We can't recommend Aloha Maui Weddings enough! As soon as we spoke with Fay Hovey, we knew she was the right person to put together our getaway wedding in Maui. Fay of Aloha Maui Weddings is absolutely, utterly, and impossibly incredible. We first spoke on the phone when I believe she was in transit between one wedding officiation and the next... I remember because I believe she was driving, listening to our ideas, and (as a bona fide Type A, note taking person myself) I remember thinking, "There's no way she's going to remember all this". Lo and behold I was wrong! She remembered our details to a T! I'll start with the details about her, which I will list in bullet form because there are too many: - Well-versed in the industry: all her vendor recommendations were spot on. As true "maximizers" (see Barry Schwartz 'The Paradox of Choice'), we did our own research into each vendor on yelp, wedding blogs, websites, etc, and met with multiple flower people, multiple DJs, multiple everything. She was always right. - Discounts: we got a discount on our luau and she offered (though we didn't end up taking her up on) a discount on a large block of rooms. - Customer service/professionalism (so rare these days)! We always felt like were her most important clients even though she undoubtedly has dozens more, and that is something rare to find. - Accessible: it's great to feel important when we're talking, but also how about responsiveness for the mundane things? Absolutely. The one time we couldn't get a hold of her, she wrote us from Thailand just to let us know she'd be responding in a few days instead of hours. - Personality: she's just a really fun, funny lady! We're both doctors, and so kind of the opposite of a woman who organizes poetry writing groups, but you know it was kind of perfect! - Officiant: she herself officiates a ton of weddings, but we wanted one of our close friends. She helped our friend with some of the technicalities / nuances a layperson wouldn't know. - Patience: remember all those vendor meetings from above? She came to almost all of them while we were on the island. We visited probably 20 different venues. Yes, ridiculous. - Flexible: we are obviously a heavily involved couple, but I believe she'd also work well for a couple who'd want to just show up and have an awesome wedding. - Resourcefulness: so, so many ways! - We wanted a drone to deliver our rings. She helped us find the videography company. - Musicians: she recommended the wonderful musicians for our cellist and harp (fairly standard), but even knew an utterly incredible ukulele player (Derick Sebastian) who is generally way too fancy for a little old wedding (google him), but whom we were able to snag through Fay's knowing him for years. - We found a single random Facebook photo of these tall, dark trellises. She found the one vendor on the island who had them and a comparable trellis from another vendor. - We wanted to meet vendors / try food in person, but only had a few days that would span a weekend. She arranged a jam-packed schedule with over 20 appointments in a four-day span! - We wanted to transport everyone: she helped us arrange a map/timing and companies/shuttles both large and small. - Little things: she knew our table decor would involve white candles and a peacock feather. She happened to be at a Ross and saw some white candles with etched feathers on them and snatched up a bunch to add extra pop to our bridal table. - Apparently the day after our ceremony, she goes around with a metal detector to pick up the remnants from the sparkler send off. This woman is truly incredible, and I cannot imagine pulling off as unforgettable of a day as we had without her. read more

We got married on Maui on October 6, 2015. We arranged for Fay to organize the wedding approximately 6 months ago. We knew that we wanted to get married on the beach in Maui (just the 2 of us - very simple) and I google'd wedding organizers and found many, many listings. I contacted several of them but Fay got back to me first and was one of the only wedding organizers who actually wanted to speak with me on the phone as opposed to exchanging emails. She is very sweet and sincere and obviously experienced and has been doing this a long time. We had a really good feeling from our phone conversation and decided to book with her. (In addition, Fay's wedding services are a lot more reasonable than many other companies I found online). Fay made everything so easy for us all the way along, from picking the wedding bouquet, to the location, as well as offering several non denominational choices for the actual ceremony. She also gave us recommendations on where to have our wedding dinner and even offered to make reservations for us. When it came to the actual wedding, the day of the ceremony turned out to be very windy but we decided to go ahead with it anyways. Fay made a recommendation on which beach to have our ceremony at which was a change from our original decision. We are SO glad we went with her recommendation. We got married on Makena Surf beach which is lovely and quite a bit more protected (which was good that day due to the high winds). There was hardly anyone there and we had a really lovely ceremony. The photographer (Nicole) was so much fun and I think we got some really good shots. Fay is very customer service oriented despite the multiple customers she is dealing with at any given time; she obviously has a lot of weddings happening all the time but she always made us feel special and was very attentive. She is so enthusiastic and sincere and the ceremony was so wonderful: we absolutely loved it. Wow - where do I start with Aloha Maui Weddings? When you first talk to Fay, you will instantly love her! She CARES about her brides, is relaxed and well organized. What drew me to Aloha Maui Weddings was that, unlike other planners, Fay was available to answer my questions before I booked my wedding with her. Other planners were hard to reach, wanted a deposit right away and just seemed too busy to care. We only had 9 people total at our wedding, I think that other planners didn't want to mess with a small wedding like ours. All I could think was, if they aren't available before I give them money, will they disappear after I pay them? I'm not comfortable waiting 3 days for a simple answer about what colors of flowers I can choose. My gut told me that Fay was the right choice and, in the end, she was! Right before, during and after the wedding, when I started to freak, she was there to calm me and my family down. Planning and completing our wedding with Fay was the most stress-free experience of the entire time we were in Maui. Planning the wedding it's self was fun and easy. Fay made it enjoyable by breaking out each section of the wedding and the decision that needed to be made, such as "Flowers" and "Cake" and "Vows" - we simply went through and selected what we wanted for each category and it was done! Unlike other planners, it wasn't just one vendor for each need - we got choices! I loved getting a list of many photographers, hair dressers, musicians, etc, and telling Fay who we liked best. We were NOT stuck in a package deal where we only get who she decides we will use. My new husband and I have both been married once before and we will both tell you from personal experiences with planning a wedding before this one, that working with Fay is as easy as it's going to get. She dealt with all the vendors, all the problems and all the stress. My groom got to sit back and relax. I got to have a blast picking out a dress and at the end, we just had to show up and get married. How stress free was this wedding? Let me tell you: The day of my wedding, I was so relaxed knowing that Fay had it all under control, that my maid of honor and I, spend the morning and afternoon swimming, shopping and goofing around. We made it back to the hotel an hour before the wedding to get my hair done and meet my groom at the site. Our wedding was August 23, 2013, for just the two of us. We fell in total like with Fay the first time we spoke, and like quickly turned to love as Fay made herself available to answer questions even while on the mainland dealing with her mom's memorial planning, and even managed my few "bridezilla" moments with grace and aloha. Fay's recommended adjunct service providers were equally fabulous, including Regina for hair and make up, Dmitri (of Dmitri & Sandra Photography) for photography, and Charles Nahale for guitar. Fay advised us to be flexible in which beach we would finally select, and she was right! We ended up at Makena Cove near sunset with a nearly empty stretch of beach and black rocks. Needless to say, there wasn't a lot of time to plan a wedding...well it's a good thing Fay and Aloha Maui Weddings was there to make everything perfect. Fay arranged our beach permit, made our wedding license appointment, bouquet, provided us with fantastic options for which beach to get married and arranged our photographer and videographer. Whew...easy peasy! The only thing I found a little stressful was that Fay, at times, took a while to get back to me. She's in such high demand that she's always busy. That means she can't always get back to you right away via phone or email. Fay Hovey, you are a wedding-planning savior! We called Fay, and the first thing we told her was that we wanted NOTHING to do with the planning... to tell us where we need to be, and when. She only contacted us about important details. When it came to things like flowers, chairs, chuppas, she presented us with a few options and we chose from that. IT COULD NOT HAVE BEEN EASIER! We had our ceremony at the Molokini Overlook, and the reception down at Gannon's. The rain decided to pay us a visit. Luckily, it stayed away for the ceremony. Fay was great in making her "executive decision" to move the reception indoors -- so that our 70+ guests weren't stuck in the rain. It was beautiful. I'd -1 star for the Music Technician, but not docking the star since I hope Fay won't work with him anymore. Who doesn't know how to use an iPhone??? He played the wrong songs for ALL THREE dances -- father/daughter, mother/son, bride/groom. He corrected it when we screamed across the room for him to change it. I started to work with her while I was still living on the mainland and thought she was great, then once I got here she helped out so much more. My wife and I are from the bay area and did our destination there in Maui in July 2011; we were not able to visit beforehand so depended heavily on someone to coordinate all the details. Fay was perfect for the occasion- we communicated quite a bit on the phone and via email prior to our visit, she coordinated the vendors, had great recommendations on a number of things and generally made sure our special day was perfect. We were very particular about the type of ceremony we wanted and Fay fit it all in. We got married Nov 15, 2015. I found Fay on Yelp back in April 2015. We spoke on the phone for about an hour the first time and I knew she was the one I wanted to work with. I told her the type of wedding i wanted and the budget and the first option she gave me, I took it. It helped that I was able to look up the venue and location immediately while on the phone with her. She provided me the breakdown of the costs for the wedding from the trellis, the flowers, the musicians; so i wasn't suprised at any hidden costs. I had ordered my own silk flowers for my wedding path and chocolate bars for my wedding favors and had it shipped from amazon to her office. (I live in LA and did not want to pack the heavy boxes of chocolate!) Fay and I had originally arranged to meet to get my packages after i get my rented car. When i arrived in Maui it took over 2 hrs to get our rental car and Fay patiently waited for us at the nearby Costco. Talk about chill and Hawaiian time! Fay did a great job at helping us plan our wedding. We eloped within a few short months of getting engaged, and we hired Fay within two months of our elopement date. Fay was the wedding planner and also the officiant who married us, which was more efficient. Fay allowed us to plan as many or as little details as wanted. She gave an excellent recommendation on a hawaiian guitarist, recommended fabulous restaurants for our wedding meal, and communicated well with our photographer and limo driver. Fay scoped beaches the morning of the wedding due to inclement weather, and had a backup location planned in case it rained. Fay had wedding packages available online, but allowed us to customize a package based on our specific requests. Fay communicated with us by phone and email various times during our planning, and multiple times after our arrival on the island. I actually forgot our wedding rings in the tote bag a few yards away (not a huge deal since we didn't have guests, but still embarrassing on my part). During the ceremony Fay asked me for the rings, I quickly explained that they were in the nearby tote bag. Fay discreetly retrieved our rings and went on with the ceremony as if it never even happened. I thought I had already written a review. Because of the way everything went so smoothly Fay makes me want to get married to my Hubby all over again. I loved everything. Prior to arriving we were late due to traffic and a few hiccups prior I had no control over. I believe whatever will be will be so in the end I was married to my wonderful husband, with the support of our parents by our side, our wonderful officiant Fay, we had the best cake, photographer, and location. I was highly satisfied the entire ceremony. This year, we will be returning to Maui again to just relax, take in the sights and sounds of others getting married in the same place where we did exactly one year ago. We will adore the shores and cake we truly enjoyed on our wedding day November 20th, 2013 and celebrate by eating it where we did last year. Fay you were truly a God Send Angel. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. We wanted a stress free wedding on the beach and got exactly that...Fay was extremely helpful down to every detail, including saving us a parking space right at the wedding location and making dinner reservations nearby.
