We spent an excellent long weekend at Almost Paradise last week! We stayed in the Sunrise cabin, which has its own private (covered!) hot tub and sauna. Both were perfect after a few long days of hiking. We also took advantage of the campfire ring to end one of our evenings by the warm fire. The proximity to the Rainier park entrance was also hugely helpful - we were able to get there early and avoid the lines. We hope we'll get the chance to come back! read more

I almost don't want to share Almost Paradise, because it is, truly, almost paradise. We had the misfortune to visit Mt. Rainier during an absolutely appalling week of rain, but went on 8+ miles hikes anyway every day. We would arrive "home" each night to the Rainier Cabin, and gratefully put our sopping boots, etc., before the gas fireplace to dry. Then we'd dash out to the barbecue to grill at little food in the rain, and then eat dinner by the fire. After dinner, we'd warm up in own private hot tub (which, thank goodness, had a roof). And then we'd head off to bed, our sleep punctuated only by crickets. Almost paradise indeed. The owner is one of the nicest people on the planet, and each morning, she silently delivers a basket of breakfast goodies. Each item (cereal, etc) is carefully portioned out into its own little container, making you feel like a lucky second grader, pulling out special lunch treats at school. It was so delightful. She is also possessed of an endearingly friendly dog--I think his name as Dugan--who often waits by your door in the hopes that you might, just might, throw him a stick. One other selling point: our cabin had a microwave and fridge, so we saved a fortune by cooking instead of having to dine out every night. read more

If you are looking for a romantic getaway, look no further than Almost Paradise Lodging! My husband and I have been fortunate enough to visit 3 times, and each stay has been incredible! The property is so private and quiet, and gorgeous to boot! We love that you have your own hot tub, as well as double shower heads in the bathroom! The service is amazing, and Doogan the dog is so friendly and fun to play with! I highly recommend this place for the atmosphere, price, quaint charm, and care given to those who visit! read more

We stayed at the Woodland cabin. Absolutely amazing. The cabin is stocked with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Just run in to the local market for perishables and you never have to leave the cabin again! Hot tub, chess board, DVD player, coffee maker, toaster, modern stove and oven, microwave, and even a washer and dryer; there's nothing you'll miss from home ... except wifi or cell reception, but that's part of what you're getting away from, isn't it? From our cabin, we were a short five-minute drive outside of the park: perfect proximity to one of this country's most breathtaking National Parks. We stayed three days and never once saw Carol... The proprietors of Almost Paradise Lodging have great respect for your privacy, but the front desk and their friendly dog, Dugan, are always available should you have additional requests. If what you are looking for is a quaint, cozy, comfortable and clean cabin - you have met your match. Located about 3 miles from the Nisqually entrance of Mt. Rainier, this group of cabins was very easy to find (via the proprietor's great directions), even in the dark. My husband and I stayed in the Rainier cabin, which was a perfect amount of space for two people. Equipped with an amazing fireplace, small kitchen (with a microwave and toaster), and a very comfortable bed. Additionally, you have your own private hot tub just one step away from the cabin's door, under a covered porch. Even though it was probably 27 degrees, we opted to take a dip, using the bathrobes and slippers provided to shield us for those two feet or so. :) The cabin was extremely warm, clean, and fulfilled all of our needs (and more). I would highly recommend this for someone who is looking for some respite from a long day on Mt. Rainier, or just someone looking for a weekend away from the regular bustle. read more

My girlfriend/now fiancee and I visited Almost Paradise for two days and nights this past week. It was very private, and one of the closest rental places to the Nisqually entrance to Mt. Rainier. There is not much in terms of services up in Ashford, so we packed alot of food, etc. The "cabins" also came equipped with many essentials we needed to cook and relax. The place was nice and clean. There was a cool cat and German Shepard that hang out, belonging to the owner. Though we expected to be in a seperate cabin on the property the nice room we stayed in was attached to the main house. We did not see any cabins. Anyway, we had privacy, our own jacuzzi and sauna! And barbecue. It was super chilly outside, so we spent much of the time inside. The place heated up so quick. I was wearing shorts and flip flops like it was summer. We spent quite a bit of time there, and made a couple trips up to Paradise on one day and back to Narada Falls the next day. read more

My husband and I stayed for four days and nights in mid-July at the Meadow cabin. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there. My husband is an avid hiker, camper and outdoorsman but since I am not, Almost Paradise was the perfect location for our getaway. We were just a few miles from Mt. Rainier National Park and surrounded by nature YET we had all the comforts and amenities I don't like to be without. The cabin was rustic and cozy but very clean and well-stocked, with everything from kitchenware to extra toothbrushes in the immaculate bathroom. The bed was very comfortable too. So, while my husband enjoyed hiking and exploring nearby I sat in the shade of the adjacent forest garden and worked on my needlepoint. To each his (or her) own! We cooked a few meals and went out for a few others but were able to do exactly as we pleased in a lovely and restful place. We gladly recommend Almost Paradise! read more

OMG. Been here only 3 hours and we are completely in love with it. The owner is so thoughtful. You literally don't have to bring anything with you, except your clothes & food. She has pots, pans, serveware, (tin foil even) EVERYTHING. I wish we could stay here the week. We are staying in the Wildflower & have already discussed making this a yearly tradition. If I could give 6 stars I would. Completely exceeds our standards. It was a little hard to find our specific cabin, but we love how secluded it is. read more

We stayed in the Sunrise Guesthouse from June 10-13 and we couldn't have asked for a better start to our Pacific Northwest vacation. We never felt like we were staying "in someone else's space". The place was welcoming, comfortable, relaxing and completely private. The amenities are amazing! Personal hot tub and sauna outside your door, the cleanest most even cooking grill we've ever seen in a vacation rental! Everything is so well maintained and cared for and it definitely shows. It has been a very long time since we've been able to unplug and go off the grid and we took advantage of it during our stay. This was the cutest, coziest and charming cabin to stay in! My boyfriend and I came to celebrate our 6-month anniversary and wanted to get away and spend quality time together. We went snowshoeing at one of the parks at Mt. Rainier and were stoked to get in our private hot tub and sit by the gas fireplace in this darling cabin. The bed was super comfy, we had matching robes and slippers, a perfect amount of space and the coolest dog to play with. Great little place close to Mt. Rainier. Cozy, private and makes a perfect little basecamp for adventures at Mt. Rainier. Each unit has it's own hot tub, which is perfect after a day of hiking. We had the pleasure of staying in the Rainier cabin over the 4th of July weekend. As we arrived to the office, Dugan the sweetest, yet playful German Shepard was there to greet us in all his splendor. We were then greeted by Carol and her family. After filling out the paperwork, we headed on over to the cabin. Carol gave us a little tour and showed us how to work the hot tub, and other features of the cabin. She then left us to get settled in, but did let us know that if we needed anything to let her and or her family know. The cabin was very cozy, clean and just right for what we needed. It was secluded enough and pretty private, we never really saw anyone except the proprietors on our way to the park. There was no stove but we knew that when we booked the cabin. There was a propane grill and we enjoyed grilling our food. There was a mini fridge was under the counter, but it was enough to hold our groceries. We also brought a cooler to store drinks and food. The kitchenette had a microwave, coffee maker and toaster. It was well stocked with utensils, salt and pepper, dish soap, a sponge, cups, and other things. We were pleasantly surprised. The bathroom had a dual shower head which we thought was nice. The bathroom had soaps, lotion and shampoo and well stocked with towels. There was also a hairdryer too! The bed was pretty comfortable. I know we slept very well after a day of exploring Mt Rainier and hiking. The park entrance is 5 miles away! So close! There was a TV, but no cable and we thought that was awesome, it is good to unplug from the world here and there. There are DVDs for you to borrow from the main office if you wish. There were a few board games, and puzzles as well. I brought a book to read or was relaxing with Dugan. The hot tub was very nice and a welcome site to soak our sore achy muscles and of course to unwind. Nothing like libations and a hot tub to relax in, under the summer sky. We had the best time here at Almost Paradise. We can't wait to go back. read more

They truly have thought of everything. My wife and I went to Almost Paradise to relax for our anniversary. It did not disappoint. The cabin was very nice and clean. It came complete with a full kitchen, laundry room, gas fireplace and fully enclosed hot tub. It rained during our stay, so the roof covering the patio was great. The area is very quiet and off the busy main roads, so traffic throughout the day is minimal. There was no internet access or cable out at the cabin, but we were not looking for that anyway. WiFi is available at the main house if you require it that much. Overall an outstanding time and well worth every penny. read more

This was a perfect get-a-way for our 20th wedding anniversary. We had our own private hot tub and sauna that warmed us up in the low temperatures of winter. The sky was full of stars and the days were sunny and clear. Mt. Rainier is a lovely sight to see up close and personal. The cabin was warm, clean, and relaxing. Our host and her dog, Doogan, were very friendly and hospitable. My sister told us about her experience for her one night stay here. We intend to return again for another celebration. One of the best places i have ever stayed. It was extremely clean and everything we needed was there. We also felt that the price was great. Just be aware that the paradise and sunrise guesthouses are not separate cabins but all connected to the house. This isn't clear on the website, but we weren't disappointed. read more

My husband and I just spent the weekend there and did not want to leave. Carol was so friendly. Meeting Dugan, her German Shepard, was awesome. We were so sad to leave this morning. We stayed at the Sunrise Cabin with the sauna and Jacuzzi. Loved both and after hiking all day it was so nice to come back and relax in both. The bed was so comfy and the well stocked kitchen was amazing. We stopped for groceries on the way up. Comfy robes, slippers and fresh soft towels were so nice. The bed was so comfy and loved the handmade quilt. Carol had tons of movies to choose from, something for everyone. It was quiet, peaceful and much needed for us. The basket of breakfast goodies and snacks in the fridge were a great touch. Loved that we didn't have to worry about salt and pepper, cookware, plates and utensils. The kitchen was well equipped. The shower had a double shower head which is nice and relaxing. Theirs books to read, magazines and games to play. Hubby beat me at checkers. Loved having a gas grill and a fire ring complete w/ an outdoor picnic table. Carol really gives her guests privacy and you definitely do not have that feeling of being right up on someone. Cannot wait to go back. Hubby and I are going to try a different cabin next time. We were so sad to leave. Best romantic place to stay by far!!!! read more
