For instance, the elevator is a wreck and is almost spooky. 3) Noise. This place was cheaply built with little regard to sound deadening. For instance, windows allow lots of road noise. 4) Front desk staff and management are in constant game-playing mode with room assignments to the point of being ethically concerning, especially if rates are at all a negotiated rate. I will say that the breakfast and dinner staff was very considerate and I would have added another star just for them if the rest of the hotel had not been such a disappointment. Bottom line, simply no where close to the price point they are charging.

We then left the hotel for dinner and on our return to our room we found a ladder set up in front of our room's door. Upon further inspection we found that our room was flooded with over three inches of water from a broken pipe. The maintenance crew helped us get our possessions together. We were told to go to the front desk for room reassignment. Upon arriving at The desk we found out that the flooding affected a total of ten rooms and that they had no other rooms nor could they find anything in the area. Front desk staff did try to help while always maintaining a friendly and helpful demeanor during a difficult time. They earned all available stars.

The rooms are a little run down but we are really only there to sleep, not hang out in our room. This review is about something that happened two weeks ago. We had tickets for a Hogs game for Saturday night. I booked two rooms at the Fairfield... on Friday morning, my doctor called me and told me I would be spending the weekend in the hospital. Ugh! I went to the hospital and after I was sure I was going to be admitted and was going to be stuck there for the entire weekend, I called the Fairfield to cancel our rooms knowing I was going to have to do it at a loss (I told my family they could go without me, but they wanted to be home just in case I needed them). The front desk was sooooo nice ... she canceled the reservation at no charge and was completely empathetic. I was so bummed and I am sure she could hear it in my voice. Thank you so much Fairfield for being so kind. We will be back next season!

After arriving in Door County, Wisconsin we realized all of our medications were left at the hotel in Rockford, Ky. Before we headed back to get it I called to make sure they were there. A wonderful woman by the name of Terry answered, she knew exactly what I was calling to find out. Terry offered, yes OFFERED, to drive it the to Fed Ex office and ship it to Wisconsin where we were staying. She even paid for it, trusting that I would send her a reimbursement. Marriott,Terry is a jewel, please take good care of her. Because of her, we stayed in Marriotts for the rest of our 5,500 mile driving trip. Thank you Terry for being an extraordinary person. It was midnight on a Tuesday night and they had rooms available. The receptionist at the front desk was very nice and friendly! We got what was available for two adults which was the king bed studio. It was on the first floor and had a full kitchen. The king bed was super cozy. Everything was clean and there were no issues with the room or noise. We were just there to sleep so we never checked out the pool. They had an excellent complimentary breakfast! The parking lot was lit up and I felt safe there. We paid $114 for a seven hour stay.

We stayed an entire week and nothing really changed on the buffet. The only kind of fruit is are a whole apple or maybe a whole orange so there's no cut up fruit. And I'm only bringing this up because they mention on their website about this excellent breakfast and it's nowhere near that. The staff is super friendly. The pool looks pretty darn small but if it was winter time I'm sure kids would enjoy having that opportunity to swim. I probably would stay here again, but I would go to the store and buy my own things to eat in my room as opposed to there breakfast.

But it is the porch and deck that are the draws, eccentrically and artistically adorned with comfortable furniture and sitting areas. I also took advantage of the river to launch my kayak for a morning of fishing on the Rock River. It is a short, pretty drive to Byron with good restaurants and bars. Becky and Don are incredibly welcoming hosts.

SO lovely to kick back and relax while watching the river go by. The owners Dee and Becky could not have been more hospitable, and made us feel like old friends. And when we felt like a little more activity or going out to eat, Rockford was an easy 20 minute drive. We are already planning a return trip.

They still haven't refunded my money and it's been two weeks since they cancelled my reservation. I've never had an experience like this with any hotel before.

She was friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable. She went above and beyond when we asked for a New Year's Eve party recommendation. She also gave us the printed Riverview Art Walk pamphlet (the outlined history of architectural pieces is not to be missed, although the Al Capone bar is not yet listed and no mention was made of the fabulous ships-in-bottles) and provided us with a tour of the Sultan room with it's magnificent antiques. Our suite was clean and well appointed. I did check the sheets and mattress and found none of the issues mentioned in previous reviews. Paint seemed fresh and Yvette mentioned that new carpets are to be installed in 2026. It seems that the current owners are attempting to revitalize the hotel and event center. We also enjoyed our river view room. Although we could see the train tracks, they did not appear to be in use and we were never bothered by noise. The view provided a good vantage for New Year's Eve fireworks - which may or may not have been publicly sanctioned. The adjacent mall is still under-occupied but we didn't sense any obvious criminal activity and our car was just fine in the parking lot. We had a good time here and would recommend.

When you build a hotel next to an expressway, some soundproofing would be nice. I have been to many hotels, many Hilton properties near expressways. I don't recall ever being able to clearly hear normal traffic all night long! I am not talking rush hour, I am not talking horns blaring, I am not talking emergency vehicles. Just normal, average vehicular sounds. 3. When I checked in on the App, I read on the app that Diamond members receive 2 snack options when checking. I was looking forward to this, as I did a 5 mile Hike at near by Rock Cut prior to arriving. Apparently, this was no longer the case. 2 bottles of water. I understand this was the typical handout to DM's over the years, that is fine. Don't have it posted somewhere if you are not able to continue to do a snack option. 4. The hot tub and pool temps are very close in range. You can feel the pool was a little cooler, but the hot tub was very tepid. It also appeared that someone loaded the bottom of the hot tub with sand. I don't know from where on a mid-September day as the area pools and beaches are closed. The front desk staff seemed unconcerned when I brought it to their attention. 5. The interior at this location reminds me of Howard Johnson hotels from the mid 1980's. The futuristic, minimalistic orange and white decor. Although, I do appreciate all the hooks.

Additionally the shower drain was broken in a down position so showers were half baths, that's the worst feeling. The hotel is also next to a casino that was blasting beats all night long which was very disruptive to my son and I's sleep. I'll always consider Holdiay Inn last going forward when deciding where to stay.
