Photo shows my completed tattoo of a hummingbird.

I wanted to get my third tattoo and it was my first time going to a tattoo studio in San Antonio. My friend highly recommended Altar Tattoo Studio and specifically Angel. What I liked when I called to make the appointment the owner Ilona asked what design I was thinking of getting, the location and size. I sent her a picture and based on what I was looking into getting she suggested recommend Angel. Which was perfect because he was the one that I was going to request for, I was nervous but at that point it was meant to be. That day Angel reached out to me to get an idea of exactly what I wanted. We discussed it and I appreciated that he was honest with me about what would work and not work. He was really accommodating regarding flexibility of schedule because I had a specific time and date in mind. On August 16th I was scheduled for my appointment and as soon as I got there like any other person I was nervous even though it was not my first rodeo. As soon as I walked in I felt calm and relaxed. I was greeted by Ilona the owner and she was very welcoming. The studio had a good ambiance, it was warm, calming and impeccable. Angel greeted me and showed me the sketch he had prepared. His presence made you feel comfortable and I suddenly felt this ease and I was not nervous any more. When he was getting prepared I began to ask questions and I have an tendency to talk too much. But he was very patient with me and answered all my questions. He asked me if I was ready before he got started which I appreciated a lot. As he was working we would talk which helped to distract me. Next thing I know he told me that he was done. I was so surprised because I barely felt a thing. I could see why my friend recommended him. He has a light touch and makes you feel comfortable. Looking at his portfolio, he is super talented and has a lot of experience. I highly recommend him if you getting your first tattoo or if you want an elaborate piece. Angel is your guy. Overall I had an excellent experience and recommend Altar Tattoo Studio. So go check out Altar Tattoo Studio, you will not regret it.

Posting this because of what happened to a friend of mine after she was pierced at Absolute…read moreTattoos. Within three days of having her ears pierced here, she developed severe pain, heat, hardness and throbbing in her ears and ultimately had to go to urgent care and receive medication. What she told me about the actual piercing procedure is the part I find completely unacceptable. According to her, the piercer put on gloves before setting up, then proceeded to open drawers, touch cabinets, the cart, supplies and other surfaces while wearing those same gloves. She also says the piercer touched/wiped her nose and then continued handling her during the procedure. She also told me that one piercing needle was used for both ears, rather than a new single-use needle being used for each piercing. Then there was the jewelry. She was given butterfly-back earrings on fresh piercings, and the backs were so tight that there was little room for the swelling that followed. She has had numerous piercings before and knew something was seriously wrong when the ears became hot, hard and began throbbing even though she hadn't hit or disturbed them. I understand that complications and infections can occur after any piercing, and I am not going to pretend I can medically prove exactly what introduced the infection. But when someone describes questionable infection-control practices during the procedure and then ends up at urgent care three days later, that is more than enough for me to warn other people before they decide where to get pierced. What disturbed me further was looking into the shop afterward and finding that other customers have previously complained publicly about piercing complications and piercing technique at this location. So her experience does not appear to exist in a vacuum. She also made a point of telling me that the piercer herself was very nice. Frankly, that isn't the issue. Being pleasant does not compensate for poor infection-control practices when you are creating an open wound in someone's body. Based on what happened to my friend and what she personally witnessed during her appointment, I would not allow someone I care about to get pierced here. Absolute Tattoos should take a serious look at how piercing procedures, glove changes, single-use equipment and initial jewelry are being handled at this location.

i've never written a review before so this is a bit long…read more got my knee tattooed by William Cooke and i couldn't be happier with how it came out. The guy is super chill and very professional. my request for the tattoo was "something monstery with eyeballs around my knee but not too many legs because bugs with too many legs piss me off" and he just freehanded the stencil with a sharpie like a boss. I have a high pain tolerance typically but knee tattoos are the devil and i needed multiple breaks and even ended up needing to split it into 2 sessions. Will was accommodating completely to this. When i went in for the second session, he looked at it and decided my skin still wasn't healed enough and i had to wait a couple more weeks. I appreciate that he wasn't going to do the second session until he was certain it was safe to do so. other artists might've been tempted to just do it so they can get the money and be done but Will didn't and that's exactly what you need from someone repeatedly putting needles into your skin. The shop itself is also awesome. there's artwork from the artists everywhere which is cool. it's spacious and well lit without feeling uncomfortable and cold like hospitals feel. most importantly, everything was very clean. other than the needles in their packaging, nothing on a tattoo station is going to be sterile. it's impossible because not everything can be put into an autoclave. that's just how it is. so the best you can do is keep everything as sanitized as possible since sanitation is just below sterilization when it comes to describing how many germs and pathogens are killed. i'm a cosmetologist so i've had to learn a lot about proper sanitation protocol. that being said i can't think of a single way that Will could have improved his sanitation. everything was plastic wrapped with clean and gloved hands, gloves were changed every time he came back from a break or touched something. tdlr: this place is awesome and super clean. Will is super chill, this tattoo is probably my favorite one i have now. so go give this place all your money and tell your friends to spend all their money here too.

Forget about all the tattoo parlors you've experienced. Ink10City is THE place to get your tattoos!…read moreAfter years of avoiding ink due to bad experiences at other parlors, I was hesitant to try again. I needed a cover-up for an old tattoo and had a rough idea of what I wanted, so I started researching. That's when I found Ink10City. Their online presence impressed me, so I decided to give them a shot. Walking in, I was nervous, but the vibe was immediately different. It was calm, clean, and beautifully set up. The front desk staff greeted me immediately and within five minutes, I was having a consultation with Tonee, the artist I came for. I explained my idea, but I wasn't sure how it would work as a cover-up. Tonee quickly assessed the situation, and when I admitted I wasn't thrilled with my initial concept, he suggested we stick with a religious theme. In literally five seconds, he started sketching on my arm, saying, "I can see a face right here." I was blown away by his vision and creativity. Right then, I knew I'd picked the right place and the right artist. Tonee's talent is unreal. He is the kind of talent that inspired the creation of the word "Artist." His attention to detail and problem-solving skills are next-level. He worked within my budget, gave me a clear price, and booked me for the next day (though I suspect I just got lucky with timing). When I arrived for my session, Tonee was ready and showed me his drawing. My jaw dropped when I saw it, it was perfect. He even had a backup design ready, but he nailed it on the first try. The session took about 2 hours and 10 minutes for a sizable, detailed piece. The speed, precision, and professionalism were beyond impressive, and the final price matched exactly what we discussed. No surprises. The result? A tattoo that left me nearly speechless. It's absolutely stunning, and I'm already planning my full sleeve with Tonee. While I haven't worked with the other artists (I think there are four others), the talent in this place is undeniable, and I'd trust any of them. I had such an incredible experience unlike any I've ever had. I even bought a hat from their merch section to support them. Ink10City is my go-to from now on, and I can't recommend Tonee and this shop enough. If you're looking for ink, this is the place to go!

It was time for me to take the plunge and looked into Microblading. Jess Lee of White Rabbit Studio, a small Female owned business, who is a Veteran and Asian got my attention but the cherry on top was that she did not proved that "stamped eyebrow shape & style" but each of her clients had their own unique look. Jess Less took my scarce eyebrows to 'WOW' with the blending of fine hair-like strokes with a touch of light shading, all thru the processes she explained each step and asked for my feedback to ensure it was not only a comfortable process but also a happy customer. Thanks again Jess Lee my eyebrows are noticeable different to the point I have been receiving complements from my coworkers/collogues ‍

The pattern is absolutely a solid "sharpie" looking outcome. By sharpie, I'm talking about the way some people make a solid painted on brow look. There is no way to correct this and I'm stuck with something I absolutely did NOT want and was trying to avoid. I should have has the person that did her brows do mine. I didn't realize until it was too late, my therapist had only just completed her initial training within the year when I had my brows done. With a lot of makeup, I am trying to correct the work done. Current photo attached to show solid color rather than the hair strokes to look "realistic" I asked for.
