I feel horrible giving Alpha a 2 star review but here we go: Dr. Perel is absolutely amazing, I've been going here for 20 years. That being said, the girl at the appointment desk (I think she said her name is Tina) is an absolute monster and should not be working with patients. She constantly interrupted me, started yelling at me (at one point telling me to get a new doctor) and tried to talk to me as if I was a child. When I started talking she told me "no, I'm not done" and went on a rant, reminder that she interrupted me. If I didn't need medicine ASAP I would've hung up the phone, not like it would've helped much because I'd have to deal with her if I called back. When she finished her rant it was like a switch flipped, she started talking quietly and started calling me "hun" (which I did not like). I did not bother saying anything to her then since I was scared she'd cancel my appointment and would withhold my medicine again, but I will be talking to someone higher than her tomorrow when I have to go into the office. read more

Went in for my appointment the beginning of the month of July. I had this older doctor, Dr.Ludmila, a lady with a Russian accent, probably around 50-60 years old I had an appointment with. This doctor helped me with some neurological issues of mine, which in turn, helped me prescribed me with some medications. The medication that was prescribed, I had to take two in the morning and at night time. So I took the medication, made an appointment with her, told her that the medication is way too strong for me because it's 250mg each pills and I asked her very nicely if I can get the same type of medication but instead of two medicines twice a day, I asked her to prescribe me with a 300mg, which she did, which I just had to take one pill, twice a day. Dr.Ludmila looked and me, very sternly, and a condescending tone asking me "Why I keep asking questions and not listen to her?" She also asked in a very impolite manner "Why are you taking one pill and not two?" Also she said "You will take two medicines, twice a day like I told you!" In turn, I told her repeatedly that it was way too strong, but she ignored me when I said that. I haven't gone back to Dr.Ludmila since then. read more

I am sorry to say that I am extremely disappointed that the office staff at Alpha Neurology is entirely incompetent. I left a message with their service on Friday May 15th and requested a call back for Monday morning. No one called me on Monday. I called on Monday, and had to leave a voice message since no one answers phones in that office. I never received a call back Monday. I called again yesterday and left another voice message. I emailed them yesterday and no there was no reply to my email. Miranda in the front office just hung up the phone on me because I was irritated and very disappointed about their non-responsiveness. This is the reason why this office gets negative 10 stars. It doesn't matter how competent the doctors and technicians are, if the front office is incompetent . Instead of hanging up dear Miranda why didn't you get the office manager on the phone? Your solution was to hang up on me. That is not very neighborly of you dear Miranda, nor is it very professional. Shame on everyone in that front office including the Office Manager , James. Whom I will now be emailing , to voice my great displeasure in the operations of this office. I had to have my husband, physically visit the office just a little while ago , to bring all the forms, we needed filled out for my 89 year old mother who has been a patient their for 11 years.. I finally got a call from a lovely woman named Joan, who works at the front desk. She explained to me that she is only in the office on Tuesdays & Thursdays. If you call on any other day they have no other staff member who will answer phone calls, emails, or voice messages. Needless, to say if this is the case, The Manager, James should be transparent and forthcoming and provide full disclosure about staffing issues., instead of using trickery and deception to hide they either are unable , or unwilling ,to hire another administrative assistant for Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Whom does this strategy benefit, as to leading patients to believe they will receive a call back in a timely manner? The answer is No One. This is not how you should be treating long time patients or any patient for that matter. Yelp has a default where you have to pick at least 1 Star. From booking my appointment, to being seen on time and addressing all of my concerns, to making my follow up appointments - everyone in the office was kind, friendly, knowledgeable and made me feel so comfortable. First let me say that Dr. Perel is fantastic. That is about the only thing that is good about this office. I had to schedule an MRI. Twice they had to reschedule on me in 3 weeks due to machine issues which is fine. After the reschedule, they asked me to go to Regional Radiology. Ok no big deal. I called the office Wednesday and asked the woman working the front desk about getting a prescription for an MRI, I was transferred to the MRI department. Left a message for them advising of my need of a prescription. Needless to say, nobody returned my call and I was unable to get my MRI done. Called this morning and same thing. Left a message and awaiting response. Called back and asked for the office manager, once again no response. The office staff is at best uncaring of anyone's need. When I called this morning, I tried to explain my situation only to be interrupted and cold transferred. As much as I like the doctor himself, I am regretting my choice in going here as the office staff is rude, uncaring, and inept. read more

This office was amazing the first visit . The next 2 times I came it was a joke. Have fun even trying to get in touch with the front desk. The doctor is amazing. That's the only good thing about it . Other people are kinda nasty at the front desk . I was the only person in the office and they couldn't even take care of me . They make you wear a mask and half the employees don't even wear it . I am extremely disappointed with the care I've been receiving from this practice. Looking to make an appointment with Neurologist can be a little challenging. If you are lucky, you will find an appointment within three to six months. I was lucky to find an appointment with this practice two weeks from the time of my call, BUT, was I really lucky? On my first two visits, I was seen by Dr Perel. He was quick to end the visit and sent me to complete a series of testing ( all done at the office and his MRI suite), but shortly afterwards I have been seen by his nurse practitioners. I've had the worse treatment as far as a human and as far as a patient with his Nurse Practitioner, Emily. She has accused as non compliant to my treatment and not being able to do anything for me. I have followed my care and all the providers I have been referred to, have been treating me with no problem whatsoever. She talks over when speaking and will not perform an examination. She's plain rude and has no compassion for patient. My recent appointment was changed to a tele health appointment at the last minute. I received a call from the front desk to make me aware my appointment changed to a tele health appointment, and I was going to receive a call. This was a week ago! I've been calling the office, leaving messages for the office manager and to the nurse practitioners line and so far no one has returned my calls. I have been out of work for six months and this could jeopardize my returning to work and/ or my workers comp benefits. I am looking into changing my treatment with a doctor who is really cares about me and my care. read more

My girlfriend and I showed up to the first available appointment The facility was unkept, Needed paint and was in disarray. The furniture was from the 1980's and the paint on the walls/carpet made that fact much more evident. For such a respected office... it was very surprising how dingy it was in presentation. The staffing... was on par with the facility. There was not a single person in the office other than us. After some time the office began to fill up... patient after patient were seen before us. Our appointment was for 9am. At 10:15 we asked about the status of our visit... This is where inconvenience transitioned into discourtesy and disrespect. Kathy Brown (specifically) was exceptionally rude to both of us. We had mentioned how long we were there and her response was (and I quote) "this particular doctor is really slow... I've waited more than two hours for my appointment." She was dismissive, arrogant and downright rude. We did not appreciate her one bit. After walking into an office that (at a glance) was repulsive... to have someone so rude to us really turned us off. That being said... we decided to move forward with the testing prescribed by the doctor. When we came in for the balance test there was a pair of "goggles" used for the test. These goggles were in poor repair. They were scratched and the rubber around the eyes was falling apart and flaking away. They seemed unclean and not sterilized (to say the least). We requested for them to be cleaned and AGAIN met with rudeness as if we were inconveniencing the staff for a basic request. Cleanliness at medical offices is obviously the most important thing. These goggles should have a sleeve of some sort that goes over the piece touching the skin. Out of curiosity, I researched this matter and they were in fact a product in production and available through the most basic vendors of medical equipment. It just seems that overall this office is happy to continue their existing patients and not upgrade to the current situation of COVID procedures as well as customer service. I would rather fly to Brazil for medical attention than drive to new dorp to be talked down to by the staff To add to this abomination of a situation we had to follow up shortly after our appointment and had the unique experience of speaking to two of the least courteous customer service professionals I've ever experienced. Angelina the receptionist came off entitled, catty, combative and downright rude in every possible way. Once we had the pleasure of getting her off the phone... The experience extended Debbie just took it over the top by making us feel as if we were inconveniencing not only her exceptionally rude receptionist but the office and the doctor. She was very vocal about how unpleasant her job is. She spoke at length about the issues at that office and voiced her frustrations loudly. It made us both very uncomfortable. Debbie thank you but no thank you. I'm sorry you hate your job. Do us all a favor and go in unemployment like the rest of the uneducated, rude and abrasive people in our community. For you to "vent" to patients at the office about the trials and tribulations of your position is inappropriate, unprofessional and discourteous (among many other things). Once our business is done with this office we will never be back. We will make sure to encourage others to avoid this decrepit, dingy and negative atmosphere this office provides for its patients. read more

This office is a joke. Nobody ever answers the phone or returns your call. I gave 2 stars because Dr. Feldman is very nice and so is the medical staff I've encountered. But if there is an issue with Prescription or need an appointment, it's impossible to get through to anyone. They have the worst service here. I have called to make an appointment for my mother for over 3 months. They have an automatic service where you click 2 to make an appointment. It takes you directly to their answering service because of course no one picks up. We have left the name and call back number multiple times during the past 2-3 months and no one has ever called back. I would definitely change the doctor but they have all my records there. I made an appointment and had multiple MRIs done. Since then, I have not heard back from the office once. I have left multiple messages and it has been months since the tests were done. I had a great experience with Dr. Perel. He came highly recommended by another great doctor, Dr. Adolph Meyer, and lived up to all the high praise. A very pleasant staff greeted me...Dana, Angelina (nice sense of humor) and Donna, and Dr. Perel saw me almost immediately. His exam was very thorough and he made his own conclusions re the numbness in my left hand, and did not just echo the conclusions of a prior doctor and surgeon. He is also sending me for a further test in Manhattan, even sacrificing the $$ his staff could have made by doing it in-house. Nice and caring doctor. The office is a disorganized mess! Never calls back and you can never get a live person on the phone. I would fire the office manger, get a daytime answering service to mitigate calls so important calls get thru and thoes that can wait get answers in a timely manner. Every time you call into the Alpha Neurology Office in Staten Island at 27 New Dorp Lane the phone is NEVER picked up. You leave a message no response, you call the next day no response. A Pharmaceutical Company has been calling for 2 days to change a prescription order for a patient and CANNOT get through. When you go into the office they seem to be very well staffed. Welp Yelp....looks like this office hasn't provided amazing service since 2015. My first visit was 2/5/19...none of the staff seemed to know what was going on. I was referred for several tests and had to get the referral approved and scheduled myself. When I tried to reach the office repeatedly for a referral they had to control...I never received a call back for any of my messages. When I did finally get in touch with someone, she stated she would handle it herself...nothing. Finally made an appointment to see the doctor again for 3/25/19...I waited an hour and the doctor had the nerve to tell me I never got one of my tests done and I explained to her that her staff never returned my calls (for almost two months)...she told me that she didn't control that and that I needed to speak to the office manager. The doctor stated she was calling in a script for me...when I arrived at my pharmacy, they received no script. She also referred me for something else...but have no idea what it is...I can't read the script and the staff was all over the place (seemed frazzled). I tried calling the Dr's office while at the pharmacy...once again...no answer. The doctor seems okay...but he staff is completely incompetent. My understanding is that there is an office manager; however, if I oversaw this establishment...I would replace her and the staff. I say this, because I'm a manager and would never allow my staff to be this incapable to do their job. Part of this office deals with neurology...and patients are dealing with some extremely fragile diagnosis/treatments...the stress that this office causes people due to lack of awareness/communication baffles me. Doctor's of Alpha Neurology...replace your staff...starting with the office manager...your patients deserve better service than this. read more
