After interviewing other JP relators, I decided to go with BJ because I was impressed with his depth of understanding of the JP market and the sophistication of his reasoning around timing, pricing, and bidding. Throughout the process I was impressed with the team's coordination, especially Beth, the Director of Operations. The listing/sale process was clearly explained and smooth. BJ and team coordinated the staging, smoke detector inspection, three visits by handymen to address last minute items, and the legal aspects with the attorney they work with. BJ was right on with his pricing and I accepted a final offer a few percentage points above our listing price! I give Boston Home Team my strongest endorsement!

We worked primarily with Meredith and BJ (with Meredith leading) and not only are they an absolutely stellar team, they are also the kindest, most fun humans to work with. It made what should have been a super stressful experience actually pretty fun. Before getting to know them, two aspects of their business really stood out to us (we met with multiple agents before choosing Boston Home Team): their incredible listing services - especially the photos/videos they provide (I am especially fussy about this as a full-time professional photographer myself) - and the fact that they come in and spend a good chunk of time working with the homeowner on the staging aspect. This ended up being my favorite part of the experience - working with Meredith to make our home look its absolute best. She has phenomenal taste and also offers additional items to fill gaps where needed. My husband thought it was all a bit silly ... until we closed at over 30% over asking price. ;) What we didn't realize in advance was just how much time and effort they would put into marketing our home. They work their social media hard, and the eventual buyer found our home through Facebook ads (they hadn't even been looking in our town). Their communications throughout were top-notch and I felt comfortable reaching out multiple times with silly questions and thoughts, and they were always so encouraging and enthusiastic in their responses. I cannot recommend them highly enough. We are SO grateful that our realtor friend who is no longer in the Boston area was able to recommend them to us.

Immediately after they suggested her, she reached out to me. Throughout the entire process, working with Vena felt like spending time with a lifelong friend. Not only is she knowledgeable and kind, but also Vena is an expert at managing buyer anxiety. We ran into some roadblocks with one seller that accepted our offer and then dragged his feet on signing the P&S for several weeks. Ultimately, we had to walk away. With Vena's guidance, we worked through that issue and secured another property within a week even in the competitive market. After that, we had to meet the new seller's one-month timeline to close, and Vena quarterbacked all the communications between the seller's agent, our lawyer, and our lender to an exceptional extent. We never felt like Vena pushed us toward something that didn't fit our needs in terms of space or finances. Plus, with each of the many properties we viewed, Vena showed her expertise in spotting issues that would mean unreasonable costs or compromises. We'd recommend Vena for anyone who is searching for a place to live.

Our landlord was pleasant and well-intentioned but lived overseas and relied on Rise to manage the unit. Because of this, all building communications were sent to him instead of directly to us, and we routinely missed important updates. We raised this issue more than once, but the communication breakdown was never resolved. More seriously, for the final six months of our tenancy, the unit did not have working smoke detectors -- a clear safety issue and a violation of Massachusetts law. Under state tenant protections, this is the type of condition that can legally justify withholding rent if left uncorrected. Despite repeatedly raising this concern and attempting to resolve it in good faith, our requests went largely unaddressed. Rather than fixing the issues, our assigned representative ultimately attempted to force us out of the unit, escalating a situation that could have been handled responsibly and professionally. Other issues such as heating, cooling, and more we're ignored because communication with our rep was very difficult. In the end, we are thankful for the time we enjoyed in the apartment itself, but we are relieved to no longer be dealing with Rise Realty Boston and would not recommend them as a property management company.

I am an abutter to a large 2 year project they did and my concern is they are bad neighbors and seem unconcerned about that. They really trashed the area-, street damage to a private street is/was a huge problem. Despite emails to the three owners, several phone calls to them- not one response to figure a way to work with us, the abutting neighbors. I complained to the Mayor, city councilor, building department all with little success. They might be good builders, I don't know but they are bad neighbors and simply concerned with a buck

We reached out to the Holland Companies via our real estate broker and while the estimate ballooned from ~$60 to a final bill of $530, we were satisfied with the fix... until the heat was again unable to be turned on by the buyers during the walkthrough. The plumber came back out (with no notice, which we were grateful for), was finally able to get the heat turned on, and our house closed! A day after the closing we received an additional invoice for $200 for 2.5 hours of work. While the information above paints the picture of a perhaps less than competent, somewhat unscrupulous, and generally mediocre contractor, the final exchange between myself and the owner, Joe, added enough to push me to write this and plead with any and all customers not to seek out the services of the Holland Company. I intended on calling the company to ask for an explanation of the rationale for additional invoice (specifically why following the manufacturer instructions to override a temperature sensor and pressing the "on" button was billed out at 2 hours) and instead was confronted with accusations of "welching" on my bill and a barrage of misogyny that has no place in a customer service industry. Joe repeatedly talked over me, called me "honey", "sweetheart " and "love", and when I told him that I was dismayed at his lack of decorum and would be writing a negative review, he responded sarcastically with "Ooooohhhhhh, I'm going to be on the internet? Big deal, I don't care." Additionally, Joe indicated they are not in the "service" industry and was doing us a "favor" through our real estate agent, and I have no idea why he agreed to provide a service if he's not in the service industry. I am simply a consumer looking to understand a bill. I paid the bill, as I do all my bills, as originally sent, but was unhappy with the back-and-forth on the fix and more incredulous at how I was treated when I called the company to discuss what I didn't understand about that bill. Well Honey, welcome to the internet and for all of you prospective clients out there, please run (don't walk) away from doing business with this company.

As a result, we were pretty familiar with the local real estate scene. Having shopped for houses in Arlington, we knew about Steve McKenna, whom we'd met during open houses and had left a very favorable impression. So, when deciding to sell our Arlington home at the end of 2021, our first choice was to work with Steve McKenna & The Home Advantage Team @ Gibson Sotheby's International Realty. When we had decided to sell the house, we'd just gone through a family crisis and had much to deal with. We consider ourselves lucky to have chosen Steve and his team to represent us as they provided great guidance, seamless communication and comfort during what for us was a difficult time. At our first meeting, McKenna provided a very thorough overview of the Arlington real estate market and a strategy (including timelines) for selling the house. Particularly important, Steve and his team supplemented our efforts by helping to stage the house, keep the house clean (as there were frequent viewings), figure out the listing price, sort through the bids and execute the sale. We strongly recommend you consider hiring Steve McKenna & The Home Advantage Team if looking for or selling real estate. These folks have their finger on the pulse of the local real estate market, are smart and provide great insights and guidance. Also, everyone is quite personable and great to interact with. I doubt you could find a better group to help you find our sell a home!

After our most recent purchase of a single family home that Nate skillfully helped us navigate, he then helped us sell our condo. When I say he worked some serious magic, I mean it. Nate was able to help us get our place ready to sell in a three week timeframe, host a weekend of open houses while we were on vacation in FL, and then coordinate the offer that came through three days later. Nate's knowledge, attention to detail, honesty, and wonderful communication style make him a joy to work with. He always handles (what I consider) a very stressful and fast moving process with ease, professionalism, care, and always steered us with our best interest in mind. Working with Nate was a pleasure, and I know that if/when I ever need to move again I'll be reaching out to Nate!

Their ability to pull together a team (Manager, Painters, Cleaner, Mason, Inspector) got our JP Condo on the market as fast as possible in the Spring of 22; truly incredible efficiency in building prep. Christian's market knowledge was very helpful in evaluating the offers and closing in a rapidly changing market. We chose to work with Nate for the subsequnt purchase of a 2-Family in Roslindale and the experience was equally positive. Nate invested significant time and effort helping us eventually find and then evaluate opportunity in the house we chose. Because the house was a fixer upper with significant work to be done, Christian, a licensed builder, provided incredibly helpful insight into the cost and the nature of the work necessary to bring the house up to date. Since closing, both he and Nate, continue to be very helpful as the renovations get under way. I provide a very high level of service to my clients and I expect that from other professionals. I was not disappointed. If you are ready to brave the Boston RE Market, you won't find a better team to back you.
