectly moist. My only complaint os there choice of veggies. I am not a fan (at all) of spinach unless it's unrecognizable due to lots of butter and garlic, and this spinach is not that. Sadly i'm also not a fan of steamed carrots, the other veggie on the plate. The carrots were nicely steamed, not too soft, but not seasoned. The spätzle was really good too; flavorful, great texture, and moist. I loved my cup of dill pickle soup that came before my meal! It's strange to eat soup that sort of looks like mint chocolate chip ice cream, but tastes like really yummy dill pickles, but it works. Delicious! My husband had the chicken schnitzel. He had the same issue with the same vegetables, though he ate his, and he also would have preferred for the gravy to be on his chicken as opposed to in a little cup to the side. He loved the spätzle, but wanted more. (i thought the portion size of everything was just right) Hubby had a German pilsner and I had a very generous glass of a Merlot. we finished our evening with a piece of house-made German chocolate cake. Moist, and delicious. All of the cakes and pastries are said to be made in house, which exhausts me just thinking of that. There are lots of different pastries and cookies available for purchase in the front entrance as well. Great, slightly quirky place, that we definitely enjoyed very much.

I got a quick response from David who was very accommodating. It was slightly disheartening when we arrived at our reserved time they didn't have a table for us specifically. They said "sit anywhere" as they weren't busy but pretty much all of the tables (inside & out) were taken. We made it work for our party by moving tables around to accommodate. You place your order at the bar. We did a "family" style in which we ordered a number of options off the menu and enjoyed it together. Their fondue special was a good deal and we took plenty home in leftovers. The German potato salad was very mustardy (and I love mustard) but a little over the top. Not normally one to order Jägerschnitzel but it was very good (pork). The pretzel was slightly over done but tasty nonetheless. It was packed so service was as best as it could be.
