Alpha Rentals was the best place I lived while attending SIU. They are very considerate and nice and a great place to rent from.

DO NOT RENT FROM THE POINTE AT SIU…read more I strongly advise against renting an apartment from The Pointe at SIU. My experience with their management has been extremely disappointing and frustrating. In January 2025, my apartment building had a roof leak that management failed to inform me about. This leak led to mold growth in my closet, resulting in over $5,000 worth of property damage (see pictures and videos for reference). Despite my explicit instructions for management not to enter my room without my presence to avoid cross-contaminating my belongings, they entered without my consent and contaminated my items. Amanda Sopher (Property Manager) and Angie Jackson (Chief Operating Officer) initially agreed to compensate me for my damaged items. They instructed me to discard the mold-damaged property, promising reimbursement. However, they are now refusing to take responsibility and are offering far less than the value of my damaged belongings -- despite the City of Carbondale issuing a violation against them for the roof leak. Fortunately, I had my sister on the phone (with their consent) during my conversations with management because I suspected they might lie -- and they did. Management even tried blaming me for poor ventilation, despite the fact that I keep a fan running, my room is well-ventilated, and I use a dehumidifier specifically for winter. None of my roommates experienced mold issues, which further proves their excuse was baseless. The mold exposure caused me severe health issues, resulting in a hospital visit and an outstanding $10,901 medical bill. When I mentioned this to Angie Jackson, her response was dismissive and unprofessional -- "Aren't you a student? Don't you have insurance?" For the record, I'm not a student, and I don't have insurance. This isn't the only issue I've faced with their management. In July 2024, I informed them in writing that I'm highly allergic to cats. Despite this, they placed a roommate with a cat in my unit while I was away. Upon returning, I experienced a severe allergic reaction that landed me in the hospital (see proof attached). When I questioned Angie about why they would place a cat in my unit despite my known allergy, her shocking response was, "It's probably good because it would toughen up your immune system." This management is negligent, dishonest, and completely unprofessional. For your safety, health, and peace of mind, I strongly recommend taking your business elsewhere. Save yourself the stress and avoid renting from The Pointe at SIU. I can go on and on for days about this management team. They are all a bunch of LIARS. make sure to document every conversation with a follow up email and always take pictures of everything even when you move out because they will lie and it will be your word against theirs.

He was extremely quick to respond anytime we reached out with questions, and is very knowledgeable about everything! He helped us get the house we wanted and also walked us through the entire process on fixing up and selling our house. We ended up getting 14 offers on our house, it sold for 20% above asking, and closed 2 weeks after we sold it! I will recommend Dan to anyone in St. Louis looking to buy or sell a house. Not only that, but he's just a really nice person and a pleasure to work with. When it's time to move again, we already know who we're calling :).

But Dan lived in the neighborhood and offered to come by and help me with some new homeowner concerns I had. When I tried to compensate him for his time he politely refused. Fast forward to this year and we had to buy a house sight unseen from across the country. Dan was incredibly helpful in both the search and tying up loose ends so that when we arrived after a 5 day drive, we were set up for success. Little touches like programming new garage door openers and having handymen fix little issues. You will absolutely not regret using Dan for your next house search!

What a bittersweet moment that I'm leaving Cortona at Forest Park…read more I moved to STL in 2019 from California and struggled to find a place I can call home & the pandemic did not help. Thankfully I came across Cortona, it was like love at first site. Im not just talking just the apartment but the staff was just phenomenal all around. Each and everyone worker was super helpful, understanding, and went above and beyond every time. Maintainer is like magic, they are so damn fast! The apartment is insanely great. The pool is to die for and great for hosting friends & bbq. The neighbors were super kind, generous, and fun. Cortona has events every couple month to get the community together, like, cocktail hour, game night, holiday parties & even events for your doggo. I have a 110 pound shepherd & they welcomed him like their own. The place has a grooming area for the doggo that allows you the wash your dog and blow dry them, not to include the huge dog park. If I did not purchase a home I would have lived here until I did, I absolutely love this place and will miss it dearly. Thank you Cortona for this amazing experience!
