Aloha Kitchen almost always satisfies my craving for local style food. I love their garlic chicken, loco moco, saimin, mac salad, and spam musubi. The service is always good, the atmosphere is nice, the food comes out quickly, and it's always delicious. The only downside (which is a very minor one) is that garlic chicken is available only once a week, and that they don't have chicken long rice. Again, that's super minor. Seriously, eat here - but don't order all the garlic chicken or there will be none left for me! read more

Been here a couple of times for dinner. The Mahi Mahi tasted okay, but looked bland. Very bland. Like an ordinary piece of salmon. The Huli Huli chicken was the exact opposite. Looked like ordinary fried chicken pieces, but tasted amazing. The one thing that stays consistent is the quality of their fries. Not a mac salad fan, so I typically replace it. The fries are crinkle-cut, which is a dead giveaway to their origin. It always seems like they never cook their fries long enough. I'll have to ask for them to be cooked a little longer next time. The Hawaiian aesthetic is obvious, but thankfully not overdone. Tables are spaced out, so you don't have to brush against people to get to your table. Haven't had a problem with the service either. It's a nice place for a quiet dinner, but I haven't seen the stage in the corner of the restaurant in use yet. Maybe one day. read more

Our family eats here about once a month or so. We have enjoyed everything we have tried for the most part. Our biggest complaint is cost. We would probably eat there more often if it wasn't so expensive each time just for a family of four. The portions are generous though and we typically have leftovers. Everytime I order from here whether it's from uber eats or dine in, I have an internal debate. Do I get mochiko chicken, huli huli chicken, or a kalua pork quesadilla? The struggle is real! Warning: If you are a Hawaiian blooded Local do not order the Huli Huli Chicken (rubbery no flavor chicken)or Lomi Lomi salmon (way to salty to eat), or Lau Lau(sooo dry with a heavy liquid smoke flavor) It is not something your Aunties/TuTus or anyone would cook and give you, oh and when you call to inform them, be prepared to be laughed at.. but for a $20 lunch plate who wouldn't complain when almost all of it is not edible. The only reason why I gave a star at all was the customer service. The food is way over priced especially for the lumpia (very skinny size) and the poki appetizer was 11.45 for a small portion!! So insane!!! The food was so so...not the best Hawaiian I've had. It's decent. I probably won't be back there!!! read more

3.5 stars. Food is generally good, but quality can vary greatly. Rice can be buckshot, soggy, or anywhere in between. Saimin noodles are great, but dashi goes from super bland to ultra salty. Prices can be high for some things. Happy hour is great, and the poke tastes fresh. read more

Great service and tasty food (especially the mac salad) at a reasonable price. My daughter and I had the huli huli chicken, two scoops rice and one scoop mac salad with a side of fries. Honestly, it wasn't bad... it was just blah. To be fair, if my husband were writing this review he would probably give it 3 stars. But I will not go back here. The pulled pork sandwhich that got was just your average pulled pork, and it was served on the cheapest hamburger bun possible. Husband got some rice bowl with groundbeef, and although he liked it he admitted that it was average. The only reason this place even gets the second star is because the service was great and very friendly, and I suppose that counts for something. read more

I am absolutely lost for words... I am not sure if they are under new management or what. When aloha kitchen was in the old location it was SPOT ON. When they moved to Ross and reopened.... Complete disaster. For those of you who have had rice before, you should know it should not be that darn sticky. It's like eating mush. The rice they serve is absolutely disgusting. Their Mac salad is not consistent. I ordered a side order of Mac salad and the side tasted like it was made real quick and smothered in butter? Very happy this is here. Given that it's the only Hawaiian BBQ in the area, and given some of the iffy reviews here, I was a little hesitant, but then so very pleased when we were through. I had: Kalua pork sandwich, lomi salmon. She had: huli huli chicken plate lunch. All were: outstanding. To those complaining about portion sizes not being big enough, all I can say is, whoa, maybe put the fork down once in a while. My sandwich + mac salad was a reasonable sized meal, but the plate lunch (as all good plate lunches should be) was enough food for two people. You want more than that? Good gravy. The prices are higher here than at, say, an L&L, but like I said, it's the only game in town, and when you want delicious grilled meat, two scoops rice, one scoop mac, this is where you have to go. read more

I love the Ideal Protein menu options. The pork is my favorite. They make cabbage taste good!?!? They make a divine (approved) salad dressing and serve a ip free salad with the entrees. My family likes the spam that comes with some dishes. They always comment on how tender the meat dishes are. Rice is always perfect. We usually come here when we're craving Hawaiian food since it's the closest thing to reminding us of home. Our visit here this time was a little disappointing. We came in the afternoon before 3:00pm I would say. I decided to order the laulau since my fiancé said it was good the last time he had it. WRONG! Sadly, it was overcooked or should I say the meat in it tasted completely burnt so there wasn't much in that laulau I could really enjoy. Moved on to the mac salad that came with it and uhm, the noodles were over cooked and the mayo wasn't mixed in well. Total fail! Now let's move on to my fiancés order. He ordered a combo plate. Sadly there was no kalua pork & cabbage available. Why?! It's literally one main reason a lot of people go in for Hawaiian food. Instead he ordered hulihuli chicken, sweet & sour spare ribs and a side of laulau. Now, I'll try to be nice about this one. His chicken basically looked like bbq chicken. His laulau again was sadly burnt. The worst part of it is that they gave him an extra laulau because they didn't have kalua pork but even then he didn't eat it because the inside was burnt. Our server was sweet and made sure our drinks were topped off. I'm going to give this place the benefit of the doubt that things will be a lot better the next time around since we do enjoy this place. Who knows? I love this place! It's small and laid back. Fair portions and fair price. I feel comfortable bringing my baby here, it has a good family atmosphere. It's always clean and the staff provides quick & friendly service. Kalua Omelette & Kalua Nachos have the same shredded pork that is absolutely delicious. Mochiko Chicken is seasoned so well that it doesn't need a sauce but it comes with a pretty tasty one. Ahi Tuna Poke Bowl is fresh and beautiful. I can't wait to try more of the menu. read more

Decided to try the new place in town while my grandparents were visiting; big mistake. Im not a picky person, I'm happy as long as the foods good! Aloha kitchen had extremely poor service, very unorganized, and to top it off, there food was horrific! Hands down the most disgusting "Hawaiian food" I've ever eaten! It looked like they had dumped wet cat food on a plate and thru it in the microwave (it smelled that way too!) ... They're Way to expensive for the product they served. I ordered the Mochiko Chicken and paid extra to sub fried rice.It came with two scoops of fried rice and one scoop of macaroni salad. The service here was bad. It took 15 minutes for them to come by to take my order, and then 5 more minutes after that to even bring me water! Not a good start. Onto the food, the Chicken was fried in a potato? starch and was very dry and clearly overcooked. Macaroni salad was bland and tasted like it came straight from wal-mart. Fried rice wasn't bad, but definitely not worth the $4 upcharge. They had alot of carryout orders while I was there, so clearly someone out there likes the food here, but its just not for me. We gave one star for the good service. We ordered Huli Huli chicken that was recommended here on Yelp as well as the mango chicken special recommended by our waitress. The mango chicken was dry and chewy. The Huli Huli was very fatty and inedible. Unfortunately, it was a celebratory lunch date and complaining would've been very awkward. The order was of Kālua Nachos & a Mochiko Chicken Aloha Plate. The Kālua pig had just the right amount of smokey flavor. The Aloha Plate came with 2 scoop sticky rice & 1 scoop macaroni salad. Mmmmm ono (good). The chicken was sprinkled with rice flour, then deep fried. Gave the pieces of chicken a little crunch, not a lot of batter. There were small sides of dipping sauces. A mango pineapple, sriracha, soyu. If you can't get to Hawaii right now, that's ok. You can swing by Aloha Kitchen for a tasty experience. read more

I was very excited to try this place because I heard the Ideal Protein menu was excellent. I live one hour away so I had to wait a couple months before I could visit. I ordered the chicken and beef from the IP menu. It was delicious but for the $10-$13 price tag it didn't seem worth it. The meat sits on a bed of diced steamed cabbage. The side salad came with a very small amount of dressing which I heard was ahmazing! It was very good dressing but I was disappointed that I was already on the road when I realized I was given only 2 Tbs. The cabbage needed flavor real bad and I was torn between using the dressing for the salad or for the cabbage. I settled on not eating the salad. A large bottle of dressing was for sale for $18. I thought that was grossly overpriced so I didn't purchase it but I yearned for it. Also, another gripe I had was that I phone ordered my food 15 min before I arrived. The employee said it would take 15min, so I thought "perfect, it'll be ready when I get there!" Not true, I had to wait another 15min in the restaurant for my food. And this place had less than 6 customers and 3-4 staff when I arrived! In fact, a couple had received, eaten their food and left in the span of the time I was waiting there. We went for dinner with our children. We like to support local businesses, however, we will never go back to this one. It was a Friday night, so we expected it to be busy. The place was about a quarter full when we arrived at 5pm. Shortly after we arrived a party of about 20 arrived, followed by about 5more smaller parties. We had ordered an appetizer, thank goodness....the waiter did not return to take our order for about 15 minutes. After we received our appetizer we did not have anymore service...20 minutes after our drinks ran out, I finally went to the counter and asked to please get our drinks refilled. After 1 1/2 hours, the large party had almost finished, and everyone else in the restaurant including 2 Togo orders that walked in and ordered 30 minutes after we arrived had received their food we had had enough. We took our 2 hungry kids and left...without dinner... I believe it was the owner who seemed intoxicated was going around to tables...sitting with them, kissing on ladies...not concerned at all that the restaurant was completely a mess...and customers were pissed... FINALLY! Da Kine decent plate lunch comes to Kitsap County WA! I am a HUGE fan of good Teriyaki, but I've missed the traditional plate lunch you can only find on the Islands. My favorite used to be The Kim Chee II over in Kaimuki. Now I don't have to drive so far!...2 scoops rice, macaroni salad, and whatever main dish your Hawaiian heart desires! this place is mediocre at best. at first when we went there it was awesome, the food was decent and the poke was plentiful. one time i went there and got the sweet and sour ribs but it wasn't even ribs! it was pork chunks with pineapple with the pineapple being more plentiful than the meat! my mom had saimin and the soup was cold. i once had their breakfast and the Portuguese sausage was barely cooked and tasted weird and the eggs i ordered wasn't even scrambled. it was like they put the egg on the grill and half assed scrambled it. i don't eat macaroni salad but my family does and they don't like it. their spam musubi's aren't very good infact i've made better ones when i was 10 than this place. i haven't been back there in months so i don't know how it is now but my mom has said that they're doing worst. the prices went up and the quality/amount went down. but from the second time i went there i decided this was not a great place to eat. Spam musubi and I go waaay back.. I've had it at nearly every restaurant or joint that sells it.. so i know good from the bad.. and this was bad!! The rice was super dry, there was no sauce.. and the spam.. my beloved spam... had no taste to it whatsoever!! The lau lau was dry.. and the loco moco had no taste to it. Always craving local food and culture I was very pleased to find The Aloha Kitchen open for business and did not delay my first visit, which was not a disappointment. I ordered fresh ahi poke and teriaki sticks for appetizers. The poke was very fresh and seasoned lightly, not too heavy on the shoyu. I ordered kalbi ribs with kimchee, 2 scoops rice and mac salad...all every bit as good as my favorite HI plate lunch place on Salt Lake Bl near Pearl Harbor, Soons BBQ. My dining companion ordered a combo plate that included lau-lau, huli huli chicken, lomi lomi salmon, kalua pork a generous piece of mahi mahi, rice and mac salad; all were reported very good. The Staff are friendly and service is quick. I spent a little time talking story with one of the owners whom I assured will see me again as often as I visit Silverdale. They also have a shelf stocked with local products to take home including guava jelly, Aloha brand Shoyu, a variety of crack seed and some other local kau kau. Ono grinds! Edit - 2 subsequent visits. Both return visits for dinner at Aloha Kitchen gave me an opportunity to talk story with the owners. Turns out Lori is from the Big Island and has Ohana near the town where our retirement hale will soon be built on our property between Keaau and Pahoa. As before, the ahi poke was very fresh and tender, the Firerock beers from Kona Brewing Co were cold, and the dinners, lau lau one night and a revisit of the kalbi ribs plate lunch the next left me full of ono chow and Aloha. I lived in hawaii for about 5 years. This restaurant was refreshing to find. Ill start off by saying the staff were friendly and completely amazing. I asked for a hawaiian dish that was not served "fried rice omlette". They said they would ask the cook who said that she would make it for me. It was just as i remembered. Delicious. Today my boyfriend and I experienced less than satisfactory service at Aloha Kitchen, we come here often but this was our first time going after the move in location. We were seated promptly, and asked for our drink orders, we gave them and had begun giving our waiter our appetizer orders when he just walked away. We shrugged that off then ordered our appetizers (6 piece Lumpia, 2 Spam Musubis), along with our meal orders ( Kalua Pork and Cabbage, Breakfast Fried Rice) the next time he came around. Our appetizers came out at the same time that one of our meals came. After waiting until the very next time our waitress came out of the back (By that time all of the one meal we received had been eaten) to ask about the missing meal, our waiter swore as he was about to hand us our check. He did cover the cost of the forgotten meal however, if he had written down our order, this mishap could've been completely preventable. Now for the food. The Kalua pork and cabbage is so great, and the Mac salad that comes with is the best I've ever tasted! The spam Musubis were also wonderful. The Fried rice has yet to be eaten and The pork Lumpia however seemed like it was just seasoned carrots in a Lumpia wrapper. read more
