The office staff are miserable, the doctors are part-time and never available, and they are quick to direct you to a walk-in clinic for help. Dr. Ward and Dr. Emmert were both friendly and helpful in answering all of my questions, but Amanda Roberts has been my favorite nurse practitioner and I request her when she's available. The nursing staff has been very friendly and all great with babies and making us feel informed at each appointment. Amanda Roberts really makes me feel like she is there for us by taking her time to talk us through each of his milestones and stages of life and not rushing out of the room to her next patient. read more

We have been going to Interlachen Pediatrics for over 6 months now with our first born daughter. We looked around at a number of pediatrics before we gave birth, but took a recommendation from a family friend saying how comfortable they were with the service provided at Interlachen. Their Oviedo and Maitland facilities are both geared towards children with each exam room decorated with different themes. I like the fact that they have separate spaces for infants, sick kids, and healthy kids, just to keep any illnesses from spreading around the office. Another perk is that they offer walk-in hours from 8am to 9am most weekdays without an appointment in case something pops-up overnight. They also have Saturday hours in Maitland which we took advantage of when our little one became sick on a Friday Night. Our pediatrician, Dr. Middleton, is one of the best doctors I have ever met whether for adults or children. He has a great bed-side manner, willing to take the time to answer all of our questions and explain everything as far as our daughter's health and development. Instead of dreading the doctor's office, we actually look forward to appointments at Interlachen whether with Dr. Middleton or any of the other professionals. We had been coming here from birth to 2.5. Then I decided in my infinite wisdom that the 15 minute drive wasn't worth it! I wanted someplace closer! I searched and switched to First Choice in January. Well in June guess who came crawling back? When we came back--all of the nurses and desk staff oohed and ahhed and asked where we'd been. They cooed over my son and remarked on how tall he's grown. They remembered him--another reviewer said that she didn't get warm fuzzies. Maybe it's hit or miss, but we get them. Before I left I didn't realize the bond that we'd formed with the staff. While we may see different doctors for sick visits, the nurses and staff are consistent. And if we preferred a certain doctor, for every visit, it's doable, but on their schedule. Interlachen Pediatrics (IP) is amazing. They have weekday walk-in morning sick hours, Saturday by appointment and they even have someone on staff on Sunday's (for emergencies) They also have separate seating areas for sick and well children. The large aquariums in the waiting area are a hit with the kids. The exam rooms are well sized and clean. There's always books tucked into the top drawer of every exam room to keep the little ones entertained. The decor has kept my little guy entertained on many occasions. The doctors and staff are friendly and knowledgable. And they are not egotistical--when we had chicken pox, the younger docs called in the grey hairs docs to give their sage opinions. Apparently, younger doctors don't get to see many people with chicken pox since the vaccine came out. We highly recommend this practice, especially for infants and toddlers. Absolutely rude staff particularly Simone who didn't care to listen to what I was trying to achieve regarding getting my son the rest of his vaccinations. Refused to listen and assumed I didn't want the rest of his vaccines which I did want him to complete the cycle, she misinterpreted and started to argue with me over the phone. She down right refused to listen. I wouldn't want to go back to a practice who doesn't take the time to LISTEN and just assumes. They dropped the ball on the WANT to care , horrible practice. The Oviedo office waiting area is clean and welcoming and the front desk staff is friendly enough, with a smile a good morning and then straight to the business of checking you in. We have had friendly and sometimes even funny nurses. My only complaint is that the first visit for both my kids when we started here was with nurse practitioners (different ones each time) and when one of my kids got sick shortly after we started coming here, they saw yet another nurse practitioner. I had to specifically request and insist that we be schedule with an MD but when we were the one we got met all my expectations. Tip: Request to see a MD if that is important to you and remember the MDs name if you want the same one the next time. They will accommodate if you ask. read more

This would have been a 5 if I hadn't had the interaction I did during my sons last visit with Dr Fisk. What an arrogant rude man. We just moved to Florida and this practice was recommended. The nurses have all been wonderful and for the most part the drs as well. However dr Fisk was horrible. As he walked in he said looks like he's had a few ear infections it's time to start thinking about tubes. I said I'm pulling him out of daycare that's when all this started. He said we hear that all the time and wait are you even his mother? That was because I am brown and my son takes after his German Norwegian father like my older two kid's. Then he told me that eastern medicine has no place in medicine because there's no scientific proof that any of them actually work. As he walked out of the office he said make sure to give him the antibiotics so he can actually get better. PS he's been on freakin antibiotics for the past 5 weeks of his life and has finished every bottle so I'm not sure what that was about either I'm assuming it was because we give him alternative remedies also like elderberry vitamin C and oregano oil. He was horrible and we will never see him again and because of him are considering changing pediatricians all together. read more

This review is for the Maitland office- I arrived for my son's first appointment on time and with my completed paperwork. The front office staff was not rude, but I would not describe them as welcoming either. We were taken back to see the doctor fairly quickly (we were the only people in the waiting room). We then sat in the room for an hour waiting on the physician. I brought my other two children to the appointment with me. Waiting in a small room with three children for an hour is not a pleasant experience. No one popped in to say "sorry about the wait"- nothing. The only person who came into the room, aside from the nurse who took us back, was a rude woman who shoved papers in my face regarding the HPV vaccine. I told her I did not need them, because I had received them in the mail. She rudely informed me that I had to take them, I again told her again- "Thank you, but I already have this information". She left the room ticked off that I did not take the papers. After waiting for an hour in the room I decided to leave. I have never left an appointment before, but the feeling in the office was so unwelcoming I did not wish to stay. read more

We have doctors we really like here, but not love. The staff is competent, and we never wait for a long time to see a doctor. However, we've been coming here for 13 years with four kids- I'm pretty sure no one has a clue who we are. This is a big practice with lots of patients, no warm fuzzys if you like that(which I do). Fantastic facility and staff! The fact that I can take my child in at 8AM (from 8-9am walk-ins) without an appointment and be seen with no wait time is unreal and over the top impressive. Anyone with kids knows how difficult it is to wait all day long for an appointment when your child is running a fever...and then you usually have to wait a few more hours in the waiting room. I also like that I can walk 15 steps and be at the Walgreens next door to which also gets you in and out. read more

We were on vacation with our 4 kids including our sick 10 month old daughter. Upon arriving at Interlachen we were told that it was lunch time in the office and no one could see her. They only had a 5pm appointment available. I guess the Doctor's lunch hour is more important than taking care of a sick child. I never heard of an office closing down for an hour so the staff could take lunch, ridiculous especially a pediatrician. I guess children should only get sick at certain hours. read more

We have 3 children and been going ot Interlachen Pediatics in Oviedo since 1998. Yes 1998! The walk in sick hour is amazing feature benefit they have that few can compare to. Service by the front desk staff is always very friendly and professional. Waiting area is separted into a sick and well sides with 2 huge fish tanks to keep them occupied. Dr Ward is my favorite but we have seen almost all of the providers over the years. They have all been exactly what you would expect in a pediatrican; caring kind and very knowledgable. read more

We ended up at Interlachen since they took our insurance and it was convenient; however I have since met multiple other people who use the same doctor and really love him. Dr Fisk is great. He takes the time to listen to you and provides thoughtful answers. We saw one doctor one time just because she was available and I prefer not to see her again. I like the large waiting room (separated for sick and well visits) and the separate waiting room for newborns. Now that my daughter is a little older, she loves the large fish tanks. I would prefer if they saw you a little more quickly once you are put in your individual room; especially with young kids anticipating shots - that is never fun. read more

My son had to have his ears cleaned out and the MA was squeezing his head so hard it left marks on each side while my son was saying "ow it hurts, she's hurting me" so my husband asked her to stop to which she replied "I'm not hurting him, Ive been doing this long than you've been alive" my little guys is still non stop saying she's hurting his head so my husband asked if she was lying about hurting him (reminder we can see the red marking on his head from her hands) she gets upset and just walks out of the room DURING the procedure, then the ARNP has the audacity to tell my husband HE was being unprofessional! First off we are the parents of your patient and it is our job to make sure you are not hurting our child, the MA who walked out on her job was very UNPROFESSIONAL! For 1 hr after the appointment my child was saying his head hurt and not from the ear lavage which he has had done too many times to count but from the forceful way she was holding his head! The whole staff was rude, and not just this visit. They continually mess up appts times and our insurance information. I will never take my child to the Oviedo office again. On the other hand we have had great experiences at the Casselberry location. read more

Worst pediatrics office I have ever been to. If they do not like children they should all find new professions. I took my son and daughter there after relocating to the Orlando area and was sorry from day one. They are rude, condescending and worst of all treat the children horridly. My daughter was actually told to shut up at the Maitland office and the following visit at the Oviedo office, when she asked the nurse a question she was ignored and handed a book. When I brought my son in for an ear infection I asked for a script for ointment for his rash caused by the antibiotics, after asking the doctor 5x for the script I gave up and went home and called our old pediatrician to write it. They finally called me after they remembered but I had already taken care of it. Needless to say, I am no longer in need of their service. read more

I decided to write a review after recently leaving Oviedo and moving to another state. I realized how helpful it is to find a good review for things such as doctors, vets, salons, etc. When it comes to a Pediatrican's office, I don't know that there is another office quite like Interlachen. I have two small boys and both have been patients of Dr. Middleton's since birth. I have seen almost each doctor at the office and all are professional and truly care about children. I have always felt supported and well informed by Dr. Middleton and others when I was a new parent and also as I had my second son. Again, I can't say enough about this office. I only hope to find another pediatrican for my boys I love as much in my new city! read more

My initial experience with Interlachen Pediatrics was good. The front office staff was helpful, friendly and competent. I was able to an appointment quickly and was treated well when I arrived for the appointment. However, the pediatrician we saw was extremely timid and seemed afraid to examine my son. She then billed my insurance for an office visit instead of a routine annual check up, so I ended up having to pay over $100 for essentially almost no examination. I can't imagine another industry that could bill you for services they do not actually provide. I am currently appealing the bill with my insurance, but having a difficult time dealing with the Interlachen billing office. I would highly discourage anyone from trying this pediatric practice. read more

I just had a baby last month and so far I have seen Dr. Fisk, Dr. Novick, Marcia Winters and one of their lactation consultants. Although my daughter has only had a few appointments, I am very pleased thus far. I love that there is a separate waiting area for newborns as well as for sick and well visits. I also love that they are open on the weekends. I have been to both the Oviedo and Maitland office and both are clean and inviting. Each time we were greeted by friendly staff and did not have to wait too long to see the doctor. Another great thing about this office is that you can also call to speak with a nurse during regular business hours without a charge. I had to call one time and the nurse returned my call promptly and was very helpful. Even the people in billing are nice! Dr. Fisk seems great, was very professional and has good bed side manner. I really want to take the time to comment on Dr. Novick, however. My husband and I are really grateful to him. My daughter was born with a pretty significant (in my opinion) ear deformity. When we were at the hospital, we were concerned and asked many of the nurses and the 2 pediatricians that visited us. We also asked Marcia about it when we met with her. Everyone had the same thing to say; it will work itself out as she grows. However, when we met with Dr. Novick, HE asked about our daughters ear without us bringing it up and he shared our concern. He gave us some information about a procedure to help re-shape her ear called EarWell and referred us to a plastic surgeon. I ended up doing my own research on doctors who do the Earwell and I found a children's ear, nose and throat specialist who identified that she had a rare ear deformity and that it would not work itself out. He said that actually most ear deformities do not work itself out on their own. This doctor also did not think the Earwell would fix it 100%, Well, after a few weeks of the Earwell, my daughters ear looks so much better! And no, it is not 100% but it looks like a regular ear now. My husband and I are very appreciative to Dr. Novick for taking the time to give us the information. If it wasn't for him, there is a chance that we would not of fixed my daughters ear. Also, when Dr. Novick met with her during her visit, he talked playfully with her and attempted to calm and make her feel comfortable, which is another huge plus. My Children are 23, 20 and 10. We began taking our children to Interlachen around 1994(?) when Drs. Fisk, Carlson and Novick joined the practice. Many years have passed; 2 of my kids obviously aged out. The practice has certainly grown- but in my opinion patients have not suffered. They serve the burgeoning population with a flexible schedule which includes sick drop in visits. the staff is friendly and helpful. They have two locations, so all in all, we don't have to wait very long to be seen. It's true that with so many Practitioners on hand, the chance of seeing the same one every time is low. However, all of the Doctors, Nurses and staff seem to care. Throughout the years the care has been consistently good. read more

I have been going for eight years and am finally convinced to change. I have never seen the same doctor and my last experience today was the worst. I met a doctor Fisk. Who had never seen my daughter before . My daughter sitting there scratching her throat and without asking my daughter one question he determines that the sound she is making with her throat is a tick. I advise that this, he was calling a tick, goes away with Benadryl and happens when she eats sometime but I can't determine what may be causing it. He said if it happens in her sleep is not a tick. I told him it did about two days ago and he still said its a tick. I know my child has never had any ticks and this man dared without one question asked to diagnose her in less than 5 minute.
