It was my son's 12th birthday and we surprised him with a trip to Status Skateshop to replace his old skateboard. It really made my son's birthday awesome! I'm glad Kendra was there to help us because we did not know where to begin. Kendra walked us through step by step on the selections they carry and the right size for both my kids. Definitely worth the drive for the great experience and customer service they provide! We will be back and will let all of our friends and family know about this place! read more

I hadn't been on a board in over a decade when I pulled up so I was worried about picking the wrong setup to re enter the hobby, but the kind folks at Status really helped me figure out the best fit for me. They had some sample boards they let me try to make sure I narrowed down exactly what I was looking for. Once we dialed it in, we were able to get all the parts and they built it right then & there. I rode out of the store - glad I came by! read more

Kendra and the team are incredible! She helped my son figure out exactly which board was right for his through a process of trial and error and we even got a mini lesson on surf skate / carvers. What an amazing shop. Definitely worth the +2 hour drive. Could not have imagined what an amazing playground this shop is!!! read more

I had seen their Instagram page and I've skated street for plenty of years and I was looking for a somewhat local skate shop that I could support and buy a first time surf skate board. I live in Buena Park and wanted this exact board. This shop was the only one locally that carried it. I purchased the board online on a Friday and it arrived on a Saturday at 1:30 PM, the team provided awesome service and will definitely purchase products from them again. My yearly Carlsbad trip with my family, I will stop by the shop whenever I can. You guys got a customer for life thank you. read more

Just a fantastic spot. I hadn't been skateboarding in a long long time and wanted to grab a new board. They had loads of different boards to test out out front which was awesome and one of the employees spent a lot of time with me helping me pick which one was best for me. It was great and super unexpected honestly. I really can't recommend this place enough!! read more

Highly recommended by a friend and definitely happy with our experience. Jonas was super helpful and informative when explaining the process and our options. Didn't try to upsell and was transparent with his recommendations. We had a hard time finding options for my tween girl elsewhere but she had lots of good options here. The online inventory is fairly accurate of in-stock items. He was very patient and allowed the kids to participate in assembling their boards. He also took the time to have the kids try the boards out and offer additional adjustments for optimal success. read more

Status Skateshop - Allowing the child to participate in the process and providing education to increase interest. - Skate Shops Near Me - Carlsbad, California

This is hands down the best place to buy a surfskate board, especially if you're totally new to the sport. Jonas was extremely patient and literally taught me everything I needed to know about getting my first board. I had never skated in my life so he got me on a few boards so I could figure out which one I preferred. He even showed me some quick tips to start learning how to ride. There was a huge selection to pick from and I was able to customize my board. Ive been to other skate shops and no one has as much knowledge and inventory of surf skates. This was so worth the 30 minute drive. I'm so glad I was able to buy my first board from this shop and Jonas, specifically. He made my experience so special! And it was awesome to see how much he loves working with the youth in the community! read more

I walked into Status Skateshop last night around 6pm and was immediately greeted by an employee (Zyler). This young man saw I was with my 2 year old son and was immediately helpful. He asked what I was looking for and I asked him for a tech deck for my son. He pointed me in the right direction but it was more than what I wanted to spend on a toy my son will inevitably lose. Zyler gave me one of his own tech decks which was above and beyond what anyone will do for a child and I'm so grateful for his generosity. I ended up buying a Santa Cruz t-shirt for my son and a Santa Cruz mug for myself. Thank you Zyler for being awesome. Ed read more

Took my son here for his big 10 and they couldn't of been more understanding and straight forward. I've lived in North County pretty much all my life and although I'm not a particularly sporty person, my husband skates and snowboards so I've been into several local sporting goods shops anytime he needs new gear. We've been to the chain stores, small mom-n-pop shops, warehouse sales - just about anywhere you could think of to score exactly what he's looking for at the time. This time it was my turn; I got rollerskates and pads for my birthday and refused to actually try them out until I got a helmet, too. We found Status Skateshop online and went to visit them in the heart of Carlsbad Village on a Saturday afternoon to see what kind of inventory they had. First off, A+ for customer service! We were greeted right away, and the girl at the counter (I unfortunately didn't catch her name) helped me find exactly the kind of helmet I was looking for. While we were there, my husband also picked out some new accessories for his skateboard and probably made a mental shopping list of all the other cool things I'd bet he'll go back for. For a fairly small location, they really make great use of their space and have a killer selection of gear and apparel. At the risk of sounding totally cliche, as we left Status Skateshop I was telling my husband how I just felt they had "really good vibes" there. We will definitely be back soon. read more

I bought a deck on their website for in store pickup and planned to pick it up next day because we were driving back from LA, but we made it to Carlsbad about 5-10 mins before closing so I called to see if there's any chance they'd still let me pick up my board and they said absolutely and kept the doors open for me! Super cool of them! My fiance and I will definitely be back to look around!! read more

Last week, I had a very unique problem with my longboard truck kingpin, and even though the folks at status did not carry or ever sold the truck I owned, they spent 2+ hours troubleshooting it with me, trying different solutions until we got it right. In the end, they did not charge me at all, even though they provided me with their tools, washers, knowledge, and above-and-beyond attitude! 10 years or so ago, I was a skate shop employee myself back in Chicago, and our shop was known for having excellent customer service. Since I left, I never met a skateshop with the same level of excellence, until I came to Status last week. I dare to say they did even better! Today, I just purchased online a new set ot Carver cx trucks from them. I could have ordered from anywhere else, but I wanted to make sure I gave my business to hard working, big hearted human beings such as Brian, Zyler and the whole Status staff. Thank you, I am a lifetime customer from now on! read more

We bought our daughters first skateboard here, the employees were extremely helpful and knowledgeable. We've come back a few times to buy a new helmet and a board for my husband as well. Our most recent trip we wanted to buy new wheels for my daughters board, the man that helped us was so great and even taught my daughter how to change them. He was so patient and didn't rush her at all. She was so stoked she was able to do it! We absolutely love this place. read more

Can't give this place enough praises! We were vacationing for the holiday weekend and I wanted to get my boys some boards as a reward for their hard work at our business. I called around specifically looking for long boards. There weren't many places that had a selection of more than a few boards. This place had a great selection and more styles of boards than I've ever seen. The guys here are we're AMAZING! Being a completely uneducated person in skateboards, they took the time to explain the differences between wheels, boards, trucks, lengths, etc. they even had a few to try out which was great! I now know more about skate boards than I thought was possible. Their wide selection made it easy to get exactly what we wanted and completely within my budget. The other thing that really impressed me was that I told them what I wanted to pay and they tried to stay within that budget when showing me options. They didn't try to pressure me into higher end items that I didn't need but they also took time to explain the differences so I could make an informed choice. I don't think I've ever been more happy with a transaction and my boys both have boards that they LOVE and suit them and their individual personalities perfectly! read more

I work as a marketing and event coordinator for a large company, and we often raffle off items as part of our events or sponsorships. We recently ordered a custom longboard skateboard from an online company. As someone who knows nothing about skateboarding, I was overwhelmed them the board arrived, and it was in pieces. I knew there was no way I could put that board together. I found Status Skate Shop on Yelp and am so glad I did. Kendra and Zyler were beyond helpful and friendly! Zyler built the board for me, and it looked great when he was done!! This will be our new go-to Skate Shop for any of our event needs!! Keep up the amazing for Zyler and Kendra!! read more

My kids and I found this shop unexpectedly this morning. We bought our first skateboards ( three of them) and we are not only super happy with them but our experience there was excellent. My son has been asking for a board for a few months and I always put it to the side because not knowing anything about skateboarding made me feel intimidated and overwhelmed to walk into a shop. I'm so glad we stumbled on this business. Everyone there was super friendly and very patient. We are beginners and they explained the difference between boards and gave us the best recommendations, they even gave us a mini lesson. I've never left a store so happy! Thank you everyone at Status for making this experience a breeze and exciting! read more

This is such a cool place! I love that they have extra space to try things out. The staff is so friendly and even if you have never set foot on a skateboard you don't feel intimidated to ask questions or have a conversation. My husband skates and wanted to check this place out. By the end my daughter wanted a skateboard... guess we might be coming back sooner rather than later. They had this cool scale model of a skate park that everyone could play with and tons of different style boards to try out. Even the other customers were supportive and wanted to talk. Such a cool vibe and we will definitely be back! read more

Jonas hooked me up with a sick new custom build for cruising about cbad. Not new to skating but newer to cruiser boards and never had my own (just buddies I've kept too long). Jonas walked me through all the variations of decks sizes, trucks, wheels differences, plus a bunch of other random questions I had. Really enjoying the new stick so far. Their inventory consists of everything skateboarding, from street-cruise-longboard, they seem to have it. Thanks! read more

We stopped in after Pizza Port to show our 2 year old son the skateboards. The guys working here were SO NICE and helpful! Wow, excellent service. Found this skate shop in Carlsbad village. Very nice set up they have. Took my son to get a fingerboard or obstacles for his finger board. Son was very happy to have found this place. Definitely coming back. read more

We surprised my kids (ages 7 and 9) for Christmas to get their first boards. Jonas was so kind and really took his time picking out gear that would be best for each child. This was not just a purchase but an experience for each child. You can tell this business and the employee's truly care. They want to encourage & nurture new customer's love of the sport. I am so grateful we decided to go to Status over ordering online. My kids have been skating non-stop and haven't stopped talking about how cool Jonas was. Jonas went above and beyond to make my kids feel special and helped with their confidence. This customer service is priceless! Thank you status! read more

Walked in thinking I was going to be sold a board that's better for powerslides, I was surprised that they weren't trying to sell me anything. Jona busted out slides on my board and said there's nothing I can do besides practice and taught me for 20 minutes. I usually buy from skate one because I feel like most skate shops up charge what's online, however I will definitely come back to this shop regardless of any up charge bc the customer service was too good read more

Wonderful selection and amazing customer service. We came here and ended up buying our daughter her first skateboard. They were so helpful and no pressure at all. This review is overdue. I am a beginner skater and have been searching for a skate tool I needed. During Covid I had a very hard time finding it. As restrictions begin to be lifted and stores begin to be open; I took a vacation and wanted to skate near where we stayed. I forgot I needed this tool and searched at local skateboard shops with out luck many shops didn't even know what I was looking for. I was so shocked because shops should know all the tools that are on the market if they carry them or not. Well I found a shop that knew their tools and by chance, the owner was testing the tool out that I wanted. He was willing to give the one he had to me I was so delight!! I finally found it. As I shopped his store further he carried supplies that I also needed by singles of extra bolts not forced to buy a whole package. I really was impressed on the knowledge and care the store provided. I felt the vibe was really sincere to getting you what you really only need. I wish I was local to return here often. But when I return or pass through I will make a stop here to shop and visit. In the meantime I will visit their on line shop. Keep up the great job so when my friends stop by they will experience what I did! Great products and services! read more
