Unfortunately I can't recommend this salon. The person who did my cut used the same comb and brush as they had for a prior client without cleaning them first. This was obvious because they both had hair on them that was no where near my hair color. The floor also hadn't been swept between clients. The stylist also moved my head to the positions he wanted it for cutting in a way that made me feel like I was a some sort of mannequin with a rusty neck joint that needed a few extra pounds of force to reposition. I've never felt that way when getting a cut before. I've also never had another stylist move my head like that. For prospective, I'm not exactly a young person so I've visited numerous stylists. Overall the cut was also poorly done. Sections seemed uneven and that wasn't apparent until I washed it because he used a large round brush to blow dry the ends under. Normally I'd complain to management at the salon but I believe the stylist I saw is the owner. read more

The only positive that came out of our trip today it was a 20 min cut. Today I took my daughter and was very upset with Ali's careless attitude, unprofessional-ism, and the price he charged for the cut. My daughter is crying her eyes out right now. The only reason I didn't say anything at the salon cuz Ali wasn't listening to it. I told him my daughter wants a bob showed the picture, but all he can say was no thats not going to work, he was rushing through the whole thing, if u r that bz y give us time to come? He didn't wash her hair, nor blow dried, and was charging us $40 but said i'll give u discount, i paid $30. For the cut he did i wouldn't even spend $15 on it. He's way over priced and now doesn't care about his customers either so I agree with all the negative review, its not the same salon it was a year ago!! read more

I've always have bad luck with haircuts. I've gone through so many stylists and they never could do it right. I have thin long hair, elbow length I would say.. and I never wanted to go any shorter, I wanted to do anything I could to my hair to make it not look so stringy and lifeless. I got recommended to try this salon and to do it with Al. I went in there with hair was was different lengths from front to back due to a bad haircut from my previous stylist and I walked out with the most amazing haircut I have ever gotten. He did exactly what I wanted and my hair has never looked so full and healthy!! I am really happy with these the results and I will continue to get my haircuts from Al for as long as I possibly can! Came here with a Groupon and was expecting to pay somewhat close to the amount the groupon was for. It was significantly more and not what I asked for. I asked for Dark Auburn highlights and showed a pic of the cut I wanted. I thought everything was fine until it dried and came out blonde. I said nothing because I didnt want her to take 3 extra hours to redo it. Then she blow dries my hair straight, also something I didnt ask for. I dont even know her name as she didnt introduce herself and barely talked to me the whole time. I was surprised only because she wasnt telling me some of the things she was doing. It only took an hour and last time I had highlights done at a different salon it took 3x as long and turned out great. Dont go here unless you want a basic trim. read more

A barber is Not the same as a Stylist After seeing Greys Anatomy I made it a mission to have "McDreamys" hair. The staff at Allenmays is welcoming and friendly. Definitely not a snobby salon, the service and ambiance is always a delight. Al and May, the owners, are two of the classiest people I know. I sat in the chair and as soon as my stylist told me to uncross my legs because I would be sitting in an uneven position I knew I was home. After strategizing for 15 minutes we put our plan into action. I could not be any happier, with my new cut. The self confidence alone my hair has given me is enough. My stylist, Linda, who was doing brides at age 14, is a teacher at hair shows across the U.S. Her talent is amazing. read more

I asked for three or four inches off of my hair, and walked out with eight inches off. He knows his hair, but he isn't good at reading his customers and doing what they ask him to. I've never been more upset with a haircut, and I had to pay a ridiculous amount for it. At least he knows hair well and treated it nicely. Don't waste your money! I scheduled my appt. w/the salon owner Ali for a cut & color. He looked at my hair, told his assistant, who is fresh out of beauty school what to mix & had her foil my hair (mind you, he charged me as if he did it). She mussed several areas of my root & he sent me back over to her & she reapplied color, this time messing up my freshly done highlights. When I questioned the owner, his response was "it will wash out" and sent me on my way. Worst 200.00 I ever spent to Look so bad. If I wa Rex someone fresh out of beauty school I'd have went to a chain & saved myself about 120.00! read more

I was surprised to see how large this full-service salon was when I came inside. It sits in a strip mall, and the storefront appears rather small. However, it has 8 chairs, a nail station, 2 pedicure rooms, several massage/facial rooms (including one for couples), a steam/shower room, and a vishi shower room that doubles for spray tanning. The salon staff is knowledgeable and friendly. There are some great spa packages too. read more

I have never ever been so dissatisfied with my end result than leaving this place. I walked out with the same color that I walked in with. I asked for a trim and it was practically a joke, didn't even touch the top of my head(bangs). I really don't know how this place is still in business. Don't even let me bring up the prices. I usually don't give reviews but I figured I pay it forward and give what is deserved. I Was here for the first time and the experience from start to finish was amazing. I was not expecting to find such a gem of customer service tucked away in a small business plaza but I will recommend this place for anyone looking to escape and be pampered for a couple of hours. I was there for massage and facial as a birthday gift. When I first walked in I was greeted by May ,the owner, With a big smile and then escorted by Lorraine to the back spa area where I got a great firsts class relaxing massage. The ambiance was something that I would expect in a five star resort. Then on to the facial where they used something called image peal or something like that. All I know it smelled great and felt even better :) I have had massages and facials before but the staff at this place really seem to care which is rare now a days. Would recommend to anyone. If I had to say something negative it would have to be that I was a little late because I could not find the place, their signage was lacking. I had Ruba cut my hair after reading other reviews. I have curly med length hair. She said I needed some bulk removed and started chopping with a razor. I have never had such an uneven, hard-to-style cut in my life!! It was a horrible haircut...left side ended up about an inch shorter than the right side. Now I have short hair as a result of the next hairdresser trying to fix Ruba's cut. I don't know who wrote the positive reviews for her, but it was certainly not my experience for the $45 plus cut!! read more

Received a gift certificate for the salon. For $80, I got one of the worst haircuts I've ever had. I asked for 2 inches cut off and came out of there with all kinds of layers. My hair is extremely slow growing and it took me 6 yrs to get it to this length and in the blink of an eye, it was gone. Ali thinks he knows everything but doesn't take the time to find out what the client really wants. Don't go here unless you don't care what kind of haircut you want, because Ali will give you whatever haircut he wants to do and not necessarily what you want. read more

I called in advanced to see how much it would cost to do a balayage on my hair because I've never been to this salon before. My hair is just a little bit passed my shoulders. The receptionist transferred me to a stylist and she stated it could range from $75 to $120. So I booked the appointment and when I get there it so happened to be the owner of the place. He sat me down and looked at my hair and told me a few things that he would like to do with it. He then began to state that it would be $120 because he would have to put some lowlights to even out the blonde. I then said okay that's fine. As he beings to put the blonde in my hair, he's dropping the bleach all over the floor, on my phone, and my cape. He dropped the brush twice, the first time he dropped it he just rinsed it off and starting using it again. (That's when I should've said something but didn't) The second time he dropped it he threw it in the sink and went and got a new one. He was very rough on my head. I go to pay and the receptionist states the amount is $181!!! I wanted to cry! He only put 12 foils in my head and did a trim to my hair and did not style it either. I was so blown away by that amount. I would have NEVER went there if they didn't tell me the most they would charge was $120. My experience at AllenMay's Salon and Day Spa was awful. I will never go there again and I will never recommend them to anyone. read more

I had an appointment for 2pm...I arrived at 1:50pm....he said...you're early...Okay.....then they washed my hair and let me sit next to him while he is cutting someone else's hair....she didn't like one side...so he had to recut....it's now 2:40pm....he finally finishes up with her and starts my hair.....I showed him a couple of pictures of what I was thinking....he proceeds with what he wants more concerned with letting me know I am getting a "HOT CUT" for free because they are promoting this....okay.....the next girl is washed and sitting next to me waiting her turn......as he's still working on me.....finally I'm done...and my hair looked exactly like the girl before me......nothing like what I wanted....cut about 6 inches off...layered all over....said I would never have to use a curling iron on it.....wrong.......I have bone straight hair and it needs a little curl! All I can do now is pull it back in a ponytail and wait for it to grow...for 60 bucks I coulda bought a bottle of wine and did it myself. Never again!! Who did this voting???? read more

While waiting to get an ice cream treat this summer, a woman with an amazing hair cut waited on me. She shared with me that she goes to Ali at the Allen May Salon. I made an appointment there with Ali, just to test the waters. I explained carefully what I wanted, and in return Ali made some great suggestions based on my hair texture and color. I started with just a cut to experience the atmosphere and his ability. My hair looked fresh and contemporary. He told me to get the cut I had seen earlier, he would need to cut my hair pretty short. We settled on a modified version and the decision worked out quite well. Still, it was a cut built on my previous stylist. I then decided to try letting him color my hair. My hair has lots of gray and I like being blonde. Ali brought out the color chart and gave me a quiz. I must say color is subjective and we were better able to communicate through his questioning me. I love my color and second cut. Even when I had an emergency and needed to move my appointment back two hours at the last minute, the front desk accommodated me without a scratchy little attitude I've gotten other places. Yes, the assistant was beside him and in fact finished applying the color per his instructions. He came and checked her work throughout the process. I found him to be serious about his work and have a great eye for color. His prices seemed in line with other salons I've used. I found the salon to be clean and well organized with plenty of parking. I'm not the type of customer who needs to feel as though I'm developing a friendship with my stylist, I just want someone who knows their stuff and kindly tells me when I want my hair to look like the picture and there is no way it can.
