I had to cancel my appointment 45 hours before arriving with no questions asked they charged me $292 for service I did not receive. They said that's their policy that I was never made aware of. Also, they stored my credit card information in their computer system without my permission. I never agree to anyone having my credit or debit card information stored in their system. I was shocked and intimidated into agreeing to their rules because I thought they would charge me anyway since they had the credit card information. I have disputed it with my credit card company. Deceptive practice and fraudulent charges! Please be aware! My wife made an appointment with this salon the other day over the phone for about 40 minutes later, and they required a credit card to hold the spot. When she arrived on time (or, according to them, "2 minutes late"), they refused service--even though the stylist was available. They also refused to reschedule and charged her the full price of $55. The real issue? Informed consent. If they had clearly stated over the phone about their policy of canceling appointments over a minute or two delay while still charging full price, she would have never booked with them. This is deceptive and unethical. But it gets worse--outright fraud. When my wife disputed the $55 charge, rather than addressing it professionally with the credit card company, they fraudulently charged her card $70 three weeks later without my wife's authorization. She disputed again, and another unauthorized charge of $85 appeared three weeks after that. These unauthorized credit card charges are fraudulent. This salon operates unethically, unprofessionally, and potentially illegally--both in how they handle appointments and in their blatant misuse of customers' credit card information. We are still disputing these charges and dealing with unnecessary stress and wasted time, and want to share our experiences with potential customers so people can be aware and make an informed choice. read more

They will charge you the full amount if you arrive more than 10 mins late WITHOUT TELLING YOU THAT BEFOREHAND ("no-show" does not equal to being late for 10 minutes!! )Apparently the stylist can do a haircut if you arrive 10 mins late but can't do it if you come 12 mins late. Walked in and was not greeted, I had to approach one of the stylists after about 10 minutes of sitting there uncomfortably. Granted I was about 5 mins late, but I waited 30 minutes sitting there supposedly checked in..... then I had to approach another stylist asking about what was going on and apparently the esthetician took another client because I was a couple minutes late which is my bad, but a little bit more transparency and courtesy from the staff would've been nice since I was just sitting there for 30+ minutes confused.... The esthetician was nice and apologized however she then ripped off an entire layer of my skin under my eyebrow. I don't even know where to go from here it looks horrible, the whole reason I got my eyebrows done in the first place was to make my face look a bit better and now it's 1000x worse and I'm going to have to explain this to everybody for the next however many weeks it takes to heal. I just want to cry at this point, wasn't charged and got 20% next visit, but this was the worst experience I've ever had at a salon and I should've taken the 30+ minute wait as a sign to run. I've been getting my eyebrows waxed elsewhere for years and have NEVER had ANYTHING like this happen. Everytime something goes wrong she'd gaslit me and I'd start crying. if she would've ever took accountability for her actions as a hairstylist, I would've never cried. but she didn't. I purchased a voucher on the "Got Spot" and was excited to visit a new place and get a manicure, pedicure, facial, and lash lift before attending a wedding. I was able to make an appointment two days in advance. The experience itself was pleasant and Korey and Cindy did a good job and were enjoyable to talk to. The location is in downtown Champaign, so be prepared to pay for metered parking. The lobby and front area is nice and calming with the natural lighting which seems like a good atmosphere to get your hair cut. All of the other services are performed in the back. They sell clothes in the front as well. I was relatively pleased with the four services (hence the 3-stars instead of 2); however, I was disappointed because the manicure chipped in less than 24 hours without any wear and tear, and when I promptly emailed about this, I did not receive a response even after attaching a photo. I should have called but they were closed and didn't get a chance to call again. Normally, it would not be a big deal but I was getting the extra pampering for a wedding so it was disappointing to have chipped nails for the occasion. This is not the fault of Korey (she did a good job) but it would have been nice to be able to come back in to get it fixed. I likely will not return unfortunately. read more

Best Hair Salon in town. I will never get tired of recommending Allure. Every person I have recommended it too has absolutely loved it and they always surprise with their services. First of all, all the ladies are professional, nice, and listen to what you want. They constantly check in to make sure you are happy and go out of their way to ensure you are satisfied with your service. For instance, one day I was in a time crunch and two stylists worked on me to make sure I would make it on time. Another time, I had to work and they were extra accommodating to help me work on my laptop while styling my hair. The products they used are high quality and your hair will thank you. My hair always feels healthy, smooth, and smells amazing. I always get compliments when I come here and I am always happy to recommend it. If that wasn't great enough already they offer you a coffee, tea, water and some treats when you come in. Additionally, they are always playing the best music. I recently took my boyfriend for a man's haircut and they did such a great job. Overall, an amazing experience. I went here back in August and it was the worst salon experience I've ever had, and I've been to some shitty places. My hair still looks awful and I can't afford to get it fixed. I went there for an eyebrow waxing and to get my hair color fixed, I wanted to go from a dark brown to a light-medium brown. After the waxing was done I had to wait over 30 minutes for the stylist to get there. Didn't apologize for being late or anything which made me annoyed. The eyebrow appointment ended early and my hair appointment was scheduled for 30 minutes after that one, but she was still late after the official appointment time started. For the color, she did a bleach bath (a less harmful way to bleach your hair) until my hair was BLONDE again (I had bleached hair from a year ago under my original color). She then used a brown dye over, only it came off as a REALLY DARK brown. The bleach application was streaky and uneven and it showed through the dye because she didn't bleach my roots, so she started to redye it without telling me what she was doing. I should've just gotten out of the chair right then and there and left. Because she dyed it twice, in the end I had hair that looked DARK BROWN. IT LOOKED LIKE WHAT I STARTED WITH. She also said "Do you want a little evening out at the bottom and on your bangs?" and I said "Sure if you think it'll help" and she charged me a full $50 haircut??? That's bullshit and you know it. Change your damn pricing to factor in the amount of hair that's actually cut off. She didn't even cut off a CENTIMETER of hair. She also recommended a new shampoo and conditioner without telling me the price (and prices weren't listed anywhere) so I just assumed it was typical liter size price so about $40 each. After I bought them I saw I the receipt that they were like $75 and $90 each. WTF!!! Why weren't the products labeled with the prices? In the end the dye job was $150 (since I got it bleached and it was "double processed" without my knowledge), the trim was $50, and shampoo/conditioner was about $165 for 2 liters of product. They didn't charge me for the eyebrow waxing but I doubt that was an accident. After it was all done, my hair looked like a dull black/brown color that looked GRAY in sunlight from the bleached hair underneath. I asked the stylist "Um is this gonna fade at all? This is really dark and it isn't what I wanted" and she said "Oh yeah, the dye pulled darker." THEN WHY DID YOU USE THAT BRAND OF DYE AND SPECIFIC SHADE?! WHAT THE FUCK! If you're a hairstylist you should know that a lot of brown shades pull darker on bleached hair!!!! Her response upset me too. Instead of offering to fix it another day or even being like "Sorry I couldn't get it the exact color you wanted," she seemed agitated; the whole process took at least 3 hours and she was probably tired of me but I honestly don't care. We could've split it into multiple days. I'm paying for a service and if I say that I want a certain color and you say you can do it, I expect to get it done and done right. She also used demi permanent dyes, which means the colors don't last as long as semipermanent or permanent dyes. The first time I washed my hair a few days after getting it done, SO MUCH of the dye came out even though I wasn't using warm water. It did that for the next 3 washes at least. I eventually just faded all the color by myself because it looked so ugly and streaky. With the prices and the quality of service, it feels like they're just scamming money out of people who are uneducated about hair. So yeah...don't go to this place. They ruined my fucking hair. You guys can have drinks to offer and nice interiors all you want, but until you treat all customers like they matter then your business will be shit. That includes lowering your ridiculous prices, listening to what your customers actually want, and explaining the hair services you're providing IN DETAIL before and while you're doing it. My only issues was that my stylish, Darian, colored my hair and I spend $180 plus $30 tip on a hair that she told me would last until Monday (3 days after the appointment) and it faded after 2 washed. I reached out to her and she send me voice messages on how she did her best and that I would not understand because I'm not a professional and is not licensed. But comparing my work to her work, I'll let you be the judge. Not worth the money and she told me I would not get a refund, only redo. But she broke my trust so why would I ever go back? Clearly the color was not blended as parts were missing. I asked for my hair and how it looked before she dyed it and she left me on read. She was the one who told me if I needed help or have concerns, to reach out to her on Instagram. But to send me voice messages was unprofessional and saying how basically it's your clients fault for "wanting to have fun" due to the color choices is not an excuse to do a crappy job in blending into a 'ombre'. I have so much to say, so I'll try to keep it as brief as I can. This review is long overdue. Hair: Whitney has been doing my hair for the last at least 2 years. Color or cuts, she is amazing. She really listens to what you want and does just that. She is very knowledgeable about hair and provides tips/info as needed! I also just got a wash and style (with some curls) today with Kim and she was great too! I called super last minute and they fit me in within 45 minutes. Nails: I have gotten my nails done by Koury 3 times now. I get the no-chip manicures. Every time I have gone, it lasts me a solid 3 weeks with no chipping. I work at a hospital and am REALLY hard on my nails, so that's a freaking miracle. I will definitely be trying out a pedicure with her next time. Esthetics: So Allie is their salon manager, but she is also a licensed esthetician. She has done my brows a few times and does an amazing job. I can't wait to try a lash lift or facial next time. Overall, their new salon location is just amazing. It's so clean, well decorated, and provides a calm and welcoming environment for you to relax and get pampered!! Madison is an excellent hair stylist. I take all three of my girls and myself to her. She does everything from hair color to cut for us. Highly recommend. However, I do not recommend Corey whatsoever for nails. She custom cut my nails to be stiletto. None of the nails where the same shape. The dip manicure was chunky and uneven. The next day was of the tips broke. She told me it was my fault because the shape of nail was not a good fit for me. I have had stiletto for nine months prior to seeing. Only once before that had I broke a tip. Later that day, a nail slide completely off. I contacted the salon and they said they would get me in to repair it but they never did. read more

It was my first time at this salon and I had no idea what I wanted. My stylist was Bri and she was amazing. Since I didn't know what I wanted she made suggestions and I just kind of let her do her own thing. She took her time and checked on me multiple times. After every thing she did she asked if I liked it and was patient with me. We did something I've never done with my hair and she took the time to show me how to style it and take care of it. She told me everything she was doing as she was doing it and told me what products she used before or as she was using them and told me what they're all for. My hair looks amazing and it was a great first experience. I also noted that when I curled my hair I always used a straitener instead of a curling iron and she curled it with a straitener. She said she haven't used one to curl hair in a while and it was a little refreshing. I thought that was a kind little detail. I got a perm here. The first appointment only the bottom half of my hair was permed so they asked me to come back on a separate occasion for the top. When I went back for the top and it was finished, the bottom half of my hair was then ruined. My hair began falling out about a day after my second session. Minor thing...no one offered me coffee or water in the entire 3 hours so eventually I helped myself. Neck hurt from being shampooed for so long. It's funny...just last week, I also got an angled bob at Allure. I would've given a big, fat 5 stars to Allure for the hair cut. Honestly, my stylist did an awesome job and I have received no end of compliments. She spent a long time on it, which is obvious when looking at it. Most importantly, she was able to competently cut my super-thick, super-wavy hair, which most stylists screw up royally. AND it was only $35. But, I was also drawn in by a $9 eyebrow wax. I walked away with two very angry looking (and very slightly uneven, I've found) eyebrow areas. I figured that it was just the normal redness/puffiness that comes with having a wax, and that it would go away. Lo and behold, I was actually scarred! The redness turned into long, bloody raised welts under my eyebrows. Yes, it was super sexy. After the urging of my friends, I called the salon owner to let her know, lest the stylist injure anyone else. She thanked me for calling, but I haven't heard anything else on the matter....which is fine, I guess. I'm a little worried about ever going back, since I ratted out the stylist. A couple days ago I got the BEST haircut from Whitney. I wasn't sure what I wanted so she took the time to talk to me and we finally figured it out. I recently moved down to Champaign and needed a haircut badly, so I took a gamble on this place based on a recommendation from a friend I work with. I'm so glad I did! She cut my hair in a totally flattering and awesome do that she promised was going to be easy to manage (which it is) and made some suggestions on any products I might find useful. She took me through the styling step by step, as well, which I really appreciated. I will definitely go back to Whitney and am going to schedule an appointment sometime soon for her to do my color, as well. The best part is, for a haircut like this in Chicago I would have paid twice as much. Only $35 for an amazing haircut. What an awesome deal! read more

Actually I'm not their client. I tried 3 times in October 2014 to become to, but... 1) I came to the salon two times - it was closed. Even light was switched off. It was strange, cuz I've been there at their workdays in the middle of the day. Also there was no notice on the door. 2) I tried to make an appointment through their website - it doesn't work. I was not 100% pleased with my hair cut (and the salon is a little dusty with cluttered) All the stylists have a lot of experience, and they all seem to really enjoy their jobs! I was also very comfortable going in confident that I wouldn't get a bad stylist. I have been really tired of going to the crappy $7 to $15 hair cut (you get what you pay for, right?) and having my hair royally messed up! Allure carries Aveda products and from what I experienced with the products, it is great. The BEST part of my visit was the process! Allure is a very good salon. I have been going here for around two years and have always been satisfied with my cuts. As a guy, my style is not complicated and usually just requires some maintenance. I can't attest to any of the stylists, except Amanda. She is very sweet, courteous, and always greets you with a smile. She also does excellent work and takes the time to listen to you and offer suggestions. The place is always clean and organized. When you arrive, the receptionist asks if you'd like something to drink. I've always requested water and never inquired about the other choices--probably sodas. Still a nice touch, though. A man's basic cut/style is $25.00 (this includes a wash). This is a fair price for quality and consistency. Many of the "$10.00 chop shops" have a tremendous amount of turnover and usually provide sub-par results (because most stylists worth their salt eventually move to a higher end salon). I'd actually give them 4 1/2 stars, but Yelp doesn't allow for half sizes. Allure would be 5 stars, if I could just get a martini or old fashioned while I wait! LOL read more

Of course the same day nobody else could fit me in for what I wanted. The salon is tucked away in west Champaign - you probably wouldn't notice it if you weren't looking. Doug has been cutting my hair on and off for three years. I haven't found anyone else in Champaign that does a better job with curly hair. He's continually expanding his styling knowledge and frequently participates in classes and photo shoots.
