ALLIANCE GRAPHICS is located in west Berkeley, in between Gilman Street and University Village. On a few occasions during the past several years, I ordered T-shirts printed with various photographs. Each time I ordered a T-shirt, I asked for a glossy plastic print and a non-glossy ink print. When I get my landscape photos printed on T-shirts, I prefer the glossy plastic print over the non-glossy ink print. For landscape photographs, I prefer the greater color intensities and the greater detail that can be acquired with the glossy plastic print. As you can see, I posed the T-shirts near the front door at Alliance Graphics. I hung each of the T-shirts from the Slik tripod that I use for all of my landscape photography. Attached are photos showing T-shirts printed with the following images: (1) View of The Balconies (a stone mountain having an interesting shape), about a half mile in the distance, as seen from High Peaks Trail. (2) View of volcanic granite towers, located about 20 feet north of High Peaks Trail. (3) View of one of the T-shirts printed with the advertisement for my grandma's hat and bag store. At Alliance Graphics, I ordered about ten T-shirts in all, and they were printed with these images: ( 1 ) Views from top of High Peaks Trail at Pinnacles National Park. This park is located 25 miles south of Hollister. I used a 300 millimeter telephoto lens to capture details of distant volcanic stone formations, during my hikes on High Peaks Trail. In the past several years, I've hiked to the top of Hawkins Peak on five different weekends. ( 2 ) Views of Mesquite Dunes near Stovepipe Wells, at Death Valley National Park. ( 3 ) Reproductions of advertisements for my grandmother's hat and bag store. The ads were originally published in the Camden Courier-Post. My grandma's hat and bag store was located at 403 Broadway in Camden, N.J. Two of the T-shirts with my grandma's advertisement I gave to my little sister for her birthday. Also, I kept two of these T-shirts for myself for wearing in Berkeley and in Alameda, in case other people were interested in my family's heritage. The question of which kind of photographic print (glossy plastic print versus ink print) is better at surviving washing is not relevant to me, because when I wear the T-shirts made at Alliance Graphics, I always wear a plain T-shirt underneath that. An advantage of Alliance Graphics over other T-shirt printing companies, is that you can order a single T-shirt. In contrast, some other companies have a minimum order, for example, a minimum order of twenty T-shirts. Another advantage of Alliance Graphics is that the color balance is always perfect the first time. COLOR BALANCE. I lived in San Diego in the years 2018-2019 and, at that time, had my T-shirts printed at a nearby company, where the color balance was sometimes wrong, and where I needed to pay money to have the shirt done over again with a better color balance. By wrong "color balance" I mean, for example, that the blue color turned out to be more of a magenta, or that the yellow turned out to be too orange. My school went through these guys to set up an online shop and print and ship apparel. Every single step of the 2 month long process was fraught with mishaps and technical difficulties. When I finally got my order, it was the wrong item and I called alliance to get it fixed and they said the person who oversees online shops was out and basically gave me the brushoff, leaving me an email of some random other company they do business with that actually does printing (what???). So now I have sent an email to the person they're passing this buck to, and I will probably never ever get my sweatshirt. I'll be lucky if I even get a refund at all. This sucks extra because they only do apparel once every 2 years so these guys effectively made it so I will have to wait literally years to get the right sweatshirt. read more

I was orignally referred to Alliance Graphics by the Berkeley High School Athletic Department when I wanted T Shirts for our class reunion. For a very reasonable fee, they designed and produced them (@ $10 per shirt including tax). The art department is fantastic and the turn around time is super speedy. I am now using them for my Business Shirts since they were able to match the price that we were getting in Missouri. We'd rather keep the money in our own community! Going straight to the point... (1) They lack any kind of communication! I did not get an email of samples of what I wanted embroidered or any updates on my order; (2) The gave me a price per embroidered item and when it came time to pay it was 5.00 dollars more than what I was expecting; (3) They give a very rough rough estimate of when your order should be ready. The lady settled on 1 week from when I ordered the items - it took about 3 weeks to get what I needed. I should have listened to the other post about this place. I wanted to assume that it was a family owned business that they would be honest enough to run a business with some care for their customers. I was satisfied with what I got, however the entire process of getting it was too much of a hassle. I would post pictures of what I got, but my companies name is on it. read more

I hunted around for a union tshirt shop to print some shirts for my election volunteers. Alliance was the only union shop I could find in the Bay area. I was hopeful and sent an initial email and called. I got some information and was asked for a deposit so we could proceed. I then asked a simple question: What does S-4XL mean? How many sizes are in there? I need to survey my volunteers to ask what size they want, so I need to know what size options to give. Alliance went radio silent for a week. I emailed, I called, but I heard nothing. Finally, I gave up. This is certainly not helping people make a choice of union printers over non-union printers. read more

I found Alliance Graphics through a friend, and I went in on a holiday Monday, hoping they could do a rush order of t-shirts for my son's school play. Macey put me at ease immediately, letting me know that they had the shirts in stock and could meet my deadline. Then, when I tried to pick up the shirts on Saturday, I found that they're closed over the weekend (my bad). But Howard offered to meet me at the shop on a Sunday at 10am, so I would have them in time to take to my son's teacher on Monday. I'm a transman, and this guy kept calling me "ma'm" and gave me some made up excuse as to why he could not customize a shirt when I told him I was willing to pay for it today no matter what the cost. I love the dogs. You'll love the dogs too, especially the really furry one. He can catch treats out of the air, but I think he prefers to be hand-fed. If you're coming to pick up your order late in the day, make sure it's not too late; the dogs go home before closing time. Or at least they do sometimes. Lovable furry dogs? I've place 2 separate orders the first order was a success. Although the second order was not I was not given a call as promised to let me know my order was in. A couple of the hats had some type of damage to them. The prices was a lot higher then what's was promised on each hat. To finish it off I let the man at the front desk know about it and he had an attitude with me about the price the damage and said I would have to speak with the person that took the order. If there was the option of negative stars, I would select that. I wanted to buy shirts for my son's soccer team. As it is incredibly tedious to communicate with the staff through email, I went to their store. Upon entering, I noticed the sign at the door "please leave dogs outside". Thus I made my black Lab service dog wait for me patiently outside on the patio. When opening the door a small white dog on a ridiculously long leash, ran towards me and jumped against the door trying to attack my dog. The employees tried to hold the dog back, but we're not really able to. I thus asked them to calm the dog down, as it made my dog nervous..for instance keeping the dog on a short leash. But they refused, saying it's the owner's dog, so they can't do anything about it. And also, it would be such a loving and kind dog, that there was nothing to worry about. This loving and I kind dog continued to bark through the door at my dog. As I said, well I if you can't control the dog I will have to leave. That's when they wished me a nice day. Obviously at this store the owner's dog is the king and not the customer.. needless to say I won't do business with them. read more

I tried to get an estimate to customize a cap and this experience was not very good at all. I sent an email asking for a quote on customized caps, the first response was quick and they wanted to know more of what I want letting me know they can't see together caps but can do embroidery. I soon sent over another email letting them know I was open to seeing what they offer and can work together to figure something out. No response. I went on to call them and the person who picked did not have great customer service and sounded annoyed when I was trying to explain I hadn't heard back. I've had varied experience here. A couple times I got good, courteous service from one of the young male employees. Other times I have gotten a gruff refusal to do work from the owner (apparently)-- the older man with a large pile of papers on his desk.
