Chris is the reason we chose to buy our 2 ebikes here. We visited 5 other bike stores in San Diego and the were pretty good along with their ebikes. Along with educating ourselves from several Youtube videos, Alpine had one I liked and a cruiser for my wife. Buying online was an option to save some money, however I'm not convinced that was the best for several reasons. Well one reason came much sooner than what I thought, somehow we broke a our spoke and was able to have immediate attention to Chris's high level of skill replacing and trueing up to wheel. Chris is a all around good guy with skills both people and bicycle repair done correct. BTW, while Chris was making repairs we had an opportunity to browse his shop. There is a lot of bicycle related equipment along with skateboards and safety equipment. Oh, and Nixon watches to boot. This place was fantastic. Smaller local shop vibe. They had a wide selection of bikes, tires, grips, protection, accessories, etc. I called them because I had a shifting issue with my Yeti SB130 that I knew would be a 10 minute fix for an experienced mechanic. Not gonna lie, I called another shop in El Cajon who was very blunt and told me there were 60 bikes ahead of me and there was no way they were going to fix it while I wait. Their customer service of the phone was abysmal. Not the case with Alpine Ride Shop. Over the phone they were welcoming and told me to bring it in. I did and they fixed me up while I waited, had my ride the bike to make sure I was happy, and charged me a very reasonable price. I spent another $30 in the shop because I was so happy to be there. If they keep up this excellent service and do good tune ups this will most likely become my new go to shop. read more

We took a bike in for a tune up and spoke replacement. We had to call to see if it was done after a week, because we had not heard anything, and when we picked it up there was electrical tape on the splayed brake cable end and they charged us for a 'tune up'. Tape! I could not recommend this shop for customer service or pride of workmanship. read more

took my really OLD trek mountain bike in for a tune up, was quoted a price ( very reasonable) and when the owner tony started working on it, alot of my bike broke or fell apart. ( did I mention, my bike is pretty old )?... that being said, went to pick up my bike and Tony told me that alot of parts had to be replaced ,,,,, but was only charging me what he had quoted me. they even cleaned my bike up, . It is so refreshing in this day and age to find a person who not only is honest, but stands by his word. These guys saved my butt. About a year ago, I was getting suited up for a ride at Noble Canyon when I realized I'd left my thru-axle at home when loading my bike in the car. (I'd been having a rough week.) No thru-axle means no front wheel, and I can't wheelie down Noble Canyon Trail, so we looked online and ended up calling Alpine Ride Shop. They were quick, had the part, and quoted us a reasonable price, so I drove out to the shop. When I got there they had it ready on the counter and I was in and out in less than five minutes. I headed back to Noble Canyon when my phone rang - it was Alpine Ride Shop. "Um, we found a driver's license on the floor and I think it's yours." (Again: Rough week.) They would be closed by the time we got back, so we arranged a pick-up spot, finished the ride, and raced back to the bike shop. My precious driver's license was exactly where they said it would be, and intact. Wow - Alpine Ride Shop for the win. read more

With the high population increase in Alpine, add that there be a cycling category of road bikers that choose to cycle into the mountains --- when I learned of THIS/ONLY Alpine bike shop, I expected it to service road bikes. What does "We Service All Bicycles" mean? It means that only all categories of bicycles are accepted for servicing. I, as other cyclists who ride into Alpine --- choose to have Campagnolo on our bike. As "Alpine Bike Shop" was online found to not be a Campagnolo serviceable "shop." Mountains + Campagnolo always go perfectly together, like a nut/bolt. read more

These guys are beyond helpful! My wife bought a mountain bike from them years ago. No service done since. This Christmas we ran into a problem putting a bike together for my son that was not purchased with them and brought in down there a few days before Christmas. Without hesitation they ran the brake lines, adjusted them for accuracy and did not want to charge me a penny! That is true customer service.
