So apparently every tattoo spot in San Antonio closes at 9PM! Which is so insane to me!!!! My boyfriend, cousin and I wanted to get some small tattoos done and it took us forever to find a place that was open and the minimum wasn't so bad. We finally found this place called them up, they were letting walk-ins come until 12 and the Minimum was $60.00 which ehh wasn't so bad. i got a small smiley face which was $60 My cousin got a small bicycle which was $100 My boyfriend got the Basquiat crown on his arm in red which was $80 The place was nice and clean, super friendly team and it was very quick we went at a good time. Wish I did more research / looked into specific artists instead of doing a walk-in. The artist Josh/Joshua did a tattoo in memory of my late grandmother and he told me I couldn't do it any smaller on my arm so I went ahead and did it larger and I immediately regretted the size the next day but as it healed the "true" tattoo was revealed and it was sloppily done. The first photo is a few days after I took the second skin off and the B&W photo is today. You can see all of the errors. I saw a few professionals and they said he used too much ink, too large of a needle on me, and that the ink bled, on top of it he went too deep and I'm scarred which is unfortunate and makes sense why the tattoo is still raised on my skin. Very sad as this is permanent and was supposed to be for my late grandmother. *Oh and it was $80 before tip so $100 for this 2" tattoo* read more

not worth the pain or the money. 1/10 i do not recommend. i initially went in with a few inspirations pics of traditional and basic arm bands. I had mentioned i wanted the top band to be about an inch thick and the bottom to be half the size. I was told it was too big and they would "try." very obviously it is not an equal width around my arm and that unfortunately was not my biggest concern here. as you can tell it was a very painful process along with recovery. i've attached pictures for evidence: the day of, the day after, a week after and now, 9 months later. where i'm stuck with a blue painful arm arm and down 400$ due to the service, and to get it fixed i will have to pay more money whether that's medical bills, a cover up or removal. read more

Piercer is unprofessional. I got 2 piercings, pierced with inappropriate jewelry for my anatomy. I asked if I had the correct anatomy for the piercings and was told that I did, only to have to take them out after consulting with a better piercer at a different shop. After 2 months, they weren't healing because they were pierced incorrectly. Wasn't given a consent form nor consulted with any info about liability, allergies, etc. read more

I went In for an appointment yesterday with an artist named Iliana , and while there I was able to see 3-4 other artists consult and work on other people. They take walk ins so easily and every piece I get that's a walk in has such extreme detail that you would think it's an appointment and something planned out. Look, i never use yelp to trash a business/person however this particular time calls for it. I went in to get a cover up, I had two tattoos that represented two past relationships, Esther ( the tattoo artist knew this) and she did a horrible job. I was very clear on what I wanted, which was a cover up, and she indicated it would be no problem-- however she failed to fully cover up my tattoos unless I paid more!! She admitted that she was an amateur, yet I still had hope for her, however when I indicated to her that my tattoo (which she did on the first visit) was not fully covered up ( After my first appointment) she refuse to do further work on it unless I payed again!! This is not what we agreed to in the beginning. At the end of the day, she failed to cover up my tattoo and lied about the price. What you should take away from that people at this location will lie, in order to get you inside the door. To me, this is pretty shitty, since this is body Art that will last a lifetime. My suggestion, do not go into this tattoo shop and save yourself money and aggravation as they will not do the job. Esther, who is on maternity leave, ( as of July 2018) should not be allowed to tattoo any living souls. Steer away from Esther as she is not what she claims. read more

I went in yesterday to get a 20 year tattoo updated or refreshed. I told the artist that I'm HIV positive and have been for over 25 yrs and I'm undetectable. I said I knew they took precautions however I was telling him in case he had personal problem working on me. The artist went to sketch the tattoo. About 15 minutes later he went outside for what I thought was a 15 smoking break. When he came back in, he said that he talked with the manager and they wouldn't do my tattoo without a dr's release. I call BULLSHIT! I'm 55 yrs old. They can have me sign a release. Or the artist could own up that he was uncomfortable working on an HIV positive person. How many people do you think they work on that don't know their status, and therefore are not on any meds and are even more "at risk" getting a tattoo. How many people do you think they work on that know they are positive and just don't tell the artist. I think I'm better than that. I wonder if they ask if you are pregnant? I wonder if they get releases for people with cancer? I wonder if they need a release for anyone that's been out of the country or is going out of the country? I can tell you I won't be going back. I won't schedule a $300 dr's appt just to get a release to get a tattoo. This literally made me get sick to my stomach when I got home. read more

This was my first time here and I came with my sister and some friends for the Friday the 13th special they were doing. My sister had been here before and said they do good work. I already have 2 large tattoos and a medium sized one done by a different place so I said why not try them out by getting a small one? I understand the special makes them very busy. There were over 200 people in line. I was #112 no biggie. HOWEVER!! I do not believe that just because there are a lot of people an artist should rush like mine did. I got two small tattoos and I will never go back to her. They're just outlines and came out nice BUT she was way too rough trying to rush through them. I watched the other artist there and none of then rushed through their clients. It felt like she was taking a newly sharpened pencil and digging it into my skin and dragging it down. I have had outlines done for my bigger tattoos and they have never felt like that! It was so painful it made me cry. If I didn't cry for my big tattoos then how could two small ones hurt so much? Other artist checked on me when i was upset and i told them i was fine, she was just extremely rough and no one did anything! She didn't even wrap my tattoos properly. She covered my entire upper back in tape which was so unnecessary for a small tattoo and the one on my ankle was wrapped too tight it was painful. Not to mention she got black ink all over my bra (which is now stained) and she hardly wiped them clean before wrapping them. DO NOT GO TO i believe her name is Christine? She had purple hair. She was so quick I'm m not even sure thats her name. If I ever go back, I will not let her near me with a needle. read more

My brother and I just went to the May 4th Starwars day celebration yesterday. We were 3rd in line and we were sooo excited because we have had some experience with Doomsday tattoo and trusted them enough to get a random Starwars tattoo that we didn't design. We were excited to get a tattoo for 25$. The ENTIRE experience was terrible! First we went to a room that had no windows and one door, it was like a garage and it was super hot. When we saw the tattoos my brother quickly made the decision to get the rebel alliance symbol, we picked it out and we were excited. I was still debating on what tattoo I wanted to get. Both tattoo artists seems super annoyed to be there doing tattoos, we would ask questions and they would answer quickly and wouldn't give us the time of day. My brother told the artist what he wanted and he quickly said "ok i got it where do you want it..." he had no idea what customer service was. He told him he wanted the tattoo on the back of his arm by his elbow and when he placed it too low and we told him to put it higher he rolled his eyes and moved it. My brother reluctantly laid down on the tattoo bed and the artist started. His hard was shaking hard as if he had been tattooing for hours. When my brothers gf went to check on my brother she noticed that the artist missed a large corner of color and as she was about to point out the spot he missed he yelled at her "don't touch the tattoo!" I wasn't close but I actually heard him yell at her, my brother and his gf aren't a stranger to tattoos we actually have gone and gotten tattooed by Bubba but the way this "artist" was treating us was astounding. She told him that she wasn't going to touch it she was just pointing out what he had missed and he said... OH I didn't even see that spot.... WTH?!?! Finally the tattoo was done and my brother called us over to see it and. it. was. TERRIBLE! The symbol is something that is symmetrical and this tattoo was SHIT. I get the idea that you get what you pay for (which is a slogan on their fb page) but this was supposed to be a fun event where you could get a 25$ high quality tattoo from the voted "Best tattoo shop in san antonio 2016." We should have been able to trust them! the line work was terrible which is a basic tattooing skill! My poor brother was mortified! When I pulled one of the tattoo artists who worked for doomsday and showed them the tattoo and the actual symbol online they just shrugged and didn't offer to fix it... It was my turn to get one done and I hesitated because look at the quality of tattoo that we were getting? both artists were not willing to help in any way and they just didn't want to take any time out of there busy schedule, but we had gotten there super early and we were the first one's in line and you can expect this type of attitude and tattooing possibly towards the end of the night but not at the beginning. Tattoos are something that will be on your body for the rest of your life... but seriously this was terrible. I showed them another tattoo that I wanted which was a light saber and it had an area that looked like it went under the skin which noone liked so I asked them if they wouldn't mind just not doing that part and just make the saber, it was something that would take less time to do and they said it was something that they would not do, all they had to do was connect two lines but they were unwilling to help. I then asked if they would fix the symbol and they said that they would not. They were ok putting out shit tattoos. I then told them that I changed my mind and they actually seemed astonished that I was not going to get something. I have been looking for a few years to find an artist to replicate my late fathers tattoo. I found an amazing artist at Doomsday tattoo. Rob-Bee was patient with my request and did an amazing sketch based on small details and a very fuzzy picture. He was even able to perfectly create a quote in my fathers handwriting, based on some samples I provided. The shop was clean and welcoming and the staff was attentive and kind. Awesome shop. Went in at opening on a Saturday. Ricky was the only one there at the time my wife and I both wanted new tats it would be her first professional tat. Ricky took the time to draw out what she wanted and made her feel comfortable and relaxed while she was nervous. I had an idea of what I wanted but it wasn't set in stone, Ricky drew up part of it and it was awesome start to a sleeve. Will be going back and requesting him to do all the rest of our work. It's been 2 days and the wife wants to go back and get more now lol. Only down side I have to say about the place is it's cash only, they do have an atm on site, but it has a $200 transaction limit and with a $4 fee for each one. Got my first tattoo here a while ago, i asked for something super simple and small and when it was healed I noticed he didn't fully color it in black w the ink.... and I paid $60.... Well my friend also got a tattoo the same time I did and the guy who did both of our tattoos here (didn't know his name he looked like Seth Rogan lmao) seemed like he was having a bad night or something. Well she asked him to redo it 2 times just because he wasn't listening to what she wanted (she specifically told him how she wanted it) she wasn't being rude about it but if were paying for something PERMANENT on our body, we're going to want to like it. Anyways he seemed super annoyed and she ended up feeling comfortable and even though we got completely diff tattoos he charged us the same amount ($60) even though I just got a small 1 inch tattoo that was all black, and she got a dice and some wording.. It made no sense. Either way we paid it and was left disappointed when my tattoo healed because he didn't even color it in all the way there's still parts of my skin showing lol. Oh well. read more
