We had a consultation to review what was going on with my body. Then, she brought me downstairs into her wonderful massage space. The massage was beyond amazing. La Juana's hand work is strong and moved with intention to address my problem areas. She was very accommodating during the massage: variations in pressure for different areas, music, temperature, etc. At the end, she gave me recommendations for stretches, products, etc. I had a wonderful time here and can't wait for my next appointment!

The experience was so intentional, starting with a short consultation during which she asked questions to get to know us better, and then an explanation of what to expect during the massage. She used a variety of techniques during the massage that reminded me of Thai massage + Swedish + hot stones and some other tools that I had never experienced before. As a Black and Asian person respectively, my partner and I both value wellness care facilitated by people of our same identities. The quality of the energy here is so easy to surrender to. We are so grateful that this place exists--it really lives up to its name as THE Spaaaht!

Before going in for the service, I reiterated this and I was very clear that I did not want any kind of Thai massage or bodyweight massage. Immediately this person's entire body weight was on me . I began to feel pain and alerted this person, but eventually had to stop the massage because the pain was too great. I ended up leaving 10 minutes in. I have had many deep tissue massages in my life, and I have never experienced this kind of pain. An hour or later, and I can't even move my shoulder. In addition to this, About two minutes into my massage I hear the door open and somebody walked into the room while I was on the table, which was very unnerving and made me feel very unsafe. I was laying there mostly Naked, already not being heard about the type of massage I want only to realize that somebody entered the room and I couldn't see who it was. I do not recommend this establishment. UPDATE: Siya was very responsive to my concerns and very open to finding a solution. They refunded my money and offered a complimentary service. I appreciate their understanding of the necessity of consent and privacy when undergoing treatment. Rating updated to reflect responsiveness.

First, they were 45 minute late for my appointment. I was called about 30 minutes before and told that they were running 10-15 minutes behind but it ended up being 45 - I was about to leave and they finally were ready. Second, ABSOLUTE lack of privacy!!! The treatment rooms are not private so all throughout my services there were people waliking through to get in and out of hte other rooms. No dressing rooms so once I was done with my massage I was not left to myself to get dressed and pulled together - I had to find my clothes and shoes that were still in the first treatment room and get dressed with an audience. I looked like a hot mess once I made my way to the reception area to pay since I had not had a minute to look at a mirror!

She repositioned the lil paper under my lid but as soon as she started placing the lashes it started burning again. What bothered me is she never checked back with me through the course of the install to see if my eyes were ok. I've had lashes done several times before and I've never experienced that kind of pain. Also I don't think the tech knew how to work with my kind of eyes. I have small eyes with slightly hooded lids. The actual install was for 80 lashes per eye however they are sparse and began to fall out 3 days after the install. I was very mindful to follow all her directions because I had plans for the upcoming weekend and I wanted to make sure they lasted. Also there is some disconnect with actual customer service. At the end of a service most lash techs give the customer a little eyelash brush, not this tech. I also tipped her $20 and didn't receive an acknowledgement a simple thank you would've been nice. Being that this is a black owned establishment I wanted to support so was going to book for a touch up in two weeks despite the mishaps. But after I thought about it, I changed my mind because I kept thinking about how painful the install was and the lack luster customer service, so I will not be back.

I then called and left two messages (a few weeks apart), trying to book an appointment. No response. I called again and finally got through. The person on the other end of the line spoke Spanish, but no English. I switched to Spanish and tried to book an appointment. She said she'd call back in 20 minutes. She didn't. The language wasn't an issue - I'm fluent in Spanish and we were able to chat easily. I gave the woman my phone number and it seemed like we'd finally made progress. We hadn't. The issue for me was never being called back or emailed, especially since I had prepaid through Groupon. It felt like a scam. Based on these four interactions with Le Spa, I have to conclude that they are not a professional business. I had to get both Groupons refunded, which was a process in itself. Maybe Le Spa is okay if you live in the neighborhood and can walk over to make your appt. in person, I have no idea. Maybe they give fantastic massages. I wouldn't know. I DO know that after this hooey, I NEED a massage! Businesses can thrive in NYC whether they are English-speaking or not. New Yorkers will learn new languages if it means getting a good deal (or an excellent massage) - at least enough of the language to book an appointment! Customer service, however, is a language that needs very few words. Just a general willingness to connect to the client, bring in the money, and provide the service that was paid for. They didn't.
