The complimentary veal meatballs and garlic toast were awesome as was the cherry covered cheesecake that we shared.

I was recently at the Blairmont Club attending a reception, so had a chance to view the views that…read morethis club offers overlooking the fair township of Hollidaysburg. The view from the dining areas is gorgeous, with a wonderful vista view to the South overlooking the town. As this was a banquet reception, I also got a chance to sample some of the offerings that the club has. There were some wraps that were quite nice, and the beef and barley soup was excellent. However, I can't really say very much about the pasta salad. I have never been a fan of it, and every time I have ever had it my reaction has always been "Meh". The dessert of a chocolate mousse was quite nice though! All in all, the reception was nice, the food was decent, and the view was great. Would definitely go again in the future.

Attended a lunch here recently. The service was ok...our server was just a little slow to get our…read moredrink orders when we were first seated. The lunch was set up as a buffet with soup, salad, fruit, sandwich wraps and a cookie/brownie tray. The salad and fruit was good. I did not try the soup because it appeared to have pork in it and I dont eat pork. I did not care for the sandwich wraps because they did not have a good option for people who dont eat mayo or pork. The one I chose was chicken with cheese, spinach & red peppers. However, i was disappointed when i bit into it and it had some sort of mayo dressing all over the spinach and red onions which I do not eat.i ended up taking it apart to eat just the chicken & cheese but there was not much chicken in it at all. The views were pretty and the club was ok. Not a fancy place but very respectable and the restrooms were clean. Overall, it was a-ok.

I spent a couple nights at Fairfield and was disappointed. I got very little sleep because of the…read morenoise coming from the outdoor patio below my room. When I spoke to the front desk, the gal interrupted me defensively to explain why there was noise. I had to run the air conditioning to mask the noise from the patio and also the road behind the hotel; the result was that I had to listen to the droning air conditioning and that my room was freezing. I also experienced issues with printing a tax exempt form and the staff finding it. The printer I used printed only a portion of the form so the staff suggested I email it to him. He said he received it and signed it and took the taxes and fees off the bill. The day of my departure, the occupancy tax was present on my bill. I visited the front desk and another staff said he found my form and it would be taken care of. An hour or so later, the bill hadn't been corrected so I called and spoke with another clerk (day shift) who stated she would look for the tax exemption form and take care of the bill. It was closer to my departure time and still no correction so I called down again and she admitted she couldn't find the form and wasn't sure if it was lost and the email deleted so I sent it again before the situation was handled. I complained to an area manager who emailed back apologizing and saying my feedback was valuable and would be used for training purposes, etc ... The response wasn't helpful considering how little sleep I got and how dissatisfied I was with my stay. Sometimes things happen but it's how they're handled that makes a difference. At check-in, if my room preference couldn't be granted, this should have been clearly stated. When a complaint was made about the noise from the patio, the desk clerk shouldn't be defensive and interrupt, rather she should have listened and, if possible, offer a solution. I have no idea what the problem was with the tax exemption form but two people said they had the form and it would be handled but then it wasn't. The third person, the morning of checkout, did everything possible to help and was friendly about it so thank you. In the end, Sue, the morning of departure, was friendly and helpful; the unseen housekeeping staff was great as my room was very clean. The door, however, was broken as turning the knob down wouldn't open it -- only pulling it up worked. The shower was great. The bed was uncomfortable and the bedding too thin. Breakfast was definitely better than at other nearby hotels -- more choices, the items seemed of better quality, and were more attractively presented. I'm disappointed with my experience and recall having similarly disappointing experiences at this property years ago which is why it's been so long since I returned.

It's below average at best. Definitely racial undertones in the little valley. Make sure you research the percentage of minorities that live here and the history of racism in this area.

We went on a Saturday..got there around 3pm and left at 5pm. We barely ran into anyone while exploring..which was great. 2hrs was obviously not enough time. When we got there we checked in at the table..you get a wristband while on the property. Purchasing your tickets ahead of time..it makes life for the employees a lot easier. It's dark and there isn't power..so using the iPad to check out is a pain for them. They give you the rules and what not to do..where to stay out of..and they let you explore all on your own. We literally had so much fun. Make sure to bring plenty of flashlights and warm clothes if you're going during that winter season like we did. There are tunles that run from building to building..awesome! The chapel is incredible, the cell housing areas are just as cool..just so many things..the prison barber school..the cobbler shop. So many nooks and crannies. We learned theyll have overnight explorations in the spring/summer/fall in 2023. There will be a hydroponics building as well. The place is just spectacular, and the drive to keep this place open for people to come see history and not let it wither away is amazing. Thank you! Truly appreciate places like this. Please don't leave trash and break things here and ruin it for people who have an appreciation for places like this.
