Very delighted to stumble upon Allison Wonderland. I feel like they just don't make toy stores like this anymore. Independently owned, and packed with so many great toys, activities, books, and more. We have a kiddo of our own, along with nieces and nephews we were shopping for, and we found something for everyone! I most loved the sustainable wooden toy selection, and all of the great puzzles/building-type options. If you can skip the fast-shopping online from places like Amazon or Target, be sure to! This small shop could of course use the support, but they also genuinely have it all. Oh and the man working was very sweet and passionate about the store - love that!

I spied the goofy face on the side of the barn from the freeway and am a sucker for toys, so we detoured to take a peek. I really liked the rustic interior; it gave it some charm that not a lot of toy stores necessarily have. The inside wasn't too overwhelming or overstimulating, and there was a variety of items available for sale, most notably: toddler toys, puzzles and games, playmobile, science/outdoor stuff, plushies, and candy. The selection wasn't overly abundant, and I think they could probably do more with their square footage, if they wanted to. I thought it was cute they had a little nook with a table and chairs and a "game of the week" sort of set up so you could try it out if you wanted. The employee working there was friendly and sweet. I got a small plush Douglas brand fox (because I collect fox plushies and I didn't have that particular design yet). In the basement they apparently sell bait and tackle, which is sorta hilarious. As it was winter when we stopped in, the ice cream attachment was not selling. Rats! Maybe next time we head to WI?

I was in Delafield and realized I needed a couple more small holiday gifts, so I finally decided to stop in. I'm really glad that I did. There was much more there than I expected. Inside, there are rooms filled with all kinds of games and toys. The selection ranges from board games to action figures and everything in between. There truly is something for just about every age and interest. If you are in the mood for something to eat, or want to buy a tasty gift, they also have a case full of different confections. I ended up picking up a couple of items. The staff were friendly and helpful during checkout.

There are clearly products made by independent companies or family-owned businesses, many by kids themselves. The toy store is also operated and owned by the nicest, kindest people you can meet. They love asking questions and recommending different products based on what you share. Lastly, the prices are on average higher than your big box stores, but for me it's worth it to support a local business that supports small businesses as well. It's worth the cost to get such great service and great products.

Once you're up there hopefully you get through the main street stop light at least by the 3rd try. But once you do, make your way to Aerial Stunt Kites. Not only do they have and also repair some pretty amazing and innovative 3D windsocks, they also have great toys for kids, and some really pretty chimes. They also have a nice selection of beautiful kites too. But, I personally think the windsock is "the thing". And it's not surprising. Not only are they special (gigantic koi fish, owls, moose, flowers), as well as patriotic (any nation that seems to have a flag), but their stuff wears like iron; through repeated gale force winds, brutal winters, torrential rains, and gentle lake breezes. For their little corner of the market, their service is great and the prices are reasonable for what you get. Nice shop!

I have been interested in the original 4-part Wolverine series for a while, and since the shop had all 4 issues, I asked whether they were newsstand or direct issues. The employee took them out of the case and assured me they were all newsstand, but when I got home and conducted a bit more research, I found that they were ALL direct issues. Whether it was due to incompetence or ignorance, I won't be placing anymore trust in this shop, which is unfortunate because I had a high level of interest in a lot of their glass-case collectible issues. Yes, this is partly my own fault for making the purchase without conducting further research first, but to be taken for a ride like this by an employee who is there to assist customers is enough reason to stay away in the future.
