My room was great - comparable to the W downtown. The staff was very friendly and went the extra mile of sending me my bag after I stupidly left it in the lobby - at no charge. Thank you! read more

I stayed here for business in October 2018 for 4 nights. What I liked about the hotel is that they always have bottled water at the lobby that you are free to grab to take back to your room. The room itself was clean. Since it is located at the Domain, there were plenty of restaurants within walking distance to grab dinner. I used the gym and it is a small facility, but has the basic equipment to get in a workout while on a business trip. The staff at the front desk were always friendly. I would stay here next time I'm in the Austin area. read more

Loved that this property was dog friendly. Rooms were clean and well appointed. Great Rates and Friendly service.

Fabulous service here! Ang at the front desk was sweet and accommodating after a horrible experience at the La Quinta across the way. We were in a rush trying to make a movie, and Ang went out of her way to get us settled in our room, make sure everything was satisfactory, and even called a shuttle to get us to the theater on time. My only small complaint was housekeeping knocked at 10am on a Saturday morning, so make sure you put the Do Not Disturb sign on your door if you want to sleep in. read more

Please do not stay here because my car was broken into in their parking lot as well as my brand new Toyota was door dinged! To top it off the hotel toke no responsibility what so ever!!! If staying in the Domain, please spend a little extra money to stay at The Westin down the street at the Domain. Also the rooms were extremely small if staying long term. read more

The Good: First, every staff member I encountered was friendly and very helpful, and the check-in and check-out processes were both quick and easy. The bed was very comfortable, though the fitted sheet came off in the middle of the night the first night. The bathroom setup was well laid-out save for an issue I'll state below. Next, we stayed on the fifth floor, which is the same side as a bar a corner in the same building as the hotel, facing a parking garage. Our first night was a Friday night, and we could easily hear the bass from the stereo in the bar/patio, as well as people talking on the patio. Even with some white noise from my phone app, the bass could be heard thumping until 2 AM. Even the door to the hall/hotel room seemed to be this, as I could hear conversations and other doors opening and closing seemingly too easily. I realize the door issue is common in hotels. The TV, when turned on, showed a channel that was blank, and when you entered in a valid channel, the volume was at 24 every time, which was very loud. The bathroom was laid out with a sliding door separating the sink/closet area from the toilet and shower with no door between the sink area and the bed area. We had no issue with this save for the light. There was only one light switch activating the lights for both the shower/toilet area & the sink area. If you needed light for the toilet or shower, you also lit up the bedroom. If you're a man and need to use the toilet in the middle of the night and do not want to awaken your girlfriend/SO in the bedroom, you need a flashlight or to sit on the toilet unless you want to blindly aim at it while peeing standing. Parking is complimentary in a convenient lot adjacent to the building. There is a bar in the lobby area and restaurant/bar next door in the same building but not accessible through the hotel. The hotel is very nice and convenient to north/NW Austin. I do recommend it to first time visitors to make their own decisions. read more

This review is only for the bar - WXYZ. I'm local to Austin so have never stayed in the Aloft. However, I have several coworkers from out of town who stay here repeatedly and like it a lot. I've met people from out of town at the bar frequently and they loved that they had live music at the bar. They felt is was a very "Austin" thing since this is the "Live Music Capital of the World." The music is a really nice touch and it's just one guy with an acoustic guitar so it's not too loud. I enjoyed it so much, I came back a few weeks later with my wife just to have drinks and listen to this guy play. I heard last night that they are getting rid of the live music as a cost cutting measure - seriously?! Well, the Westin just down the street has live music at their bar so if you're looking for a slice of Austin music, go there. Otherwise, the WXYZ bar is like any other hotel bar just with a modern hipster veneer. read more

Stayed at the Aloft overnight for the Max Raabe concert in early April on the UT campus. Very European look to the accommodations and the Domain area is a great nightlife with restaurants, bars and high-end shopping. The hotel rate was very reasonable and free Valet parking-what a deal...... I'll be staying here again next time I'm in Austin. read more

I was appalled with the bartender's customer service at the WXYZ Bar in the Aloft Austin Domain. A large group and I walked into the WXYZ bar hoping we could have a nightcap. However the bartender, on duty the day after Thanksgiving, was far from having a holiday spirit and lacked the ability to treat our party with dignity and respect. We ordered 6 drinks and moved to the fireplace, to the side of the bar, to quickly take a photo. Apparently while we were taking the photo, the bartender fixed my drink but didn't hand it to me. Thus, my drink sat randomly at the opposite end of the bar and I had no knowledge the bartender ever made it. Several minutes went by and when I asked the bartender when he could make my drink he pointed to the drink, at the other end of the bar signaling that was my drink. Thus, I asked if the bartender could make a new drink as I never received the drink he pointed to, the drink was left at the opposite end of the bar, and the drink was left unattended for several minutes. The bartender then became instantly irritated with my request for a new drink and responded "you should learn how to order a drink when you are ready to drink it". I was appalled and disappointed with the bartender's tone, attitude and delivery as my previous experiences at other Aloft and Starwood hotel bars had been excellent to date. I never received an apology from the bartender with the negative and rude demeanor and the bartender told one of the people in my party that he saw no need to apologize. I understand that everyone has bad days from time to time. However it takes seconds to fix a new drink, accommodate "your" customer's drink request and ensure that all WXYZ customers are welcomed patrons at the WXYZ bar. In the future, I hope Starwood and every Starwood employee decides to put "the customer" first and truly treat ALL customers with dignity and respect. In addition, I hope the WXYZ bar and the Aloft Austin hotel quickly realizes that happy customers create happy, profitable, long lasting brands/companies. read more

We had such a nice experience at this hotel. The staff has been so friendly and accommodating! The hotel is very clean. There is a fun vibe to the decor and we are centrally located to all shops and restaurants. We will be back for sure ! Thanks for a great experience. read more

This hotel is located a in trendy, midtown up and coming area not far from downtown, you can practically walk to all the shopping, bars and restaurants. Upon checking in on friday afternoon, the view from the outside looked great, though reviews said otherwise and had me on alert since my brother in law was celebrating his birthday in the Austin Domain area I decided to book at the same hotel. No problems at check-in for me, but my sister had issues checking in at the front desk (minor issues). Since this is a celebration weekend we decided to purchase 2 liquor bottles at the local Specs and bring back to our room for a little pre-drink before we go out on the town. Saturday afternoon we left to visit a few places, lunch at the Famous Salt Lick and shopping before heading back to the hotel. Immediately got ready for dinner that evening left again only to return and find my liquor bottle gone. Noticing the cleaning staff had come and gone because my room was tidy and things moved around from the way I left them. I did a double check for my bottle of vodka, but it was nowhere to be found. I called the front desk immediately to inform them my personal property/bottle was missing from my room. They apologized and stated the cleaning staff was already gone and no manager was on property. She stated she would call a manager to see what to do and call me back. I think 20 mins went by and I decided to go down to the front desk as it was almost 9pm and we wanted to have celebratory drink before heading out for my bro-in laws bday. I arrived to the front desk and the staff lady says I spoke with a manager and unfortunately we cannot do anything tonight, it will have to wait until the morning. Of course I was pissed because obviously I drove to the store and purchased this bottle of vodka, it was in my room and now I consider it stolen or removed from my room without warning or notification. I told her this was very unprofessional and left a bad taste in my mouth this being my first staying at this hotel. I've never had anything taken from my room, I travel quite a bit for work and personal life so I've stayed at multiple hotels all over the world. I told her the bottle was half full, you would think they would offer vouchers to use at their bar for the inconvenience until tomorrow or something..nope. Apparently the staff can steal from your room and management does nothing. I was told management would contact me first thing in the morning, guess what no one ever called me. A manager was not there when I checked Sunday morning, and I called to speak to a manager sunday afternoon. This manager "Mae", was never told about the incident...go figure and she at first tried to say they have a "alcohol policy", I stated that i'd never heard of this but even if you did, nothing should be removed from my room without my permission or your informing me. She agreed and stated they would figure out what happened and call me back. I've never heard back from her, another manager or the GM (Travis). It's pretty sad that a cleaning staff can steal anything from a guests room and nothing happens. Luckily that's all that was taken as they will never get my business again. We still enjoyed our trip by visiting a bar outside of this hotel and I didn't let this ruin the birthday celebration. I wouldn't recommend this hotel as they are not worried about customer service or making sure your stay is excellent. read more

A very comfortable, reasonably priced hotel with great customer service. The front desk staff were very friendly, responsive, and thoughtful. The bed was comfortable, the Internet was fast and free, the shower had great water pressure. Overall, a great place to stay. read more

Whenever my hubby and I need to make a visit to Austin, we always love staying at the Domain. It has everything you really need - a gorgeous outdoor shopping mall, plenty of restaurants and cafes nearby, a wonderful Whole Foods within walking distance, and easy access to MoPac. If we are feeling a little thriftier, we opt to stay at the Aloft instead of (its fancier counterpart) the Westin. Rates range from $100-130 a night for an extremely modern and comfortable hotel. The rooms have all the essentials you could want in a loft layout (i.e. there are no walls that separate the bathroom and bedroom areas), but it still gives you that 4-star feel with how well-kept it is. The big bonus for us is that Aloft (and the Westin) is dog-friendly, which is a must for us. If you tell them ahead of time, they'll even give your pup a dog bed, some food/water bowls, a few doggie treats, and some toys for funsies. Parking's aplenty at their private lot, and the staff is always friendly. Highly recommend! read more

I'm giving this place a 5 star review! Seriously. I stayed here back in November 2012 during the US F1 GP weekend. Stayed Thurs-Sun. First, the location is just a little north of downtown Austin in an area called The Domain. It's a very nice neighborhood. In fact, it's across the street from an upscale mall. (Ladies, there's even a Neiman Marcus that you can see from the front door...) There are also a couple restaurants in walking distance (including a CPK.) The hotel itself is newer, clean and the staff were very friendly. Since I'm a platinum SPG member I may be a bit biased. I was invited to a VIP event at this very hotel where I had the opportunity to meet one of the F1 drivers (Nico Rosberg). Definitely a huge highlight of my trip. It's a simple hotel with just the right amount of amenities and comfort. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat. Who knows? Maybe I'll come back for another F1 race!! read more

I am very sad to say that I have been violated at your hotel. I rented the room for a special occasion and after a night out.... I come back to my hotel room open. My personal items were broken (phone and straightener), also the room was a mess where someone went through all suitcases, purses and even my make up bag! I immediately called security. As we were discussing what we had come back to with the police officer and a worker.... the general manager who was staying a few rooms down RUDELY tells us to be quiet and demands we go downstairs to discuss whatever was going on. The worker told him that our "room had been broken in to" he snarked back that he 'did not care and to take it down stairs.' WoW, this is the person you have managing this business? Anyways, the police officer suggested we request a copy of the video surveillance. We went downstairs and of course 'there's no cameras on the fourth floor'! I am appalled at how this has been taking care of. I hope someone is able to help me to avoid further action. I no longer feel safe at your hotel, my personal items were destroyed, my privacy invaded and the general manager "does not care." read more

I travel all the time and stay at different hotels. This Aloft is awesome. First experience with this concept and I must say Starwood really knocked it out of the park. Super comfortable, cozy, fun, friendly, convenient, etc. Like a W but without the attitude and snobbery. read more

Aloft at The Domain has a great location. Our stay was very brief and we did not use all that they might have to offer so this review is based solely on our experience of the room. We had a small room with a King sized bed. Despite the size, there was plenty of room for all that we had (bags, large stroller, bassinet and a rock n play). The room was clean and quaint. It had a small mini fridge and all toiletries were fully stocked. Our room didn't have a great view, but we didn't mind. Apparently there was a party going on close to our room but we didn't hear a thing. The staff was friendly and the lobby seemed to have a bit of everything from forgotten items, snacks and drinks to entertainment for young and old. All of this at a rate of $130. We were happy with our stay. read more

Rooms have a very noisy exhaust fan in the shower that is always on, and cannot be turned off. All of the hallways smell like dogshit most of the time. On the day of the checkout, housekeeping routinely ignores your late checkout designation with the front desk from the evening before, and starts getting into your room well before 10:00 (normal checkout time is 12:00), even when you also do have a DND sign at the door, too. Reception views this privacy violation as not a big deal, and manager could only offer 750 points for the whole inconvenience, equivalent to 2% of my stay, and instead started arguing how much the points are worth, using an earning chart in place of the redemption one. What a joke. read more

Being from California, I was surprised to see this very updated and modern hotel. The colors were whimsical and the service was great. Everyone was super accommodating and I found the hotel to be very comfortable for a business trip. They even had sushi room service which was something new that I have never seen. This is in the Domain, which has a lot of stores and restaurants that are within walking distance. It was great to be placed there because not being from the area, I did not know where anything was. The hotel staff were attentive and they even had complimentary valet service for overnight guests. read more

Very clean and nice atmosphere.. No morning breakfast . As far as the construction there is a lot going on..

My husband and I Have had our fair share of hotel experiences. We do have to say that this Aloft is the best Aloft we have visited and one of the best hotels we have ever stayed at in this category. The amenities, location, lounge/bar experience, front desk staff and "dog friendly" policies really puts this spot above the rest! I dont often take the time to write reviews but when we experience service to a certain degree I feel obligated and am happy to do so. A personal favorite was Greg at the wxyz lounge downstairs. He really made us feel welcome and comfortable! Might add that Sunday is hh all day. We stayed for a while, with Greg going above and beyond to make drinks like Moscow mule, and mint julep (not on menu) as well as introducing some of his favorite specialty drinks that were delicious. Also, the front desk staff were so welcoming and concerning about our dog that had dental surgery the following morning. It made us feel like we were not far from home at all. The shopping in this area is first class and in walking distance. Dining is also walking distance... Gloria's is some of the best food around. If you are contemplating staying here, do.... You won't be disappointed! read more

I actually just went to the WXYZ bar inside the hotel (next door was way too loud and packed)-- I wasn't staying there, but the decor was really cool and young. It was Sunday evening, and there were only a couple people at the bar, but I actually had a great conversation with both the bartender and the other people drinking. The bartender was really nice, friendly, and made me a special drink based on what I was in the mood for ("Red Berry Bite" I believe is what he called it). And because of the drink special ($2 off everything! Including martinis), I tried a couple more. I highly recommend the chocolate cherry one, which was delicious and unexpectedly light for a dessert martini. Overall, the service and drinks were great. It definitely went beyond my expectations for a hotel bar! read more

I've never stayed at the hotel, being a local but the WXYZ bar is the best kept secret in the Domain. Best happy hour of all bars in the Domain; not just the price but the selection and friendly and knowledgeable staff. They have (had?) live music on Wednesdays and at least some weekends which is a nice touch. There's a pool table for some additional fun. In fact, the only real downside is the lack of a kitchen. It's not necessarily obvious that there's a good bar in the hotel lobby so I always make sure to recommend it to friends in the area looking to unwind after work. read more

A fun, hip aesthetically cool looking place to drop off your drunk friends, but if you're going to try to get any sleep and you're not black out drunk you're in for a rough night. I had to call the "aloha lobby" multiple times and request security first to tell the drunk women on the right of our room to maybe not knock on all the doors because you forgot which room their BFF is in, then again when the fraternity reunion on the right of us thought it be OK to rehash all their glory days outside in the hallway at 3am. That doesn't count the multiple times I had to tell 3 different couples of crying girls and hopeful male friends to find a room because I now know more about Stacey and her jealous roommate than I ever needed to know. Also, this location doubles as a test track for any rich idiot with a midlife crisis sports car that HAS to be peeled out and revved to the max, again, all hours of the night. read more

Stopped by for some drinks and live music last week. The music was fantastic and it was nice being able to experience the live music Austin's known for without having to venture downtown. The bartender Greg was extremely welcoming as well as very knowledgeable on drink choices. He truly knows how to make your guests feel welcome. Top notch service! I will try to make the Aloft a staple whenever I venture to the Domain! read more

We flew in from out of town and got to the hotel right at check in. We got to our room and put all our stuff away and left to make a wedding on time. We got back late that night to find that bathroom door was really hard to close. Plus it made a super loud screaching noise while trying to close it. This wasn't very convenient for our guests that came to our room. We tried using their audio block that goes through the tv to entertain our friends and found it wasn't working. Even the remote control for the TV wasn't even working! I had to physically get up and turn the tv channels myself. I decided I wasn't going to complain since this was our first vacation away from our 5 month old son. That came to a complete halt when early in the morning we heard dogs barking. The dogs barked every half hour. Just enough to fall back asleep and to be woken up again by high pitched dog barks. We complained to the front desk but they said that we were put on the dog floor. We didn't have a dog! I asked the man, why didn't you let us know you were putting us on the dog floor? Who in their right mind puts a wedding party on the dog floor??? The man said it depended on when we checked in. I told him we checked in right at check in. He just starred at me. With all the complaints we had about the room the guy did nothing to remedy the issue. I will never go to this hotel again or anyone affiliated with them. I might as well have just flushed my money down the toliet. read more

I am a frequent traveler and visitor of this hotel. My last experience has ruined the repetition of the expectations of a Starwood property. I encountered the rudest, most narcissistic person in all of my travels. Travis Sparks was not only rude but lacked any level of customer service. If you are looking for a nice hotel but a staff, specifically Travis, this is the place for you. This guy lacks professionalism and the aptitude to offer any level of customer service. He is so rude it has pushed me from this hotel being my primary hotel to stay to not staying here again. I love recognizing companies and employees for excellent service. Starwood gives their Platinum members these cards to recognize employees for anything we deem necessary. I have given plenty of these to the staff at hotels across the world, including this hotel to employees such as Andrea. However, it is necessary for me to also recognize anyone who lacks the skills required to work in an industry that requires them to interact with humans. Do better. read more

I will start by saying that the location and the Decour of the lobby and the rooms were nice. Now my reason for the two stars. As an SPG member for over 10 years I would have to say that this property and its management does not live up to the level of Starwood properties. You should expect and receive more for $250 a night especially for a room less than 300 ft.² The fireplace in the lobby/outside was in operable and it no one could fix it or get it to work which was a shame because of the fall weather yesterday October 21st. And even though parking was free you had to walk around to the front side of the hotel to enter the property because the back door by the pool leading to the garage was broken also. You would think a hotel of this level would have that fixed immediately but it was broken the entire three days I was there. And lastly again as an SPG member I do not appreciate booking a room at one price and then when I check in it is $40 cheaper per night on the same nights I am there. I brought this up to the manager and he said if I could show the lower rate for the entire stay then he would match it but of course there was no way for me to access the rate online again my first night there since I talked to him about it on the second day. It is something they should automatically do especially since once you login to the free Wi-Fi the hotels home page comes up with that days rates ..not too bright! I have stayed at numerous Alofts... W's ...Westin's and Sheraton's and this one property has changed my mind about Starwood read more

i was very disappointed in my stay. i booked this hotel for a girls weekend for my birthday. from the look on the pictures on the site, the room seems really nice. but when i arrived, i inspected out the room, bathroom, bed sheets- where i found BLOOD!! you would think from the hotel being in a real nice area that the rooms would be clean. but the carpet was coming apart and the room had a real bad odor. the rooms need major renovations. however, i did go back to the front desk where i told them about the blood i found on top of the sheets, and they were able to switch me to another room. i WILL NOT be staying there during my next visit to austin. read more
