The quality, as promised, was lacking where the high gloss paint was used, and not done to our satisfaction. Yes, there was a problem, but there was also a happy ending! Based on past experiences with other companies, we figured they would push back against our complaints, and move on without rectifying the situation. Luckily, that was not the case. One of the most important qualities in any company's owners, is integrity. The owner here stood behind his work, and had a very experienced painter come back to completely redo the high gloss areas that were done incorrectly. It looks beautiful now! He also explained that since this job, they have taken steps to change some of their practices to improve in the future. Every company should take advantage of learning experiences, take accountability for mistakes, and put the customer first. Stubbins Painting is one of those companies. This sort of real integrity is rare, and is what makes me comfortable in recommending them!

They are now light and fluffy. My only gripe? The estimator, while very pleasant, ghosted my follow up question like a teenager avoiding chores. Also, despite my very specific request to contact my husband on paint day, they still called me--maybe they just missed my voice? That said, the quality of work was so impressive that I can forgive the slight communication hiccups. Would I hire them again? Absolutely. Would I bet money on the estimator replying to my follow up questions next time? Let's just say I'm not a gambler.

Neilson's Painting - After. Love how it pops. It looks so French and clean. The new colors are amazing.

His expertise in painting matching, saved the day. I received many bids on Yelp, and they all (except Walt) wanted to take advantage of my bad situation and charge 2x to get done in 48hrs. I highly recommend Walt for his honesty, price and expert paint matching. Thanks, Walt!

Walt had incredible reviews and we had him quote our job in March. Unfortunately, he was double…read moreour other two quotes so we couldn't proceed. Fast forward 7 months and we needed our cabinets painted which was a small portion of the original job. Note: We rebuilt all of our cabinets that Walt reviewed in March. 80% of the cabinets are now MDF and ready for painting vs having to paint over a stained wood as he previously quoted. I am going through IVF and thus delegated all current house projects to my husband, given anyone who knows what multiple IVF rounds entail knows you need to consciously minimize additional stress... My husband managed the process this month (thank God) and selected a vendor. We were scheduled for Walt and his team to paint two weeks ago-- yet I was still in IVF so Walt was very accommodating to reschedule us for after my cycle given you can't be around paint fumes, etc. Last night we spent an hour covering our living room, emptying cabinets, etc. I moved around several work meetings today to accommodate painters as well. At 6 AM my husband told me that Walt is no longer coming bc he realized he quoted us double 7 months ago. In summary, this well reviewed owner chose to not come to our house to provide a quote this month when my husband reached out. He provided a quote based on photos as he requested. Photos that look different than the original March job he quoted given the cabinet was rebuilt last month. He didn't ask to come to the house, nor ask for measurements. He then took my husband's deposit and scheduled the job based on the agreed upon price Walt provided. He then confirmed the job the day before. He then texted my husband at 3:31 AM this morning stating he realized he had previously quoted us double. He also stated he had been to our house twice which is absolutely false. He's been to our home once in March. What does this tell me? This well reviewed owner zip coded us- and pricing jobs based on the size of the home and caliber of the neighborhood vs the actual project itself. In summary since I know you might not have made it this far, Walt provided a quote to me 7 months ago for a completely different cabinet. He was 2X the price of other vendors. He provided an updated quote for the newly built cabinet and we signed a legal agreement and provided the requested deposit. Walt then cancelled on us the day of the project bc he realized what house/neighborhood we lived in and said it would be 2X the cost he had previously quoted us this month via the quoting process he requested-- pictures. He had access to our address the entire process so not sure what was "uncool" of us. I think today's actions by Walt were "uncool" and extremely unprofessional. That being said, I would NOT recommend Neilson's Painting based on this experience alone and all of the time wasted and stress incurred. Projects should be quoted on projects-- not the size or value of a home/neighborhood. Response to Walt: Actions speak louder than words. You failed to treat us w fairness, honesty or respect when you made false assumptions, sent unprofessional texts at 3:31 AM and decided to no show our project. Instead of taking ownership and accountability of your unprofessional actions this morning-- you continue to blame the customer. My husband did not offer for you to back out of our contracted project-- you informed my husband you would not be fulfilling the project. There is no scenario in which we wanted to pause this project given the prep we had already completed and the schedules we had adjusted to accommodate your team's schedule. It was not in the best interest of both parties-- it was in the best interest of Walt. There was zero misrepresentation by my husband. You asked for photos of the project and then you sent a quote. You did not ask to come to our home, you did not ask for measurements and you did not ask for additional photos. Since you have been in business for 34 years one would assume you would have a trusted process you follow to quote jobs and know how to quote your own work. It is absolutely insane to blame a customer for a quote YOU provided. Since Walt continues to edit his responses-- apparently Walt doesn't own a ladder bc that's the only equipment you need for these cabinets as we had cabinets in the exact same room and height painted last month. This guy is unbelievable. Walt, consumers are smart and informed-- your fabricated responses just continue to highlight your dishonesty. We have since gotten 4 quotes (licensed and bonded)--- all came in under our contracted job you bailed on Walt. So since you no showed our project because you claimed you should be charging us double your most recent quote-- that confirms you are DOUBLE market price. Was trying to gauge a new customer $1500+ and bailing on a legally executed contract worth all of the energy you are having to exert right now? Business must be tough if you needed $1500 that badly.

They took the time to properly prep the walls--power washing, filling cracks, sanding, and priming--which really showed in the final result. The paint job looks flawless with clean lines and smooth, even coats. They kept us updated throughout the project. What impressed me most was how clean they left everything--no mess at all. I would definitely hire them again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for quality painting work.

It's up on the second story and was an expensive outdoor/marine rated TV. I elected NOT to have it taken off before painting because I was afraid it would be broken. I felt that workers working around it with paintbrushes (it was covered with plastic) were less likely to damage it. But at the end of the day the screen was broken and I have had no one else working in my backyard that could have broken it. Maybe a ladder or a guy falling into it. I discovered it was broken about 10 days after the painters left. When I mentioned it to the owner, he denied it was his guys. If this was a regular TV, I would probably let it go. But this was a specialty TV. I asked for his insurance company so I could file a claim and he never sent it. It's obvious, once I paid, he just doesn't care. Additionally, everything he removed from under a covered deck....a set of weights, a weight bench, exercise trampoline etc., he left rusting in the bushes and never put it back after he painted. I called to ask him about it and he has still never put them back. I'm big on reviews as I use them to pick those who work in and on my house. Because he doesn't have the character to pay for things that he broke and he doesn't value things that I own by putting them in the bushes instead of moving them somewhere under a tarp and then putting them back....I cannot recommend this company. I will be putting this review in google and other sites. I will also be filing a small claims against him.
