This is hands down the best place to buy a surfskate board, especially if you're totally new to the sport. Jonas was extremely patient and literally taught me everything I needed to know about getting my first board. I had never skated in my life so he got me on a few boards so I could figure out which one I preferred. He even showed me some quick tips to start learning how to ride. There was a huge selection to pick from and I was able to customize my board. Ive been to other skate shops and no one has as much knowledge and inventory of surf skates. This was so worth the 30 minute drive. I'm so glad I was able to buy my first board from this shop and Jonas, specifically. He made my experience so special! I walked into Status Skateshop last night around 6pm and was immediately greeted by an employee (Zyler). This young man saw I was with my 2 year old son and was immediately helpful. He asked what I was looking for and I asked him for a tech deck for my son. He pointed me in the right direction but it was more than what I wanted to spend on a toy my son will inevitably lose. Zyler gave me one of his own tech decks which was above and beyond what anyone will do for a child and I'm so grateful for his generosity. I've lived in North County pretty much all my life and although I'm not a particularly sporty person, my husband skates and snowboards so I've been into several local sporting goods shops anytime he needs new gear. We've been to the chain stores, small mom-n-pop shops, warehouse sales - just about anywhere you could think of to score exactly what he's looking for at the time. This time it was my turn; I got rollerskates and pads for my birthday and refused to actually try them out until I got a helmet, too. We found Status Skateshop online and went to visit them in the heart of Carlsbad Village on a Saturday afternoon to see what kind of inventory they had. First off, A+ for customer service! We were greeted right away, and the girl at the counter (I unfortunately didn't catch her name) helped me find exactly the kind of helmet I was looking for. While we were there, my husband also picked out some new accessories for his skateboard and probably made a mental shopping list of all the other cool things I'd bet he'll go back for. For a fairly small location, they really make great use of their space and have a killer selection of gear and apparel. At the risk of sounding totally cliche, as we left Status Skateshop I was telling my husband how I just felt they had "really good vibes" there. We will definitely be back soon. read more

Last week, I had a very unique problem with my longboard truck kingpin, and even though the folks at status did not carry or ever sold the truck I owned, they spent 2+ hours troubleshooting it with me, trying different solutions until we got it right. In the end, they did not charge me at all, even though they provided me with their tools, washers, knowledge, and above-and-beyond attitude! 10 years or so ago, I was a skate shop employee myself back in Chicago, and our shop was known for having excellent customer service. Since I left, I never met a skateshop with the same level of excellence, until I came to Status last week. I dare to say they did even better! Today, I just purchased online a new set ot Carver cx trucks from them. I could have ordered from anywhere else, but I wanted to make sure I gave my business to hard working, big hearted human beings such as Brian, Zyler and the whole Status staff. Can't give this place enough praises! We were vacationing for the holiday weekend and I wanted to get my boys some boards as a reward for their hard work at our business. I called around specifically looking for long boards. There weren't many places that had a selection of more than a few boards. This place had a great selection and more styles of boards than I've ever seen. The guys here are we're AMAZING! Being a completely uneducated person in skateboards, they took the time to explain the differences between wheels, boards, trucks, lengths, etc. they even had a few to try out which was great! I now know more about skate boards than I thought was possible. Their wide selection made it easy to get exactly what we wanted and completely within my budget. The other thing that really impressed me was that I told them what I wanted to pay and they tried to stay within that budget when showing me options. They didn't try to pressure me into higher end items that I didn't need but they also took time to explain the differences so I could make an informed choice. This is such a cool place! I love that they have extra space to try things out. The staff is so friendly and even if you have never set foot on a skateboard you don't feel intimidated to ask questions or have a conversation. My husband skates and wanted to check this place out. My kids and I found this shop unexpectedly this morning. We bought our first skateboards ( three of them) and we are not only super happy with them but our experience there was excellent. Didn't catch the lady's name but she was very helpful and nice. They also had a lil skate area in back and they had a finger board set up for who ever wanted to finger board. This review is overdue. I am a beginner skater and have been searching for a skate tool I needed. During Covid I had a very hard time finding it. As restrictions begin to be lifted and stores begin to be open; I took a vacation and wanted to skate near where we stayed. I forgot I needed this tool and searched at local skateboard shops with out luck many shops didn't even know what I was looking for. I was so shocked because shops should know all the tools that are on the market if they carry them or not. Well I found a shop that knew their tools and by chance, the owner was testing the tool out that I wanted. He was willing to give the one he had to me I was so delight!! I finally found it. As I shopped his store further he carried supplies that I also needed by singles of extra bolts not forced to buy a whole package. I really was impressed on the knowledge and care the store provided. I felt the vibe was really sincere to getting you what you really only need. I wish I was local to return here often. But when I return or pass through I will make a stop here to shop and visit.
