I work between AL and TN and after having a horrible tooth extraction out of TN I obtained a dry socket while working near this dental office. I called knowing the office was closing in twenty minutes and without hesitation they told me to come right in and they would gladly pack the socket for me. Everyone within the practice was polite, nice and worked very quickly. The practice itself was beautiful inside and out. The Dentist was thorough, knowledgeable and very nice. Even though they were closed by the time he finished packing my extraction the Dentist was nonetheless friendly and patient and took the time to explain my situation with me. He placed me on an antibiotic after the root canal and a week later the top right side of my mouth and face were in a pain I can't began to explain, I went back to Dr Luna and he looked at the X-rays and told me there was nothing wrong other than he needed to adjust my bite ( drilling again). I left and that night the pain came back even worse, I called the office a lady answered and I explained to her the issue , she said let me look at your chart , guess what ? She saw a cavity and a filling that needed to be replaced ( that's the lie I spoke of earlier that Dr. Luna lied about). I asked to have my records transferred and they gave me this spill about no we don't want you to go anywhere else come back in so we can rectify( excuse me I most certainly will not). I had already set an appointment at a different dentist( amazing chair side manners and experience). The new office informed me they would have my records transferred and not to worry. I have to return to Dr. Luna because I have paid for my procedure already and they have to place my crown , but when I tell you I don't want to because of the experience I had it's just not enough explaining I can do. My sister is a Black woman, and the way Black employees were treated raised serious concerns for me. She also described what she felt was unequal treatment among employees. According to her, one white employee was allowed to contribute very little to the workplace without facing the same level of scrutiny or consequences as others. This created concerns about favoritism and unequal standards. I also learned about another Black female employee who reportedly passed out after being exposed to blood. She continued working there afterward but was reportedly fired approximately a year later. This raised additional concerns about how Black employees were treated. It seems to be a pattern with Black individuals in general. Seeing Dr. Gooch wearing a "Gulf of America" T-shirt also made me uncomfortable and contributed to my concerns about the workplace environment. Based on my sister's experience and what she shared with me, I would encourage anyone considering this office to carefully consider their options.
