Having to mail in receipts, wait for the rebate used as bait to bring me back in isn't respective of the customer. We hired Innovative Building and design for replace 5 windows and replace siding/soffit/fascia, and…read morerepair a leaking skylight in 2024. Signed a contract and paid 1/3 of total cost down payment on 5/17. I was told the project would only take a few weeks. The windows needed to be installed before siding, but there were multiple delays getting windows measured, ordered, delivered. Windows were finally delivered to our house on 7/22. The skylight/roof was fixed on 7/26. Window crew was slow and sloppy. Windows were "done" in a few days in early August, but then they took weeks to get the trim installed. One bright spot was the siding crew. Walter and crew tore off the old siding and wrapped the house in a day. They also paid attention to details like light fixtures, wiring, etc., and changed out some siding after I changed my mind about a minor detail. They also returned flower pots and other landscaping items when finished. They even came out on a Sat. to install new gutters. Most of the work was done in by mid-August, but it took until October to finish a few details. We had a new front door installed, pole wrapped, etc. Once they were done(over 5 months later), they tried to charge us for the windows twice(maybe a mistake, but the siding price was as much as the windows/siding original estimate), and also charged us for multiple items they said were covered. Get it in writing, I guess.

We remodeled our basement in 2020 and had a good experience with that company, but we were not happy with the Covid protocols (or lack thereof) of the other company or their long-term responsiveness. Prima was incredibly respectful of our home and fantastic about communication. The planning process was impeccable, and I felt like we were listened to and the design completely reflects what we wanted and what was most practical for our space. During the project Kim sent weekly updates about what was accomplished and what was planned for the next week. The project stayed on schedule in spite of a couple Covid brushes and a lot of snow! I also love supporting a woman-owned business, but if that's not your thing, pick Prima because of the quality of the work and the stellar communication and project management. We opened up a load-bearing wall and added the custom bench, and everything else basically stayed in the same place (except added a pantry) but was completely replaced and updated. They didn't tell us this and fraudulently represented themselves for the next 5 months as a licensed contractor. They have closed down Sota Ridge and now work under Luxe Renovation and Design in Blaine MN. Be warned Liz and Brady Hish will take your money with nothing in return.

That actually happened to us when Sota Ridge was trying to install our bathroom! It finally got done, but our toilet is kinda lopsided, and the wall on the opposite side of the shower was repaired with a slab of plywood after demo of old bathroom and installation of plumbing. Never offered to do a final walkthrough of the house after projects were complete, and favorite thing to say in response to or requests for finishing is "That's out of the scope of your project." Stay away, unless you like peeing in a bucket in the basement, staying in a hotel so you can shower, subcontractors with attitudes who are reluctant to work for these guys, and what feels like lingering PTSD.

Big mistake on our part. 1st he had her took out a building permit in her name. 2nd she authorized him to talk to her insurance on her behalf. 3rd siding job that his company did under his supervision was in 2 different tones of yellow. 4th the windows that they installed are starting to protrude. 5th she paid him extra to do a good job on her home and to make it look nice. 6th the gutter that they installed had to be glued back together the day after they put it in. I'm writing this to warn anyone that is thinking of hiring him to think twice. It's better to spend more money on getting things done right the 1st time. Especially if it's gonna be your home that you're going to be living in for a long time. Any company that have you take out a permit under your name is a big RED FLAG. A licensed company that does the job should be taking out a permit in THEIR name. As of now that we know of Thomas Troung T&D General Contractor license has expired since March. Look up Department of Labor Licensing Center. His license is expired.
