Thought I should finally leave a review for this place! Discovered Alma a few years ago and the rest is history. I'm not the type of person to get my eyebrows done regularly (maybe once every two months), but whenever I need my eyebrows threaded I come to this spot. All the staff are super sweet, efficient & professional, just totally lovely people through and through (with a lot of knowledge about their products!) Plus the service itself is just phenomenal; I can usually just call in and book an appointment the same day. I've even run late a few times and they've still managed to fit me in. Now that I'm moving away from Toronto, I realize how spoiled I've been with this spa. Don't know if I'll find a place even close to its level of excellence elsewhere. Cheers to the years! read more

A couple months ago, I did a web search to find a spa that offers natural / non-toxic options for nail and skin treatments in my neighbourhood. Alma Natural Spa came up, and I am so glad that I have found them. The time earmarked for each treatments is sufficient for the service to be done well. The massages with the manicures and pedicures are just long enough to be refreshing and relaxing, and the pressure is good as well. I have sensitive skin, and am prone to hyperpigmentation, but I haven't had any issues with the products being used. I am a shy person, and while the ladies providing the service are cordial, they don't talk so much as to create anxiety for shy people like me. :) Thank you Alma Spa, you are a great find in my neighbourhood! read more

Alma is a like a quick nail salon- pop in for a 15 minute massage, facial, or a full manicure and/or pedicure. But, unlike the salons where all the aestheticians have to wear face masks to keep their lungs safe, the products here are all natural. Seriously, if you think about it, every little bit helps, right? I just watched this movie at the TIFF about how breast cancer's Pink Ribbon (Pink Ribbon, Inc.) has been co-opted by a bunch of companies that might actually be contributing the the breast cancer epidemic. Beauty products we use everyday have known carcinogens. Argh! So, I've searching for safe, nontoxic products on Skin Deep's website. But, there is nothing in Canada, until now. I just walked in for a lip-plumping facial and walked out relaxed. Wed is wine night after all- Ahhhh! Tea is also served/sold. Candles smell amazing, as does the lip polish and most of it is made in-house with no harmful ingredients. I'll be back in my new favorite 'hood. read more

I like that all the products used here is all natural. I love that they serve you tea while you get pampered. It's a little pricey if you dont get a good aesthetician. I got a mani and pedi, she didnt clean up my cuticle well. I had to tell her a few times she missed a spot and im not really that picky. I got home and realized my index finger has an obvious flap of cuticle sticking out. Not happy with the work i got. I do not recommend Natasha, nice girl but messy work. She didnt wrap my feet properly and when i got home Pedi is all smudged. Disappointed at alma for the first time. read more

I went with my mother for a manicure and pedicure. I like how this spa uses natural products without harmful chemicals. I find it pricey for what you get compared to some other places around. I was frustrated to find that all my top three choices for nail polish they no longer had, despite having swatches for them. The lady that did my manicure and pedicure was excellent. The lady that did my mom's manicure and pedicure seemed to be new and less knowledgeable. The manicure turned out nice but only lasted about a week, before chipping badly. The pedicure is still going Strong. Overall I recommend this place, as I would go again. If you have your heart stuck on a specific Color I suggest you buy it and bring it in to ensure it is available. read more

This place is really the best. These ladies know what they're doing. The space itself is beautiful and calm, with really comfy pedicure chairs. They have soft heated neck pad things, and tea, and while your nails are drying they offer you a quick (and complimentary!) shoulder massage. Don't turn it down -- it's divine. I took my mom there for the holiday special mani/pedi, which was even more reasonably priced than it already would've been on any other day. (I say I took her, but I just found the place and made the appointments; she paid. Ahahaha muahahaha the joys of coming home for the holidays.) The mani-pedi takes about an hour, maybe a little less or a little more depending. My mom's nails were a wreck, and her hands were killing her from all the holiday cooking & washing of dishes. She was convinced a manicure would be wasted on her. IT WAS NOT. She was the happiest camper ever, plus she is largely opposed to bright colors and they managed to talk her into a gorgeous deep red for her toes which she of course was ultimately delighted by. She got her hands shea-buttered, her nails oiled, everything clipped and filed and buffed into beauty and health and relaxation. They have a mid-sized range of nail colors, from two different lines. One is water-based, and can actually improve the health of your nails over time; the other isn't necessarily beneficial but certainly won't do the damage that other polishes do. No acrylics offered here, and definitely no "shellack," so if that's what you're looking for, stay away. OR do yourself a favor and come here instead. You'll leave relaxed with tips on vitamins and nails you won't have to soak in paint-thinner or get professionally removed with a drill. I could say more, but this review is already kind of ridiculously long, so I'll cut myself off here. We are now dedicated followers. Come here! Keep this place alive and kickin! Oh, and one last thing -- it's actually located just a tiny bit south of Yonge & Eglinton. If you get off the subway at Eglinton, or park in one of those handy lots, it's like a five minute walk down Yonge. Yes. Resounding yes! read more

I went to this spa a few weeks after reading the reviews on here for a pedicure and to get my brows done. It certainly did not disappoint. Everyone was nice and professional. I hate going to a place of business and seeing the people working there being unprofessional (talking/gossiping about other people...rude on the phone...interrupting people while they are working to talk about their date last nite..etc..etc) You won't find that unprofessionalism here! The spa is so cute inside (cute in a grown up way..not like a 5yr old princess party kinda cute). It's clean and organized. You get a choice of free tea and they ask you if you want a nice warm neck/shoulder massage pillow-y thing-a-mi-jig (if getting a pedicure). Erin did a fabulous job on my feet - quick but not so fast you were left wondering if your feet were even soaking in the water! Def will go back here again. read more

I moved to Toronto a little over a month ago, and my eyebrows were in need of some TLC. I was just strolling along Yonge Street today when I found Alma, and I decided to pop in to see if they could fit me in this afternoon. The woman at the front desk (maybe the owner?) was an absolute sweetheart, and set me up with an appointment just an hour later. Kim did my eyebrows, and she was fantastic. She was very precise, but also got the job done quickly and as painlessly as I've ever had. I haven't looked at prices of other salons, but for $17, I was more than happy with the value for the money. The salon environment is so clean and fresh, and I felt immediately relaxed when I walked in. I'm sad that they don't offer hair services (yet), as I'm still looking for a great stylist in T.O., but I'll definitely go back to Alma for a nail service or a massage session. I was looking for a natural spa around my area and my friends suggested me to go to Alma Natural Spa. They told me it was a wonderful and relaxing place to go. I went there for a mani pedi and a facial. Paresha was really friendly. She did my nails and my facial with great effort. The place was very clean and really luxurious. They even had some natural products like body butter. The best part was all the products were natural and non toxic. I had a great experience. I recommend this place to others. read more

Ahh.. just had a relaxing massage here. It wasn't with the RMT; I just wanted a good old inexpensive foot rub and scalp massage to help me get through the last few weeks of pregnancy. It was good that I actually fell asleep a few times! The only thing that woke me up was my own snoring (x4). Everyone in the spa was friendly. The music was nice and relaxing. The place looked clean. The only thing that threw me off just a tiny bit was that it's a 'natural' spa, with shelves of nail polish. Highly recommended. Great staff, quiet environment (they played Norah Jones for instance), and everything is non-toxic and safe. The prices are higher, yes, $35 for a pedicure seems like a lot, but it is worth it when your health is taken into consideration. Decent but overpriced, nothing special. I went here for the "Lavender Luxury Pedicure", it was fine but it didn't blow me away. Even though I select "be gentle" on their information sheet under "cuticles" the girl doing my toes was still a little hard on my cuticles, it hurt a couple times. I wasn't very impressed with the paraffin alternative, sorry real paraffin is way better it makes a lovely soft mask around your feet, this was more like a warm sheet it didn't fully cover my feet and it wasn't as soft and moldable as paraffin. After my pedicure I was also under the dryer fans for what felt like forever and when I got home the polish on my toes had some visible squishing, clearly they hadn't been fully dried despite 20 minutes under the fan. They really need some dryer spray or something, or maybe these natural polishes just take way longer to dry. I think most of the problems weren't based on the service but based on the natural products. If natural products are the most important thing to you I'm sure this place is nice but I just found they didn't perform as well. At least the nail polish and the paraffin. It's too much of a step down for me. For the price I expected better overall it was just a mediocre pedicure but for the price of a top notch one. read more

I was very happy with the mani/pedi I got this week! Usually my polish lasts maybe 24 hours before showing signs of wear and tear but I'm 3 days in and it's still looking perfect. The staff were professional and friendly and the music was awesome - no Enya whatsoever! read more

Visited the Alma natural spa today. The place is located at the mid town of Toronto. The staff there is very welcoming, lovely and helpful. I had Mani, pedi and facial. The service provided was excellent and relaxing. Along with they even offer various kinds of tea at the place while getting yourself pampered. The key feature is that the products used in all the services are natural and non toxic to the skin. They even sell some natural products like cleanser, lotion, lip balm and many more. Had a great experience in the first visit. I would go there again often for the services. I would recommend to everyone who loves to use natural products. read more

1. SERVICE: Always friendly, always fantastic. The receptionist offers me tea when I walk in and get settled. They have a nice assortment of loose leaf teas, and you can get them iced, or latte-d. Pareesha is a doll, super friendly and always distracting me during waxes. She's very detail oriented and does a bang-up job. I feel very comfortable in her hands, and I always walk away happy. I've had my nails, eyebrows (threading), and waxes done by her. All were 10/10 experiences. 2. ATMOSPHERE: Warm and cozy. Bonus points for purple decor because I just love purple. There is no tv or loud chattering. It's a very spa-like atmosphere and a huge difference from the hustle and bustle outside. 3. OTHER: They use natural products. I got the Lavender Luxury Pedicure and thought it was just ok. As someone else said in their review, it wasn't the service but the products they use. My esthetician was great, really personable and even though I was late, I still was able to get the full treatment and she did a great job on my toe polish...they look great. I gave 3 stars because it didn't necessarily feel like a "luxury" pedicure. The salt scrub was actually too course for my liking and the natural wax (paraffin alternative) they used didn't seem to penetrate the skin except to leave an oily layer. Also, after coming home (only 15 mins later) my feet were incredibly dry and I was expecting them to have a finer finish on the underside. I've had experiences where my heels were dry and after a treatment my feet felt like butter, this was not one of those times. Seems as if the tools used at the shop are possibly sub par as well as their products. In short, skip the frills and get the basic mani/pedi. read more

There's a reason why this place gets such good reviews. I've been meaning to try them for some time because I liked that they use non-toxic products (I didn't even realize that was a possibility with polish) but didn't want to spend the extra cash. Well I finally tried it (went with the Lavender Luxury manicure) and it was totally worth it! I find the space really cute and cozy as well which further added to my experience. Peggy did my nails (5 days ago) and I can't believe that there are still no chips! I would expect that form Shellac but not from this non toxic polish. I have to say this was the best manicure I've ever received. I'm not very chatty during my appointments and almost always prefer to zone out. This was the first time in ages that I happily engaged in conversation and that's because Peggy was so easy and interesting to talk to. I highly recommend this place! read more

Small, pleasant, laid-back atmosphere. I liked the colours I chose for both fingers and toes, although the selection is smaller because they use only selected lines that fit their non-toxic model. I was disappointed to learn that their massages are not RMT, therefore cannot be reimbursed by insurance, and I hope that they are soon able to offer that service. read more

Although the prices are a bit more than your average quick mani/pedi... the service, products and atmosphere are all worth it. It was my first time at Alma Natural Spa about a month ago and it was such a pleasant experience. I went for a wax and pedicure. It is a quaint and clean facility. Along with your treatment at the spa, they start your visit by serving you tea from their menu (where they have some great options or the tea of the month). I had pumpkin spice tea. The people working there are really friendly and made my experience pleasant and extremely comfortable. What I like about the spa most is that the focus on natural products, which don't contain some of those harsh chemicals we smell at normal nail polish salon. It is a little pricier, but definitely worth it want to go with better products. They even sell some natural products made in-house and provide a disposal bin so you can bring in your old old nail polish! read more

It's a nice place but their services were mediocre. I also had a terrible experience when I booked a threading service and had to wait 30 minutes because the aesthetician was still providing a facial treatment to the client before me. When I finally got in for my threading, the aesthetician did not apologize. Instead she insinuated it was my fault for booking my service so close to the other client's facial. This was such a ridiculous comment! I book online, so how am I supposed to know what service the aesthetician is providing before mine? Is it really my job to ensure that my appointment will not overlap with someone else's facial?? read more

I had a facial here a couple of months ago and was quite pleased with the service. I'd say its the best facial I've ever had - far, far surpasses the popular Pure & Simple service, which I found quite lacking) The basic facial with extractions runs around $75 or $80, which is the standard price for Toronto spas. What I liked about the service here is how much attention was paid to the extractions. Its the first time I've ever had a facial where I saw a noticeable difference in my skin in the days after. I love this place! The space is lovely, bright, clean, and relaxing, and the staff are just wonderful. The perfect blend of professional yet friendly. These ladies know how to make you feel special, cups of tea (or even a glass of wine from time to time), lovely heated neck pillows to remove all your tension, personal attention and more. I wanted so much to like this spa. Love the concept and the staff are very nice. Three bad manicures in a row and I won't be going back. On two occasions I received service from new and part time technicians- because I'm only free on weekends - and the work was messy, painful and totally unacceptable. Today they recognized how bad the manicure was. Redid it. Still awful. Cuticles cut and inflamed. Nails painfully short. Can't believe I paid $50 for short ugly nails. I've already removed the polish. Just trying to forget the entire experience. read more

I stumbled on this little gem yesterday. The fact that it offers all-natural products makes it a welcome addition in my 'hood, which is chock-full of salons that reek of fake nail glue and churn customers in/out as fast as they can in less than ideal conditions. Alma Natural Quick Spa offered a lovely pedicure and I was particularly intrigued by the all-natural nail polish. The colour selections were great and modern and Peggy the proprietor delivered a really wonderful cup of earl grey which I think is even fair trade. Yay! The pedi was also a fair trade price, but not radically above the factory farm prices up the street, and is definitely worth it...Not just for the spectacular service, ambiance, the beverages, the products but also because of the absolutely divine shoulder and head massage my esthetician gave me as my toes were drying! Nothing was hurried. Take your time or not, but you'll definitely enjoy. read more
