I had and am still having a horrible experience with Alpine Flooring LLC. I have been in business for over 30 years, and this is the worst company I have ever encountered. They do not demonstrate the basic qualities of professionalism, integrity, and customer focus, which is a requirement of any successful business. In today's business environment, presenting a realistic schedule and most importantly sticking to it is of utmost importance to all parties involved. Alpine Flooring LLC presented what turned out to be unrealistic start and completion dates, just to land the contract, fully knowing they would not meet these dates. Thus, from the beginning, the entire process involved a great deal of unprofessional bullying, misinformation, and lack of response. Much to my distress, the entire project ended up being piecemealed, thus extending well beyond the expected completion date and still remains unfinished. Having experience with numerous flooring projects, I was extremely disappointed and quite surprised by the lack of clean up, as the new floors were dirty, dusty, and a great deal of debris was left behind. I deeply regret contracting Alpine Flooring LLC to install flooring in my home. Used Alpine in Somerville a bit ago for my floors based on their reviews. Estimate doubled from verbal estimate to actual cost of work. Communication across almost every aspect of the job was lacking and poor once product was sold. The contractor they hired did a good job, but not worth the aggravation of coordinating it with Alpine. Very difficult to get in touch with and engage with the company once contract is signed. Someone else posted on google, "The narrative isn't "what nice floors I have" but "what poor customer service I received from the owner himself" and "what a complete headache this turned out to be". This could be my review. Company not responsive to feedback despite responses to google reviews. Owner's poor communication lost the rest of the work needed. Please pay close attention to the negative reviews. I wish I did. I've worked with many contractors in my life and have never experienced as poor of communication or lack of concern for customer satisfaction. We had our floors done in April 2022. We found Sean to be very helpful and assuring regarding the our hardwood floor refinishing project. He was also very accommodating as our closing didn't happen as scheduled and we had to move our date for refinishing. Sean walked me through the process of choosing oil or water and we decided to go with oil because it's hardier and we didn't plan on moving in immediately, so there was time for the smell to dissipate. They did 4 coats in 4 days and we were amazed at how quick and perfect the process was. They were clean and detail oriented. Worst company of any sort anywhere. They put down a reclaimed lumber floor. It was supposed to be center cut hard pine. It wasn't. They denied it but it was even in the contract. Immediately after installing the wood started to fall apart. See the photos. They refused to replace or repair the damaged floor and wouldn't even answer my calls They told me it was impossible to fix. I found another floor company that fixed it very nicely. Did you ever meet someone and right away think WOW. This person is amazing and has the best energy? That is Sean, The owner of Alpine. I got quotes from 4 companies. Alpine was not the lowest quote but I knew in my heart this was the way to go for the best quality work. We ripped out carpet in 4 rooms and refinished florring in the entire house. Every step of the way Sean kept us up to date with the progress and gave us suggestions that ended up making our project not only an amazing success but above and beyond my expectations. We completely remodeled our stairs which none of the other companies could have handeled for the extensive amount of work. Alpine was the only company that was able to also supply the balusters (spindles) and had an installer that they trusted. Other companies I spoke to said I would have to outsource so that was a huge plus not to have to deal with different companies. I cannot even begin to express how happy I am with the results. From a custom wooden grate to the suggestions for upgraded posts in our stair remodel Sean went above and beyond with detail. I cannot recommend this company enough. We refinished our floors (using their dustless technique), replaced the tile in the kitchen with wood, and totally redid our stairs. We were very disappointed with our Alpine hardwood flooring installation. Initially it appears lovely, and then you notice many shortcomings. We requested matching borders to an existing border. The border Alpine installed is a different wood. They installed Peruvian Walnut (dark) when we had required American Walnut (medium mellow). This should have been easy, second nature for a professional flooring store. Alpine did not take the few minutes required to properly match the wood. The installation around our fireplace hearth is a disgrace -- it is not level and has dished out deformities. Apparently when Alpine removed the pre-existing wall-to-wall carpeting, there was an abnormality around the hearth. Previously it was not apparent due to dense carpeting and padding. Alpine had a responsibility to tell us about the defect so that we could have corrected it prior to installation. Instead Alpine installed hardwood over the irregular surface. Really! Does a mason lay bricks over rocks? Then when they sanded the unlevel floor, dips and waves were created. Of course, this was going to be the end result. It looks absolutely awful. You can see the waves and dips the moment you walk through our front door. A significant amount of the wood planks appear to be mis-milled (defective) or possibly the saw blade used was dull or the boards were cut in haste. The edges are not clean and sharp. Consequently a very significant number of joints are not straight or tight. They couldn't be. End to end you see an angular or irregular opening -- not a clean, crisp edge or fit. There are sanding abnormalities (dished out deformities) in various areas, especially around the borders. Not a pretty, professional picture. There are chips in many planks, nail holds, and knots. There is no doubt that we have a formal home. We were not looking for a rustic, rough look. The greatest disappointment was Alpine's lack of accountability and willingness to step up to the plate. They encouraged us use throw rugs and wanted to use paste as filler only where the floor is not covered by rugs or furniture. Alpine never addressed repairing the unlevel, wavy installation around our fireplace hearth. Our repairs require time, manpower, and materials. Obviously, Alpine was not willing to commit to anything like that. Alpine's proposed repairs were the equivalent of putting a band aide on a body damaged in a car accident. We have called in various professionals and are looking at costly repairs in addition to significant upheaval to correct all defects and abnormalities. Correcting the fireplace hearth surround is major. In our opinion, our job was an in-out, wham bam job. No time was taken to address any issues -- no time to correctly match borders, no time to address the issue around the fireplace hearth, no time to address faulty wood nor possible dull saw blades nor a sander breakdown. Our recommendations: Make sure your contract states in writing that "best industry practices" will be followed. Hire a "certified" installer if at all possible, although there are good installers who are not certified. Get "personal" recommendations and see other installs by your proposed contractor before hiring them. Buy your own wood or be sure that your supplier is a top-end supplier and that such supplier is named in your contract. Take photos from start to finish -- from the truck that delivers your wood to the finishing touches. Watch your installation like a hawk as much as feasible. You will need to vacate your home during the finishing process if not sooner, but return to look in from the outside. Hold off on your final payment until you are sure all is in good order. View your install under different lighting conditions at different times of the day. We could never recommend Alpine. We are very saddened and disappointed by our experience. We have surely learned a difficult lesson. read more

Customer service is the worst!! These guys are supposed to be the best. I called and emailed for a quote finally a week later i get call, finally schedule a time to meet. Get a quote in my email with in minutes though. Pick a start date and literally could not get hold of another person again. The crew was late, no call for repairs needed on my floors as promised and never a call back when i left a message or sent an email with questions or concerns. The actual workers did a fantastic job on my floors (i think they subbed it out cause the truck didnt say Alpine) but man those high and mighty salesman that sit in their fancy showroom S**K!!! read more

The initial sales process was fine. Any follow-up beyond that point was difficult. It was a struggle to reach resources via phone or text. In person meetings were not conducted on time or adhering to an agreed upon schedule. Responses were like pulling teeth as if the sale had been made and service was no longer the priority. Another interesting thought is how the owner of Alpine asked us to leave an online review even prior to the job being completed. To me, that is a red flag. It depicts a company lacking an online presence and trying to build or generate good will for their brand. Or, it speaks to a company who is trying to recover from some poor reviews and show researchers that positive experiences outweigh the negative. Our job entailed refinishing existing hardwood floors as well as installing and finishing new hardwood floors to an addition. The installers were skilled and did a very good job. The finishers were not as good. There was some stain on the walls and base moldings. Also, damage done to the toe kicks, base molding and to a side panel of a large cabinet in our brand new kitchen (caused by their equipment). Note, our home was empty so there was zero furniture to move. We were home during the sanding with the exception of a few hours. Within the few hours we were not home, Alpine damaged a kitchen side panel. When we photographed the damage and reached out we were met with a dismissive response and denial that Alpine damaged the side panel even though Alpine was only trades people with access to the house (which was empty at the time). Alpine - next time you encounter an issue with a customer, a simple "Sorry, not certain how that happened but we will take care of it" would have diffused this situation and left the customer feeling good that their best interests were being looked after. The attitude we received was that of deflection and lack of ownership of the issue. I would not recommend this company for the following: 1. We were called by the owner and accused of not paying the remaining portion of a bill for a completed job. We reminded Alpine that they hadn't completed the work and were only about 60% done. They mistakenly called but hardly apologized for the rude and accusatory tone 2. Late to meetings, zero follow up 3. The owner called to tell me as " one of our best customers, could you please write a good review on google and all social media about us, tonight if you could.". Sean (owner) asked me to write a positive review after his incorrect call about. balance and before the job was even complete. 4. Alpine damaged a brand new unfinished railing (split the wood during sanding) and claimed they did not do it. 5. Alpine damaged our new toe kicks and moldings and side panel. While Alpine agreed to have the moldings touched up by paint (which does not correct the damage from the sander, it only masks the damage) they denied damaging the side panel. Alpine eventually ended up replacing the side panel and toe kicks only, not the decorative base molding around the custom cabinets. This was a very difficult negotiation that continues to leave us with damaged moldings 6. They tied into our electrical panel to sand, which entailed removing the cover and tying directly into a circuit, Alpine did not put this back together upon completion. Alpine did not inform us of leaving the panel this way. Once we saw this we had to have our electricians come to the home and do so. Alpine was pushing back on what amounted to be the replacement of a $600 Panel. The narrative isn't "what nice floors I have" but "what poor customer service I received from the owner himself" and "what a complete headache this turned out to be". They seemed to be focused more on their profit margin for this job as opposed to doing the right thing. We just had old carpet lifted by Alpine to reveal our hardwood floors which were in need of refinishing. They showed up when they said they would at which time the craftsmen immediately began their work. We saw that one room had stains from years of having pets and the stains were so dark and deep they couldn't be properly refinished. After consulting with us they then sent another crew with wood that matched the other rooms and installed those boards so we had a virtually seamless transition. We couldn't be more satisfied with the quality of their work, their attention to detail, as well as leaving our home as clean as it was when they arrived. Stop! Turn around. Walk away. Look elsewhere for your flooring needs. Alpine Flooring is the worst company I have ever done business with. I hired them to refinish my hardwood floors. The guys that came to do it were awful! They did a terrible job - lots of holes from the carpet tacks remained, simple stains they didn't remove, etc. The owner guy pushed the matte finish on me, saying "no one uses glossy anymore", but I hated it and would have preferred glossy. I think he wanted to make more profit. Ok, my fault I know, but here's the real problem: the workers didn't clean up any of their mess when they were done. They had to tie into my electrical box for their power sander, and when they left, they didn't put my electrical box back together! They left it a mess! And the worst part was they disconnected my basement electric where I had a refrigerator, and all the food in it spoiled because I didn't realize it for a few days. All because they didn't bother to put it back together when they left. I had to get rid of the fridge as the smell of bad fish couldn't be removed. All because of these lazy, sloppy Alpine Flooring workers. Oh and they also had disassembled my smoke detector that kept going off from the dust, and they left it hanging apart when they left. I'd give Alpine Flooring 0 stars if I could. You suck. read more
