First the bad: The owner quotes a price for the job, but when you go to pay for the job the price is much higher. We were told that the quote was for labor only, and that the difference is due to the addition of materials and other. When the customer objects to the jump in price, the owner grudgingly agrees to split the difference with you. The first time this happened we thought it was an honest mistake. But after a second time, and after talking with a neighbor who had the same experience, we knew it was a scam. The second time it happened the price was 40% over the quote. And in our case the materials were leftover scraps paid for by a previous customer. The good: The quality of work is above average and the turnaround time is great. The woman who staffs the front is friendly, knowledgeable, and super helpful. We felt bad for her having to go along with the scam. read more

I was Very impressed with the customer service from Al's from the day that I phoned them to the completion of my request ......the woman who answered the phone was very courteous and welcomed an invitation for me to come in the next day with my chairs..... I did so and brought in my own fabric and outlined with the owner my wishes. Al, was very understanding of what my request was and made some great suggestions in which I agreed to, and very glad that I had done so. He clearly is an expert. The chairs were professionally done and ready for pick up the next day. They are beautiful!!! After a negligent snafu at a car dealership where I was sent to have a free emissions test done on a car I'd only owned for 2 days, I contacted Al's Upholstery to repair a tear and other fabric damage to my driver's seat. Al and Rose were very professional in handling my repair. Rose went above and beyond to contact the appropriate people in order to receive payment from the dealership to pay for the repair. Al examined the repair, listened to my request, and explained what he was going to do to repair the damage so my car seat would be "as good as new". The service was scheduled quickly and was completed "same day". I couldn't be more pleased! Wonderful!!! I brought in a small bench I received after my favorite aunt passed away. It wasn't worth much, but I had very fond memories of my aunt and this bench she took with her from place to place. Adam gave me some ideas, when completed, that piece of furniture was a piece of art. I love it and have warm feelings of my aunt every time I look at it. I went to Al's Upholstery to have seat cushions made for a set of rattan chairs. The location is easy to access with a small parking lot. The service was friendly, professional and fast. It only took a couple days to make the cushions. Instead of having me order expensive fabric they suggested I save money and check out JoAnn's, which I appreciated. This review is for work done 4 years ago, I debated posting because I don't like negativity but finally decided it's important to help others. Their staff or processes may be different now. I took several small RV cushions to Al's to get new cushions made with stiffer foam and nicer fabric. The gentleman who greeted me, was very nice but smelled strongly of alcohol. I think possible intoxication led to poor communication and his not relaying the work well to the guys in the back. Much of what was committed to me to do was not done. I needed the original cushions back which he promised to make happen; they were destroyed. We agreed on a seam type which he said would be used on both sides of the cushion so they could be flipped; instead there were different seam types on each side. He quoted a price of $1,000 total which I already thought was high but worth it if the quality was excellent. I was told they were ready so my wife and I made the 90 mile trip (180 two way) down only to find out they weren't even close. They told us we could come back but we asked them to try to finish them so we wouldn't have to drive down again. We had to cool our heels for 7 hours while they rushed to finish them which could not have helped the quality. Then I was informed the price was $1,200 plus tax but luckily I had it written and signed that it would be $1000 so they honored that, good on them. I'd describe the quality as pretty good. The cushion shapes and dimensions were not exactly the same as the original (shorter by an inch in some cases) but close enough to work alright. The seams weren't terribly straight but not awful either. They didn't take the time to line up the corners of the foam with the fabric so we had to wrestle them when we got home so they did line up. All in all, I was disappointed and felt they charged a premium price for mediocre work and most of all poor communication between Adam and the workers. I am looking now to get more RV cushions redone and I will almost certainly use some other business. If I did end up here again, I would have EVERY DETAIL spelled out and written down and signed. read more

Al's Upholstery is awesome! I had my bench seat, doors, headliner, dash cover, and speaker box all customize by Al. They have great customer service and the prices are reasonable when compared to the outstanding work they do. I could have gotten it done cheaper but it would not have come out close to what Al and his crew did. My interaction with Al and crew was very personable and I was able to take pictures as it was being built. Horrible is an understatement. I took my rv seats there and was given a quote of 200.00 When I arrived, the owner raised the price, did a horrible job and tore my seats and hid the botched repair and did not disclose they ripped my seat. Seriously reconsider using them. If you are still considering using them after this review, check your item before leaving the store, get the quote in writing since their word is worthless, get a detailed description of the work they are supposed to do in writing. Al is unethical and does not care about the lack of quality in his employees work. read more
