The welcome mat was swamped as I entered the hotel. They were cleaning it. They ended up cleaning it the next day too. I don't understand what was causing it to get so dirty but that was a first impression that tracked consistently throughout my stay. The staff aren't really in any kind of uniform so other than standing behind the desk, no way of telling if they are guests loitering in the lobby or employees of this Aloft. One of the elevators was out the entire stay. The other was acting a little buggy. I took the stairs often during my two day, two night stay. The fitness center is small. Not a problem, per se. Kind of on-brand for Aloft. The problem is two of two treadmills were out of commission. I ran in the residential park down the road after taking the stairs. At least all the lights and tech in the room were operational. Located in a strip mall area with a number of restaurants makes it convenient but the lack of concern over maintenance in the common areas makes me reluctant to ever stay here again. And as a Bonvoy member I stay in A LOT of their hotels. I feel like I should get a points rebate for using points during this stay. read more

Did not go in with the highest expectations and it was as expected! Check in was easy, then you go to a tired elevator and hallways with carpet well beyond its prime ! Upon opening the room it has a light sewer smell and the duvet did not look fresh and was rumpled as though it had been laid on before. Room is a typical Aloft so basic dorm like. Always like the Dry Bar bathroom amenities but they would have been a lot better if there was any water pressure - sink was ridiculous and could not properly rinse my toothbrush! View is more rooms and a flat field but not expecting more than that ! Kept blinds shut so I did not have to look at my neighbors. Think from now on will just do a really long day with early flight in and late flight out negating the need for a hotel !! read more

On the surface, the Aloft in Lubbock looks like a solid choice -- stylish lobby, modern design, and a price point ($209/night) that suggests a premium experience. Unfortunately, the housekeeping standards fell far short of that expectation. When I first arrived, everything appeared in order. Later, though, I discovered long brown hair in the shower and even on the bathroom ceiling -- which was especially noticeable since I'm bald. Later that evening, when I pulled back the covers, I found both long strands and shorter hair underneath the linens. That was not only disappointing but unsettling. I reported the issue through the app and was reassured the room would be properly cleaned the next morning at 9am. When I returned at 11am, however, I found the same dirty linens simply tucked back in, water stains still on the bathroom counter, and a bathroom floor that clearly hadn't been swept in quite some time. For a property charging over $200 per night, I expected much better. The Aloft brand markets itself as modern and fresh, but cleanliness is the most basic standard any hotel should meet. Until management seriously addresses housekeeping, I cannot recommend staying here. read more

I've rewritten my review many times to ensure it's accurate and fair. And after being "misled" by the front desk staff whom I encountered both in person and on the phone. And, hung up on [twice] in a single day by the hotel's poorly trained and unprofessional manager, Jack Willian Bleu Frantzen, or is it Tracy Joiner, or Niraj H. Patel? My accounting of events accurately portrays the unprofessionalism, abysmal customer service, and substandard maintenance at the Aloft Hotel, located at 2909 Iola Avenue, Lubbock, Texas. I've tried to comprehend the deplorable operating principles for this hotel and the nine others run by TAJ Hospitality Management and the family of Henry I. Patel (founder, CEO & President), Aviraj H. Patel (Managing Director), Niraj H. Patel (Director), Pooja Patel (COO), et al. It's plain to see that honesty and transparency are not part of the Patel vocabulary. And deplorable customer service stems from a culture within the Patel company. It's a culture that doesn't hesitate to lie to customers. I realize that "non procul proprio stipite poma cadunt," translated as "the apples fall not far from their tree," is the standard set by the Patel family and adopted by its employees. And likely the other nine hotels that TAJ Hospitality operates. Most at TAJ Hospital will probably believe this review is a fabrication. That's likely due to the corporate culture that teaches the Patel way of dealing with customers. From the moment we arrived on June 29 until we checked out early the next morning, everything about this "hotel-in-a-box" was substandard. The issues at the Aloft were: a rude receptionist, who became annoyed when my wife asked for our room number and an upgraded room (instructed by Marriott to request upon arrival), given the hotel's less than 50% occupancy. A person named Jackie, claiming to be an assistant manager, stated that HIPAA regulations prohibited hotel employees from disclosing room numbers. We didn't receive an upgrade after being told we did by Avery, and what kind of uneducated person quotes HIPAA regulations as a hotel regulation? One response was a lie, and the other was ridiculous. Upon getting to our room, we found that the deadbolt did not work and attempted to call downstairs, but no one answered. The explanation given by Jackie for the dead bolt was absolute nonsense. Then there was the blackout. Yes, there was a power outage in the area. While the power outage isn't the fault of Aloft, the hotel's unpreparedness led to issues. At approximately 0230 hours, I got up to use the bathroom and stumbled, bumping and banging into walls, door knobs, bed corners, and cabinets as I tried to find the facilities in 100% darkness. I take warfarin, which is a blood thinner that causes instant and severe blood clots. By morning, after stumbling around a pitch black room without a single battery-powered or auxiliary light, you can imagine what my legs and arms looked like. I still bear the bruises that occurred that night. Additionally, there was a lack of ice (or signage) on the floor, as well as the absence of an ice bucket in the room. I need to refrigerate medication, so the ice and bucket are necessary in case there is no refrigerator. That night, the minifridge stopped working, and my medication was warm to the touch in the morning. I had to discard it. As a result, I had to reorder and ship it via FedEx that same day to Austin, Texas. I informed Haley in the morning of this and all the other issues (too numerous to list), and she said that the manager had worked over the weekend and was off that day, another lie. And I should expect a call the next day. Three weeks later, there was no call from Jack Frantzen. Jack William LeBleu Frantzen fits the Peter Principle to a T. His disregard for customer service is disturbing and dangerous. It is no surprise that Aloft registers an abysmal rating of 3.5. After waiting for Jack Frantzen to respond as promised the morning of July 1, 2025, I called Marriott Bonvoy. I submitted my complaints, which included not receiving an upgraded room, physical harm, the inoperable dead bolt, the lack of anyone to answer the phone, the lack of accessible parking spaces and luggage carts upon arrival, and the non-response from Jack Frantzen, among other issues. My review only partially addresses the poor service provided by Frantzen, the Patel family, and TAJ Hospitality. A telephone message I received two days ago was from Naraj H. Patel, masquerading as Jack Frantzen, and it implied a vague threat involving hotel camera footage. I interpret this to mean that there are cameras in the guest rooms, where the more compelling issues occurred. Amendment: After complaining to Marriott for weeks, I finally reached a supervisor with understanding and compassion. Tara resolved my issues with Marriott, but was unable to speak on behalf of Jack Frantzen. If this manchild should find the courage to call me, I will include his responses in this review. read more

The rooms are smaller but who cares, it's a rack and a toilet. I'll be just fine. When you walk in it's modern, everyone is friendly, and it has a great smell. Guess I'm hooked by the scent. *shrugs* Location wise this place is situated perfectly. Walkable for food, 7 minutes from the hospital (work), and 12 from the airport. I didn't go to the bar last night, but the gal behind the bar was laughing with guests and genuinely seemed to be happy. This hotel has been my home in Lubbock a few times now, and it is a consistently good place to stay. It is in a great location, with easy walking access to shops and restaurants, and with easy driving access to the loop. The staff here is usually friendly and helpful, and the common areas and rooms are clean. The bathroom is now stocked with the fancier Marriott shampoo/body wash accessories rather than the old shower wall pumps full of the same. Other than that, the Aloft has the same feel as others. Modern and efficient. A nice change is an improvement in the quality of their refrigerators. These small fridges are "smart fridges" that excel at keeping your snacks and drinks as cold as you need them. I enjoy my stays here at this property, and the comfort of the hotel takes the sting out of being in West Texas. read more

Generally, I love the Aloft franchise. This one didn't meet the standards (or actually the enjoyment & comfort) that most of them have. The place had the normal stylish, modern look and feel. The staff were great as usual. The room was pretty clean. The problem was the noise. We were overlooking the pool, bar-patio and the noise was deafening. Literally, it was so intrusive that there wasn't a chance of any relaxation, peace, or semblance of quiet. If you arrive late or are at the party, no harm. If not, make sure you DEMAND a room not overlooking that area on the inside of the hotel. Finally, the shade does a brilliant job except for the 2 inch gap around it. Why bother having that good of a shade if they can't install it? Do NOT go here if you aren't alone and either oof you usually gets up at night. There is a fogged window between the bathroom and bed area. If you turn on the light at night, everyone gets the light! That was a cool style but a dumb design in reality. Very disturbing if your companion has to get up or has different hours. read more

I had a wonderful experience at this hotel. The check in was easy, clean rooms, and friendly staff. It is a beautifully decorated hotel. With a bar and kitchen staying open until 12am. They have a pool table and plenty of seating downstairs in the lobby for study night, meetings, and whatever else you might need. They have a cute indoor poll and small gym. Rooms look just like you would picture a loft to look like. I highly recommend staying here. Now they do not have a microwave in the room, however for the comfort and the price it's something to look over. read more

Two words can describe the Aloft. Cutting. Corners. When you first look at the big, looming hotel that backdrops the shopping area, Dave & Buster's, and several restaurants, one can't help but think that this HAS to be the best hotel one could possibly get! Nothing could be further from the truth. While the other reviews do a nice job of showing why this place is so terrible, let this review serve to reinforce that idea. In our stay, we encountered first an oddly pungent smell in the lobby. No big deal, we'll just scurry up to our rooms and try to ignore it. Ah well, it's in the hallways too. At least the room doesn't have it. Take note of this for later, this will be important. After that, we had a handful of spotty outlets. No big deal, we'll just plug into another one. Sure, they work, but the hit-or-miss nature of them makes me only wonder how bad the other rooms could be. Moreover, we noticed the toilet paper was wet with god-knows-what on it. Whether it's urine, toilet water, or just straight-up faucet water, we never cared to tell. We just tossed it out and requested a different roll. So the last three things weren't that bad, right? Just something many would consider the typical hotel 1-in-10 fluke. Well, we were then met with what really sealed the nail in the coffin. The shower. Oh my god, the shower. Attached to this review is a picture of the shower running at the MAXIMUM setting. Look at it. Let's count it together. One blast of water? Five? Twenty? Nope! Seven blasts of water. That's all you get here. Seven. Now, you would think that these seven measly blasts of water were blasts. Nope. More like pathetic streams. Taking an actual shower took me...at least 32 minutes. To get actually clean. We timed it after my Mom mentioned it during her shower. So, folks, this is where the smell came from. No one can shower properly because their water pressure is awful. This hotel cut corners and played us for fools. Don't let them fool you too. read more

From the entrance to the Exit. Everything was 5- Star. Jack, the GM was awesome, making us feel welcomed. He explained all of the amenities and even ensured we have one of the better rooms without asking. It was a very spacious King suite. The breakfast was great and the WXYZ bar was a vibe. This place is a dump. The staff is ok. Not warm or friendly but just ok. The cleanliness and maintenance is in desperate need of help. The first room we were given had shower caulk literally hanging down from the walls. Idk what happened in there but I want no part of that. Second room we were given smelled off and was not clean. The hallway actually smelled musty. The room was dirty. We put a towel on the floor and it got wet from shower. When we wiped up some water on the floor and turned it over the towel was really dirty. Floors aren't clean. The sheets had a weird stain. The bathroom was filthy. Gross stains that looked like mucous splattered across the back wall of the sink and tons of dust accumulated everywhere. I am Including pics of the bathroom and the mirror at the entrance showing how much dust is sitting there. Like it's never been cleaned. The shower doors had accumulated dark brown hairs and gross brown gunk. They really need to clean better in this place. I felt dirty when I left. read more

We are frequently traveling on road trips from Texas to Colorado or Nebraska. It is so convenient to have the Bonvoy app because we will have to spend the night somewhere depending on how traffic is, how rainy or just fatigued. I can search the upcoming town and choose a spot , book and pay from the car as we drive. I especially love discovering hotels like Aloft which are cozy and modern , just perfect for an overnight stay and they do not charge pet fees!! The Aloft in Lubbock and Waco Texas were very nice with friendly staff . The Lubbock Aloft was spacious with a pool table and nice eating area. Very nice vibe and clean. I regularly stay at the Aloft in Lubbock and have had consistent great experiences. This evening I had the pleasure to be assisted by Frankie and he was an absolute joy. Since I was coming from out of town, I knew that by the time I would arrive in Lubbock, the restaurants would be closed so I decided that while I was en route to Lubbock, I could place an order through UberEats and have it delivered to the hotel. I've never done this before so I called the hotel and Frankie was a gracious and informative person as he helped me coordinate my delivery. When I arrived at the hotel, I was greeted warmly by Frankie, by name (which most certainly made me feel special), and he proceeded to efficiently check me in while reminding me of the hotel's many amenities. After a very long day of work and travel, I felt right at home because he made me feel like a valued guest. In addition, I had a great conversation with the hotel's bartender, Nate. I am happily in my room, enjoying my meal and relaxing . I have no doubt that I will rest well, wake up in an amazing room, have a safe, clean and productive workout in their fitness center then be on my way to have a wonderful day at work. As someone who travels for work, I have spent a lot of time in hotels. Some great, some not so great. This was BY FAR the dirtiest, least comfortable hotel I have ever stayed at. From the stained towels and mold spots in the shower, to the filth covered elevators and hallway carpeting - and everything in between. I quite literally slept fully clothed to avoid touching any additional surfaces. Save your $250+ and book anywhere else. read more

I travel A Lot. I usually find Aloft hotels as a nice hotel and a good value. Usually very consistent. Not this one!!! This was the worse hotel I've stayed at in many years. A/C wouldn't cool below 74, maintenance of paint, walls, flooring on the low end of acceptable and the big one - no hot water for anyone all morning! To make matters worse, the front desk lady didn't seem to care. I couldn't even get a "I'm sorry" out of her. This place is super cute and is in the middle of this huge mall. You can find anything here! What is lacking is their coffee services and their food. Coffee is mediocre at best and they have no coffee creamer! The entire week and I was here. They only offered me milk for my coffee. the food is interesting in that it seems like it's all packaged. But they go back and get it for you and put it in the microwave and serve it as if they made it for you. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The price is right on! You can actually ask for a discount if you phone it in and they will give you one. It was nice. read more

We made reservations here last minute and so glad we did! Pet friendly, nice clean rooms, soft bedding, but most of all-friendly, courteous staff. From Valerie at the front desk to Tiarra at the WXYZ bar-everyone made us feel at home! Very accommodating to all our needs. We stayed playing pool until the bar shut down and had such a good time with family. The drinks were great, wine selection was extensive too. I love the convenience of this Aloft. Like any hotel, there are some things I'd change regarding a few amenities, but overall, I like this location. One thing I certainly appreciate and hope their effort doesn't go unnoticed is the dedication of the employees. They definitely make the difference and are why I return time and again. The front desk folks are so helpful and friendly. The hands on folks cleaning and maintaining the facility go out of their way to accommodate. Then there's the W XYZ Bar...Kait was a rock star! Super attentive and did a great job keeping drinks fresh and bouncing back to the kitchen to retrieve food in a timely manner. After a couple of orders she remembered my cocktail of choice but would confirm each time that's what I wanted. Guests beware. I'd rate it zero if it would allow.The customer service at the hotel is non-existent. They are there for the money and not the customer. As a fireman, my husband dedicates his life to serving others, but the prop mgr Alexis is not interested in doing what is right because policy says even tho her staff provided inaccurate information, she was dodging my call for a week, and she still had 10 days to rebook the room, she refused to even compromise on a resolution. My husband booked to attend a training for protecting kids in school shooting situations, but the training was cancelled, so we had to cancel the reservation. Not our fault! Instead of showing compassion for the circumstances, she chose to stick it to the first responder and not refund $864. I'm sure it won't break the hotels bank to do the right thing, but instead she chose to break the fireman's bank to say thank you for your service!! I would not recommend staying anywhere the is lead by a manager that finds joy in sticking it to first responders. Simple solution...do what's right and refund his hard earned money that you're not entitled to. Stay anywhere else that put customers first and respects men and women of service. read more

The worst Marriott I have ever been in, hands down. It wants to be edgy and modern, but whoever designed the rooms should be fired on the spot. The barn door for the bathroom weighed about 100 lbs, could not slide it shut. Sucks for you if you're trying to get ready near the sink and someone is still sleeping in the bed, because the light switch turns on both areas at the same time. Want a stupid table/bench in your room? They squeeze it in the corner so there's no room to walk near the bed. Want to unpack your clothes? Sorry, can't do that! Want to sleep at night? Don't count on it, every time another guest closes their door, it slams very loudly, there is no sound proofing anywhere. Don't look up, you might see the black mold on the ceiling. I could go on with more. I have never hated a place so much, this puts the Marriott brand to shame. read more

Atomic Ranch vibe but... So I'm a Bonvoy guy. Love Bonvoy. Gold level baby. This hotel looks amazing. Great hip industrial style but it sucks on many levels. First you have no closet. Second you have no dresser so forget unpacking because it is physically impossible. It's just not there. Nothing. Zip. There are a couple coat/hat hangers. If you aren't here for a day to help your kid acclimate to Tech, don't stay here. Third, there's no bar soap. Gel in the shower, gel at the sink. Wtf? Get used to it because that's all you got. Fourth, there's no food. You can stand at the "shop" but no one is coming. There's snacks but no food and no one to attend to you. Parking is easy but if you rent a car get insurance because in Texas people bang doors. Maybe it's the wind or maybe it's whatever. I really don't know but I got insurance and it's saved me $$$, because I got door dings. Wall paper is retro Palm Springs Googie Style cool "But that's all I got to say about that." Really, style good, accommodation not great and you litterally can't unpack. Really. You can't unpack. But... it's clean and comfortable and the staff is friendly and warm. Texas hospitality. We require a wheelchair accessible roll-in shower, so I always call the week before to make sure that we are assigned to that specific room type. I called the Saturday before we arrived and the gentleman who answered the phone confirmed that we indeed had a wheelchair accessible room with a roll in shower hard locked . When I arrived I was told by Frankie that we have no handicap rooms. I told him I called Saturday and was told our room was "hard locked" .He asked he who I spoke to. I told him I didn't know and then he asked what number I dialed. I looked at my cell log and told him it was the gentleman that answered when I pressed 3 for the manager Saturday at 1:47 PM. Frankie said he was sorry but they had no rooms and made no attempt to find me an acceptable room at one of the other two Marriott locations in Lubbock. He was done with me. I said that I'd like to speak to the manager. He said she's in a meeting. I waited. She arrived and found us a room but told me that we would not have a room available when we return this Sunday. Again, no attempt to help us find other accommodations. I took my things to the room and came back and asked for some attempt from her at service recovery. She said she would think about it and let me know if she would give me some points tomorrow or not. NEVER AGAIN Lubbock! I've stayed at least 300 nights at Marriott. The manager is Alexis. I booked a hotel room with Aloft for next week as we will be touring Texas Tech University Campus. I booked a hotel room for the weekend and they double charged me for the room. It is a duplicate charge for the same nights. I called the hotel and they refuse to give me my money back. I had purchased travel insurance through the website. I called the Allianz Travel Insurance customer service and they state that they can not help me, that it has to be a medical emergency or another issue, but they cannot help me if it is a duplicate charge. I have tried to fix the issue so they can re-book the room in time of our stay. I am having to dispute the charge through my bank in order to resolve the problem. This is my first review of the company, I have never stayed at Aloft Hotel before and if they cannot fix my problem I will not stay at Aloft ever again in the history of my existence. When I called them, they acknowledged they had a problem with their website, and still wouldn't refund me the money....Just wanted to warn you before they defraud you of your money as well.....As a business owner myself, this is not how to do business..... read more
