I've been coming here on and off over the last 3 years. I started coming back here 4 months ago and I normally do dip powder with tips. My nails ALWAYS break or my gel would always chip. And because of COVID alpha isn't doing dip at the moment. I started seeing Guy and he introduced the gel builder to me. Every since then I'm obsessed! My nails have never been healthier or longer in YEARS. The true test was when I went to Hawaii for a week. Came back home and it looked like I had just got my nails done. And I have a very active 1 year old! I also started going out of my comfort zone and started doing designs. See the pictures of my progression over the last 4 months. I wish I had a picture of how long my nails got before I went yesterday. (Obviously I'm a pink /bubble bath color fan) I actually can go more then 3 weeks without going to get my nails done, and I normally would go ever 2 weeks before. My go to nail salon. Their services are great, staff is very accomodating and friendly. Also I love how creative they can be with nail art. They have a wide range of colors that cater to many people. Also, what looks like a fully booked day for them may look like a slow day but that's because they time their services out nicely, so it never really looks like a madhouse where there's 4-5 people waiting in front of you. They will even turn down customers who walk in, when they're full for the day, and suggest to come back the next day or at a more later time, so this business knows their threshold of clients for the day. Which is nice cause you as a customer don't feel overwhelmed or rushed. Also really like how you can make an appointment via text on Google or on the phone. The only difficulty I have is that this place does get booked up. So I suggest booking your appointments a week or two before. All in all, great nail salon. read more

I had really high hopes for this nail salon as the reviews and photos looked great! I specifically went bc it seemed like they could do really cool designs. I showed them a pic of a neutral/pink ombré. From the start it seemed like he either didn't know how to do it or didn't want to do it. After applying the tips and cutting them to the length I asked for, he then told me he couldn't do ombré on nails that length. Mind you they were still pretty long and the length of the pic I had shown him. I then showed another design, a French manicure with pink tips. The lady pulled out the color and said it would take too many coats to show the color. So again that option was out..... He suggested doing a pinkish powder acrylic and clear coat on top and it would "look" like an ombré effect. It ended up looking like an unfinished new set. The fact that it was even suggest is insane. At the end of all this... he suggested doing one set color on all my nails. I went in for a cool design, something their page shows they're able to do, but they refused to do so or even be accommodating. My nails aren't even squared, he filed some of them so much they look more coffin than anything. VERY disappointed in the service I received. I had scheduled a pedicure as well but refused to give any more business to them after the way I was treated. Will not be returning. read more

I've been going to Alpha Nails for roughly over a year now, and I think I can leave a review about it now that I've had a good amount of visits. :) I've been on the search for a good nail salon for a very long time. A place that does nail art, along with making sure all your nails are painted correctly and shaped evenly; and I finally found it! I usually get my nails filed and shaped by Marie (she is gentle and amazing at taking care of your nails), and then An would design my nails to how I want it. A great tag team! I attempted to go to another nail salon in the beginning of this year (worst mistake), and ended up with thin, uneven nails that was filed into my skin because I couldn't make an appointment last minute with Alpha (book ahead of time, they get busy). Which in return, ruined my nails for a good 2 months before it grew out. Alpha basically tried their best to take care of my nails after that to make sure not to file too close to my skin. Anyway, just go to Alpha Nails, their prices are a little higher but I'm willing to pay more for quality I can trust. read more

I initially loved this salon and always came back because of how well they would clean up my nails before applying products and that they would always get my designs spot on. I have been a loyal customer for 3 years and sadly the quality just keeps declining. they still are great at cleaning up my nails and cuticles but as for design i'm just disappointed. With this last set I wanted matte nails with a chrome french tip as seen in the picture so that the shine was visible especially in sunlight because i will be going on a trip with this set. I asked the nail tech for chrome when he showed me the top coat before placing it under the UV light but he said it would be more work. I waited already an extra 30 minutes because he had someone else before me to only be so disappointed. I recommend this business to so many friends and family but i am now just offended by the lack of effort especially when i have put so much money into this business. read more

After two years of harsh winters and lots of long hikes on rough terrain in Montana (along with no pedicures), my feet were not looking their best to say the least. For the relatively affordable price of $45, Emma Le salvaged them by exfoliating, moisturizing, and shaving down the calluses. And she did all that without drawing blood or otherwise causing pain/discomfort. The salon was also very clean and relaxing. I really love this place! My friend and I have come here a couple of times to get pedicures. It's usually not too busy and they have a good selection of nail polishes. They also have different types of mani/pedis, depending on what kind of treatment you want. My nails always end up looking so good!! This might just be my new nail salon in the Millbrae/San Bruno area. This was my third or fourth visit and honestly I have never been disappointed. The service is great, the place is clean, and they have even taken me in a couple times after calling on short notice the day of for an appointment. The staff is very friendly and meticulous with my nails. My only complaint is parking can be a pain depending on what time of day you arrive for your appointment. A family member recommended this place. I have been going to the same nail salon for the las 8 years, but was not too happy with their service lately. I stopped by Alpha nails and ask if they took walk ins, they did but they were busy at the time. I really appreciated their honesty! unlike other places that say they have time for you, but make you wait forever just because they want to make more money. First of all, parking is horrible. They have two spots in the back dedicated for customers. Everything else is street parking. I had to park two blocks away. I called and made an appointment 5 days ahead of time for the time I wanted. When I arrived I sat waiting to be worked on for 25 minutes while the water my feet were in got cold. What good is an appointment? The paint job was horrible and my nails have started to chip after just three days, see pictures. The woman who worked on my toes did the most disgusting thing she could do by cleaning what was under my toe nail and wiping the tool onto my foot to get the gunk off. Isn't that what the towel is there for? $48 for a gel manicure and basic pedicure is way too much for the crappy job they did. I have no idea why their reviews are so high. I have cycled through countless nail salons around the Bay Area and I finally found my new go to! I stumbled upon this gem on Yelp as I was searching to get a full set done at a spot away from the city and I could not be more happier with the outcome. The shop is clean, quaint, and everyone was extremely inviting/kind. One of the ladies (I unfortunately wasn't able to catch her name) welcomed me in and started to remove my old set, as An was finishing up with another client. She was careful and made sure to ask whether it was causing any pressure/pain since my nails were very brittle from long term usage of acrylics, which I am very appreciative of since many places just go in and painfully tear up my nail beds while removing my old sets. An, the manager of the shop, is a very talented technician and was super attentive to details from start to end. I will definitely be back! It is also worth mentioning that this salon is apart of the San Mateo County's Healthy Nail Salon Program. Meaning they use less toxic products, safe practices, and better ventilation. Love this place! Just opened 2 months ago, make sure to try to call and make a reservation as they can get busy. Everything in the salon is clean (plastic bags used for the pedicure tub, yay!)and well kept, and they have awesome massage chairs. I got the quickie mani (shellac) & pedi, which is really reasonably priced at $48. My manicurist did an awesome job - really paid attention to detail and made it a very pleasant experience. I always feel so relaxed and well put together after leaving here.
