This was our first stay in Edinburgh, and it turned out to be the perfect location. Allison House has free parking, and is on all the main bus lines into the city centre, which was perfect for us. We were greeted cordially, and the woman who served us breakfast was remarkably kind. The room is large and comfortable; however, the bathroom is a bit small, and the shower is hard to maneuver around in. My biggest complaint was the faint smell of smoke. I'm unaware of the history of the building, and am assuming it used to permit smoking? It wasn't strong enough to cause any sort of reaction (I'm somewhat sensitive to smoke), just kind of noticeable in the bed and bath linens. As a whole, though, the cost and location worked really well for us, and we would certainly consider booking here again if we were to return to Edinburgh. read more
