Stayed one night for a ski trip at Waterville Valley (30 min away) and Cannon Mountain (20 min…read moreaway) Booking was easy, the website is very clear, all of the Inn rules are easy to review. We arrived to a note with some basic info and informing us that they upgraded our room for free to the Connecticut room which was a very nice surprise as the upgraded room had a Jacuzzi tub. There were instructions to call the owner to let them know what time we wanted to eat breakfast, we accidentally asked for 10 minutes before they start serving and they did accommodate us. The Inn is very cute and cozy, we made use of some of the available brain teaser puzzles that evening. We were able to adjust the temperature of the room easily. The bed was very comfortable and had plenty of warm blankets. The hot water did take a little while to heat up, we started to worry that the water heater was broken but it if did heat up eventually. In the morning we went out to the breakfast area and the inn keeper told us to pick a table to sit, not exactly warm and welcoming but to the point. The breakfast was decent, the fresh fruit was very nice. The inn keepers didn't seem to be the most outgoing/friendly types but nice enough when we got to talking. There is a little driveway to the Inn which was convenient for dropping off all our stuff before parking in the little lot the next driveway up. Overall we had a great stay, and would recommend the Wilderness Inn for local stays, especially with Waterville Valley and Cannon Mountain so close by.

To put it simply: Business owners that blatantly disregard human life and hide behind their own "policies" as an excuse to pocket hard-earned money from their clientele, do not deserve anyone's patronage. If you are interested in the details of what happened, please feel free to read below: I was greatly looking forward to my stay for the upcoming weekend when I made my booking on Sunday, 7/9; however, devastating storms and unprecedented flash floods swept through most of New England the following day. Upon seeing the damage in my area and on the news, I immediately called the owners at the Wilderness Inn and expressed my concerns about traveling from New York + their location being so close to the Pemigewasset River. They assured me they had no damage, but I reiterated my growing unease given more bad weather was predicted for the weekend I was staying (with the worst of it Friday and Sunday, the days that I would be traveling 5-6 hours or more by car). They insisted everything would be fine, even though there is no way to guarantee safety in such dangerous and unpredictable circumstances like flash flooding. As I was getting ready to start my drive to NH on the morning of Friday, 7/14, my navigation app alerted me of flash flooding along multiple routes. I called the owners and kindly asked if they would be willing to work with me and offer a refund (I even offered to pay a cancellation fee), or allow me the opportunity to reschedule my stay for another weekend since it was a life-threatening weather event and even local authorities were advising against all non-essential travel. Unfortunately, I was met with a cold and callous response. Instead of showing any empathy toward my predicament, they dismissed my concerns and summarily denied my request for a refund or rebooking. They failed to grasp the severity of the weather conditions and continued to insist that it was safe to travel (it was not). After our call, I formally notified them via email that I would not be traveling due to the storms and gave them one last opportunity to reconsider their cancellation policy. Sadly, they went ahead and charged my credit card for the full amount, but not before belaboring that there was "no emergency" in NH (there was). In a time when compassion and understanding should prevail, the owners of the Wilderness Inn showed clear negligence, an alarming lack of responsibility and professionalism, and a shameful disregard for the safety and well-being of their guests. It is frustrating to witness such an abysmal level of customer service. I sincerely hope the owners reconsider their business practices and realize that customer satisfaction and safety should always be the utmost priority, especially in extreme weather events.

Was looking forward to sitting in the jacuzzi in our "penthouse" the whole weekend. Well I decided, because of horror stories of Jacuzzis in hotels, that I was going to run a bottle of bleach with warm water through it when I got there. The jacuzzi was nasty the amount of dead skin and black mold that came out just from that was disgusting. The office sent housekeeping up to the room to clean the jacuzzi. And took half off our first night since we couldn't use it. We'll I decided to pull off the jets and look to see if they cleaned. Nope. I took a toothbrush and bleach and scrubbed every single jet. This is my vacation. I have worked my ass off this summer and paid alot of money to literally scrub a jacuzzi to use ONE time! Will NEVER go back and will NEVER recommend to anyone. If you're reading this and are in CH133B this week. The jacuzzi is nice and clean. You're welcome.

We camp 15-20 times a year (both tent and cabin) and love the outdoors, but that isn't at all what this is. So sad to have been deceived by their posts. I hope you can save yourself the disappointment. Update- Well over a year after my initial post, Boris, the business owner, finally responded. It is disappointing that after such a long delay, the choice was made to imply I simply didn't "thoroughly review" their photos. Claiming "transparency" while marketing every single cabin with a water view--when in reality, my $1,044 stay consisted of a small cabin on wheels sandwiched between parked cars with zero privacy--is the definition of misleading. Labeling a cramped, overcrowded layout as "community-focused" doesn't change the fact that the actual experience does not align with the curated, secluded aesthetic advertised. My issue isn't a misunderstanding of "glamping"; it's a rejection of being overcharged for a misrepresented experience. Instead of discrediting guests who have spent significant money at your business, I hope you use this feedback to provide more honest marketing. I'll continue to support reputable spots that value transparency over defensive excuses.

We've typically enjoyed ourselves but it seems like over the last couple of years we've been running into some issues. While I usually try to give the benefit of the doubt, some of the issues we faced this year were more difficult to overlook. I will start by saying that the resort has a lot to offer. It's a large property with multiple buildings. They've got entire suites for groups that include full kitchens and jetted tubs. There is a heated outdoor pool with a hot tub, an indoor pool with two hot tubs and a sauna. There's a small game room, an onsite restaurant, sporting facilities and play areas for kids and families. They've got a lot going for them. Unfortunately, despite all of this it seems like several areas have been lacking recently, including both services/amenities and general maintenance/upkeep of the place. Upon arriving and settling in for this most recent stay we noticed that much of the glassware in our kitchen was dirty. You could literally see the dried up stains where other people had put their mouths. Needless to say we were pretty grossed out by that. For the better part of our stay we were finding live yellow jackets/wasps in our room, which I've been petrified of ever since being stung for the first time a few years ago. During our weeklong stay we ended up finding and having to kill probably around eight of them at the very least. Come to find out there was a very small nest wedged between the sliding patio door and the screen door, but we didn't realize it was there until it was too late. We had to call the office twice about it. After the second call we did notice maintenance come near our patio and spray something over the window, but nobody came to directly talk to us when we were told that they would. Not sure if there was another hive close by that we weren't aware of, but after this we were still finding live bees in our room so we took matters into our own hands and ended up having to go buy some Raid. For the last two stays there were issues with both of the pools. Last year both the outdoor and indoor pools were shut down for at least a few days. They did seem to rush getting the inside pool operating, but I think that was mostly because the outside pool might've been closed the majority of that week if not for the entire week. This year on the other hand, the indoor pool was closed for the entire week we were there. The outdoor pool was open but the heater for it was down until our last full day, and the weather in mid September can be a little chilly for outdoor swimming, especially without heat. Additionally, the heat in the outdoor hot tub also stopped working this time around. I heard later that my mother-in-law mentioned some of these issues to the main office when checking out. On a positive note they did say that they want to offer a few free nights for next time, which was very generous of them. Despite some of the issues we had it looks as if they're doing some updating and trying to make changes around the resort, so I'm trying my best to cut them a little bit of slack here. We still tried our best to make the most of our vacation this year, so I can only hope for the best next year.

Even one sleep in the sumptuous annex was an absolutely treat! First, our hostess, Frederique, was simply lovely from start to finish. She was literally the only other human being that we interacted with during our stay. Sadly, they had just suffered a tragedy in the family and she had to jet off for France the following day. Even so, she was gracious, gave us brilliant recommendations for dinner in Conway, showed us on a tour around the grounds (including the always-on outdoor hot tub), and prepared a satisfying continental (in the European sense) breakfast the following morning. And about the lodge itself... what a significant affair! Our suite had an in-room jacuzzi (which we failed to use due to exhaustion from a day out on the slopes), a separate standing shower, a magnificent queen bed, and an antechamber with a television and microwave. We probably could have moved in and been quite comfortable for weeks in the space. And aside from the morning repast, energizing us for more boarding (and bruising), my absolute favorite part of this inn was getting to take advantage of the real wood-burning fireplace in the main building. I'd -just- read a Lifehacker article about using cardboard egg crates as a clever way to start a fire, and lo and behold, how was the fire prepped but with a dexterously rolled newspaper acting as the fuse to a cardboard egg carton under a quadrangle of expertly laid logs! I'm not sure how many hours we sat just staring into the flickering flames, teetering away on our rocking chairs, but they were some glorious times, I assure you. If you're hitting Cranmore's slopes and looking for a stupidly convenient place to get a night's rest, I wholeheartedly recommend dropping Frederique and her husband a note. I'm not sure what I'm more tempted by - the delightful stuffed croissant for breakfast, or another day of practicing swapping heel-edge and toe-edge!
