I had to go through medical insurance, and my insurance was requiring an unexpected consult prior to paying for my surgery that was scheduled in 24 hours!! Dr koslin kindly made the time to see me at the end of his work day the day before, and we got it done, and he wasn't even the surgeon doing my teeth! These people care about their patients as a whole group. They are incredibly efficient, and knowledgeable. I would trust these guys with my life.

However, we went to have one thing done and was informed that my son's wisdom teeth needed to be removed as well. I was okay with that and spoke to billing and the out of pocket cost was $400 which was due before his appointment. A month later, I received a bill in the mail for $2300+ and was totally shocked. How was this missed? If I had known, my out of pocket cost would be that much, he wouldn't have gotten his wisdom teeth removed. I have called the office multiple times and left a message and no one has returned my call. Unfortunately, I dont recommend this place and the billing person needs to be fired because clearly she isn't doing a great job.

However he retired and I moved to Birmingham. I was putting off looking for a new dentist because they are often hard to trust and I feel try to do more work then needed. But, I needed a dentist ASAP because by I cracked my front tooth! I called the next morning and they were able to get me in same day. I was in and out quick, he gave me a great consult and did not overcharge -even undercharged- he also did not do more work to my tooth than necessary. My tooth looks great and I scheduled a future appointment for cleaning! I'm glad I found a new dentist and will recommend to anyone who asks!

I found another dentist and got a lot of work done on my teeth. Since I don't have a dental degree, I generally trust what dentists tell me I should do. I ended up in Dr. Cosgrove's office after all this work and immediately wished I had started here. The staff was kind and went out of their way to explain my insurance coverage and costs before I visited. Dr. Cosgrove took the time to explain the risks and benefits of the treatment he suggested. He did most if not all of the work himself, undercharged me for work he performed, and conversed in a very down to earth way with everyone he interacted with. I think I will switch to his practice: I was very impressed.

I have gotten my wisdom teeth removed by him, and most recently had a dental implant put in. Both were very easy for recovery. He removed not only the tooth but the ENTIRE bone on the top of the mandible that held the tooth. This was unnecessary, excruciatingly painful, and has rendered my mother's jaw incapable of receiving an implant because there is no bone left! Her teeth are in danger of collapsing and she has had to visit numerous specialists in an attempt to find a way to remedy the atrocity this ham-fisted "surgeon" rendered in her lower jaw. When my mother's regular dentist saw what he did to her he was furious. DO NOT go to this oral surgeon. He is brutal and incompetent. We are posting this in an effort to help others avoid a similar fate. Please find a better surgeon, the ARE out there!

What sets Brookwood Endodontics apart is its attention to patient comfort. When I arrived, I received a card to complete noting my preference for nitrous, a blanket, a pillow, tv channel and a beverage. This helped ease my anxieties about the procedure almost immediately. Prior to the procedure, Stephanie and Daniel did a fantastic job of taking my X-rays and well as explaining and preparing me before Dr. Thomas began his work. I appreciated that Dr. Thomas made certain that I understood why the procedure was needed and what to expect during and after the procedure. The following day, a member of the office called to check on me, which rarely, if ever, happens at other offices. I could not have asked for better or more professional service. Highly recommend.

Usually when a dentist is giving you numbing shots he will make it less uncomfortable. He did not do this. I just received a bill for $165.00 for a 3d x-ray that is not covered. I asked why didn't you tell me that insurance would probably not pay for it. I then asked, if they could discount this amount to what insurance would allow. She said NO. I told her my dentist had sent me for a root canal of one tooth. I didn't see why they had to do a 3D of my entire mouth. If you go be prepared for additional charges that are not covered.

The waiting room decor is a bit creepy. Definitely not what you'd expect at a dentist's office. I felt like I was visiting a medieval castle, with its antique furniture and dark renaissance art on the walls. I can't imagine how awful it must've been to visit a dentist during the medieval period. Ouch! The exam rooms are a bit dated. I noticed dust on some surfaces. Although overall things were clean. The cleaning crew is not as detailed in cleaning as my regular dentist's office is. They should really update the interior to make it look brighter and sleek - what you'd normally expect from a top oral surgeon's office.

It has been over 3 years and one of my son's wisdom tooth extraction holes has still not healed…read moreproperly. We have been back to the dentist multiple times with infections and clean out. We have now consulted with a new oral surgeon, and further surgery has been scheduled to correct the problem. Our new oral surgeon stated that everyone has an off day. Unfortunately, that "off day" has caused considerable pain and consequences to my son. Dr. Roden was informed of my son's allergy issues at our wisdom teeth removal consult and informed that he could not take ibuprofen due to it triggering hives and facial swelling. My son's allergist even prescribed an epinephrine pen and prednisone as additional precautions. After surgery, I had to inform the nurse again that my son could not take ibuprofen due to it triggering his facial swelling and hives. She then told me he could just take the prescribed prescription pain medication, supplement with acetaminophen, and use the liquid lidocaine, as needed. The prescribed pain medication contained acetaminaphen. I questioned her on taking too much acetaminaphen and she said I could just calculate the correct amount. After three days of stretching the prescribed pain medication, my son was still in severe pain. I called Dr. Roden's office and informed them of his pain and requested a refill of his pain medication. Neither Dr. Roden nor his nurse called me back to question my son's pain or symptoms. I was told by the receptionist that Dr. Roden would refill my son's prescription but that I would have to come pick it up due to it being a narcotic. The prescription was for 5 additional pain pills. By the next evening, my son was in excruciating pain and his symptoms pointed to dry socket in both of his bottom extractions. I called the after-hours line, as this was a Saturday, and was put in touch with Dr. Roden directly as the on call doctor. Dr. Roden was rude, dismissive and expressed very little care or concern. I was informed that I'd "need to call the office on Monday to bring him in" and that he "couldn't call in any pain medication", which I had not requested. Only after I pressed Dr. Roden for anything that could be done to alleviate the pain did he inform me that I could clean out the sockets myself with salt water using the provided syringe and liquid lidocaine. By this point, I was out of the lidocaine and Dr. Roden did agree to at least call that prescription in for me. I understand that dry socket happens. However, not questioning a patient's pain and symptoms when he's 3 days post wisdom teeth extraction is poor care. Not altering a patient's post-operative pain management plan when you've been informed multiple times of your patient's special circumstances with regards to ibuprofen is poor care. Finally, being rude and dismissive of your patient's genuine health issue is just plain unprofessional. I suggest consulting a different oral surgeon.
