This company could easily get 5 stars but my vacation fell short of spectacular because of a couple overlooked details...most importantly they failed to tell me that the cabin I booked was in an area that requires 4WD or chains in winter. We didn't find this out until it was too late. There was a warning sign on the road going up to the cabin which we didn't see on our drive in because it was dark - we saw it on our way back to the cabin after our first day out being tourists & then it started snowing. I have a large SUV (pathfinder) but it is not equipped with all wheel drive. The snow shower ended up becoming an unexpected snow storm that left us stranded on the mountain for 3 days. After a day & a half we ran out of food. I called the office and they sent someone in a 4WD vehicle to drop off some salt, a shovel, and some frozen pizza & muffins to hold us over. This all could have been avoided if we given notice to come prepared. I had so many things planned to do and we lost 3 days because the roads were covered in snow and ice and were too steep for my vehicle to climb in those conditions. On day 3, the snow and ice had melted enough that my husband was able to scrape tire paths in the road to allow us to escape. This took him hours of hard labor. I was traumatized from an unsuccessful attempt (with our vehicle losing traction, sliding backwards, & landing in the ditch) that by the time we got off the mountain I was too afraid to go back to the cabin again. I called customer service and told them we were checking out early & apologized because we didn't do the dishes & strip the bed before we left which was required in our contract. On the positive side: customer service is responsive & very easy to reach, the cabin was clean & well kept, the fireplace worked wonderfully & kept us warm, and their prices are fair. Like I said, had we not had such a bad experience trying to get off the mountain, they'd be getting 5 stars. read more

This was my third time to The mountains, first time using Alpine Mountain Chalets and enjoyed every moment of it. Customer service was great leading up to our arrival. We got a call the morning of our reservation to get our code to get into the cabin and they double checked to make sure we had the email they sent with directions since GPS will send you the wrong way. We stayed in "Little Bearadise" and it was amazing. Great views, not up any ridiculously steep hills, only a 20 min drive to Pigeon Forge and a 30-40 min drive to Gatlinburg depending on traffic. Everything inside the cabin was great, no WiFi though but for us, that's what we wanted anyway. Jacuzzi worked perfectly, had everything you need to make meals. Just make sure you bring nonstick spray for the pots and pans (learned the hard way). Bed was decent and wasn't as bad as others made it seem. Even though there is a cabin right next door, you still feel like you have a private and intimate atmosphere. Make sure you bring your own firewood and lighters, as well as charcoal since there is a small permanent charcoal grill out front. We will definitely be staying here again. read more

Staff gave us another room but we had to wait to get in it after staying up the entire night scared to death to sit down on anything. The ptsd lingered for the duration of our stay even in the newest cabin which was MUCH better. Staff showed no empathy!!! Not sure if it was because we are African American or because we used Groupon , we still paid over $400 and we wasn't even offered an extra day nor refunded for them not ensuring they had a clean room free of bed bugs !!!!!!!!! Your honeymoon is a once and a lifetime opportunity that u can share with your kids and family and that was taken away from us!! Beware !!!! Rented Runway 33 during December 2021. The ballisters on the stairs going to the third floor we're lose and kept falling out. The handrail is too wide to grab. Many light bulbs burned out, inside and out. Window coverings are completely see through including baths and bedrooms at driveway level. The windows, all doors, and some walls covered with years of dirt. The dryer makes a huge, constant banging noise when running. The hot tub did not work. The TV did not work. Called to get that fixed but maintenance misled us twice saying they were loading up to head our way. Never showed. Pool table is old and beaten up. No discernible smoke detectors. Exterior door knobs do not work properly. read more

We stayed at the cabin titled "Skinny Dippin. Overall, it was a great cabin. The location was great, the cabin and hot tub were all clean. The stream behind the cabin was even nicer than anticipated. The bed was extremely comfortable. The only problem we had was with the Wifi. When placing my reservation, I was told cabins with Wifi are always more expensive. I decided to go with the Wifi option anyway because we really wanted it. However, after we arrived, we found the Wifi had a password. This shouldn't be an issue, but after searching all emails/information binders/the modem itself, no password could be found. When I called the office, they didn't even know there was a password. They did try to help and called the actual owner of the cabin for more information, but that didn't end up providing any resolution. They eventually just ignored my request. I will say I am a little peeved that I specifically paid extra for this amenity and did not receive it due to sheer ignorance of the property. Not to end on a foul note, I will emphasize again that our overall stay was great. I would definitely recommend a cabin over any of the hotels in the area. read more

We have LOVED our cabin and are sad to have to leave tomorrow! We stayed in the Lumber Jack Rack and it was immaculate! Very clean and stocked well. The only thing I will say is that we couldn't get any of the TV's to work besides the one in master bedroom. We didn't mind though because we didn't come to watch tv:) Great mountain view and the game room was a lot of fun for our kiddos! read more

We stayed in the cabin "skinny dippin". We enjoyed our stay but my children, who slept on the couch alternate nights, had bites all over the arm and neck area closest to the back of the couch. I'm thankful we didn't open up the couch bed, I imagine it would have been worse! My biggest frustration is that when I contacted the office about it, they did not respond at all, they completely ignored me. This concerns me because I realize that they can't necessarily know there's an issue while just cleaning up after guests. When informed of the issue, they didn't acknowledge the problem or offer an apology - bottom line, they don't care. If you get this cabin, avoid the couch! If they can't do something as basic as offering an acknowledgement and apology, I'm guessing they wouldn't take the difficult steps necessary to remove bed bugs or other small bugs. read more

My wife made reservations Kathy over the phone, a woman later described as "old and forgetful", while Kathy seemed to be traveling and was obviously out of the office. We were also told later that she doesn't live in Tennessee and had left out several details on our reservation, including my wife's email. We were told that we were " All set. Call the day before to pay the remainder and get the address and code to the cabin." We were told that we were not only getting an amazing rate on the cabin due to the off season, but we were also getting a night for free! Kathy told us that both us and our dogs were scheduled to arrive the morning of November 10th between 12 and 3, and our departure was to be November 15th at 10am. We didn't hear another word from Alpine Mountain Chalets. Not another sound. Not an email, not a phone call, not a voicemail. We assumed that the verbal contract Kathy had given us, along with the $267.98 deposits we'd given, had insured our spot inside our honeymooners paradise. The morning of the 9th we began the 12 hour drive to Pigeon Forge TN, from our home in Florida. We began to reach out and find out where we were heading, so we tried to call the elusive Kathy back at the Alpine Mountain Chalets. We searched our emails for some kind of confirmation, but found none. It was only after an hour long google search that we found the number and another hour of calling before we got ahold of someone to talk to about our reservation. Kathy had neglected to inform us that there were documents to sign, or that we should be expecting an email. She'd not even put our emails or phone numbers on file so that someone else could remedy the situation! We laughed with the surly voice of Rhonda on the other end of the phone about how Kathy was getting a little older, and she'd been known to be extremely forgetful. To please excuse the error on their part. We were told that we were going to get an email with a digital signature, and that it was of vital importance that it be signed IMMEDIATELY and returned. My wife handled the email from the passenger seat while I drove trying to find enough data coverage to receive the email and to get the address to the cabin. When we arrived we came into a half cleaned cabin with a broken hot tub. which took two days to fix. The day of the 14th we headed out to our scheduled hike for the day. We spent 6 hours hiking and on the way back to the cabin checked our bank account to find that we'd been charged and additional $109 by Alpine Mountain. We called to find out that the company had double booked and had come into our cabin and cleaned it out. We were informed that we were charged for the dogs (a fee that had already been administered...or so we thought) and that we were scheduled to leave on the morning of the 14th. These people had not left a voice mail, a note, or a text. Had we gone back to the cabin before we called, we would've found our things gone along with our dogs..and no vacancy in our cabin. When we arrived we were treated with complete disrespect. Rhonda was rude and went as far as to ask my wife if she could count, using her fingers as an example. When I approached her about the extremely rude way she was conducting herself towards my wife and I, she called 911, explaining that I was " escalating the situation", upon their arrival the not only disregarded her complaint but sympathized with our cause and encouraged us to file a formal complaint with the BBB. We eventually packed our belongings back into the back of our vehicle and headed back down south. We stopped just outside of the small town to gather our thoughts and our belongings into some sort of recognizable pile. Parked in a gas station parking lot, we sorted through the things that had been hastily thrown into bags and boxes. Our clothing thrown together with food, our newly acquired keepsakes jammed into corners of luggage. Some things we threw away because of the butter being spread all over the place. We had to buy a cooler to put the inhabitants of our refrigerator in, even though a lot of it had to be thrown out. As we went though the things that we'd been forced to cram into the back of our rental vehicle, we noted things that were missing and/or broken. Made a list and saw not only the dollar amount that had been wasted on this trip, but also the amount of personal emotional loss that had happened here read more

There are two parts to this review. 1. The service from Alpine Mountain has been near perfect. They are friendly and responsive. We had some problems with the property upon check in (see below). They were resolved quickly, but this property was admittedly not up to their standards (they just took it over as property managers) and probably shouldn't have been rented. 2. The property is functionally fine. However there are many details that are overlooked that just kind of make a customer go, ehhh. For example, there were not coffee filters or salt and pepper shakers (we had to buy the most very basic necessities), the light bulbs on the vanity were all different, some of the blinds are broken, one of the TV's is cracked (but still functional). We went into the hot tub the first night (it was already dark out). The hot tub is supposed to be emptied and cleaned after each stay. Clearly it wasn't because there was a Bud Light bottle cap in the tub. Though it was gross, I have to say, the people that came out, emptied and SCRUBBED the tub clean. They also noticed other minor things that needed taken care of and addressed those. They acknowledged that the property needs work to be up to their standards. They also had someone come out to blow the leaves. My husband sort of expected a call from the property manager and we still might get one. I understand that they just took over the property, and it certainly was priced fairly, but for probably less than the cost of a 2 night stay, they could have this property looking much, much better. read more

Last year was the first time we stayed with Alpine Mountain Chalets. During our trip the cabin we booked (secluded shamrock) was well decorated, had a good vibe and our stay was nothing short of fantastic. Hoping to recreate that vacation we booked with them again. Long story short: the place was infested with insects in the home as well as bats in the roof. The hot tub does not properly function and had so much chlorine it stripped the green coloring out of my shorts (they are now pink), the jacuzzi was not only dirty but did not work either, the buttons were literally falling out of it. The home was covered in cobwebs and dust, washing machine had other people's clothing in it. Every one of our dishes was dirty, not a smudge here and there, there was food residue on them. My wife scrubbed the home top to bottom the first day we were here to ease our discomfort. If you are looking to book here, do NOT choose to stay in the sugar shack. Extremely disappointing. I've provided photographs to show I did not make any of this up. It really was that bad. read more

Customer Service is a HUGE opportunity for the staff members I had to deal with at Alpine Mountain Chalets located in Tennessee! My husband and I and two other married couples were traveling 14 hours from Fort Lauderdale Florida for our dream vacation in Tennessee. WHAT A HUGE MISTAKE! For starters a lady by the name of Stephanie was our reservation representative and she clearly did not know the layout of the cabins. Being that we had previously vacationed several years ago at a different resort in Tennessee, we DID NOT want to make the same mistake of booking a cabin high up in the mountains this vacation because we were stuck up in our cabin for three days that year completely snowed in! After explaining this to Stephanie she still booked our cabin RISE-N-SHINE up in the mountains after I clearly requested a bottom cabin with snow road service! To make matters worse we were contacted by Stephanie only 1hour upon arrival only to be told that our cabin was inaccessible due to it being snowed in!! In addition to that the bigger problem became the staffs unwillingness to work with us on finding another cabin that was equal to the 3 bedroom that we had originally paid for and booked. So when I inquired about another cabin equally priced to what We paid, Stephanie stated that they can't move us to any other cabin because they were not going to pay multiple cleaning fees even though it was there fault for lack of knowledge during the booking! then when we lost our cool because we had already been traveling 12+hours and received such a late notice stating we could not stay in the cabin we originally selected, the other owner/so-called manager Tammy got on the phone, and said that since we didn't want to stay in the 2 bedroom cabin that she's offering, then she's just going to process a refund and give us back our money and hung up the phone on me!!!! My group and then had to exit and pull off to the side of the road to discuss things.. After a while I called back and spoke to Tammy again and told her that what she did was totally rude, uncalled for, and unprofessional!! Tammy then decided to try and work with us by switching our cabin from their luxury Rise & Shine to another one called Potting Shed (HORRIBLE)!!!!!upon arrival we noticed that the cleaning crew was still present on the premises and was having a HUGE challenge cleaning the old outdated cabin which had bedding garments literally laying outside on the dirty ground as well as broken mix match appliances displayed in the kitchen. So I called the office back to explain that the cabin was still being cleaned by the crew And to my surprise I got a different staff representative by the name of Kathy which was way more pleasant then her peers in the office, she was able to confirm that the cabin (potting shed) was in very bad shape and hadn't been rented out for several months... She then was able to finally switch us to a more upgraded cabin that was already cleaned and ready for check in. After all we went through I can truly say the only issues we found with the last cabin (Mirage) was the 3 non working fireplaces, which was really needed since the weather was about 20 degrees. read more

Bears Crossing Cabin. Very disappointed. We paid top dollar for the cabin and did not get what we expected or paid for. My family and guests stayed at Bears Crossing 12/20 - 12/24/2013. We expected a well-maintained, fully functioning cabin with advertised cabin and club house recreational and entertainment amenities only to find that this was not the case. We were unable to use any of the three resort club houses promoted on the web site. Notified office who said they would try to contact owners. No success. Therefore, unable to use ping pong tables and arcade games at the club house which children were looking forward to. In the cabin, unable to use the listed air hockey game because it was damaged. The advertised game room with large projection TV for watching football games was unavailable as the cable was not connected. Functionally, there were other issues with the cabin. Shortly after arrival we found the ice maker did not work and there were no ice cube trays for manual ice cube making. Notified office. No repair during the stay. On the lowest level, the door locks on the bathroom doors didn't work. On the second level the bathroom lock was jammed. The fan in the kitchen made so much noise that it had to be turned off, allowing smoke from cooking and oven heat to accumulate even with window open. The dryer worked on only permanent press. Waste baskets were missing in two bathrooms and adjoining bedrooms. Light bulbs were burned out in the main room and kitchen area. The oven door fell off. The hill behind the cabin was littered with beer cans and even underwear flying from a tree. We sent this report to Alpine Mountain Chalets and asked that they share it with the owner, requesting a response. Received no response from either. read more

We stayed in 3-bedroom cabin Sanctuary for two weeks during month of OCt 2015. We were three couples all intheir 70's. Overall the cabin was wonderful. Of course the pictures in the ad were not like the real thing, the rooms etc were much smaller but after a day or two the place grew on us!! It was clean everything was working, (almost). The coffee pot and the toaster were substituted (Ron came up and gave us new ones, which was wonderful) The Tvs remote DVD wasn't working. But there were 4 TVs so we just found one that did. However there a re a few issues that you need to address if you want people to be satisfied. 1) The refrigerator on the main floor froze everything, We tried everything to adjust it and even Ron looked at it but we had to throw out some food because it could not be eaten. We finally used the downstairs refrigerator which was fine, but inconvenient to go downstairs everytime you wanted something. 2) The dishwasher went through the cycle OK but it didnot for some reason absorb the detergent, the door opened but the contents did not melt and so the dishes were washed only with hot water. So after some tries we washed dishes by hand! The napkins and table cloths in the cupboard were dirty from previous tenants. Fortunately we had brought our own.The barbeque was rusted and dirty, and we had to clean it up before using it. It would be good to ask the owners to put bars in the main floor bathroom. The shower and tub there is the kind where you step into the tub, but a very high step and to get out it is very difficult, in fact one of us did slip and bruised and had to have help getting out. The other two showers are lower and easier. We enjoyed our stay and hope one day to come again. The antique furniture was beautiful and the beds were comfortable. Look elsewhere!!!!! The cabins are ordinary and the road to get to the cabin is very tight and dangerous. Also there were rodents living in the walls of the cabin (sugar shack) and we extremely loud at night causing it to be nearly impossible to get any sleep. Also pretty far from Gatlinburg and pigeon forge. read more

We stayed at Mountain Top Dreams from April 22 through the 28th. This cabin had one of the best views of any we have stayed in, and we have stayed in several. You can sit in the hot tub and look at the mountains! The staff is always very helpful and friendly-we had a few problems with the hot tub but they sent someone out right away and had it fixed. We like that the cabin is out far enough to be in the country yet not too far from town. You get a lot for your money with this cabin-it is nicely decorated and very comfortable. We would definitely stay there again! read more

We stayed in the "And Something Blue" cabin for a long weekend. Cabin was nice, clean and the pictures on the website stood up to the quality. We didn't have much trouble with booking. We actually booked last minute (about 3 days before), and confirmations and documents for signature were sent in a timely manner. We were able to check in sooner than the original 3pm time given. The property is located conveniently off the Parkway. We liked that we weren't too far from the main road. It is a very hilly and windy road, though. Be cautious if booking in Winter. One negative is that website offered 15% discount in the month of November. Discount should have been $48 off, but they only took off $30. Overall, we had a good experience and would use this company again in the future. read more

We stayed in Deer To Us, rented through Alpine Mountain Chalet rentals. The cabin was perfect, very clean, but the water smelled horrible, I didn't report it, just figured all the water there smelled that way. i reported it after we got home, and the lady said, if I had called them, they could have checked and replaced the filter, to solve the problem. the king bed was a little firm for me, but overall, we loved the chalet. it was very peaceful, private. All the ladies, I spoke with were great, made reservations online, the paper work went smoothly, and it was very easy. We were even allowed to check in early. I really like, not having to go to the office. thank you ladies, for, making this trip special for us. we will rent this chalet, again. read more
