Before contacting Tradition, I received an estimate from one of "those" kind of roofing companies - You know the type, the ones that come by and leave a business card if your door and when you ask them to check out your roof they, of course, say you need and entirely new roof. When Scott Landa (who, in the interest of full disclosure, is the husband of a former coworker) came out to take a look at my roof he had an entirely different, and thankfully less expensive, opinion. After a quick repair, Scott was able to fix the area of my roof that I was concerned about. As he was leaving, I asked if I needed a new roof. Scott's answer was no. I not only appreciated Scott's professionalism, but also his honesty. I'm sure he would have loved to put an entirely new roof on my home, but it wasn't needed and he was able to accurately assess the situation and didn't rip me off. When the time comes that I do need a new roof, I'll be giving Tradition Roofing and Exteriors a call.

So when we needed new roofing, siding, gutters, gutter covers, facia and soffits I obtained several quotes. Erik didn't hesitate to come out to Farmington and quote the project. We had some "slick" salespeople and we had a guy that wouldn't give me a quote (he really didn't like women was my opinion) and would only deal with the insurance company. Erik was professional, honest and not "slick." The price was fair. My test is always the "warm and fuzzies." After a few meetings with Erik, he had my business. Then came the problems. Every color combo for all of the above items had items out of stock, discontinued or something. Erik made a lot of phone calls and several vendor trips. I have no idea how many combos we went through - probably 15 or so. Finally we found a combo that could be put together. YEAH!!!! Erik was patient through all of the "I hate neutrals" moments and several trips of holding colors against the house in different light. Roof install went well and then we had to wait 2 weeks for the siding. The siding installation was completed and they came back and fixed a couple of small items and we were done before Thanksgiving. Erik was around almost daily and even picked up extra FOD on his own. They installed our new lights and Ring cams too. Erik was easily reachable and kept on top of the project and kept me up to date. Very impressed. They were within $7 of the original quote (I think permit fees changed). Very happy and thankful that I selected Erik and Roofs R Us.

I highly recommend everyone stay away from TCR. TL;DR several roofing installation mistakes made,…read moresevere lack of communication from TCR throughout the entire process, and I was asked to write a review before work even began - red flag. After getting roof replacement quotes from 5 different companies, I decided to go with the second to cheapest option - which was Twin City Roofing. And of course, I got what I paid for. The problems began after I signed the quote and handed over the deposit check. I live next to a day care and young children play outside all of the time. Paul, the project manager that was working with me, suggested they perform all of the work on the 4th of July week since kids likely wouldn't be at the day care then. I arranged with my neighbor to not have kids there that week. A few weeks go by and I didn't hear from Paul or anyone else at TCR. The Friday before the 4th of July week, I reached out to Paul to find out when they would be coming and he said "Next week I believe". Then on Monday when no one arrived, I reached out to Paul again. He responded by saying he was on vacation and that Robert P. in the production office could help. I reached out to Robert and he said "I can tell you it won't be this week." Obviously I was unhappy that the roof wasn't going to be replaced that week but I was more upset with the lack of communication throughout the process. It should not be on the client to have to contact the company multiple times to try to get answers. Nonetheless, when the roofers came to replace the roof on my house, garage and shed, they came unannounced. The concerning issues came from work on the roofs. The shingles on the ridge of my shed transitioned from shingles that are meant to be put on ridges to what look like starter shingles. It is very obvious this is not correct. And on my garage, there is a full 15" of a starter shingle that is literally just hanging from the edge of my roof. How did this get missed?? And the biggest issue is with the flat roofs on my house. I asked all of the appropriate questions to Paul from the outset to make sure that there would be grading on the flat roofs such that all of the water would flow to the spout and drain. Alas, a few days after the work was complete, we got our first rain storm and I saw water pooling along the edges of the flat roof and heavy pooling in one corner. I contacted TCR on July 14th and sent pictures of all of these issues. I didn't get a response so I sent a second email on 7/20. I finally got a response from Tyler and he asked me when would be a good time the following day for him to check out my issues. I responded with a time in the morning. I then didn't hear back from him and he did not show up the next day. I was later contacted by Robert and he said he was working on a game plan on getting my issues addressed. Five days later (7/26), he sent another email saying he would have a game plan the following day and he would let me know. As you can imagine, I did not hear from him on 7/27. I emailed Robert again on 7/28 with no response. Finally on 8/9, Tyler came out to my house to take pictures of my concerns. He agreed that all of them need to be addressed. He said he would let me know soon what the next steps would be. I have not heard from him since. I emailed Robert on 8/16 telling him Tyler came out to my house and that I was looking for more information when the fixes can occur. I have not heard from TCR since - at all. I should have known from the get go something was off because after I gave Paul the deposit check, he asked me to write a good review of his efforts to boost the company. I was certainly not going to write a review for services that had not yet begun. If you do go with TCR, make sure to pay as little as possible up front so they have to come back and fix issues before they get their full payment.

I hired Storm Group back in 2016 (yes, I'm very late in writing a review) to remove an old 2nd…read morestory deck from my house and install new gutters and downspouts on the back of the house. Their bid was higher than the other bid I had gotten, but the sales guy I talked to seemed to know a lot about old houses so I hired Storm Group thinking they would do a good job and be able to deal with any old house issues that might come up. Nobody showed up the first two times they told me they were coming. The third time, one guy showed up by himself to remove the deck and patch the siding around it. I don't think he had much construction experience and he didn't speak much English. He was also supposed to install a railing in front of the door to the deck. The sales guy had told me they needed to this for liability reasons so nobody could fall out the door after the deck was removed. I told him the door had been walled over on the inside of the house, so I wasn't at all concerned about this, but I said it was fine to add a railing if he felt it was needed. The "railing" ended up being 3 2x6's. It looked awful and wasn't even treated wood. What kind of company uses raw wood on the exterior of a house? The were also holes left where the siding hadn't been fully patched. I complained about the "railing" and holes. Storm Group agreed to fix the siding and replace the railing with an actual railing, which would be painted grey to match the house. The same guy came out again to install the new railing, again by himself. I wasn't told in advance when he would be coming, so I was leaving for work as he arrived and wasn't around while he did the work. The new railing wasn't great, it looked like a pretty hasty carpentry job. It was at least painted, although the paint did not match the house and had large drips in places. I had been told that the new railing would be the same size as the old and the same screw holes made in the house for the first railing would be reused. This was not the case. The screw holes from the first railing were left completely open and uncovered. There was also a crack in the siding below the railing where a tool appeared to have been dropped. Storm Group then sent me a bill for for the deck removal and gutter installation. I told them they needed to actually install the gutters before I would pay for that. They seemed surprised to learn that the gutter installation hadn't been done. They gutters were installed the next day, but I wasn't told in advance, so I wasn't home at the time. They were supposed to replace the two gutters on the back of the house, one on the second story roof and one on the back porch. Instead, they replaced one of the gutters on the front of the house and the second story gutter in the back. There are two gutters on the front of the house that had matched before Storm Group. Now they are close, but if you look carefully, they are not the same. The downspout from the back second story gutter was placed so that it emptied onto the back porch roof. I has very specifically told the sales guy that the downspout could not go there because it was a low slope roof that was not in the best condition, and putting a lot of water there was a bad idea. At this point, I was fed up with Storm Group. I proposed that they could keep the half down I had already paid but that I didn't want them to do anymore work on the house and I wouldn't pay the remaining balance since the work had not been completed successfully. They agreed to this. I really should have asked for money back since I think they did more damage than actual work, but I just wanted to be done. The best part was after all this, when I went to move the downspout from the second story gutter to a better location myself. When I removed the downspout, I noticed that it was really dirty inside and had screw holes in a couple of places where there were no screws. And then I realized that it was part of the old downspout that had been on the house before and it had been cut up and reused. I suspect they ran out of materials since they replaced the wrong gutter and part of the downspout in the front of the house. They had charged me by the foot for all new materials for the downspouts, so I was not impressed to find that the old downspout had been reused. Surely somebody must have known that something was wrong at the point where they were cutting up the old downspouts and reattaching them to my house, but nobody from Storm Group ever said a word about any of this to me (and I didn't complain because at that point I just didn't want to deal with them anymore). I would give negative stars if I could.

Renda is the specialist I've been searching for. I have been trying to deal with a leaking roof as…read morebest I can, and I have been dealing with a hostile insurance company for about 3 months now that has intentionally made the process as complicated as possible so it's easier to deny people in need. A big roofing company tried to help me but quit on my family halfway through, I guess the insurance company was too much for them? I felt alone and tried to find someone else to help, someone who might know a way to win. I remembered her signs in my neighborhood and hoped maybe she was different because her style feels earnest, honest, and like someone trying to grab the American dream of making it their own way. When Renda and I were first texting about her taking over my claim I was quiet about my reservations as I was aware I was jaded and hurt by those who came before her promising us the same kind of care but I have been blown away and regret any doubts I ever had of finding an insurance specialist who could actually get insurance to pay like they're supposed to. Whereas others just promised me the water would stop coming in and they were there for us, Renda actually did everything. Every promise made was kept, and our roofing emergency was resolved and fixed in less than a couple weeks of taking over my claim. Renda actually got insurance to pay out on our claim, and we're in a much safer spot because of her and the local teams she works with. When she says she is all about teamwork she forgot to add the absolute depth of skill of those on her team. Nobody else even wanted to try to get done what her team got done in like not even two hours. When she says she's an insurance specialist, she truly means it. It was only after we secured Renda's services that we were able to get a claim approved. For the first time I actually felt like I was on a team trying to get my home taken care of instead of desperately trying to discern the behind-the-scene's nightmare machinations that is the insurance process on my own or trusting people who said they would stand by us and then fled with an "okey-dokey" the moment insurance said 'no' like Tommy Boy before he got his courage. I still can't believe she and her team finished inside of a couple hours and my roof looks better than ever. I have been waking up at 2am to make sure the tarp I had to put up was still there as my insurance sent a sub-par contractor to put a terrible excuse of a patch up but thanks to Renda I have hope I might actually be able to sleep through the night this evening. This whole ordeal was so overwhelming and so excruciatingly long and so taxing on my mind that when I saw my roof I wept with relief. I truly feel I only got this done because of Renda, and that Renda is the only reason we didn't eventually lose our home to insurances cruelty. I regret not calling her first.
