The orchard is at the cutest farm! Worth a detour to visit. Had the best donuts and the best cider I've ever tasted! Everyone there was so kind and helpful. Will be coming back!

I've been here once before, years ago, and remembered that this was THE place to go for breakfast or lunch. The food is delicious, and reasonably priced. The best part is that you can sit in the sun or shade (your choice) at a picnic table overlooking beautiful mountain vistas. I came back this time with my kids in tow, and hoped to kill a sunny afternoon here, without spending too much money. Many of the activities are FREE, including a playground, adventure trail, and viewing of farm animals and crop growing areas. The cow train offers $2 rides, though that attraction was temporarily closed today. We opted for blueberry picking instead. We picked a bunch, and it only cost us 83¢! Try the cider donuts. You won't be disappointed! My kids had a BLAST, and I spent less than $5 grand total. Also, bring a quarter if you'd like to feed the animals. There's a little gumball machine that dispenses treats. And hand sanitizer for after you pet them. Friendly staff, gorgeous views, excellent food, and lots of FREE activities for the little ones! What are you waiting for? Come on down and check it out! I have never had a Apple Cider Doughnut, and I've lived in N.H. since 1978. I searched Google Maps for Apple Orchards in Mt. Moosilauke area of N.H., and the Windy Ridge Orchard popped up. The wife and I wanted to take a drive up to see some foliage, and figured, why not go and get some Apple Cider Doughnuts. After reading many awesome reviews, we decided that this was the place for us. I'm glad that I read the reviews, as one reviewer said that only cash or checks are accepted ... so, I was going to bring some cash along for the trip. Of course, me being me, I forgot to bring cash. I figured that if I was 'nice' ... maybe they would give me a freebie sample! When we got there, a nice gentleman directed us to a parking space. It was crowded, but; plenty of room to park! We walked to the gift shop first, and there was a ATM! Ok, now I'm back in the game! There is a $2.00 charge to use it, but; I'd rather pay a small charge to get cash, than resorting to begging for a doughnut! We got there a little after 12:00, and I was hoping that we weren't too late to get doughnuts, after all, it is fall in N.H., and everyone was out, on a beautiful day, to see some foliage ... and it looked like everyone was here! I got in the doughnut line, and from my spot in line, could just make out a rack of doughnuts inside the small building ... I think I was gonna be ok. We paid $9.50 for a dozen of these beauties, very reasonable! The young lady asked if we wanted Sugar and Cinnamon toppings ... yes, we did ... and I would strongly advise you get it too! The doughnuts were put in a white, paper bag. We grabbed a couple of napkins, found a picnic table, and gave the bag a 'shake' to evenly distribute the Sugar and Cinnamon toppings. When the wife opened the bag, a slight breath of 'warmth' escaped ... the smell was unbelievable ... when I bit into that doughnut, I swear I heard a 'heavenly choir' singing ... the doughnut was warm, and as light as a cloud ... absolutely amazing! Ok, there were so many other things to do here, but; we only wanted the doughnuts ... we were not disappointed! I'm glad we got a dozen, as we shared with our family and neighbors when we got home. Will we go back ... that is a definite YES!

Great spot for lunch with lovely views. Loved the Cortland panini. Slices of apple with turkey and a maple mayo. Well organized procedure for social distancing Highly recommend for a stress-free meal with beautiful views of rolling hills. Blueberry picking and children's playground on site.

The BEST place around for getting a Christmas Tree. My family has been going for over twenty years and the entire experience is what keeps people coming from far and wide. To start, you get to ride a hay wagon to the field of trees. Super cute. They then provide you a saw to legit cut your own tree down. Just don't go chopping down someone else's tagged tree. (Yes they allow you to tag pre season.) Once cut, you return via wagon and just leave your tree there. They will tag it and give you a half of the tag so you can clearly identify your tree after you return from the Cider House. At the Cider house you get....you guessed it. Cider. Hot or chilled. To accompany they provide a freshly baked donut. It is amazing! You also can have hot cocoa and a candy cane if you wish. When you go to collect your tree, they will run it through the tree wrapper and even put it on your roof if you need the extra assistance. It truly is the best Christmas Tree cutting experience you will have anywhere. Recently I was able to come for the summer and experience the Cafe for the first time with family. What a unbelievable meal we had and what a beautiful view. We chose to sit outside and enjoy the mist lifting off of the apple trees beside the Cafe. We had gone for breakfast and I cannot say enough about the true quality and freshness of everything. I have to return for lunch and for the wine. I have yet to experience that. I am extremely excited to be able to visit this fall and pick my own apples and collect pumpkins. It's been over ten years that I have been around for fall and Windy Ridge to me will always be my favorite place to gather family. I couldn't be happier to see them expand and cannot wait to enjoy another season here as a returning local.

Windy Ridge Orchard, mountains, foliage... Maine in autumn!

Every year I drive the Kanc. And at the end of the 32-mile byway, I like to "do" something. Sometimes it's planned - Franconia Notch or Lost River, for example. Other times I stumble into events accidentally - like the Lincoln Fall Craft Festival or Oktoberfest at Loon Mountain. This year the weather was unbelievably beautiful and I knew that I wanted to go apple picking. So a quick search on the internet and Windy Ridge Orchard came up - it was only twenty miles from the end of the Kanc, so I decided to check it out. Now, Windy Ridge may confuse you at first - it did me, and I consider myself a fairly intelligent lass. I arrived and wasn't sure where to go to pick apples. I poked around for probably over twenty minutes until I went back into the gift shop I had checked out when I first arrived (but left because there was only one person working behind a cash register with a queue of about 10 people). The lady told me that she had the bags to go apple picking and that I had to pay BEFORE I went. I've been to dozens and dozens of apple orchards in my life and I've NEVER had to do this before. I don't know if this irks me or doesn't irk me, but you know what definitely does? That they don't take cards. Oh, and their ATM machine works only about half of the time (I'm speaking from personal, very frustrating experience here). So after another ten or so minutes working with the ATM machine, I grabbed some apple cider, and got back in line (behind another five people) to pay for my bag. When I paid she mentioned, "Also, most of our apples have already been picked through." Why, ma'am, would you WAIT to tell me this? She directed me to a patch of trees that "should" have still had "some". I walked out, around the goat pen (stopping to feed them crunchy leaves and nuzzle their noses), past the blueberry bushes to the right, and to the upper orchard on the hill (not the lower orchard). I have never seen such a clean orchard!: there were barely any apples on the ground. There were barely any apples on the trees either, but I managed to fill my peck and then some, eat a couple fresh ones, and climb many of the trees (please note: the last two you are NOT allowed to do here... but... well... this body was made for eating apples and climbing apple trees, so what can you do?). Anyway, here's what I learned from my experience at Windy Ridge: - The small wooden shack on the left when you're first walking up the driveway is where you get bags to pick apples ONLY on the weekends. - The first building all the way to the left is the winery. They DO take credit cards. - The middle building is the cafe. They do NOT take credit cards. It's also VERY small inside and forming a line can be difficult to do, but they've got a really great menu as all the sandwiches are based off varieties of apples. I hear they have great crisp and donuts, but I make pretty outstanding crisp and know where the best cider donuts are, so I passed. - The building all the way to the right is the gift shop/where you pay for apples. They do NOT take credit cards and their ATM machine hates you. Still, I would come back here if the mood to pick apples strikes me again post Kanc-drive. And if you're looking for some beautiful scenery, the drive out is absolutely stunning, too!

Windy Ridge has been named one of the best orchards in the state for a good reason. I love the apple cider doughnuts.
