Hubby picked donuts up for breakfast this morning. What a treat! Their cruellers r to die for. Just the right amt of dough to sugar ratio. Pure heaven! But u gotta get there early bc it's a mad house early in the morning. It's l like a well run stock market session in there. Quite impressive. I really wish we haven't stumbled upon this gem bc now I'm going to want it every w/e, maybe even every morning - yikes goodbye diet! When they run out its not bc they didn't make enough, it's bc the whole city of antioch is there to get there share lol! No doubt! One of the best donut shops in East County in my opinion. We have tried a few others. Al's are reasonably priced. Lots of selection and friendly family owned small business. Our favorites are the custard filled which you can get just glazed or chocolate, old fashioned, regular glazed and they have specialty donuts like blueberry. Yummy. Also a favorite amount customers are their donut holes. They sell regular, glazed custard filled, and a raspberry filled with powdered sugar. They pretty much have something for anyone including pastries and coffee, expressing and a variety of other refrigerated drinks for sale. Get there early if you want something special because often it will be gone. Popular place in town. They've been here forever! There are some regulars that hang out every morning! read more

I was actually a regular customer here many years ago when they first opened under the original owner, Al. They are still a great donut shop, we stop here on weekends once in a while and are never disappointed in the quality of their donuts. I love their donuts! One the weekend they have stuffed donut holes with jam or custard. Get there early enough, they go fast.

So the Donuts are too die for. It's just the lady at the register I don't like. I believe she is the owner. Always on a rush to get you out. Like she is on a Red Bull or Caffeine high. Secondly, I've sat there and eaten before.Constantly bad mouthing other customers on how she schooled them and told them up. I don't appreciate that. The only reason I would go there is because her husband "Quiet Man", makes the best donuts ever. Hope you don't take my review in a bad way, but a way to critic to change your outlook on things. I grew up in Antioch 40 years ago. I've been eating Al's Donuts for at least 30 years. Every time I visit my family, Al's is always on the list Sunday morning. They have the best donuts I've ever eaten. Perfect crumb, perfect glaze. Possibly the best donut shop in the delta! National donut day prompted us to finally try this donut shop. We got there in the late morning so we expected the selection to be limited, especially on this day. They had only two trays of donuts left and a few pastries. I chose donuts that I don't normally choose since my favorites were gone. They were still awesome! Super fresh and moist! The chocolate frosting (I am more of a maple girl) was great and tasted like it was made with quality ingredients. Plus, the staff were all amazingly friendly! Meh I wasn't all that impressed. I think they must get the bulk of their good reviews from the red velvet donuts, which are good but the rest of the ones we tried were not that good. The maple was "ok" and the chocolate glaze was thin and dry and flaky. The glazed old fashioned tasted strange. A dozen is $9.00 maybe kind of higher than other places. I might go back for just the red velvet. Definitely would not buy a whole dozen again! read more

Best donuts around! I love the look on my daughters face every time we roll in here. They have the classic display cases always packed with fresh donuts. The variety is amazing here and they are always adding more or willing to fill a certain donut for you. A slightly better than average donut-shop. I liked that the donuts were not too sweet. However, the ingredients seemed a bit cheap. For example, the raspberry jellies use a cheap filling that's devoid of any trace of raspberries and probably has more in common with colored KY jelly. But the staff is nice and even gave me 2 free donuts, and the price is very reasonable. read more

Oh my goodness! These donuts are the bomb. Fluffy, flavorful, delicious. I live in Oakland and just assumed the "big city" has everything better. Oh, no! These are the best. I've had to come to Antioch intermittently for the some work. These lovely donuts are what keep me happy to go there. I cannot say enough good things about these doughnuts. I've been eating them for years and they have always maintained their fresh amazing taste! If I eat too many I get sick, but it may just be my sensitive stomach to so much sugar. These doughnuts are thicker than other popular doughnut shops, so there really is not comparison between the two. These doughnuts feel more filling and "meaty" if I can use that term. :P read more
