I was on the hunt for St. Louis' best pancake and articles and reviews led me to this spot - it…read moredidn't disappoint! Their pancakes were incredibly buttery and rich, with a fluffy interior and crispy exterior. To offset my (basically) dessert-for-breakfast, I also had the Kale & Grain Salad, which was great - a fresh salad with a variety of textures and flavors, everything tasting very fresh. The service was friendly and warm. The decor is really nice and you feel like you're in a special place...this is perfect for a two-person or a group meal. I'd definitely visit on my next trip here.

Bowood by Niche is, by far, one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had, if you can even…read morecall it that. Between the disappointing food, ridiculous pricing, and off-putting customer service, I genuinely cannot understand the hype surrounding this place. First, let's talk about this thing they call a pancake. I think you have to work pretty hard to ruin something as simple as a pancake, but somehow they managed to do exactly that. The flavor was practically nonexistent, and the texture reminded me more of a cake baked in a skillet than an actual pancake. It tasted as though someone poured bland pancake batter into a skillet, stuck it in the oven, and called it a day. And let's not forget the excessive amount of powdered sugar they pile on top. That was my first indicator that this pancake was going to be nasty. In my experience, when a pancake needs to be buried under powdered sugar, it's usually not a good sign. Unfortunately, I was right. All that powdered sugar couldn't make up for how bland and disappointing the actual pancake was. I have no idea what they're doing in that kitchen, but whatever it is, they need to stop. And for the amount of money they're charging for ONE pancake? Absolutely not. The price would be questionable even if it tasted amazing, but charging that much for something so underwhelming is ridiculous. There was nothing about it that justified the cost. Unfortunately, the customer service was just as disappointing. Since I wasn't able to place my order online, I had to go inside to order. I stood at the register for at least 10 minutes while employees continued making drinks at the bar. Not one person acknowledged me, greeted me, or even offered a simple "We'll be right with you." What made it worse was that they appeared to see me standing there and still said absolutely nothing. It genuinely felt like they were hoping I would just leave. Only after they finished what they were doing did someone finally acknowledge me. Being busy is understandable. Completely ignoring a customer standing directly in front of you is not. I don't expect anyone to drop everything they're doing, but basic courtesy and acknowledgment should be the bare minimum, especially at a restaurant charging these prices. Overall, I found absolutely nothing enjoyable about this experience. The pancake was horrible, the pricing was unjustifiable for the quality, and the service made me feel unwelcome before I even received my food. Needless to say, I will NEVER return. Some places are worth giving a second chance. This is not one of them.

I was pleasantly surprised by the excellent food, drinks, hospitality and service at this dine in restaurant. I was driving pass thinking what am I going to eat and I saw 2 customers walk out with 2 big bags of food... I said to myself people don't buy that much food unless it's good.. So I decided to give it a try. I had chicken and waffles, and a specialty alcohol adult drink....lol There was music playing as I sipped my drink and waited for my food which came out in no time. The drink and music playing gave the place a warm happy hour vibe. The waffles were sooooo good.... They were soft, fluffy and cooked to perfection. I'm like is this a cake or a waffle. The wings were seasoned perfectly and crisp to perfection. It felt like I was a an upscale restaurant on PeaceTree street in Atlanta.... I highly recommend this place for an early morning brunch, lunch or after work bite to eat before you go home.

My friend had a table at the front so I immediately saw him when I walked in. Wasn't crowded and people at each table were enjoying themselves. They had music but it wasn't overwhelming so conversations were possible. I ordered 4pc wings and grits (cuz I had a bad grits experience at breakfast so I figure this would redeem it). They also had free mimosa on Sunday (hint hint). Also, they close their kitchen at 3:30pm as well. Food wise, I was satisfied. They had a limited menu. Chicken was hot and crispy. Grits were hot and buttery. I enjoyed a basic meal and will gladly come back. Gotta try the G sauce I heard about.

Great cod, I love it. It was pretty busy with diners, but we were lucky to be only a few in line. Order at the counter, cashier today was super friendly and that always sets the tone. I went with fried chicken livers as an app and 2 piece fried catfish with fries. I went with the special cocktail, too. Livers arrived; they are all for me! I ate a few and then saved the rest for a snack later. They are fried, but not greasy, a light breading with good flavor. My drink was delivered, I was a little nervous about cherry and orange together, but it was quite good, very refreshing. My picture of the drink name didn't save properly but I think it was the Island Dream, don't quote me on it, though! Food delivered hot and fresh, I got some tarter sauce from the condiment/ drink bar area but I used the Crystal hot sauce, too. The catfish was fresh, crispy, and delicious. The fries were ok this time. I got a bunch of crunchy ones. Everything was good, might try to stop in for Brunch on Saturday but it will probably be crazy! Go experience the Grove and know you can get a lot of the great food at the Crestwood location next time!

I'm glad I entered from the opposite way google maps wanted me to add the lot isn't as big as it should be. The seating inside is a little cramped to me, at least where they sat us. Outside of that, the service was really good. Great staff, very attentive. Menu had a nice option so it took us a minute to fully review the menu. The food was delicious. Upon arriving, the parking lot appeared jammed pack, and you could tell there was a wait. I checked us in to be put on the waiting list. Our wait was about 30 minutes. We were sat at a two top table. A server came over to grab our drink order, and our actual server came over to introduce his self. Our server was polite and willing to answer any questions I had. We waited about 30-40 minutes for our food to come out. I ordered short stack pancakes (w/strawberries and blueberries), bacon and eggs. The pancakes were huge, fluffy, and savory. Bacon was crispy, and eggs were cooked perfectly. My husband ordered a country omelet that came with a side of pancakes. He stated his pancakes were rubbery, but his omelet was good. This place is not very big and can feel quite cramped when full. There's not much room to stretch out, and when people are walking past it feels as if they are all up on you. The building was extremely cold, even with a jacket on. Very filling, and the prices are reasonable!

The restaurant is located on a quaint corner with a couple outdoor benches for waiting. We went for a busy Sunday morning brunch service. Staff was very proficient at getting diners in and we were very okay with the wait. The inside is very pleasant, a mix between a bar vibe and mom & pop diner vibe. Once we were seated is when our experience began to drift away. Our particular server greeted us fairly quickly, but after taking our drink order we waited for 15+ minutes for them to be brought out. Initially I gave the server some grace, assuming it was perhaps because they were busy. As our brunch continued it became apparent our particular server was either bad at her job or just didn't care and the initial wait for our drinks was pretty on par with the rest of this server's attentiveness to our visit. I will say the rest of the staff seemed amazing. The manager/owner(?) came and checked on us a couple times and seemed invested in our experience. The product itself was amazing. Great menu selections (food, drinks, boozy options, and the food and drinks themselves were outstanding. Fun environment. One of the TVs in our section was playing old GI Joe cartoons (right in my wheelhouse) while the other had sports programming on. My hope is the particular server we had was an outlier for this establishment, which is why despite her horrible service, I provided a rating. Our server brought our check out while we were still eating. My drink was empty and I intended on ordering another one but I wasn't asked. Despite this visit, I would certainly return and give the service a second chance.

At the end, our waitress brought us their chocolate mousse with a candle to celebrate. Truly the best mousse we've ever tried. We were both very impressed with the food and service. I'd highly recommend this place for a nice date night or girls night.
