Sandra is everything you could want in a wedding planner!!! She has great ideas, she is patient, and she has such a nice and calming presence that puts you right at ease. We visited with many Maui-based Wedding planners and Sandra shined so bright, she was the obvious choice for us! Early in our planning, we had our chosen venue double their prices that was more than we could afford. Sandra helped us find an equally beautiful venue that fell within our price range! Planning a destination wedding can be really difficult but Sandra happily accommodated us with countless 1:1 phone calls where we could plan out every detail! We also had an opportunity to visit Maui for on a wedding planning trip! During our visit, Sandra made sure we could meet with all of our vendors face to face. We knew she was connected with the best of vendors but after that trip, we were so confined in all of our selections and it was abundantly clear how respected Sandra was on the island! On our wedding day, Sandra's team created such a beautiful space! Every detail of the wedding went seamlessly and according to plan! I would highly recommend going with another planner from the very beginning! We had to disengage Sandra 4 months into the planning process. We loss our deposit, almost lost our venue, had to find another planner who can pick up her slack/make up the lost time and not to mention deal with additional unnecessary stress. It was a difficult decision to make but I am glad we decided to cut our losses and go with another planner. A wedding planner is supposed to help with the planning, alleviate stress from the groom and bride to be and provide professional input as needed. Planning a wedding remotely requires even more trust, communications and reliance on the planner. Sandra was not able to provide the above. Sandra is very poor with communications and lack the sense of urgency when replying to our inquiries. When she does respond, either her reply was unhelpful or did not address our questions. I had to follow up with her to respond to my inquiries most of the time. We had a year to plan and 3 months into the process, we had nothing except the venue. When I expressed my concerns, I was told "everything is going to be okay." It was hard for me to believe things will be okay since I felt like I had to be her assistant with the constant reminders to address our concerns and issues. If the planner consistently drops the ball during planning, how can we trust her to run the show the day of? Good professional relationships with vendors are important and I do not think Sandra possess them. We got married at the Olowalu Plantation House in the late afternoon. We were told we needed to spend an additional $1,000 to book the venue for the morning so her team can set up. Oddly enough, our new planners did not need that because their team is efficient and well thought out plans were properly executed. As an added bonus, they were able to work with the venue to make sure we did not lose the location when we disengage Sandra. A good planner can help you save money and/or making the best out of the budget. I found keeping Sandra as our planner would have been more costly in the long run. I was very disppointed at A Maui Wedding Day. Sandra made a good first impression when I flew to Maui to meet her. Do NOT go hire Sandra Wagner. Having a wedding during a pandemic was already hard enough and she was no help at all. I totally understand that it's a hard time for anything during a pandemic, she was overall a nice person, but she is DEFINITELY NOT FIT FOR A WEDDING COORDINATOR. I had 8 people seated at my wedding and VERY minimal decorations that were personally made by me. My decoration was very simple and not much, but when I explained to her my decor it seemed like she wasn't taking notes, but when the day came and as I was walking down the aisle, it was NOT pleased. Luckily my aunties went up there before everyone and realized things weren't put in the right place AND she had my aunty HELP her decorate when SHE was supposed to do all the decorating herself. Being that it was such a small wedding, there were such minimal things and she STILL messed up. Obviously she wasn't taking notes because what I told her did not happen. Being that I paid her over a thousand dollars to coordinate and plan my big day, I expected perfection, but what I got was an unorganized, unprofessional, poor communication, lack of urgency, disappointing experience. My aunties did way more work than her during the planning process and even on my wedding day. - Any wedding coordinator plans a day before rehearsal, but she didn't bother to communicate about anything and she basically was clueless on the wedding day. -She told my aunty the day of that we couldn't use our speaker because it would be "too loud." We ended up using it because there was nothing else we had as an alternative for music and she didn't even bother to manage the music, my aunty had to manage the music. She didn't mention anything prior to my wedding day about not being able to use a speaker, if she communicated that with me, I would have hired a musician for the ceremony. -I had a TON of flowers and most of the flowers were specifically supposed to be placed, but she placed the flowers in RANDOM places and it was so unorganized. I had specific flowers for the chairs, the floor, and some extra flowers, but she placed them so carelessly. -Our Entourage had NO IDEA what to do, where to go, when to go, they knew nothing because the coordinator wasn't communicating to them at all. On top of that, she took a haku lei (flower crown) that was made for my flower girl from my aunty telling them that she'd put it on my flower girl, but my flower girl didn't even have it on until AFTER the ceremony. -During the whole ceremony she was so far from us that you wouldn't even think she was the coordinator. I understand that with CDC guidelines you should be social distancing, but she was beyond 6 feet away from us. She was definitely NOT doing her job. -When we were taking family photos, she was carelessly cleaning up our backdrop and totally in our shots. Mind you that we had the gazebo till 3pm and it was no where near 3pm when she started cleaning up. Even when we told her to get out of the shot she left a step ladder there and it was in our shot. She told my videographer that we only had till 3pm on the farm which was false, we had HER till 3pm and we could shoot around the farm till it closed without being charged by her or the farm. Our wedding ended up still being beautiful and I was very content because of the love and support from my family and friends, but I definitely would not recommend going through with Sandra. UPDATE: replying to Sandra You were told when we met at lavender farm that there was going to be communion, you don't even need to be religious to know what communion is. We told you about the unity ceremony, which was paint pouring. We told you that's why we needed 2 easels, 1,for our sign & 1 for our unity ceremony. And that issue was solved with a sheet under our easel. You were told about the draping when you picked the easel up from us at Kula park. We specifically told you that we were going up to lavender farm after our meet up to go test the draping. We solved the "silk flower" issue when you told us when we met at Kula park so we agreed to get real rose petals. I even contacted you about getting rose petals for us but you were unable to so we got some the morning of the wedding. Even though you were not aware to coordinate music, a good coordinator would hop on it once they see a problem on wedding day. It's literally your job to COORDINATE. 35 people did NOT show up. I have pictures AND video footage of everyone social distancing during the ceremony, there is no need for masks if everyone is social distancing when you're outdoors We took one group photo & other than that, social distancing was advised. As stated in other reviews you are a terrible note taker & obviously didn't take any notes during our meet up at lavender farm or Kula park which we specifically stated how we wanted the decor, what you needed to do, and everything in between. Do not hire Sandra Wagner of A Maui Wedding Day. Sandra has absolutely no organizational skills, a poor memory, and simply fails to communicate 90% of the time. It appeared that she did not take any notes at all in preparation for our wedding. Many issues were discussed multiple times because she did not remember and did not have notes. She repeatedly forgot or got wrong my bride's name, even just two weeks before the wedding. She even got it wrong on the last invoice. She got my last name wrong on the wedding certificate (not just a typo). She never had a plan or checklist of items that needed to get done. We asked repeatedly. She recommended vendors, but failed to coordinate with them. We researched and arranged our officiant on our own. When we later told her the officiant's name she suddenly claimed that she had already just contacted them that day, and that we now had to arrange that officiant through her! She is the worst communicator: We tried to schedule calls with her. Not ONCE did she call us when she promised she would. We always had to call her later. When asked why she did not call, she did not remember that she said she'd call, or she had an excuse. Sometimes she'd just say "riiiiiiiiiight". Emails with questions were rarely answered, and she often said she did not remember ever getting them. She fails to answer direct questions, often just replying, "riiiiiiiiight". It was like pulling teeth to get a straight answer from her. When we did get an answer from her, she did not remember the answer she gave when we next talked with her. She made repeated errors in invoicing, adding things we explicitly asked to be omitted, adding things different from what was asked for, adding things that were never discussed, forgetting things that were asked for, and even getting the number of people in the wedding party wildly wrong. About 3 months before the wedding we realized that Sandra would not or was incapable of properly executing the wedding planning. At that point Sandra was already connected to all of our vendors, so we felt that we could not just fire her without placing our entire wedding at risk. We did not know what kind of damage she could cause. So we largely played along, but really coordinated everything ourselves. My bride began to take over the planning, coordinating the vendors and ensuring everything was prepared for the wedding. The only coordination that occurred on the wedding day was due to the great vendors we had and my brides efforts. We did try to get Sandra's help from time to time during those last 3 months, but each time the ball was dropped. For example, a few weeks before the wedding, Sandra said she wold coordinate the schedule with the photographers. We decided to let her try this. After repeated calls and emails to Sandra over the next week, Sandra again failed to call or contact us when she said said she would or finalize details with the photographer. We finally had to coordinate the schedule directly with the photographers. On the wedding day: --- Sandra showed up 45 minutes late to let the caterer into the Cliff House. Then she did not have the code for entry. She never called the Cliff House staff to get the code the day before. There was a mad scramble to get the code. All of this delayed the caterer's set up by an hour. Because of this my bride was not to be able to join guests for the LATE pre-reception we had. Sandra never acknowledged or apologized for this.. --- Sandra failed to get bouquet to spa for pictures. Instead, the Kapalua Spa staff helped improvise something with leaves and flowers for the pictures. --- Sandra left guests standing in hot sun because she asked everyone down to the beach too early and poorly coordinated with spa and bride arrival --- Sandra did not put the special cake topper we brought on cake, although we explicitly instructed her to do this. We had get the caterer to do it at the last minute. Sandra got a few things right: the beach towels for our guests, the beach permit, the beach equipment rental set up, and a few other minor coordination tasks. But these small items were completely overshadowed by the other problems with her service. If you read the other horrid reviews about Sandra Wagner, believe them. We were flabbergasted how similar our experience was. Sandra was not just useless, but actually caused many problems, headaches and worries. She rarely did anything remotely helpful. Our daughter was just married at the Olowalu Plantation House on 5/11/13. It was absolutely beautiful. There was no way we could have pulled this off without the help of Sandra Wagner. Our first visit with Sandra began in November 2011. We loved her calm demeanor and knew immediately that we made the right decision to work with her. She took us to 5 different venues and never made us feel like we were taking up too much of her time. I grew up on Maui, but currently live in California. Even though my family insisted that they could help coordinate this event, we knew we would need expert help. Sandra recommended venues, caterers, florists, photographers and even details that included a Hawaiian Musician (Wilmont K) and the ever popular- shave ice truck . It had been raining the entire day in Napili where we stayed so we were concerned about the weather at Olowalu. Sandra had everything taken care of, without worrying us with details. We held an intimate wedding at Haiku Mill last month that was as memorable as it was magical. And we couldn't have done it without Sandra from A Maui Wedding Day (AMWD)! Being a destination wedding, we obviously had some reservations about how the overall ambiance, decor, floral, and music would mesh together on the day-of. Sandra's experience and vision as a coordinator shone through for coordinating at Haiku Mill for the first time. She worked with us through an unforeseen venue change early on, and fought very hard for us to keep our vendor costs within the target budget. Sandra also suggested using Pinterest as a way to actively collect and share our thoughts with her during the planning process. We were thrilled to see our concepts brought to life on the day-of, which is a testament to her expertise and sense of style. We found that Sandra was extremely responsive to our communicated needs throughout the coordinating process, right up to the day-of where she and her assistant Monica went above and beyond to make sure we had a wonderful wedding. Smaller details like where to place the wedding favors and when to set off the sparklers gave a uniquely personal touch to our wedding. That kind of thoughtfulness is what Sandra is all about, and it turned out really great for the photos too! Sandra was an incredibly ordinary coordinator. She is very poor with written communication (rarely replies and when she does, it's usually totally unhelpful). Most of the time she doesn't know what's going on with your wedding. She even turned up to the rehearsal without the planning spreadsheet that I had sent her, literally, 5 times (she only had an outdated email she'd been cc'd on about a month earlier). We just got Married last week!!! In searching for a wedding planner, in a short amount of time... I emailed and researched a bunch of places. What drew me to Sandra was the responsive phone call following up with my email inquiry. All the other places just wanted me to submit payments online. We were able to come up with a plan that fit my budget. Price wise Sandra is very reasonable. The vendors - Photographer- AMAZING Hair and Make-up- AMAZING Officiate - AMAZING We had a very intimate wedding. 8 people total. My mom booked the Dinner at the restaurant. We forgot to order the cake. Called cake places and nothing was available that day. So in a panic we called Sandra. She delivered a cake to the restaurant. Wasn't able to get what we wanted so she didn't charge us. Sooo sweet and at least there was a cake! A couple days before the wedding she took my dress and Grooms pants and shirt to get pressed and steamed out. Dropped it off at my hotel before the wedding. Small things help and makes a difference! Sandra was fantastic. We had some issues with our trip getting to Hawaii so it was very awesome that once we got there, she took care of everything and we didn't have to worry about the wedding. We just wanted a beach wedding with our toes in the sand, and only had a couple details that were very important to us. When we first met Sandra, she was very organized and picked a beautiful location for us. Too bad mother nature didn't listen and it was extremely windy on our wedding day. She called us in the morning and suggested another beach that was very close, we thought just as beautiful, and much more protected for the wind. When we showed up everything was set up, including the details we asked for. We are very thankful for choosing her to do the wedding. Everything else she chose was great as well. My now wife loved her flowers, the musician was great, and the officiant made us feel very comfortable and did a wonderful job. My wife also commented several times on the lady Sandra had come to do her hair and how happy she was with that. As I said before, from the start we felt comfortable with Sandra as soon as we met her. It's difficult planning a wedding in Maui from california but she was there for us every step of the way. We could not have done it without her. She made me feel relaxed about everything. We had awesome food, beautiful local flowers, a spectacular venue at the Kaanapali coffee farm estate and just an unforgettable day in general. She helped us keep the cost down where it could go down. We were also thrilled to work with Bars R Us and 808 Street Grindz. The staff was sweet, helpful and local. Sandra met us a couple days before our wedding to pick up our dress and suit to have it pressed. She facilitated where and how we needed to get our wedding license. She helped us before, during and after the wedding. She is professional, honest and laid back. I would recommend Sandra to anyone. She has great ideas and will make your wedding day exactly how you envision it. Life can't be perfect but I think she made our day close to it. As a bride to be, I am currently hunting for a wedding planner in Maui as we are planning to elope in August of next year. We live in California and have been to Maui before and we love it :) I use Yelp a lot for helpful reviews: however, I am noticing that a lot of the Maui wedding planners have a pattern going on. Most reviews are great but then there are horrible ones too. For instance on this page, it looks like both the bride and grooms were copying a lot of the same stuff that happened on there wedding day?? Did you both jump on the same bandwagon?? How can all of you have the same issues when you all had different set ups etc? Like I said before we have visited Maui and the island in general is very laid back and codes and property managers can be stressful to deal with especially at the little condos in Napili, Kahana, Honokawai etc. We stayed at a quaint place in Kahana a few years back and as guests we were locked out of our room, it took a few hours to get a hold of the property management to let us in etc. Stuff happens and sometimes it is out of our control even on our wedding day! I guess as a consumer and a self employed business owner in California, I am feeling like these reviews are pretty harsh. I don't know Sandra or the bride and grooms but I will give everyone the benefit of the doubt. I never write Yelp reviews but for Sandra and her team I'll make an exception =) Being a California native I knew we would need a local expert to help us plan our September 2015 destination wedding in Maui. After a lot of research we stumbled upon A Maui Wedding Day. The thought of working with a wedding planner in another state primarily via email to plan the most important day of your life can be a little nerve racking but Sandra was very calm and easy to work with. From her recommendations we were able to secure amazing vendors- Bars R Us, Cafe O'Lei, and Maui Maka Photography. She worked with us to make sure we had everything we wanted for our special day including fresh, made to order malasadas and the best shave ice on the island from Ululani's. She also met with us when we arrived to Maui to pick up all the print elements of the wedding designed and made by my husband, our pictures for display, and our special cake topper of our dog Enzo who couldn't make it to the wedding. She thoughtfully listened to how we visioned everything to by laid out and made sure it was to our liking at the ceremony and reception. With Sandra and her assistant's help my husband and I along with all our guests were able to have a beautiful, stress free, FUN, and memorable wedding. It really was THE best day ever! I got married on October 1st 2015 in maui . Sandra was our wedding planner and everything was amazing. We are from San Francisco and it was a little scary planning such an important event so far away. Sandra has a several wonderful venues to suggest and plenty of great ideas for food and decor. She was happy to pick up my suit and my wife's dress and get them pressed for us along with doing the rehearsal on the lawn of our vacation property to make things easier on us and our newly arrived family members. She was understanding of our budget and worked to make everything as close to how we dreamed as possible. She was happy to make using our own dj easy enough and minus one faulty sound wire from the sound rental company everything provided was up to my standards. Sandra Wagner a Maui gem. Without hesitation, I recommend Sandra Wagner for your event, our wedding planner for over a year, and the day of our wedding April 30th, 2013. We planned the wedding over email and phone, as we live in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. As you may guess, it is quite the ambitious thing to plan a destination wedding, and trust someone you never met far away with your money a few weeks before the wedding. But we were truly blessed to find Sandra. Our event was held at the Hale Ko'Olani in Lahaina, Maui, with 36 out-of-town guests. The decision to hold our even at a private estate instead of a hotel, was the best decision. The property allowed for less restrictions, and it was well set up as a party venue. Sandra stuck to my details and budget requests/demands. She was detail oriented on the day of the wedding. Her assistant was most helpful. We were able to enjoy our day, and not worry about any details. Our guests were in awe of the event, compliments are still going around. The vendors we chose to use through Sandra included: * Aloha Events Catering. Amazing food, amazing service. The quality was better than I imagined. Professional, and organized. * We also had our flowers arranged through Sandra's florist. I provided preference, but trusted Sandra to talk to the florist herself. Fresh, beautiful arrangements throughout the property. * DJ, very organized, stuck to timeline of the event. A great speaker, made the party that much more. * PIA ALULI Reverent, another amazing speaker, singer. Made our ceremony special, interesting, and easy for the bride and groom to follow * Akina Aloha Tours-A guest shuttle provided to guests, two pick-up and drop-off locations. * Bakery, the cake was exactly as imagined, and the photo I have provided, and tasted even better. Every couple/bride wants their wedding to be perfect. I found myself to stay calm during the planning stages, as I knew that when I took the time to talk to Sandra about my special day, she must have been in the middle of an event that was happening right now and I respected the fact that when my day comes, things will come together. As I sat in my bridal suite during the wedding day, I got a glimpse of how hard Sandra and her team worked to make my day exactly as I pictured, and even beyond my dreams. I can't believe any of the bad reviews because Sandra was awesome. She was very attentive & always available for planning my wedding! I would recommend her over & over to anyone. Sandra is a great representative of Maui because of her aloha. She is very kind & positive. Her attention to detail & creativeness is immaculate. I wish she did weddings everywhere because she will go out of her way to find whatever you need for your special day. She made my day everything & more of what I have dreamed of since I was a child. My family & friends praised how beautiful & organized this wedding was. It was one of the best they had ever been to. She does a lot of weddings & was very dependable. I saw someone's review about being called the wrong name. It's understandable if you accidentally call someone the wrong name because she is dealing with all kinds of vendors & people. My wedding was so beautiful & that's all that matters! She has been in business many years & could not have done so w/what any of the bad reviews say. I was recommended by someone else & it was the best choice I ever made. Errors on invoices are computer errors so don't blame her. None of the issues that these negative peeps wrote about happened to me. I was very appreciative & in awe of everything she did. The wedding went perfectly without a hitch. I would recommend her to anyone who wanted to do a destination wedding in Maui. Btw, negative reviewers...the vendors are who she chose & she is the one that had the wedding go without a hitch & it wouldn't have without Sandra! I booked Sandra's services after seeing some photos and reviews online for her elopement package....as much as I hate to write this-I don't recommend. My husband and I are extremely low maintenance-but when it comes to your wedding day you need a little communication. Sandra is hard to get in contact with. We met up with her the day before our wedding and she told us that day that she wasn't going to be there tomorrow..."but my friend will be there, she looks kind of like me." So we went into our wedding day feeling extremely anxious that we didn't know the coordinator and who to look for-and figured we would be unable to get ahold of Sandra if we needed anything. As part of the package she arranged our officiant, who was wonderful-but she told him the wrong place to meet us, so he ended up being late once he finally found us. He was frustrated with the situation as well. I hope this review helps someone, she May be great with full wedding planning, I can't speak on that...but for an elopement save your money! read more

I found A Maui Wedding day planner on google. As I was looking for the perfect venue for my wedding. I spoke with ms. Wagner on the phone and flew to Maui for a consultation from CA. She was very helpful in offering different packages to suit my budget. I had a total of 45 guests in a beautiful Estate. The catering,decorations and photographer, I was very pleased with. Ms. Wagner was very attentive to my needs and was very detail oriented. My guests enjoyed themselves and was impressed with my choice in wedding planners. My best friend and my niece anxiously chose A Maui Wedding Day to plan their weddings coming up this year. Ms.Wagner defiantly displayed her "Aloha Spirit". A Maui Wedding Day was the perfect choice for our Maui wedding! Planning a wedding in Maui from Seattle was daunting to say the least, and even deciding upon the wedding planner/package was a daunting task! I spent hours looking at websites, comparing prices, and reading reviews before I finally decided on A Maui Wedding Day. From the moment I started working with Sandra Wagner, it was smooth sailing! I often commented to my friends how relaxed I felt in the planning process, relying mostly on Sandra, which is exactly what I wanted. She was also so helpful when we arrived on Maui. We had an issue with the house we were renting for our entire family, because the power was out when we arrived. Sandra met us late at night to provide candles. She also offered to help us find other accommodations, although we did end up getting our power back. She was very flexible in moving the time of our rehearsal, and she made herself available to us any time day or night. The spa appointment for hair/makeup for me and my girls was amazing, and this was also coordinated by Sandra. We all looked absolutely beautiful, and it was a relaxing and special way to start the wedding day. Having Sandra at the wedding as our on-site coordinator was awesome, and the officiate she provided, Pastor Laki, was just amazing and made the ceremony so fun and authentic. He worked very well with my brother, who actually performed most of the ceremony for us. We loved the guitarist she found for us, as well. He played all through the ceremony, which really added to the ambiance. I highly recommend using a Maui Wedding Day and Sandra Wagner if you are planning a wedding in Maui. Amazing!!!! Sandra and her team are absolutely the best at what they do! Our wedding was beautiful, magical and so much more than we could have ever imagined!! Throughout the process of planning our destination wedding, Sandra was very responsive to our numerous emails and requests, took every picture we sent her about decor/flower/presentation and brought our vision to life on the big day! We planned our wedding over a year and half with Sandra's help and appreciated that she slowly introduced us to different vendors throughout this time so we never felt rushed or stressed! She also took notes about our vision and our style and introduced us to some of the best vendors on Maui who were able to bring our ideas about flowers/photos/food/etc to life. On the week of the wedding, Sandra accompanied us to all our meetings with our vendors, took notes and made sure all last minute details were accounted for. On the day of the wedding, Sandra and her team worked so hard to direct all the vendors, set up decor (and incorporate all the little decor details that I had brought in) and made sure my bridal party & I were relaxing and enjoying getting ready in the bridal suite. They also had all of our decor and supplies perfectly wrapped up for us to pick up the next day to ship home. I attended the most beautiful wedding. The site was breath taking with the ocean in the background and the island of Lanai beyond. The catered food was wonderfully delicious and the catering staff couldn't have been more professional. The photographer was not only professional but also very considerate to all the guests. The most important element in all medium to large weddings in my book is to have a competent, organized and thorough wedding coordinator. I was a guest so I wasn't part of the planning stages that went into this event but from my observation on the day of the event there wasn't a detail missed. Sandra's demeanor couldn't have been more perfect for an event that can produce a great deal of stress and anxiety a nervous bride and an anxious groom. She brought calm to the event, one I have never seen in all the weddings I have attended. She took care of all the details, the little things that most people don't think about and did so in a relaxed but timely fashion. I know the wedding couple had a spectacular evening and we still talk about how perfect the wedding went. They shared with me how accommodating and creative Sandra was in the planning stages. They were concerned about how things would turn out because of all their last minute changes, but were extremely pleased with the end result.
