PLEASE read this!!…read more After years of working with a highly respected, well trained, older and more experienced acupuncturist, I was so overwhelmed and feeling so out of sorts, so upon the offer of services, I had an appointment with Alexandra (acupuncturist). She did a review of my situation from her medical tradition, or the acupuncture view of diagnosis, and she made a few comments, place a few needles (I didn't even feel them) and let me relax in her charming office for about 15 minuets. She returned, took the needles out, and told me to let her know how I felt later, or within the next 24 hours. On the hour long drive home, I felt something 'come up' in me. I could feel something that wanted to be released. Such an odd feeling, and at the same time I felt that whatever was coming up was going to feel better once allowed to be freed. So many things happened...my tongue felt like a cotton pillow, a sort of anger seemed to be brewing, only it all felt perfect and normal. I had never had such a reaction to any treatment, so it was all very interesting and I felt like something really amazing was taking place for me. That feeling was very supported and genuine so I was able to just let the experience unfold. I won't go into all the details, however, the important point is that after this treatment, I felt better than I had in the last few years! I wished I had found Alexandra sooner because I think that would have allowed me to heal faster. Thinking of myself as a person who had a lot of experience with acupuncture I never expected to have such a profound healing because in all my past sessions with other practitioners nothing close to this experience had ever come close to happening. NOT all acupuncturists are alike. Alexandra actually took the opportunity to travel to china to learn even more, and she continues to learn more and more about healing systems. As I have gotten to know her, I have discovered her deep intention to assist others in their journey to health and happiness. I am exceedingly impressed and in fact relieved to have discovered an acupuncturist who is so gifted and truly interested in assisting me to be better! It is so refreshing to me to discover that I really didn't know so much about acupuncture after recommending it to many many people over the last 20 years. Alexandra has opened a whole new view to me about how acupuncture benefits us...not through conversation, but through treatment that really works! Without hesitation, I recommend Alexandra acupuncture to anyone! Mostly, those who think they have a wonderful practitioner already, because as I have already stated, not all acupuncturists are equal. I chose Washington Spine and Disc because of my insurance and the location. The office was easy to find and the staff was very pleasant. Dr. Giaten was also very nice and really thorough. I didn't know what to expect during the appointment, but he walked me through everything. He did a detailed exam of my spine, explained all of his findings, and then recommended a course of action. I had a therapy session first to loosen my shoulder, back, and neck muscles then he performed the adjustment. The adjustment is uncomfortable and I was sore afterwards, but the next day I felt great. I plan to continue going for adjustments and I highly recommend this practice.

Sometimes my therapist was working with three patients simultaneously but two is the norm. On the other hand, their staff is hard to work with. I called for sick but no one picked up the phone at 7:30 am and then called after 9 am for postponing my appointment but the response was I have not informed them 24 hours in advance( My appointment was at 7:30am next day and the office was closed and no one picking up the phones). I was an old patient and going there for more than 3 months for the same issue. They charged me $50.00 penalty for not showing up. I will not go or recommend this place to anyone. Duncan called me 3 days later when I canceled all of my appointments.

Sorry, Positively Chiropractic - it's all you, not me…read more Unfortunately, it seems as if our initial meeting and sessions were too good to be true, as the subsequent sessions was such a downhill experience. Appointment days and times are limited, and sessions did not take longer than 10 minutes, and seems to take less and less each time; with the amount you pay, you'd think that there would be more of a check-in and a follow-up rather than just a quick adjustment and an 'adios'. We felt like we were just a numbered item going through an assembly line; so much so that the last (and, final) visit led to both the front staff and the chiropractor to completely forget that we were in a room, waiting. With the wait time becoming ridiculous, we knew that something was off - we left the room and realized that there was no communication or notification that a patient was waiting. How awful is that? I understand that sometimes, mistakes can happen, but the way that this was handled was extremely poor and left a bad taste in our mouths - there was blaming on the staff and absolutely no ownership of the mistake(s) that had happened. Dr. Chavone and Dr. Gwen are a great team and run the best PT place in NOVA. Highly trained, experienced, knowledgeable and friendly therapists. I've been seeing them post achilles surgery for about 3 weeks. In addition to needing PT to regain full use of my ankle and foot, 8 weeks in a boot left me with an injured kneed from walking funny and significant muscle atrophy. Not only have I been making great progress, but I actually feel myself getting stronger. Both Dr's are great at giving encouragement, motivation and a little helpful push when you need it. They also really listen to their patients and their patients bodies. Finally, Dr. Chavone and Dr. Gwen are always happy to answer any questions in detail- in layman's terms all the way up to an in depth medical discussion. Everything is SUPER CONVENIENT: plenty of parking, unlike trying to get in/out of fair oaks hospital complex; plenty of hours available; and an elevator in back that takes you right to the office. Their office itself is very clean, has everything needed to provide excellent care and very bright, open and welcoming. It looks like a small, very modern gym with up-to-date brand new equipment. My initial therapy is about halfway finished, but I hoping I can continue to do more balance and strength workouts. I really like this crew. OK, in one of their rooms is what looks like some kind of suspension training system. When I asked, they said it was the REDCORD NEURAC system. If you don't play for the Washington Capitol Hockey team, you can't find this anywhere within 50 miles of the DC/NOVA area. it is one of the most innovative and effective (peer reviewed) systems for treating challenging muscle/skeletal pain.
