Smoked brisket, corn bread and homemade coleslaw

Definitely one of my favorite places in town here in Patterson. If you have a chance to stop by for a wholesome meal, I highly recommend it. It is well situated next to Highway 5, and their trio is a great option if you want to try all their meats. They also offer a variety of seasonings, including spices and barbecue sauces. The portions are very generous, and the meats are slow cooked for hours, making them perfectly tender and flavorful. It is also a great place to watch games and host family events. Definitely recommend it.

    OG tri tip dip.

This place has ok food but very expensive. You have to order sides separate from entree. Everything is homemade. The ranch has too much garlic. The bbq sauces are good. Had the tri tip sandwich for $21.00. No sides included. Just the sandwich and there was barely any meat on it. House salad was also very small for $8 and some of the spring mix was welted.

One of the few non-fast food options right off the freeway exit. The staff are all very kind people. It's hard to find good BBQ in California, and unfortunately this place wasnt it either. I ordered their combo plate with brisket, burnt ends, and a side of mac. Not a whole lot of flavors going on there. I didn't add any sauce but there should be seasoning already... The burnt ends were either too burnt or lacked that nice crispy texture. The meat used for the brisket was too fatty so everything felt mushy and greasy. My wife ordered her own mac and cheese with meat addon. She also asked for brisket - interestingly they were tough and had different texture than mine. A lot of the old reviews have said this place had gone down hill in the last few years. Hope they bounce back!

Customer servicexwasntbthe greatest when I called they didn't sound like they wanted to help. I was told to go on website. I went on to order I called to ask about the family meals apparently somes of the large sides come in medium size not large. I ordered the chicken meal chicken dry no flavor not the same as first time we went. Brussel sprouts dry and burnt, green beans still have the ends on them. Food bland and dry overall and order was ready sooner than was stated wondering if the chicken was just sitting there. Salad didn't have alot of toppings and last time it had onions and cheese. Disappointed

Wow, just, wow! First, the service was excellent. We were a group of six with lots of modifications and our waitress smiled the entire time. She was terrific. It's a big place, but we were tucked in a corner which felt cozy. The food! We ordered three starters, all delicious, but the Brussels Arugula chips were mind blowing. The combo was completely surprising and our Brussels hating pal had seconds! This is the types of dish one could get obsessed with.we ordered one just to take home. They have something for everyone, cauliflower steak sando for our vegetarian, BBQ two way for our carnivore, delicious Mac and cheese side for our light eater, and more. Well worth stopping at on your way down the 5.

    Mac n cheese + brisket

This was a quick lunch stop during our road trip, hoping for something a lot better than fast food. I ordered a mac n cheese ($9) with a brisket add on ($6). When it came, I was immediately disappointed when I saw it. It looked like a pretty plain pasta dish where I barely even saw any of the brisket :( Most other BBQ restaurants I've been to would usually load a big stack of meat on top of the mac. My husband ordered a meat combo and gave me some of his brisket out of pity. We noticed a big difference in the consistency of the brisket between the one that came with the mac n cheese and the meat combo. The pieces that came with the mac were a lot smaller and drier and definitely not the same quality. I had no complaints about the service, but I don't think the food was worth returning for.

Food is ok but service is extremely slow. The only dish that was a turn off was the chili green beans. They came lukewarm to almost cold to the table. The sauces were decent and meats had good smoke. The star of the show were the onion rings. They were crispy yet not greasy. Slow service cost this place a star and serving anything cold that should be hot will cost another star. Based on this visit, Almond Wood gets a 2.5 to 3 stars.

Giant connect 4 while we wait

After a hot day at the Apricot Fiesta in downtown Patterson, the SO and I wanted to go someplace outside of the festival to avoid festival prices on food. After a quick Yelp search, Almond Wood seemed to be the only sit-down restaurant outside of the festival radius that was open and intriguing to us. It was also highly recommended by a friend and coworker of the SO's. Located right off the I-5 in the same plaza as the Patterson Cafe, Almond Wood looks to be the next new date night spot for locals and pit-stoppers alike. The inside is very open and airy, and their waiting room is unusually large? But it's got giant Connect 4 and foosball to help pass the time. We came on a Saturday afternoon and waited about 20 minutes until we were seated. Upon sitting down, we were met with an extensive menu from BYO (Build Your Own) pasta bowls, to BBQ, to pizza. We ordered: - Green tea w/ passionfruit - super refreshing with a hint of passionfruit, and definitely unsweetened. So if you prefer your tea sweet, I recommend to ask for sugar or pick a different drink. - Crazy spuds - or "Animal fries" per our receipt (I guess to avoid a lawsuit from In-n-Out). Definitely a burger-flavored fry dish and delicious. - 2-Protein combo - we went with the Angus brisket and Angus tri tip with a side of mac n cheese and corn bread. Highly recommend the corn bread and both meats. Mac and cheese is standard, and super tasty still (and huge portion!). We also received all the BBQ sauces they offer: Cali Gold (mustard based. YUM), Sweet Heat (spicy. YUM), Apricot Chipotle (sweet, tangy.), and Smokey BBQ (standard, meh). - Side of large onion rings - for $10 you cannot beat this. Came with a honey mustard sauce that was really tangy creamy when mixed with their house-made? ranch. Their ranch was up there with Wingstop's. - Papa Joe - good, but didn't really taste the hot honey as advertised on the menu All of this to say our bill came out to under $80 (before tip)! Service was also great. We never felt rushed and our drinks were constantly filled. I also loved how everyone that came by our table was super nice and conversational. Definitely great pricing for the amount of food we received. That alone has us wanting to come back again really soon! Hopefully some day they will serve cocktails (it is wine and beer only right now). PS. They have daily specials, and Tuesdays happen to be BOGO pizzas. Get on it!

Talk about a "find"! Traveling thru and we thought we would check this out or go back to a fast food option. Sign on the road says Apricot Wood. Look for the big BBQ on the building-on the door it says Almond Wood. Am I glad we took the chance to try this place! While sometimes you are kind of in an area where you find something that's "not bad for what was available ", I would travel specifically to this place for a meal! The burnt ends were fall apart and the velvet smoke sauce was so smooth and a perfect match. The sandwiches were on a bread that was luscious and the taste of the meat was great. The side of slaw was a nice fresh addition. Can't wait to return to try the other BBQ or pizza options. Then there's the pastas and so many things I'm now excited to try! Pulling up to what seemed a little hole in the wall few shops became a place we are excited to return to!

Food was actually really good, service was great BUT THE RESTAURANT SMELLS LIKE SEWAGE. Please fix this!

Nice plate of real good bbq, bread and slaw.

I had a 2-meat plate with ribs and brisket plus slaw and garlic bread. I would order the same again. Good portions of food. Restaurant was clean, food was hot, sauces are good, nice smoke taste and moist meat. Atmosphere and layout is unique but it doesn't matter. Service and follow up was slow.

The restaurant itself feels like an establishment that has seen a few restaurants come and go. It's not extremely well lit or heated, not sure about the hot summer months. It's a mom and pop, not a chain restaurant. It's also not easily identifiable as a Chinese restaurant except for the sign above the door. We were looking for a place to meet up while on the road and this was it. The owner is very nice, it's a family run place, they work hard. I get the feeling that they need more business, I did see a lot of togo orders float out the door, but our party was the only sit down party while we were there. The food was good. There were 8 of us, so I ordered 3 appetizers for us to snack on while we waited for the rest of our food. We had the egg rolls, wontons and the pot stickers. Nothing lasted long, before we knew it, the food was on the table. I know I'm a spoiled San Francisco self proclaimed foodie/yelp critic, so take my review whatever way you want to based on that admission. I'll just say that based on where this place is located it's good enough and I can't be really picky. I'll also probably never be back, purely based on location. Nothing would stop me from returning. If for no other reason, to support a hard working restaurant owner. The food was good enough, not to be compared with high end San Francisco or Bay area fancy chinese food. That would be unfair. I had some general chicken, it was sticky and had a slight spice. One person in our party had War Wonton soup and thought it to be on the sweet side. The menu has a wide range of dishes, I'm sure if you're a local you must have a favorite dish, if I lived near this place I would try a bunch of different dishes. In the end we all left in a good mood.
