Absolutely recommend this shop!! I have a few tattoos from shops around San Antonio, and did so much research around different shops when my husband decided to get his first tattoo ( at 46). Mr Lucky's was overwhelmingly the shop recommended when I reached out on Reddit and man they weren't kidding- super laid back chill atmosphere but with quality workmanship! My husband got a wedding band tattoo-with 7 letters- which he drew up. Rosendo made it a stencil, shaved inked and had it wrapped in less than 10 minutes! More than anything we just spent most of our time talking and getting to know him- a really awesome guy. I didn't meet but one other artist there briefly but everything was really cool and I can't recommend it enough!!

The appointment went well and Philly was a trooper, as he stayed way past closing in order to finish the job. This wasn't part of the monthly special, so we paid a little more for this one. Rosendo had done my daughter's tattoo and did a fantastic job. Although it was her fourth tattoo (second from this shop), he walked me through her process. It was the main reason I decided to get my tattoo done with him. For my first tattoo experience, I have no complaints. Rosendo was a real professional and answered all my amateur questions. He also walked me through the entire process. I love my tattoo and will definitely return for my next.

I have been going here for the last 7 years. They've collectively given me 6 tattoos and I have been over the moon with each one of them. The most recent, done on 7/25/21, was done by Robert. HIGHLY RECCOMMEND! He did an amazing job. I went in to get my dog's paw print on my leg as a tribute to him and Robert took much care in making sure it was perfect. I have never had a bad experience here. They're always very cheerful and I will continue to go back for all of my ink therapy.

I went in today and Spoke to Mike. I explained this was my first tattoo which I wanted to cover scars on my shoulder. I showed him what I wanted and from there he designed something far more detailed and beautiful! Mike was great! I totally live it! I went here on a whim to get something that'd I had been wanting for a little bit. I was skeptical just because I'd never been here, but as soon as I walked in, I was greeted nicely and welcomingly, the workers were amazing! They have beautiful flash tattoos and tattoos the artists there have made which are so well done and cool I will definitely have to go back and get one! The man who did my tattoo did it fast and made it look just how I wanted. This place is amazing, definitely recommend!!!! Their prices are also great. It's not overpriced like most places now, I'd even say they need to up their prices with how clean the work is. read more

I just want to warn everyone that the minimum rate for the tattoos are $100 and the artist did not let us know this and took advantage of how excited we were to get matching sibling tattoos. Mike is the only person I trust with my tattoos. He is professional, neat, and timely. He has drawn 2 of my tattoos of ideas I give him and he executes them perfectly. The atmosphere is awesome the artists are not pretentious, but they are willing to tell you when they think you are not making a wise decision. I came in with very basic ideas both times I went in for a tattoo, and both times I left with a wonderful piece of art that I am proud to have on my body. I will definitely go back to Mr Lucky's for my next tattoo and I would recommend them to anyone that is looking to get a tattoo. I stopped here to get my first tattoo on a whim. Their Facebook page randomly popped up on my timeline, and after checking out reviews, I stopped by the shop and put down a deposit. I took advantage of the $100 tattoo special, and Rosendo tattooed me. I am absolutely in love with how it turned out. Rosendo did a great job. He always checked in to see how I was feeling, provided adequate advice, and overall was just a really cool guy. The whole thing took less than two hours which surprised me. After getting home, I noticed that one of the thorns on the black rose wasn't colored in. I called Rosendo and we scheduled a time for me to come back to get it fixed, free of charge. My ink is now almost 100% healed and it is beautiful and vibrant. I've gotten so many compliments. Rosendo worked with me, but all of the other guys in the shop seemed really cool and nice. The shop has a chill vibe. I definitely recommend stopping by! read more

Established in 1999.

The owner , Weldon Lewis began his apprenticeship at Perfection Tattoo , under Shawn DeGan in 1992. He worked at Perfection Tattoo ( San Antonio's first custom tattoo shop ) for Shawn DeGan and Chris Trevino until the end of 1998. In 1999 Mr. Lucky's Tattoo was opened on the St Marys strip , after 15 years in that location Mr Lucky's Tattoo was relocated to 2856 Thousand Oaks Dr . At Mr Lucky's we strive to cary on the traditions handed down to us by our teachers in a creative and competent way in a friendly and informative environment .

I ( Weldon Lewis ) have been tattooing professionally since 1992 , and served a formal apprenticeship for six years . I specialize in large scale japanese tattooing as well as traditional american and hot rod / monster art . I am constantly producing new paintings and artworks that are available for purchase at the shop and at the various conventions I attend . I enjoy the challenge of working with people and their various ideas to make sure they get the best tattoo possible . As one of the few tattoo artist in San Antonio with over 20 years experience I can design and tattoo any ideas that are presented to me with an eye for detail and accuracy that is unmatched by my competitors .

Because it's appointment only, the lobby area was clear and there wasn't really anyone out there, which I really liked. The music wasn't loud either and it was enjoyable. The facility was extremely clean. Frankie was a gem. I was getting re-pierced and I was very nervous and anxious, and her vibes helped the nerves a ton. I let her know that I have a tendency to get swollen pretty quickly and more than the usual person, and she made sure to give me a longer post to account for additional swelling. Yes, it's a bit more pricier than your typical piercing studio BUT it's worth it and an investment; good work isn't cheap, cheap work isn't good. Their selection of jewelry is again, expensive but absolutely beautiful and high quality. I wish I would've gotten all my piercings done by Frankie! The first day I went in, I only planned on getting one tattoo but ended up getting a second right then. A few days later, I came back for one more and ended up getting two that day. Her work is fantastic. She's really very knowledgeable and knows a lot about the different layers of skin and how tattoo art works with them. She takes an advanced approach, using tablet technology to layer the design perfectly and understands how the skin heals and responds. This also makes the process less painful. I used to use lidocaine when I get work done at home in Massachusetts. However I did not bring any on my work trip, and it hurt less with her than anyone else(even when I forgot my lidocaine) The tattoos came out even better than I expected, and people always compliment them. The other staff there are friendly too, and it's a relaxed, welcoming environment. I'm from Massachusetts and plan to fly back just to get more done by her. (Probably a big piece) If you're thinking about getting a tattoo done, Especially if it deals with Math or Physics. I'd definitely recommend making an appointment ahead of time and bringing a design idea. I like how she is very into what she does and not rushing to get the work perfect. Nycole's the best at what she does.

And I was also more than excited to join the staff and tattoo with Weldon Lewis. As soon as I stepped into Mr.Lucky's I was blown away by the amount of art work that blanketed the walls. The staff greeted me and was very welcoming as they pointed out their portfolios. As I viewed everyone's work, one of the artist sketched an idea I had and from there we set up an appointment. When I came back a week later to be tattooed, the same laid back atmosphere was still apparent. Naturally the tattoo came out great and I generally just felt comfortable at the shop.
