Have NEVER had a problem with anything we have bought from them, as a matter of fact, we have been so satisfied, that we purchased most of wood for outdoor projects from them. We calculate our own needs, but will consult with them to double check and if we end up short, well, we just buy more...... Not only has the wood held up extremely well, in our rather brutal weather, it ages nicely and we continue to receive big complements on the wood, and the work :-). Hansen's is also rather GREAT to work with, when very specific needs arise. I have purchased what I need for my for my outdoor pottery class firings, and can safely say NO ONE in town has what I get from them. Customer service is GREAT, and we are very thankful to have a business that has been operating in Santa Fe for as long as they have. It's a pleasure to do business with them. Go and see for yourselves, you won't be disappointed.

My husband contacted Hansen Lumber and talked to the owner's daughter, Alisha and she hung up on him. I called back and talked to the owner who was very rude and said that I would have to buy the rest of the lumber for $42.00 because of course, it couldn't be his mistake. I asked him to come out and measure my roof since he didn't believe me and he said it would cost $200.00. I told him that I was going to put a review on yelp about their utter lack of customer service and he said "one bad review won't hurt our business. I've been in business for 90 years." In this day and age no one should think that they can rest on their laurels. This is not about spending an extra $42.00 but about the incredible lack of customer service. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND GET YOUR LUMBER SOMEPLACE ELSE.

I'm in and out in less than 15 minutes. Even less time if I didn't stop to look at a few more things. The cashiers are efficient and quick. The big stores have no where near the service. In fact I spend most of my time in them just looking for someone to help me, only to find that person knows less than I do. Big Joe's may cost a little more but for their kind of service, I'm willing to pay a little more.

Most things tend to be in stock except for the gloves I wear are always out in XL, I think their inventory tells them they are in stock and the never see the empty spot on the shelf. Last year when I was attempting to get flooring the same issue arose, the computer suggested what I needed was already in stock, so when I ordered it, it took an extra month to transfer to the store after the delivery date. Pretty good as far as Lowe's are concerned though.

The owners were very helpful When the door opened into their shop, I asked to get a tour. I learned so much. They can mill timber as long as 45 feet. I mentioned opening the throat of my 1950s Atlas band saw to allow 12 inch resaws, and he took me to the modification of his Delta that's basically the same thing. It convinced me to go for it. If you need corbels that are truly traditional, they have every pattern you'd want, and the expertise to cut them for you. I've been working with wood for over 50 years, and they are the best you'll find.
