Dr Powell is absolutely horrendous. Worst bedside manor I've ever experienced. She was the rudest physician I have ever encountered. My child will never see her again! I will continue bringing my child to this practice to see another practitioner but never again will she be in a room with my child. Worst mannered physician ever!! Insulting condescending and does NOT care about you or your child. Do not let her treat your child. My son is extremely upset by the things she said as am I. My son was born in 2004 and started seeing Dr. Harris around 9mos. of age. My experience with this office was so bad that I feel the need to come back and add my two cents in 2023. When my son was initially examined by Dr. Harris, he immediately diagnosed him failure to thrive because he was underweight and ordered me (not suggested) to stop breastfeeding and switch to formula. At the time I was seeing a lactation specialist and breastfeeding successfully so I pushed back on the formula recommendation and was told verbatim: "If you do not switch to formula I am going to call DCF and tell them you're not feeding your child". What kind of pediatrician says this to a first time mom with a baby? What kind of bedside manner is this? Years later after extensive testing and many specialists visits, we were able to discover that my son has pancreatic issues and it has been managed wonderfully by a caring team of doctors who wouldn't dream of accusing me of "not feeding my child". Had "Dr." Harris taken the time to be an actual pediatrician perhaps we would have had answers much sooner. It's been almost 20 years now and I am still enraged and humiliated by that office visit. All of my children went to Altmamonte Pediatrics. They are now grown (25, 24, 21 & 18). When we moved back to Florida in 2016 my daughter started taking my grandchildren to see the Drs in the Altamonte location. This has been the worst experience of our lives. It appears to me nothing more than a money racket. Dr & staff are not concerned with the childs wellbeing just check them in check them out as quickly as possible. Dr. Soven being the worst not even evaluating children for ADHA just throwing several different prescriptions at them at a time and hoping one of them works. Terrible office! Every time a make an appointment with specific doctor they change it on me without telling me a head of time. I can see a last minute sick visit but find it unacceptable for physicals made weeks in advance. I refuse to see Dr Harris and wanted that noted on my chart and I still get scheduled with him??? Most of the staff is rude and will barely smile. Not very welcoming to children at all. The office needs a remodel desperately. They take vitals in a walkway with ipads visible so anyone walking by can see charts. I told the office I was not coming back and they could care less. Brought my daughter here for the first time today. She's 8 months, I came as a walk in and the lady at the front desk seemed to be bothered I didn't have an appointment but another lady took over and squeezed me in which made me happy considering my daughter is behind. After a few minutes we were seen which was impressive considering there was so many people and put in a room... VERY small rooms and smelled really bad of pee!!!! I didn't complain though, they took my daughter to get her weight and made me take off my daughters pamper in front of people!? I was really upset over this considering I don't need everyone seeing my daughter naked... the Asian doctor was very nice and up-beat, the nurse was fast and good with my daughters shots... the clinic had its pros and cons but I will not be coming back to this clinic... read more

Please take heed to these reviews! If I could give a negative amount of stars for this location I would! I brought my son in with a fever of 104. By then he had had a fever plus other symptoms for several days. I wish I had just taken him to the ER. What a complete waste of time. The dr (Harris), I have no clue why he is working with children, my son was so shaken by his mannerisms, tone, and lack of empathy. There aren't enough characters to explain this experience. He went on to order an x-ray as he could not figure out what was wrong and thought it could be pneumonia. He said I would be notified once the results came in. That was approximately in 2 hours. Needless to say I NEVER received a call back. I had to call them back almost 4 hours later! Spoke to the nurse who said there's no pneumonia, it "could" be a viral infection and she's not at liberty to say much else just to do what the Dr told you to do. Here's the thing...the Dr didn't tell me to do anything! Meanwhile my son is still with fever, no appetite, and I am just as lost as I was when I first went it. I was told if the fever persists in 2 days to bring him back. I will NEVER bring my son back to this place again. Please find someone else to care for and about your children. read more

The Dr. we had for our kid was a real piece of work. Petty much a complete ass. Talks down to everyone like he is the only one that is smart enough to be a Dr. Learn some bedside manors! He may be suprised that some of the parents he talks to are actually smarter then he thinks, we can read, and in fact we can write too. We were just in for a basic checkup for summer sports and he was completely rude and rushed. This is one of the biggest children's Dr.s in cenral FL. I understand there are a ton of kids that go here but every parent wants to have their kid treated like a person not a number on a file. I am switching Dr.s as soon as I have time to transfer records. We have been going here for several years and some of the Dr.s are fairly good, but its luck of the draw which one you get on your visit. The one Dr. (I wont mention HIS name) we had before and I figured he was having a bad day. After talking to the other parents in the waiting room they were all hoping he would not be in today. Needless to say today was our lucky day. I wont be back because of him and I will turn away anyone that asks. read more

I had my baby at Winnie Palmer and had not set up a pediatrician yet, so by recommendation from an amazon woman at the hospital (obviously in cahoots with these drs) I made my appt to these people, plus they were close to where I lived. I only saw a real doctor the first time we went, from there on out it was nurse. All of them seemed to have an attitude acting as if they were a doctor except for one gal, whose name I do not remember. The place seems dirty, the patient rooms are tiny, poor flow for separating well from sick patients from when you walk in the door, poor lighting...I just don't like this place, and for the Amazon woman at the hospital raving about how good the doctors are, they may be, but I never got to meet any of them except once, add that with all the other factors and there is no reason to return here. read more

The staff is lukewarm, the nurses are absolutely terrible, the place is extremely unhygienic and we saw Dr Zissman to top it all off." "And on a personal note if I see him on the street there is a 50/50 chance I'll punch him in his face. Depending on how I'm feeling that day." I have a six and a five year old and we have been with Altamonte Peds since they both were days old. Although I primarily visited the Apopka locations, I do occasionally visit the altamonte office(Definitely prefer the Apopka Location) My experience has been pretty with them. I love the after hour visits, staff are friendly. However, I took my son to see Dr. Soven today for an ADHD appointment and this is the worse experience that I have ever had with a doctor. Absolute NO compassion or warmth to him at all and I felt as though I was being dismissed each time I spoke. I feel that I was rushed through the appointment, there was no smile, no have a nice day....I was extremely disappointed and I will never go back to see him again. If I can see another doctor other him, I will not return. read more

We had 2 doctors from this practice examine our daughter while she was still in the hospital and being that we had no experience w/ another practice + the close distance to our home, decided to choose them going forward. Dr. Soven was a bit scary. Did not smile once, was rough w/ my 24 hour old daughter, and just didn't emanate any sort of warmth whatsoever. Dr. Harris was much nicer and we actually liked him a lot, but every time we've taken our daughter to the office she has never been seen by a doctor. She is always seen by the nurses and physicians assistants. I agree with previous reviewer's that the office definitely needs an upgrade. The waiting rooms are tiny with no toys or books or anything to keep the children distracted while they wait and there is no separation for sick and healthy children. The entire interior just seems old and slightly dirty. The women at check-in are friendly enough but the woman I usually see when we check out is awful. She is about the rudest person I've ever encountered in a medical office anywhere. If you hate your job, change it up please. I also have never felt a real sense of this being a family-oriented place. We never see the same person; it's always someone new and I can't stand being called "mom" by the staff when we've been going here regularly for two years. It just feels impersonal from start to finish. We've recently moved closer to the Lake Mary location so I'll be trying that out next. Fingers crossed. read more

I just want to give Altamonte Peds a huge shout out. My daughter has been a patient since birth and I'm so glad I chose them. When I had to change insurance companies I had to go with one that was more expensive just to keep Altamonte Peds and I'm happy I did. My daughter wasn't feeling well - got a same day appt on Friday. If I could give this place 0-Stars I would, I chose this location for my newborn due to distance from my house. He was born on a Sunday, we were discharged on Wed, Thursday was New Years Day (Offices Closed), then I was rushed to triage for an emergency (postpartum) surgery. While in triage, I missed 2 phone calls from Alt Ped. I called back explaining that I was in triage, I would call them on Monday to schedule an appointment for my baby then. In the next HOUR, I missed 3 more calls from Alt Ped, one with a voice message saying "someone needs to bring this baby in" (yes, THIS baby).... what was I supposed to do, wake up from anesthesia, and send my husband to Alt Ped, while I'm having surgery?? I quickly told them I would change offices, what a TERRIBLE first impression and awful way to run a business that should cater to families! read more

My son was having a checkup when it was discovered that a beetle had crawled into his ear while he was playing in the grass. The nurse yelled 'this kid has a beetle in his ear' which thoroughly frightened my child. She then grabbed his head and started digging it out roughly. My child was very frightened and she yelled at him then said to me 'can't you control your child?" His ear was bleeding quite a bit afterwards and they sent my wife home without any information. It was a nightmare and my son refuses to go back. This place should be shut down on cleanliness alone, but the rude and unprofessional staff (Kristin Powell among the worst) really make it an awful place to bring your kids. read more

I wish that I had read these reviews before making an appt. with this office. They mirrored my experiences as well. I wouldn't have given this place any stars, but YELP requires that you do. I didn't find they were a pediatric office. Meaning they see children, but they don't actually speak to the kids or interact with them like most peds office do. Everyone was rude from the beginning to the end of our experiences. Starting with the new patient coordinator, receptionist, med aid, and doctor. The doctor didn't even look at my child nor me. Just walk in looking at his lap top and didn't look up to introduce himself (Dr. Harris) to me or my child. We just moved here and had to get school physicals, so we won't be going back. On another note, they asked my 4 yr old daughter to pee in a dixie cup for a UA. I asked for a hat (which is a toilet inset to check urine), they looked at me like I had 3 eyes. I asked how she was suppose to do that. I told me to just hold the cup for her. REALLY!!!! I would NOT recommend them at all read more

I gave birth at Winnie Palmer and decided I was going to bring my baby boy to altamonte pediatrics. They were able to squeeze us in the same day I called bc I noticed signs of jaundice on my baby, which was so awesome of them. I'm not going to lie, once I read these bad reviews I felt a little reluctant to go. But when we arrived receptionist at the front was extremely nice and welcoming. The doctor and nurses handled my baby boy so gentle, they made sure he was taken care of and truly showed they cared. My grandson who is 4 yrs old is a pt here and has been seen 3 times and told there is nothing wrong with him. We had to take him MANY times to Nite Light peds who we LOVE because they are kind, sincere and TRULY take care of my grandson. He has had 5 double ear infections, URI and very bad tonsils, so swollen that he couldnt even talk but yet there is NOTHING wrong with him according to Alt. Peds. He has been on so many antibotics that soon NOTHING will help him anymore! I have been in the medical field 30plus yrs and never have I seen a pediatrician perform like this especially with little ones very UNPROFESSIONAL. They saved my son's life today! I have 4 children .. various ages from 17 to 8 months of age and love the service I receive. Today was the best! We were rushed in, my 8 month old received a shot of epi and they called 911, then my son was put on albuterol and oxygen until the ambulance showed up. Professional, kind, caring, and amazing are the words I would use to describe Dr. Candelori and staff. We also use the apopka location and see Dr. Harris there and highly recommend him too. I had a rough start with my newborn son due to him being premie. I had my heart set on using a different pediatrician but didn't get the chance to set all of the stuff with his insurance up before the baby came. With that being said I was in need of a doctor for my baby kinda quickly and so I went with the doctors who saw him in the hospital( which I did like the doctor I saw In the hospital I just never saw her again.) The first few visits were fine they were not the friendliest people in the world but it was okay and due to this being my first kid I didn't know how any other places like this acted. Then something was wrong with my baby. I called the day after it started happening he was projectile vomiting turning blue and would stop breathing they asked me to come in that day which I thought was awesome until I got there.... They had weighed him as they always do when you first get there and due to him gaining weight they dismissed me made me out like I was just a worried new mother reacting to spit up and just sent me on my way. As I tried to explain that it was not just spit up they just ignored me because they had made their mind up. A couple days went by and I called again because it had gotten worse and he was throwing up every bottle. They didn't even want to see me they said again that spit up was normal. After 10 days of my 3 week old baby vomiting and choking and getting no nutrients because he was keeping no food I brought him in early for his "one month" appt. I got very rude because I was in no mood to deal with them that day. He had lost weight so they finally agreed to look at him and they found that he had Pyloric stenosis which isn't a very big deal however all they had to do was poke his stomach to find it and it took literally a minute. That night I went to the hospital to get the surgery however I couldn't get it done then because he was so dehydrated. The rest doesn't really matter but I was so disappointed in the fact that people pay you to help their kids and ease the minds of the parents. Even if I had been just a worried mom clear my head and do a simple check don't blow me off. read more

Although all of the providers are fantastic here, their ancillary staff is terrible. I took my sick child as a walk-in on a Saturday (sorry forgot to call because I have a SICK KID) and I was met by the most rude front desk receptionist I have ever come into contact with. She berated about not being able to check whether or not my insurance was up-to-date after a long discussion on how I should really call before walking in. When asked for a record of my 3 month olds records (so I can go to another provider), she informed me it "would take days" when at our last appointment they told me to ask at the front before going back so they could have it ready by the time we left. I will not be returning to these offices again and will take my child as well as my hard earned money elsewhere to an office where manners are trained. Again, very sad because the providers and nurses are actually very nice and take the time to educate parents. Being in the medical field myself, I am very disappointed. read more

HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!! I truly hate this place. They are unorganized and very rude! You wait forever and for the consultations of ADHD children for medication, they do not even really consulate just ask couple questions and send you on your way with medications. This is how drug addicts get medications for lack of work from doctors, just making it easier for them! Now they tell my husband and I have 30 days to find another doctor, they will not let us have any more appointments for our son because we spoke up and complained due to no medication refills given in 3 weeks. It was a huge back and forth BS game with them and who is getting affected the child, our son, who needs his medication for educational purposes! I will make sure the WHOLE world knows how terrible this doctors office is so no one ever goes through what we and so many others as you can see below with everyone's comments have been through. I have been taking my son here for a year now and so far it has been good. They take us in a timely manor and always fit him in same day if needed. I havent had probelms with any Doctor he has seen yet. I have only seen about 3 different ones so far. Dr. Brian Harris was good with my son and there was a couple of women Doctors who were good also. Cant remember their names. I could understand the comments about needing updates. I have been taking my children to this office for about 3 years and it was mainly because of convenience since we are 5 minutes away. The Staff is Rude, from the time you make the appointment, check in, see the nurse, they treat you as if you are bothering them. I finally got enough today and I will take my kids else where. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CHILDREN TO THIS PLACE! My son was born premature almost 2 months early after spending 14 days in the nicu I made his first appointment with this office. My sons first appointment we had questions for the Dr who knew NOTHING about my son and his mescal history even thought the history was sent to him prior.... he read it while he entered the room and made us sit while he went over it. When we asked questions he was very short and extremely rude! My son got very ill crying non stop and not eating or having bowel movements for days and these people (every Dr in the practice cause every time we took him we'd ask for someone different) told me there was nothing wrong with no bms for days and that he was just colicy. After seeing every Dr in the practice trying to find out what was wrong I took him to another Dr Who found out he's extremely allergic to cows milk!!!! Seriously, as a health care professional of children, innocent babies why wouldn't you take the time to make sure you find out what's going on!? I'm I'm extreme disgust over this place and their Dr's. The also gave him his shots too early and never gave him an RSV shot t which he needs every month, so he went 2months without a shot which could make him have a life threatening disease! read more

This office just does not take ownership. We saw them for 3 1/2 years. Of that 3 1/2 they prescribed my daughter Myralax and have had her on it for 18 months. Honestly I was never comfortable with it but when I saw the X-rays felt that I needed to go a long. The confusing part for me is that my daughter had always a bowl movement every single day, so I never knew she was "backed up". The whole time I am told that once she is "no longer backed up" they would guide me and we would go over food options that may or may not be causing this. Well this never happened. Even though she was not "backed up" anymore they still said "We'll just keep her on the Miralax." I should mention that sometimes this situation would cause her to have potty accidents sometimes. And even after we knew and they would confirm that she was not backed up any more I would insist that the Miralax must be causing the potty accidents, she would have to run to the bathroom and would not always make it. But if I tried to take her off of it she would began to get backed up and not have completely healthy bowl movements. I was not going to send my daughter to school like this. So we recently stopped seeing them and I then I needed a note for the school in regards to my daughters ongoing condition. I just called them for the note because they saw her more than any other doctor in regards to this situation. And I was told to get the note from a G.I specialist that my daughter saw once by their referral. Are you kidding me??? We see your for three years and the last 18 months we are seeing you every six weeks for follow up on this ongoing situation and you want me to go to a Doctor about an "ongoing" situation that we saw only once. Yeah so basically this place does not own their work or behavior. And yes what people said above about the establishment being generally "cold" and I would also like to add robotic like, is true. They do have one awesome nurse there named Jamie, she really rocks and makes the place a better place. But other wise no I would not refer anyone there. read more

I am not the person to complain, in fact this is my first time commenting on any business anywhere in the United States. I had horrible experience with the Altamonte Pediatrics, I took my baby there from 0 to 9 months and every time there was something that made me very uncomfortable. After all the visits I had with them, I am sure that all they want is to make money they do not care about your baby. Every time we came for an appointment (on time!) we would be seen at least 40 minutes after; and out of 6 visits we had there I every time specifically requested one particular doctor (Dr Harris) and I was always told that that's who I was going to get - only 2 times that happened - all the rest of the times I was told he was either off or not in the office or what not. The reception staff is absolutely incapable of dealing with any kinds of spending accounts - we have a reimbursement account and they would ask for payment and make me sign papers that I am obligated to pay when it was absolutely not necessary - they would get their payment a week later but meanwhile they will be calling making me feel like I am delinquent with the payment. Besides reception staff is not friendly at all - I always felt that they wanted to close their little window as soon as possible to minimize interactions with people. Even the lady on the way out always seemed so unhappy each time I requested to have my baby seen by a specific doctor, she would have this facial expression that I am just another one of those crazy moms who thinks one doctor is better than the other, she seemed to have an opinion when I wanted to split the shots or to do them a week or two later. Shots is the other big issue I had - I believe in shots but I also believe that I don't have to defend myself each time I want to split 4 shots a week apart because my baby has a fever or a runny nose! Over there I always felt like I had to fight a battle, I hated this. The last drop was when I requested a sick appointment as my baby was running a fever of almost 104, and arrived on time. My poor baby felt so weak and they only saw her an hour and twenty minutes later!!! The practice only had another 2 kids waiting to be seen but the staff had another payment paper for me to sign and since I was not agreeing to all the charges I believe they decided it's ok to punish my poor baby for the fact that I was not agreeing with everything they charge. Later when we were seen the nurse (by the way the nurses are at least friendly there, can't say anything negative about them) took her temperature with the forehead thermometer and it read 96,8. I couldn't believe my eyes! So when the doctor arrived he was acting like I am overly worried since what my baby has is not technically a fever. I asked him to touch her, she was burning and exhausted by then, had no strength to cry even, he agreed she felt warm and asked me if I wanted to use a rectal thermometer I said yes. The one they brought in ended up not working, but it only took them about 1-2 minutes of my screaming baby to figure it out, then they went to get another one. Finally the other one confirmed I was right and that's when the doctor (dr. Zissman) diagnosed the baby with roseola. By the end of this visit I was crying cause I felt so helpless and mistreated. I want to also say that I never saw any of the female doctors, except for Stacey Farmer (she seemed caring and nice) but I've seen all of their male staff. Would never never go back there. I switched to the Longwood Pediatrics and Dr Jag and I am very happy. So my review is for all the moms (and dads) out there that think all of the pediatricians are the same and they won't get treated better anywhere else - you will, just avoid the Altamonte Pediatrics if you can. read more
