The worst upholstery! She is a scammer. I hired her because I didn't see her bad reviews until after she had my furniture over 2 months. She took my money and didn't refund it nor did she finish the sectional couch. She didn't return all my pillows or the material I purchase. she blocked my number when I called to retrieve all of my materials and pillows. The couch was poorly sewn. She didn't replace the lining as discussed. I sued her and she didn't show up in court. I received a default judgment but haven't received my money. DON'T HIRE HER! read more

I am 80 years old and not very good at using the computer. My shortcoming. If I was, I may have read the previous reviews about Ally's Upholstery and Sewing Shop. She has scammed me out of nearly $2,000.00. The previous reviews are right on! She pulled all the same "garbage" with me. Took my furniture, took my money, tried to say my furniture was in much worse shape than it was in order to charge me more. Said she would refund my deposit but has not. I have filed a complaint with Hillsborough County Consumer Protection and am waiting to see if they can or have any authority to resolve my gripe. The results they get will dictate where I go from there. Very likely Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office and a senior advocacy agency. I will let you decide but be forewarned. I am considering legal action. I purchased a very expensive sectional in 2012 from Scan Design so it needed to be tightened and re-dyed after 11 years. I requested her services and she explained that it would be $1225 and I needed to place a $600 deposit. She seemed experienced from my conversation with her so I was okay to send her the money so that she could purchase the dye.. After some time, I began to look for reviews (which I should have done better research) and found someone who stated that she was a scam. ...This worried me because I had sent her $600 and there was no activity on my project and no communication. 2 weeks went by and I called her for a status update. She mentioned that the dye products had just arrived late and she would be picking up my sectional. Another week went by and after several phone texts, she and her husband came over with a Uhaul to pick up my sectional. She stated that she would have it completed in 2 weeks. ....1 month went by and so I found her address and drove to her house with my wife and confronted her. She stated that the leather was old and had ripped so she was going to replace the leather. I explained that the leather was in 1sq ft patches and she said that was not a problem and that she could make it identical. She showed me a piece of vinyl and I declined to have that as a replacement as this was fine leather furniture. She said that she understood and told me that in a few days, her workers would install the 12" inch pieces and be finished that week. ...1 month went by and before Thanksgiving, I explained that I needed my sectional as I had family coming to stay with me. The day before Thanksgiving she sent me a photo of someones hand with an injury and said she could not deliver it and no promises on delivery date....so I was out without my sectional and nowhere for my guests to sit. Another 10 days went by and she said I didn't answer her text to accept my sectional. I then texted her and said I will be home for the delivery. When the sectional was delivered. It was Vinyl! Not Leather! It was a complete different design that did not match my pillows and ottoman that went with it. So now I have mismatched...low quality, and she ruined the wooden base...the seams are terrible. The material is overlapping an very unprofessional. My Scan Design sectional looked better before I sent it to her. Now it looks like a garbage piece. Every time I questioned her activity, she blamed me as if I was at fault. She stated that the leather was old and it ripped when she was stretching it. Then the excuse was that I didn't want to pay a lot which I NEVER said. I have just now read the review by John Y., and I wish to heaven I would have seen it before I hired this person. I honestly don't know how she lives with herself. The service isn't not good, it's beyond horrible. He was out $600, I wasn't so lucky; try $3200.00. She was supposed to recover my sectional, a chair and an ottoman. I had originally selected all of my materials and was going to order them, however, she convinced me (she is a really good talker and seems so sweet and knowledgeable) to let her do the ordering. I paid her $1500 up front and she said it would be a couple of weeks. Okay, I get that, but then I also wanted the pillows on the sectional recovered and this was a different material, so she also ordered that for $408. (why didn't I request or better still demand to see the purchase receipt?) Anyway, she takes the pillows, she has them for a month and I don't have one completed pillow, in the meantime she comes and takes all the seat cushions on my sectional as well as the seat and back cushion on my chair. Oh yes, I give her another $1,500 she says which will be for half the labor. Hindsight is a killer, why oh why did I give her more money. She never contacted me, I always has to contact her and ask about the status on my furniture; however, she always had some excuse to push it out another week. I have now started to feel quite uneasy about the whole business, and my daughter said Mom, this person is a scammer. Great, she then said I'm going to call her and tell her we are going to the police if she doesn't get in touch with you today by 3pm. Well, I did get a response and she said she had too recondition the foam on my cushions. Really?? how does one recondition foam? Anyway, I agreed to yet another week and I did so by text so I would have proof of our conversation. I then sent her another text and told her although I agreed to an additional week for the cushions, I expected all my pillows by the end of the week. I did receive my cushions at the end of that week, however, again it wasn't without contacting her several times to inquire when she was going to bring them. All said, she had them for 2 months. Since I have no cushions for the chair or sectional, my living room has been unusable for almost 2 months now, it's chaos, and I can't sleep and I am constantly worried about the entire matter. How do I know if she ever even ordered the material for the chair and the sectional since I don't have any finished product on either one. Okay, I'm done--I sent her a text and told her that I was done waiting and that I wanted all my property back along with the material that I had paid for. I wondered how she was even going to face me, well she didn't, I received a text at 6 am stating that she had delivered all my things (I was still asleep). Sure enough, she had piled everything in front of my garage door. I don't know how long it is going to take me to get over this entire nightmare, and of course I now have dismantled cushions and the material, but still an unusable sectional. I can not warn you enough to not believe this smooth talking woman and to give her money. She needs to be in jail. read more
