So many wonderful people working here. They do a great job. They cover your entire nail with the right amount of polish so your nail polish lasts two-three weeks. I specifically requested that she leave the length on my nails. She cut them completely too short. She cut my skin on my finger in 2 places and I gasped because it hurt, and she said "It needed to come off." I don't think it needed to come off to the point that I bled. She also cut 2 of my toes in the pedicure. I am one day into the polish and it's already peeling off. The actual worst pedicure I've ever had in my life. read more

I was NOT understood when I asked for a certain color application that Angel Nails inside the Wilson Meijer clearly understood and has applied for me several times now. I was on Alpine so hoped they could do the same, but the owner, I think, was too busy getting his pedicure to listen well enough to understand my request! I wish they'd take a conversational English course to understand English speakers better! We give them our business and listen to them chatter in a foreign language, making No Attempt to better understand us. I won't return! read more

I have been here quite a few times and every time I'm not disappointed. Just wanted a quick manicure with my nails dipped with the powder nail polish. They really do a very thorough job here. Getting all the cuticles trimmed back and cleaned up nice. They spend quite a bit of time just making sure the nails are the best they could do. There are plenty of spaces and nail experts there, So I have never had to wait when I walked in. Try this place out especially if you're not a planner like I am. No appointments needed. read more

In grand rapids for a girls' getaway, we decided we needed a pedicure. They were able to fit us in, which was nice! They were busy, but our wait was short (about 10 minutes). My friend and I both had the VIP pedicure, which included a 4-step sugar scrub/mask/lotion and a hot stone massage (stones were barely lukewarm, and the lady I had didn't have the best pressure for the massage. The gentleman my friend had was better, she said). The color selection was HUGE! Overall, I'm quite satisfied with my pedicure....I have happy feet!! The prices are VERY reasonable, as well. Not impressed. I decided to try this place based on reviews which were good. That was not my experience. This was one of the most half ass pedicures I've ever gotten. The guy who did it was more interested in doing everything but my pedicure- answering the phone about 5 times, watching television, having extensive conversations, looking around at what everyone else was doing, etc. Since he was so distracted, the "massage" portion was totally inadequate. Everyone around me seemed to be getting much more attention with their services. The polish was ok. But I really didn't get a full pedicure for someone to simply polish my toenails. So I went in today for a new set of nails and OMG I love them!! Best nails I've gotten ever!! I recommend Alpine Nail & Spa if you'd like to be pampered. Kind of upset. My friends all told me this place was great so I went and got shellac done the night before Valentine's Day, and I had an appointment, and still had to wait a half hour before they took me back. I understand they were busy but my manicurist completely skipped my hand massage and also now a week later most of my shellac has peeled off :( I went today to show him and reschedule to get it redone but he wouldn't really accommodate my work schedule, so now I have an appt to get it fixed tmrw at 10AM... I just feel like if you messed up you should accommodate to your upset customer. I will give them a chance to fix it tmrw but I'm really not impressed so far. EDIT - went back today only to be more disappointed. He was going to redo the shellac for free, but having the same guy do a horrible job with the shallac first time I decide I wanted to just go with acrylics, well nope I would have to pay for that (they both cost $25 so I don't see the big deal) anyways I offered to pay for them still and he said he wouldn't have time, but he would have time for the shellac, I'm just frustrated with this place and the way they handle the situation. I went here to get a fill for my acrylic nails since it was Sunday and everywhere else was closed or farther than I was willing to travel. I read the mixed reviews, however decided to give them a shot. Short wait, no problem. But when I did get serviced, the guy doing my nails filed down my bare nail so much my fingers were painful, sensitive, and warm to the touch. I thought I was being dramatic but I recently removed my acrylics and there are craters where he buffed them! There is a line where layers of my nails were sawed off to the point where it was burning and painful. Service was ok although I was constantly rushed to pay. Very little nail polish selection if you aren't getting shellac or gel. Cheap services but you get what you pay for. Not planning on coming back...nails are permanently damaged and I now have to wait until they grow out for them to be normal. I do not recommend. read more

Personally, I will not be going back there. During the manicure, they did not prep my nails fully for the acrylics, used actual scissors to cut off excess acrylic. The edges of my nails were pretty sloppy and uneven. And my friend spent over 2 hours soaking them in acetone to get them off, but they would not come off, even after having them on for 4 weeks. I have never had to try that hard to get my acrylics off. read more

I've never been disappointed with any pedicure I've gotten. My feet leave feeling and looking incredible! I had one bad experience with acrylics there but I try not to judge off of one visit. Highly recommend their deluxe pedicures though. They give a great massage with oil and hot rocks and oh my word it's amazing! Paid $30 to get a shellac manicure to enjoy over Christmas, 4 days later 3 of my nails are completely chipped off. They look terrible. I was planning to go to the store to complain today & hopefully get them fixed but trying to take alpine from downtown is a nightmare- it's completely backed up with traffic. Now I have to go to another salon to get them fixed & will have to pay even more money. This will end up being my most expensive manicure ever. I will not be back & I'll be sure to spread the word. read more

Buyer Beware. I'm from out of town so I'm not familiar with the local shops. This nail salon looked busy so I took that as a good sign. I was taken back for my pedicure quickly and was rushed and pressured to make a color choice. The nail color selection is old, off-brand, and visibly separating and clumpy. Once seated in the pedicure chair, I began to feel uneasy, there were dirty towels just left on the floor--employees just walked by them and never picked them up--, clutter and mess everywhere, and most disturbingly, I never saw them remove the manicure tools from a sterile pack. I asked about that and at first no one seemed to understand my question. Finally, one of the workers said that the instruments were cleaned. I sure hope so. The pedicure ended up being adequate. Nothing special. No massage. Just as bare bones as you could get. I asked for a gel manicure and that was an absolute disaster. The manicurist did a very sloppy job on my cuticles, leaving huge chunks that weren't pushed back and yet cutting me on other areas. Then after filing and cutting my cuticles, she just started painting instead of sending me to wash my hands. So you can imagine how clumpy and messy the polish looked. She also didn't bother moisturizing my hands or forearms with lotion or oil. There was no hand massage. She just skipped right over it. The polish she used was so old that it was separating and to try to compensate she put FIVE layers instead of the normal two layers. I asked her about moisturizing and she looked at me a little blankly. When finished, it was an uneven, sloppy, jagged, bumpy mess. Then, she brought out the oil and dumped it on my hands and arms. I have never had a manicurist try to moisturize after the manicure is over. Clearly, she forgot. I would have preferred a sincere apology. I've worked in the service industry before and I know what good service is and how to provide it. There is no need to get nasty so I politely asked for the manager. The manicurist became rude and hostile but the manager spoke with me. I told her I was unhappy with the service and why. She offered to redo it with a color I would like. I didn't appreciate the insinuation that the mistake was mine and not her employee's. The color was good; the execution was not. I refused her offer. I got the gel removed, paid for the pedicure and left. When I return to Grand Rapids, I and my money will never return to Alpine Nails. read more
