This spot has potential but missed the mark a bit! Was craving for a nice good Bavarian Pretzel to try out as it's something that's a must when you think of German food. Gave it a try and felt like we receive nothing more than a frozen pretzel that was heated up and sprayed with butter in a can with salt sprinkled on top. Once I saw the butter spray can I knew. This local spot is more on the dingy and dirty side, inside and out. My experience while waiting for the order, while observing the interactions between the employees, didn't give a customer friendly vibe nor did anyone crack a smile. The funnel cake did look amazing as it was being prepared fresh to order. But I think if you wanna try a good Bavarian pretzel, might be better to try another local spot or restaurant as this pretzel was a large 10 inch one but was nothing better than a frozen store bought pretzel it seems. read more

I like my pretzels crunchy and a little knotty! Had to stop at Alpine Pretzels and try their 10 in Pretzel with cheese sauce. Twisty, warm, half salted and soft inside was the perfect pretzel for me. This place is small nothing fancy. They make the pretzels fresh and funnel cakes. Waited a couple of minutes and ate my pretzel at the outside seating area. read more

Full disclosure: We did not eat here! We walked in right off the street and the place looked so dirty. It's definitely not a place I'd want to order food from. It doesn't look like the pretzels are homemade either. The staff wasn't overly friendly or welcoming inside. However I did hear from a local that this place has the largest pretzels and are worth the visit. But that was after we had our experience. read more

The pretzel haus should close until they can find an employee that can offer some hospitality. I came in to buy a funnel cake for my children, and while paying cash, the employee was rolling her eyes and staring at me. We were her only customers in the store, and she was aggravated we were there. We waited on the funnel cake, and she acted angry that we waited, as if we were supposed to leave! Instead of saying thank you and handing us the prepared funnel cake, she rudely called out our receipt number! NO ONE ELSE WAS IN THE STORE! I would have never walked in if I'd seen this woman first. Cute little spot in the middle of it all with great people watching! We love pretzels so of course we ordered their large one, th pretzel bites, a jalapeño pretzel and a funnel cake which was a great surprise to see. The place was packed and the pretzels were good but I have to give it 2 stars and that is only because we ended up paying $45 for our snack and only had one soda! The other part that was a HUGE let down for us was to see them taking the pretzels out of plastic packaging and heating them up. Quite the buzz kill. However, the funnel cakes are freshly made to order. The pretzels were yummy, but each small ramekin of cheese dip cost $1 and it was basically the cheese from an institutional sized can. Not consistent at all. We came this Spring and the place was much cleaner and our pretzel was fresh and delicious. We went yesterday and the pretzel Tasted stale and it was filthy! The two girls working were more interested in goofing off than actually working. It was was so gross! Not sure if we will return. read more

I'm confused by this place. There was a small sign out front for Alpine Pretzel Haus, but like it's combined with the Granny's funnel cake place? So it's the same place with 2 different names?? Went in there for a funnel cake (it was fine) and it was a very dingy place. Food wasn't displayed nicely, signage wasn't great. There were a few tables in the back, it reminded me of an arcade snack bar.. They could just do so much more to make it inviting and really advertise, especially the pretzels. Considering this is a completely German themed town there should be a really awesome pretzel shop with all different varieties, sizes, different mustards etc. I think they did offer like one big german pretzel but it was more about the funnel cakes and ice cream. read more

Basically a mall pretzel but at twice the price. Took a frozen pretzel and warmed it up.

Gross place. Employee was licking fingers then serving food. Scooped ice cream off funnel cake then served it bare handed.

You can't go to Helen and not get a pretzel! My girlfriend and I stopped in and got the smaller pretzel to split with some beer cheese! It was great! The counter person was very friendly and attentive. The inside isn't the nicest aesthetically, but they serve pretzels! It's not a restaurant people! read more

Not my favorite pretzel in the world. It wasn't horrible but defiantly too salty. The beer cheese was also so-so as well. Very small and dirty but defiantly caters to tourists. I wouldn't come again. read more

Everyone wants to experience Germany when they come to Helen and why not with a traditional pretzel? This is a small place, old and very dirty. The floors, tables and counter were slippery from all the grease. The teenage boy working there was very rude, did not want to be there and did not want to serve anyone. The Bavarian sourdough pretzel was delicious but overpriced. DON'T get the Beer cheese sauce, it was disgusting! I don't know how long it sat there for and it was clumpy and looked like vomit. Pretty expensive for refrigerated pretzels. The gentleman fixing our pretzels was only gloved with one hand and used that hand to touch money and then directly touched our food without changing gloves. Stopped in here recently. The cashier told me that the 7 oz. pretzel was the same price as the 5 oz. so I went with the larger pretzel to share. What did he not tell me is that they were different kinds of pretzels. The pretzel I ended up with had a King's Hawaiian Roll texture. Not what you'd want for a pretzel. I also noticed the authentic Bavarian aerosol butter that was heavily applied to the pretzel before being heated. The pretzel came out so greasy that I had to blot it with paper towels. In end result was inedible. After I tried a small piece, the rest went into the trash. Carnival pretzels are better. Will not return the next time I'm in town. read more

Food was great. Service was bad - when we walked in there was no one working the counter. When he finally came back and took our order he was out the door with the timer in his hand. Then rushed back in, put our order on the counter and away he went again. But our order was still cold - we had to go find him outside smoking to have him reheat our cheese sauce.
