Afterwards, I got my massage, and while the massage was good, I asked him to focus on my neck and lower back and he basically did not do those areas at all. He focused on my chest, arms, and legs. Why? He also kept telling me to relax my body and let it go, which I thought I was doing, but at some points he was yelling at me which only made me more tense. Sorry, I'm just not a person who knows how to relax, which is why I came in for a massage. Additionally, the groupon was a one hour massage, and I was in and out in 45 minutes, including the time it took for me to wait to go in, talk to the front desk person, take my clothes off, put my clothes back on, and talk to the chiropractor. Overall, I feel like the groupon was not worth it at all. They get an additional star for the receptionist's personality and kindness, but overall, a pretty bad experience here. Would not recommend.

She is also an amazing human being because she really cares about how you feel by going that extra mile. Always very kind, gentle and caring. I love that social quality about her. I'd been curious about this practice for a while as…read morethey share an office with my chiropractor; and decided to finally treat myself to an appointment to get some of the cold weather tension out of my neck and shoulders. Maybe it's because my appointment was after the receptionist left for the day, but I felt kind of awkward entering -- I was a few minutes early and the therapist was chatting with what I'm guessing was another client, and didn't really greet or welcome me. I kinda felt like I had just wandered into a space I wasn't supposed to be, or interrupted a private conversation. After the other person left she went into another room without really acknowledging me, eventually coming back and seeing if I was ready to begin. Overall the massage was good, not mind blowing but solid, and the space is very nicely decorated. But for the money I ended up shelling out (over $200 for 60 minutes) I don't think it was a good value. I was also up-charged for seeing the lead therapist, which I didn't realize at the time of booking. It was only after going through the automated texts and emails after I saw the charge I figured out what happened -- so learn from my mistake! They also automatically added a tip without my knowledge or consent -- so the $150 service I initially signed up for ended up costing an extra $70. I get times are tough for small businesses, but they're tough for me too, so these extra expenses added tension right back into my shoulders. If you've got the money, you do you. But if you're trying to be more cost conscious, I wouldn't recommend this place.

My licensed massage therapist friend recommended Camellia to me as a go-to therapist in NYC. She…read moresaid that having a session with Camellia is like going through an exorcism. Wow, it was indeed an intense experience. Camellia worked on my stiff body to untangle tensed muscles. She is very strong, and gives her all in the session. Don't expect this to be a 'relaxing' spa-like massage with a light touch. It's more a body therapy session, where she is working through your body's 'problem' areas. I felt really light headed yet deeply relaxed after the session, but also thoughtful, like I became tuned in into my emotions and thoughts. Camellia suggested I take an epson bath that same night to let the session take full effect. I went home and felt this deep urge to clean my whole house., which I did! (And I am a real procrastinator when it comes to housekeeping). It was like my body released the stress and tension it was holding, this followed some kind of emotional release, which translated into the urge to 'cleanse' my environment. That same night, I had intense dreams. I believe that the body holds a lot of emotional and mental stress and tension, and Camellia's work helps to release not just body pain or aches, but this in turn affects the one getting the massage mentally and emotionally in a positive way. Camellia is a true professional, and I recommend her highly. My husband is a regular client, and now when we go for massages on our overseas holidays, he always leaves slightly disappointed, saying 'Not Camellia.' Haha.

Pamela is a healer…read more That's not a word I throw around. I'm skeptical of most things in life. I find alternative medicine to be, for the most part, a big pile of "woo." I'm not spiritual, and scoff at religion. I think that if supplements were proved to work, general practitioners would prescribe them. I don't fall for water having memory, or good vibes being enough to cure cancer. When I say that Pamela is a healer, I mean that she actively, truly wants her clients to be well. Healthy. Happy. So don't be shocked if, when you leave her lovely, understated oasis on 6th Ave., you'll be pain-lessened - if not pain-free. I found Internally Happy on Lifebooker, and this is sincerely the first time in my usage of any of those Groupon-esque services where I feel confident I'll be a return customer. Without a doubt, this was the best massage I've ever had. Was it relaxing? Absolutely, but not in the fall-asleep-and-be-charged-for-a-nap-with-moderate-tickling sort of way that seems to be very popular. Pamela, upon reading (! actually reading! who does that?) my new client questionnaire, followed up on some of the key areas I had mentioned, and spent a great deal of time working on those deeply entrenched knots. It hurt. And it was supposed to. She coached me to breathe deep as she kept the pressure on, and I actually felt the knot loosening and travel down my body. Despite devoting a significant amount of time and pressure to my knotted-up shoulder blade, no other areas were neglected. From toes to forehead to fingers to thighs, Pamela kneaded every muscle with the strength and care that a true professional shows. This isn't a going-through-the-motions massage. This is a blissful piece of workmanship by someone who obviously loves her job and loves bettering the lives and moods of her clients. From turning off the heat on the massage bed before I, sweatily, climbed on, to placing a cool glass of water by your belongings for the finishing touch, every tiny detail was sublimely handled. You owe it to yourself to go see her.

They are now charging me in full the price of the massage for their mistake as a "cancellation", even though I showed up at the date/time/location discussed on the phone that was input into the system incorrectly by their own employee (important to note that I made my booking over the phone and NOT through their online booking portal, which has awful functionality by the way). I pointed out their error and but they are clearly greedy and don't want to come out of pocket for their own employee's mistake so I still have a $250 charge on my account. Some may say "oh five lbs," but for a 5'1" girlie, that is very significant. Anyways, my dearest friend ChatGPT told me to get a lymphatic drainage massage specifically for post surgery and this place was listed as one of three. I used to go to The Tox, but that is just for circulation purposes and compared to that place, this place seemed more legit. I had to have my surgeon send them a letter signing off on the massage to make sure my body would not be impacted and my wounds were fully healed to get this massage. The minute I showed up, I knew this place was what my body needed. My person told me to change into disposable bra and panties, assessed my body and asked me where my incisions from my surgery were. When she saw they were more than healed, but scarred at this point, she wrapped my body in plastic and put me in the sauna to start the initial detoxing process. Service was impressive! It is like she knew when I would run out of water and brought me more water in between. When I thought I couldn't take the heat any longer, ding, the chicken (me) was done baking. Normally I dread massages. They are painful and I get very stressed out. However, this one was so relaxing and my person realized it was my gut that was acting up the most so she spent more time on my tummy. I won't say that I felt debloated or depuffed instantly, but I felt relaxed. It does take 24-72 hours to feel the full affect of a session and based on past experience at The Tox, the 72 hour mark is when it hits. I get so lethargic I need to sleep all day and night. Luckily that would be NYE for me and this year I do not have concrete plans. I will be nice and spritely for my date the 2nd. Two thumbs up for this place. Disclaimer: both The Tox and this place are great. However, I will note that The Tox markets looking leaner due to lymphatic drainage. This place is more medical and is to help the lymphatic system calm down after it has been in shock after an invasive surgery like mine. However, I will say one thing and it will not rub some the right way, but I have been doing this for many years along with other body sculpting moments (check my other reviews). ALL THIS WILL NOT, AGAIN, WILL NOT MAKE YOU LOSE WEIGHT. THIS IS TO HELP CIRCULATION AND OVERALL TAKE CARE OF YOUR LYMPHATIC SYSTEM. IF YOU WANT TO LOSE WEIGHT, THERE ARE OTHER POSSIBLE OPTIONS.
